This was a strange new world she had awakened to. Her memory loss must have been catastrophic because almost nothing was familiar. The language was foreign to her, with only a few words bearing some similarity to the language she thought in. Still, a full moon cycle had passed since her awakening, and little by little she was gaining basic understanding of it--only a few words and phrases, but she was learning more each day. A week or so ago, a little girl on the street had tugged on her mother's sleeve and pointed at her. "Look, Mama, Wonder Woman!" The mother smiled apologetically, saying something in the language these people spoke, then scurried away with the child looking behind her shoulder and grinning. When it happened again with another child on the same day, it was settled. Wonder Woman must have been the name of someone important in this strange world she had awoken to, and since both times it had been said with a smile it must have been a good one. Wonder had a nice ring to it. She just wished she knew what it meant.
I'm dying waiting for the next book.. So im very very HAPPY & PLEASED that Anadur finally gets his "TRUE LOVE!" I'm also truly SUPRISED at who she is except that Annani is going to freak out to have her "BEST FRIEND BACK!" Annani & Wonder go way BACK.. ON THAT NOTE THE END OF AUGUST WILL NOT GET HERE FAST ENOUGH!
Just finished Dark Survivor Awakened and now I can't wait for the next installment! This was an exciting adventure focusing on a strong, expertly trained female warrior who would rather avoid conflict instead. I predict that some very satisfying connections are coming soon in the Children of the Gods series including her as Anandur's potential love interest. We have seen hints that she existed in previous books. Her likely pairing with the endearing redhead begins with their very awkward meeting in this story. Learning more about this mysterious woman should be fun. I highly recommend not only this book, but the entire series. It is an extremely well written and unique set of complex and satisfying novels sure to please anyone who enjoys sexy paranormal fun.
I REALLY enjoyed this book and am very excited for the next installment of Anandur and Wonder's (who I am hoping is Gulan) story. I would love to see her reunited with Annani. And also Annani and Khiann finding their way back each others eternal love. This is one of the best paranormal series that I have ever read. Definitely top 5. The books always seem to end before I am ready to stop reading , which is a good thing
Love how you start to write in about Wonder. Was a little confused at first then yea Anurdur and wonder. You must know what's going to happen next. Can't wait for the next book. Hurry
'Dark Survivor Awakened' tells Gulan's story as Wonder, an immortal whose memory loss has left her starting life in a new time period, from infancy in an adult's body.
At the conclusion of the previous trilogy, Brundar's story, the next book up takes readers back to the beginning and tells Annani's story through her joining with Khiann; however, many questions are left unanswered and as this trilogy begins, I am disappointed. It feels like a completely different series that is leaving me lost. I miss the familiar clan membeaped this series to date. Why would the series not have just started with Annani's story?
Present day secondary storyline comments: I do not like how, over the last several books actually, Nathalie has dumped her cafe onto Jackson's shoulders. If she is not helping at all with her own business, she needs to sell it. Keeping her cafe afloat is not his (nor Gordan or Vlad's) responsibility. The same goes for Carol running the satellite cafe at the Keep (and now The Village). Nathalie has been very selfish with this and taken advantage of their help.
Additionally, I hate the budding relationship between Nick and Ruth. It is too childish and not believable; they have no chemistry and just reading about them is awkward. Each time she calls him Nicki, it sounds like she is speaking to a child. The rest of the clan cannot just put them together like animals, due to their own patience, and expect them to mate. Their relationship lacks development. Trying to move past ones shyness toward physical intimacy together does not make up for the absence of get-to-know-you conversations.
Future prediction: Carol will mate with one of the three prisoners (likely Grud) and they will convert (like Dahlu) and will help her infiltrate the island.
Wonder is such a great strong character. Bad ass Wonder woman captures Doomers. Anandur & Wonder would make a great couple. He sees her as a child so he keeps his guard up. Wonder doesn't know who she is and doesn't remember her past. She has fast instincts and can overpower an immortal male. She doesn't whine or complain. She struggles to make her life work and survive. Strong capable woman. Since she has no memories, she has to learn everything all over again. So when people speak to her, she sometimes doesn't get certain figures of speech which had me LOL. Ruth and Nick are getting closer and taking the next steps in their relationship. Both are so sweet and naive that they are perfect for each other. It's like 2 teenagers experiencing love for the first time. I hope Anandur eventually sees Wonder for a woman and not a young girl. They would be perfect for each other. Can't wait to get into the next in this love story. Overall a great and addicting series. The writing is much better than the beginning of the series. It has improved immensely. I'm definitely hooked on this series.
This is the 20th book in the Guardians of the Gods series. As always the author delivers a cohesive and suspenceful plot with wonderful character development. This installment focuses on Anandur finding his soulmate and love. Wonder is an immortal who had a concussion and remembers almost nothing in her past. This makes her very naive and cute, however she is tough as nails. This makes her a perfect mate for Anandur, one of the original guardians. The story also has a parallel part focusing on the love and romance of Nick and Ruth. Both of them are naive and it leads to beautiful and pure love. I can not give away the details, just read it! I look forward to reading book 21 coming out the end of this month!
I give this book 4 stars primarily because I love Anandur and I'm happy and excited about his story.
I think I know who Wonder really is, so I'm excited for her true identity to come out. I kind of like her... she's something of a badass and I prefer a kick-ass female to a whiny one any day.
Ruth and Nick's story being thrown in didn't fit. It felt like useless filler. What was happening with them had no bearing on Anandur's story and it didn't advance the story overall at all.
But my love for Anandur, and Brundar (in this story...and always!), plus my admiration of Wonder so far makes up for the troubling parts.

Dark Survivor Awakened KU 306 pgs **** 7/11/21 Wonder & Anandur
4 stars for the story of Wonder & Anandur. 2 stars for Nick and Ruth’s story. Theirs was so boring, I honestly skipped their entire story. Wonder and Anandur story was exciting and amazing. In this book, they are just getting to know each other and Anandur is very cautious with her because he feels she is very young, like a teenager. She has no memory of who she is and what she is although she knows she is immortal she just doesn’t have a clue about anything else…including the world around her. I can’t wait for more on them.
I was longing to read Anandur's story for so long and this did not disappoint. Great beginning as we meet Wonder and follow her journey from waking to meeting Anandur.
This book is so funny at times it really got me laughing out loud and the added romance of Nick and Ruth who i did not care for much before actually got me right in the feels. I loved everything about this from the action to the dialogue and i cannot wait for more.
On a side note i am really hoping that we have met Wonder before as i have an inkling of who she may really be and if right that would be bloody awesome!
I'm going to be honest, when I originally started this series, I thought I would get burned out after the first 6 or so. Here I am less than a month later and I've read all 20! I.T. Lucas does a marvelous job of repeating happy endings, but still keeps me on the edge of my seat questioning "Will this turn out they way I want it?" every time! I enjoy the fantastic storyline, and the characters are truly easy to love, especially as you get to know them more deeply.
I really like Wonder. I wonder if she knows Annani or was the best friend of Annani that was alluded to in one of the previous books. But the name “Kian” didn’t seem to ring a bell when Brundar said it. Although the spelling is different, I assumed it was pronounced the same as her beloved Khianne. And they haven’t mentioned Annani’s name at all.
Anyway, looking forward to her story. Reading on. See my notes and highlights on Goodreads. Happy reading!
I have been reading the Children of the Gods series religiously. I.T Lucas is brilliant! I love how we get to take a closer look at each of the characters. The storyline flows smoothly through every book. These characters have become so real for me that I can’t imagine an end. Pl awe NEVER stop writing . I am your forever fan!
T!his story was well worth the wait. Just another exciting installment, and
This book was well worth the wait. Another instalment in this amazing story. What an amazing writer. I can hardly wait for the next book to be released. I really loved the whole series.
This Book took me back and it was all good! I have read all this series, I encourage you new readers to start at the beginning Oh MY Oh MY, only a Super Woman could hold Men Hostage and She did! Could not put this one down and Read it all without putting it down! I Wait in Anticipation for the next one. Very easy to give this 5🌟.
I adored Wonder and her story. Loved how she seemed so naive about so many things she came across but conversely seemed older than old at others. So glad Anandur found his girl or rather was found by his girl. Love how things are moving forward for Ruth and Nick, they are such a sweet couple. All in all can't wait to get started on the next book. Thank you.
Anandur is still "trapped" by Wonder. While Ruth and Nick seem to pop-up at the most inopportune moment. Especially towards the end of the book when everything is coming to the climax of both storylines! Doesn't detract from the overall strength of the book, still enjoyed it,on to the next book. Gone reading 📚...
Dark Survivor Awakened focuses on Anandur and Wonder's first meeting and how their "courtship" evolved. It speaks to the mistrust she felt for the unknown, and Anandur's awesome powers of persuasion. Surprisingly, there are NO love scenes between our main characters in this book, NONE! Yet, none are needed, it manages to entertain without them (and there's always Nick and Ruth!)
I couldn't stop reading this book. Love the vulnerability and toughness of Wonder. She is definitely a great woman for Anandur. Anandur is the gentle giant of the Guardians who protects those around him. Wonder is an immortal woman with no memory of her past. I love the hint of mystery. Can't wait to see what happens next.
I read this one as soon as I saw it available. I’ve loved the series from the beginning as you learn of the ‘Immortals’ beginning with Kian and now a new character with unknown origins. I’m anxious for more.
Using charm, humor, and his intelligence, Anandur convinces Wonder he's a good guy. Wonder's amnesia leaves questions of whom she is and where she originally comes from. This book definitely keeps you wanting more!
Love love love this series. The author adds new characters while keeping us updated on the characters we know & love. Can’t wait to see what’s next. Keep writing ✍️ & I’ll keep reading 📖
I couldn't put this book down! Loved it and how the author keeps tying everything together- telling us more about our favorite characters, making us live the new characters, and continuing to twist the plot. Can't wait to read the next one! Hope it's soon.
Still love this series. It's always too short. Cant wait to hear more about the goddesses. Finally anandur found a partner Wonder sounds very impressive for an immortal. Look forward to reading about their romance..
Totally worth the wait and I'm can't wait to read the next in this series. I wonder if Wonder is Annani's personal maid from the past. The description seems so much like Wonder could be Gulan. And...I'm glad Anadur is finally getting his happily ever after.
This book ended much too quickly! I must say my mind is racing with the possibilities! Dang you for leaving me hanging! LOL. I am eagerly awaiting the new release! Keep them coming and I will keep on reading! Thank you!
I love this book I always wanted my red head book boyfriend to find love. And Wonder is the prefect match for him. I can't wait to see what happens next. Very excited about how this will unfold.
