Innocence wasn’t a personality flaw.

Nicolas “Pure” Warner lived with the curse of a cute face and a terminal blush. He was waiting for his happily ever after. Yet he’d given up on finding his one. His partner and spotter wasn’t the type to settle down but he’d always been drawn to the other man. Pure decided he could live with that, but when powers outside their control took Raul away, Pure would stop at nothing to get Raul back even if that meant leaving the Trenton Security team behind.

Touching the sun only left you burned.

Raul Martinez was a brutal fighter. He’d worked freelance for several years at Trenton Security. There was one dark spot to the perfect job: Pure. The man was sweet and looking for forever. How did the damaged and unworthy ever hope to touch the sun without getting burned? And touching Pure would be a dream come true. When Pure endangers his freedom to save him, how could Raul convince his boy that letting him go was the only option?

Raul and Pure have been partners now for a while. Each having the other's back. Both attracted to the other but neither making a move. Pure because of his traumatic past. And Raul, because he thinks he is too dirty for the sun that is Pure. But fate has a way of pushing them together so that neither can deny their feelings any longer.

I've been waiting for Pure's book since the Trenton crew was introduced way back when. I had a feeling his story would be heart breaking and it was. (Read the trigger warning in the beginning). Pure was so quiet and kind of in the background throughout the series. But you knew there was something there between him and Raul. Raul is brash and rough. He finds himself in trouble in this book. But once again, Pure has his back.

I was a little disappointed because I felt like the romance between the two took a backseat, at times, to the action/mystery part. But I still enjoyed it and love these two together. The ending was too sweet for words.

I hate that this is the end of the series but I'm sure we will get to see them all in later books about the people in Powers. I'm really looking forward to Horace and Freddie's story. They need a boy of their own. Someone who understands them.

I feel like I’ve been waiting for Pure and Raul forever! I knew I was going to love Pure, I have such a thing for the wounded bird and he was the very definition. After a teenage trauma, you understand why he’s been saving himself for “the one”…. I wasn’t sure how the type of relationship was going to work with that, and he seemed to get over his hangups really quickly without any therapy or even talking to someone, but.. hey… to each their own, right?

Now, Raul has wanted Pure from the moment he met him, but has kept him in the partners at work and acquaintance category because he didn’t think he was good enough for the innocent man. But Pure, as much as he pushed Raul away in previous books, he was done waiting on him to make a move and when Raul gets arrested for a crime he didn’t commit, Pure makes his move…. Pure makes all the moves, actually, to ensure his Daddy’s safety. I loved watching Pure fight for his man when usually, especially in these tropes, it’s the other way around. I also liked the bottoming Daddy… hot.

What I didn’t like….is that the Crew, none of them took their back, when had it been literally anyone else, they would have. Even Peaches….. all these guys are bordering on insane, but for Pure and Raul, who like Pure pointed out, has gone above and beyond for every one of them at least once, and they were in the wind when it came time for Raul and Pure to need them? It’s unforgivable…

I don’t even think any of them apologized really… not like they needed to, and then Gage had the nerve to talk to Raul like he was the one in the wrong?? Uhm, no sir… I lost a lot of love that I had for the crew in this one, so it wasn’t my favorite. We did get more Horace and Freddie, I really hope they get their own story… I’d love for them to get their happily ever after’s!

I loved Pure’s mom… she was the only one who had their backs no matter what. She was the family that Raul needed and it was good Pure had her, because the guys proved they weren’t worthy of that title in this one. I’m really disappointed about that… and I’m bitter lol

But…. alls well that ends well…it ended beautifully between the two of them and everything Pure ever wanted… I just hope the guys come together in the next one and remember where their loyalties lie and who’s had their back and do better.

3.5 stars from me on this one.

Perfect Series Ending

I have been waiting for Pure's story since the first Trenton Security Book and JM Dabney didn't disappoint. I love seeing Pure reclaim his power and absolutely love his happily ever after. Dabney is my favorite author because she keeps it real and doesn't sugarcoat it. Her characters have flaws and scars and pasts and they are strong and the push on and overcome. Her characters don't rock 8 packs and perfect skin, they are fluffy and hairy and sexy as hell!

I still can't get over authors who claim their books were "professionally" edited and proofread, not to mention I'm sure this author has a slew of beta readers and ARC readers - yet this book is full of mistakes and really, just poorly edited.

Pure - funny, he came off as some super tough guy in the previous books of this series, yet in his book, he's a damn puppy. Raul sounds exactly like all the other characters, there's nothing special about him, nothing to make him stand out and be an individual. The characters are highly unoriginal. As per what seems to be the norm for this author, someone has a history of sexual abuse. She makes it sound like Raul has some stuff that makes him feel unworthy but we have ZERO idea of what it is, because she totally forgot about it.

As far as the rest of the book, I agree with the other people that said this book felt rushed. It absolutely feels pointless. If it was meant to be the end of the series, it's a total fail. The POV is all over the place, 1/2 the time I had no idea who was saying what. She flipped flopped between Pure/Nicholas like 3 times in 3 consecutive sentences. I mean come on !!!

So yeah, sorry not sorry but I returned this book real quick, left my little review on amazon, and closed the chapter on reading this author forever more.

I have loved the three inter-related series JM Dabney has created from the first one I read. I have been waiting for Pure and Raul's book from the first time they were mentioned. I'm still waiting. This book has a HEA but it is such a disappointment. In fact, I think this is one of the ghost written books (a trend I deplore) rather than by the author. That at least makes me feel better about how bad it is. I seldom will write a review if I can't give the book a 4 or 5 star. I wish JM Dabney would read what was published. It does not fit the characters, it does not fit the series, it just does not work. Either fix it or actually write it so that it is part of this world.

I feel left out,The story is rushed, this serie is ending,so everyone needs
to make an exit.there are enough side characters to make this serie to continue.
but no,the ending is there.so must be the story.there is hardly romance or fun.
a somewhat strange storyline.sidecharacters are more fun and interesting.than the main
ones.the editing is terrible.I feel left out.waiting long enough for this book to be read.
and now this.

5 Stars!

Pure is the last installment in the Trenton Security series and it needs to be read in order because there are a lot of recurring characters, otherwise you'll be thoroughly lost.

Pure and Raul have been crushing on one another for years. Pure wants to find his prince and he's been crushing on Raul for a long time, but an incident when he was a teenager emotionally scarred him. Raul, on the other hand, feels he's not good enough for Pure and isn't sure he can commit to just one man for the rest of his life. So, perhaps the progression from work partners/friends into more wasn't as smooth and I would've liked, but these guys have been interested in the other/working together for years and they definitely had the chemistry. I think Raul was just the perfect Daddy for larger Pure, I loved how patient he was with Pure and how supportive and trusting they were with each other.

The case was interesting and fast-paced and gave Pure and Raul the push they needed to become more and of course, it was a really good way to tie things up in this series.

Overall, a very entertaining, sexy, fun and action-packed addition to the series, one that fans of this series won't want to miss out on. Very recommendable!

Not the best

Of this series. Felt to rushed, and the mistakes were never ending. I also thought Pure & Raul would have been more passionate, but the Daddy Baby Boy thing fell flat for me.

Satisfying in all levels

I enjoyed the multi-leveled conflicts, the struggle to find yourself and your happily ever after. The characters were fully developed giving a richness to the story line. Definitely worth your time and money.

1.5 stars. I am in shock. I KNOW this author can write good Daddy kink, but this was just no. Everything about this was just fantastical and ridic. And for the love of...why did Raul keep speaking in the third person? Daddy this, Daddy that, every single sentence! We know who you are to him, Raul! You just sound cartoonish and lame! I was so looking forward to Pure and Raul's book. Man, was I! But the pacing was just not there. One minute Pure is traumatized and almost sworn to celibacy, and the next he's talking about what kind of Daddy he needs, and he and Raul are Daddy and boy...huh? No, really. What??! The whole Daddy thing never took because it came out of nowhere and was so superficial, and Pure seemed nothing like himself! The whole plot with the Trentons not helping, and Pure's vigilante mama, and the swashbuckle antics. Skim skim skim ridic and unbelievable skim skim. And then, again, out of nowhere, it's babies and family. I just...sigh. Nothing made sense and just felt rushed and 'off.' I'm off to re-read some of my old faves. I'm looking forward to the two guys in the woods finding their third, but I'm scared now. Please be good! I'm waiting patiently for you. :-(

Edited to add: Read other reviews and it seems like this is the end of the series which makes this book even more trash. No Horace and the other dude's book? That's low, man. Low.

A great read, especially for those who have been following the series and like me, were chomping at the bit for these two to get together.

I love this little world and it’s so fun to get the little snippets of other characters from previous books. It keeps it all tied together nicely and you don’t feel like the author is just jumping ship from couple to couple each novel.

That being said, the found family trope that felt so strong in previous novels definitely dropped here. And it’s acknowledged by the author through Pure’s perspective when he calls out his teams treatment and lack of support but I just wanted more grovelling and apologies. I felt like my boys deserved more.

After all the comments and sexual tension from these two in previous novels, I really expected them to explode off the pages in this one. Sadly, they didn’t and that’s what’s stopped me from the full five stars.

action packed, filled with conspiracy and mystery, Pure being a total badass and having his man’s back and tender love declarations amidst self doubt. It’s all a pretty package but I’m greedy and there was just a tiny spark missing that I can’t quite put my finger on.

All in all, if you’ve loved Dabney’s other works in the series you won’t be disappointed!

Yes daddy.

Daddy Raul is perfect for our little pretty angel Pure. Like fire and ice both destructive but together can create a calming warm river. This book twist and turns just perfectly to keep you right on the edge of your seat begging for more. By the end you’ll be the one saying Yes Daddy. ;-)

The entire series builds up the Crew as family who takes care their own and then the family abondons Pure and Raul in this book which was disappointing to say the least. The rest of the story is pretty unbelievable I don't know if there will be more books in the series but I'm likely to skip them.

The Daddy/boy kink did not work at all for me in the book. The story itself was good but every time we got sexy times, I cringed. Like actually cringed. I'm not sure why it didn't work for me but no, just no. Loved seeing the crew and Peaches most of all and enjoyed their journey but overall just okay for me.

Felt Rushed

The story would have gotten 4 stars, but desperately needs to be re-edited.

I'm glad we got to see Pure's past, but he seemed like a totally different character; especially with his relationship with Raul. It also felt like their relationship was rushed.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I rated this book 4.5 Stars so I rounded it up to 5 Stars. I’m glad that Pure and Raul finally got their happily ever after, it definitely wasn’t easy. I really didn’t like that when Raul got charged with m*rder the Trenton guys basically washed their hands of him, or it looked like they did. Pure totally did the right thing by quitting when they told him that he’s too close to the situation so he’s to stay out of it and if he doesn’t they threatened his job. What surprised me most is that Camden was helping Pure with intel and then having his husbands Sin & Saint to help with Evan if needed. Considering he’s the Powers County Sheriff and has a lot to lose. Peaches also did would she could to keep Raul protected while he’s inside. Just because Raul isn’t permanently part of Trenton Security and just does contract work for them on certain jobs, doesn’t mean they shouldn’t drop everything to help clear his name, as they should know that he’s not going to b*at a guy to d*ath and leave the guy in his hotel room.

All the guys from Trenton Security are all capable of k*lling, but usually it would be to protect those they care about and they all should know that Raul is in love with Pure and has been for awhile. Raul has helped them out when they needed help without batting an eye in the past. I loved seeing the different sides of Pure come out to play, the bada*se sniper and then the more vulnerable side when he’s allowing Raul to take care of him/when he’s Raul’s boy. Pure’s mum is completely bada*se in her own right, for a tiny slip of a women she’d go above and beyond to make sure her son’s happy and that includes helping Pure get out of Powers County with the guys from Trenton being none the wiser so he can then rescue Raul during his prison transport since there’s a price on his head and the best way to take him out would be while he’s on the inside. It was heartbreaking to read about Pure’s v*rginity being stolen and 15 years old by the popular boy at school. He told him NO multiple times and tried to fight him off but he wouldn’t listen. I’m glad he didn’t have to endure the torment long since someone stepped in and stopped it.

I really liked how Raul talked to Pure after he found out why Pure was so against D/s relationships and about what happened to him as a teenager. I loved that when something Raul did was a trigger he had a discussion with Pure saying he’s done nothing wrong, what happened to him wasn’t his fault and he’s glad that he now knows where Pure’s limits lie. All I can say is Peaches and Pure’s mum make a scary but awesome team. They nearly had a mob boss basically p*ss himself. No one better mess with their sons (biological and “adopted” kids of their heart). If Lilly and Mary were part of the team everyone better watch out as no one would have a chance lol. The Crews always protect their family. I’m looking forward to reading more books from JM Dabney in the future. I’m hoping that they’ll eventually write more books from the Powers County Universe, maybe next the generation books. I know that in real life it’s probably not going to be a massive family and they’re all part of the LGBTQA+ community but it’s from JM Dabney’s head, and it’s called fiction for a reason. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.

Loved This Series

I read the first Trenton Security book and realized I wanted everyone’s back stories so I went back and started Twirled World Ink, then Brawlers. I loved them all. Definitely worth your time. My only complaint is that almost every book ended with the couple having children in some way. I hate it when hetero books act like children are the end all, be all of relationships and it really bothered me that these did too. I think HEAs don’t have to involve children and got so sick of it through all of these series. The story lines were otherwise great.

Great book to the series

I could not wait to read this book and I was not dissapointed. Very sensitive to the trauma and well written to describe how someone is feeling. Love Pure's mom and Raul's prison buddy. Wish they both get their own books even if it is just a novella. This author is a wonderful writer and handles the situations so well. I get drawn into this world and can completely see it all in my head. I need to look for the next series on the author's page.

Love past the pain

This book was a bit heavier and angsty than the previous but given the storyline it made sense. I'm so glad that Pure and Raul got their HEA. I loved Pure's mother - that is one feisty little woman. I'm going to miss this whole crew of misfits. I hope that the author revisits Powers at some point.

The way the book read, all the characters were against the two main characters. I was looking forward to this story and I have no issue with the main characters relationship but how all the other characters insisted that they had to face the consequences and were in the wrong, there was no family and support for these two.

I've been putting off reading this book for a while now, something about the whole traumatized pure just wasn't my thing
Well I've read it now and I think the fact that I gave it 5 stars speaks for itself
I wouldn't mind if there was a bit more "foreplay" before they got together but I guess that's what that shit ton of books before this one was for

reread - I had forgotten most of the plot points(which is nice when you do a reread) and it came back as I read through. This one bugged me. The plot was more detailed, but I hated the fact that there was this rejection or change in behaviour with the crews.

Ok there are triggers. Kidnapping, rape, violence, etc. Be careful if there are problems for you.
I knew, I knew, I knew, something was up with Pure. After reading through all these series and seeing how Pure acted and how he really was attracted to Raul but wouldn’t act on it, I knew something was up. And in this large overgrown family of the crews, it’s almost like you can’t get it without there being something from your past. But I never expected what I found. And for Pure, it made me rage for him and cry.
I love these boys like they were my family, even if they are fictional. And I’m afraid I’d be a lot like Peaches. Nobody messes with the family. And somebody has and it’s become a big mess. Raul went away for a few days for a job, only to come back to his hotel in Powers to a knock at the door and he’s being arrested. When it comes time to have Raul’s back, everyone seems to be dragging their feet and Pure is pissed. Everyone has seemed to abandon them when they’ve done so much for Trenton, and Pure is done. He’s gone off the grid and rescued Raul with him. But the people who want Raul dead, have found them and it’s ended badly. Raul is jailed and Pure is fighting for his life. Just when Pure was finally ready to be with Raul, their world is turned upside down. And Pure is going to get him back. One way or another. With a few favors from some unlikely sources, Pure sets out to fix it. But what is going to be the cost at the end of the day?
UGGGGHHHHH. J.M. you are KILLING me! Not baby Pure. Bless that boy’s heart. I love all the boys but there’s just something about Pure. He’s just….so sweet. Even as a lethal killer, there’s just something about that boy. My heart just ached for him so bad. He finally gets comfortable enough to deal with his feelings with Raul, and morons just have to go mess it up. Smh. Morons. There were a lot of lessons in this one though. For Raul and Pure, they trusted each other as they trusted no one else. Their lives depended on each other in the field. They had to have that trust. But it was more than that. Even with Pure not wanting to have sex, he somehow knew that Raul would never intentionally hurt him and that trust was even more rare. They also learned through all this, that sometimes they had to rely on others when they didn’t want to and weren’t sure of the people. But I think Raul said it best at the end. They had to learn the biggest lesson of all. Family isn’t always blood, everyone makes mistakes, forgiveness is necessary to mend bridges needed and true love can get you through just about anything. Even if you have to stay somewhere you don’t want to. Pure had to learn that strength comes from within him and he holds the power. He has the choice to say no or yes or purple for all that matters. He has the right to choose who he wants and who stays in his life. But he also had to learn that you have to let go of the hurt to move forward.
It’s not an easy thing. Forgiveness especially. We all want to hold on to some of the bad to help us remember and stay weary. But sometimes that rememberance keeps us from the things we want and need the most. It doesn’t make life a magic 8 ball to forgive and poof everything is ok. It doesn’t work that way. But in order to move past and move forward, you have to finally get to the point of letting go and accepting what the true love and family has to offer. It’s been one heck of a ride with these boys. But I will never forget one of them. I will always go back to them to revisit. If you haven’t read any of these books, then you are truly missing out.

•*´¨)✯ ¸.•*¨)
✮ (¸.•´The end of an era

I discovered JM Dabney by chance a few years back and had the pleasure of meeting them last October at a book convention. I will say personally, never judge a book by its cover or an author by their appearance. As innocent and quiet that JM looked, it's almost hard to reconcile the author as one who whips up such fiery kinky books.

So, I heard this was the end of the Trenton Security books. I must say, even though the overall book was good, the explosive ending that I had expected being the final book and had so much anticipation for the main characters were in place, was lost in the process. Still, their was definite chemistry on Pure/Nicholas's and Raul's part.

"Until I take my last breath, Nicholas, your happiness and safety will be my only priority." ~Raul

Yes, I got suckered into another Daddy/boy book, but at least I knew what I was getting. These men have a way of drawing you forward and making their voices heard and I couldn't deny that, not at the very end. Getting to meet up with the other guys from the series are always a bonus.

Will I miss these guys? Hell yes! They shaped the world that J.M. Dabney built in all their dysfunctional glory.

Pure a big scary guy on the outside. Inside he’s trapped by his past. Unable to show his partner Raul, how he feels about him. Raul wants nothing more than to have Pure in his arms forever. When Raul is framed for murder and Pure rescues him, he might finally get his wish.

I’ve been waiting (seems like forever) for Pure’s story. It’s nice to finally know his backstory.

I liked the book but I wished there would of been more of them alone together. It seemed like this should of been an epic love story but it wasn’t quite there. The epilogue was nice. This has been a nice spin-off story in the Powers universe. I will miss all these guys.
