A professional baseball player who needs to find himself—on and off the mound.

A heroine passionate about animals—but not the life she’s living.

And two ferrets who spark a romance that will change everything for Brady and Addison …

Addison Blakely should be happy. After all, so many items on her life list had checkmarks by them: self-sufficient and living on her own, enjoying life in DC with fantastic friends, happily single, and working at a professional job.

So why isn’t she?

Addison knew life wasn’t going to be like the Regency romances she devours. The pages of her own book weren’t going to be filled with a dashing hero and a gorgeous romance. Nor would she be living the life she wanted by the last page. That wasn’t reality.

Or so she thought.

Addison’s life changes when a celebrity photoshoot with the Washington Soaring Eagles baseball team brings Brady Jensen into her life. Addison is drawn to the gorgeous pitcher with a crooked smile and a soft spot for the underdog. The more Addison learns about Brady, the more she begins to believe she can rewrite her own story.

When Brady and Addison are both faced by the challenges of living an authentic life and accepting their own truths, will this relationship end without a happily ever after? Or will Brady and Addison’s love make it all nine innings?

If you like emotionally intelligent heroes, animal shenanigans, and romantic gestures worthy of a swoony Regency novel, you’ll want to escape into A Complete Game. Can be read as a standalone.

We are finally back with the Soaring Eagles in Washington DC.

Addison loves Regency romances and animals, she would love to work with animals, she is not quite there yet though. Her family has wanted something else for her all her life and her sister Ari is the big star, not easy. She feels at home in DC now though and has found great friends. One of them being Hayley, who is married to Brody Jensen.

Addison meets Brady, his twin, who got traded to the Soaring Eagles, at a photoshoot, where she can bring her ferrets.
Brady is gorgeous and they hot it off immediately, with deep conversations and meaningful dates. Brady, doesn’t like playing with his twin and struggles a lot with his games.

Both of them are going through things (Addison with her family and looking for a dream job and Brady with his game and being around Brody)
and they are there for each other, but that also meaning tell each other the truth, which leads to some conflict and misunderstandings. This makes the storyline very interesting and intense. I love reading about their relationship and how it developed. Aven Ellis really captured all the feelings and emotions. I felt very close to the characters and wanted everything to turn out well.

They share a deep bond and they make each other better, even with some ups and downs in between. The details in this story are incredible, I loved the setting as well.

I adored catching up with the characters from previous books as well. They are a great bunch and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.

I have to say baseball is still a little mystery to me, so these parts of the story didn’t interest me too much. I got into it a bit though and if you’re a big baseball fan, you are going to love this story.

It’s the perfect story for this quarantine time, it will make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. It’s romantic, passionate, funny, touching and very authentic! WONDERFUL!!!

When you read an Aven Ellis book, you are guaranteed a happy ending, but you’re also guaranteed to read a book with a lot of heart and laughs.

Brady and Addison are loveable characters and I rooted for them throughout the whole book. Both have spent their lives living in the shadows of their siblings, never feeling good enough. Both are struggling to make their way out of the shadows to prove themselves. In each other, they finally feel like they have found someone who can understand them.

My only complaint is that I wished Brady and Brody talked about their feelings of being of compared as twins. They both felt the same way, even though they were compared in different ways (one in sports and one in school). If Brody had admitted to Brady that he had similar feelings, then maybe Brady would have realized that he wasn’t the only one who didn’t feel good enough and he could have been more open to accepting Brody’s help.

The addition of the ferrets was interesting, and I enjoyed Brady’s reaction to them. I loved how he wanted to learn more about them not just to impress Addison, but because he was genuinely interested.

If you’re looking for a sports romance with little drama, quirky animals, and a wonderful romance, look not further than this book.

Another cute romcom but 1/2 way through I realized this book is #3 in the series. This means I need to start at the beginning. The theme of the series is baseball - all the hero’s are professional ball players while their heroines are professional women in their own light.

The characters are young but centered and will need to each overcome their personal challenges to find love in each other!

Combining a modern-day romance novel and a Regency novel is so much fun and exactly why I loved A COMPLETE GAME by Aven Ellis. Addison is obsessed with Regency romances, so Brady decides she needs to be treated correctly as they get to know one another. She becomes the Lady Addison to his Lord Brady. And if that doesn’t make you swoon, there still are the baseball butts, endearing conversations, comedy, and, of course, the insta-love, yet will they won’t/they magic that Ellis is known for. Oh, Willy and Petey, too - Addison’s ferrets that steal the show!

Let me say that I’m a dog lover through and through, but after reading this book, I was ready to go out and rescue every single ferret that was available. Addison has such a heart for needy ferrets but does an excellent job explaining why they are great pets. Plus, Willy and Petey are the cutest and silliest animals I’ve read about in a long time.

I’ve determined that I love Ellis’ first dates, and Addison and Brady’s were no exception. Every time I read a new book in the Avenverse, I think the first date can’t be topped, and I’m wrong. The whole thing was perfection, but whoever takes me to a bookstore and tells me to pick out books will have my heart immediately.

The one thing that I really enjoyed about Addison and Brady is that they made communication an essential part of their relationship. They were determined to get to know one another - even if it was a short time to fall for one another - they genuinely wanted to know who each other was as a person and talked about it. I appreciated this factor instead of it being more about the physical aspects…

…but yes, there were physical aspects (even though it is closed door!), these two have fantastic chemistry! 🔥 I think all the talking - especially a mix of Regency talk - really heated things up for me! 😍

I love the Avenverse books - they are my happy place. This one especially made me SO happy.

As always, you don’t have to read them in order, but they are more fun if you do!

This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews I received this book for free from the Author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. If you have been following my reviews for a while you will know that I am a big big fan of Aven Ellis. This is the third book in the Washington DC Soaring Eagles series but all three can be read as standalones.

Addison has featured in the previous books in this series but this book is her story. Addison is passionate about animals, not just cats and dogs, Addison is a fan of all animals. I love Addison's passion for her ferrets and for working with animals. Addison is also a lover of regency romances and while I, personally am not, I love that she is. The way this is intertwined within the book is fun and allows her relationship with Brady to become so much more than the physical.

Brady Jensen was traded to the Soaring Eagles at the end of the previous season. I fell in love with Brady the minute he appears. The way he wants to do his photoshoot with something other than a cat or a dog. Something he can connect with due to his background and his own personal issues. From that moment I knew Brady was someone special.

As always I loved catching up with the other couples from this series and I really loved the introduction of Meghan. I cannot wait to explore her story more!

These two go on quite a journey and the 'black moment' was one that really got to me. When these two make up I found it very emotional. Aven really captured my heart with Addison and Brady. Their issues, Addison with her family and Brady with being an individual as well as a twin, are concepts that people can relate to even when your situation may not be exactly the same. The way that these characters are so honest with each other even if it is not what the other wants to hear is what really had me rooting for them to overcome the problems they faced.

The world is a scary place right now and Aven has created a world that was a pleasure to escape to and I hope it will give you all that same feeling when you curl up on your sofa's with it.

I really love Aven Ellis books. I eagerly anticipate a new one coming out every few months. All her books always make me feel light and happy. I know I am in for a really cute romance and a guaranteed happily ever after so no matter what mood I am in these books always can cheer me up. I adore her characters for their quirks and charm.

PROS:
I LOVED the meet cute between Brady and Addison. The photo-shoot with her ferrets Willy and Petey was adorable.
Their first date... the chemistry was amazing.
I absolutely adored their regency romance flirting. Calling each other Lord and Lady was the BEST!!!! As I am a big romance novel fan, this really spoke to my inner romantic heart.

CONS:
Addison has so many hobbies I had trouble keeping up. Same with Brady. His spirit animal was an octopus but at no time in the book do they go near an aquarium or beach to back this up and he spends more time going on about birds than he does the sea creatures.
I did kind of feel like there was a lot of repetitiveness in this book compared with her previous ones. I couldn't shake it as I read it... I constantly had this I've read this before feeling. I felt like Addison's family drama reminded me way too much of Payton's in Green Tea Latte To Go. In both books neither parents nor sister approve of their career choice and at the end confront them only to be reunited with said disapproving sister who is jealous of her freedom. It was exactly the same conflict. Instead of the parents being involved in this story maybe it should have been more sibling conflict than family disapproval? Might have made things feel a bit different.
The CONSTANT referral to Brady/Brody being twins. Yes we get it. I think I would have preferred the confrontation to be more about seeing Brody as a teammate rather than his brother than using their twin bond to their professional advantage? It just didn't make sense to me. But I guess the end result was the same.
And NO proposal? I was so looking forward to seeing how Brady proposes. I was hoping he'd dress up like a rake so I was disappointed not to see that happen. Lol.

I am so looking forward to the next Soaring Eagles love story.

Addison loves all animals, but is enamored with ferrets. She also adores reading Regency romances, but as for her own romance, she's stepping back to wait for the perfect man who will love every part of her.

Brady pitches for the Soaring Eagles. His twin brother Brody is the star catcher, and Brady always feels like he's second rate compared to him. His last relationship was full of drama and a girl who didn't accept every part of him.

When the two reconnect over a photo shoot involving baseball players and animals, the chemistry is instant. They are both struggling with accepting some truths about themselves. Addison has always wanted to work with animals but her family looks down on almost all of her life's choices, so she has settled for something she thought would make them accept her. Brady's concentration on his game is suffering because he feels such animosity at being on the same team as his brother. As Addison and Brady's feelings for each other develop and they learn more about each other, it's obvious they belong together, but when the time comes or them to face these truths, will their relationship survive or will they strike out?

I enjoyed this book so much. Brady and Addison are both fun, sweet, and wonderful. I'm not a huge baseball fan so all of that was a little lost on me, but I LOVE the DC scene of this series. Their date at the Library of Congress was magical! Everything is so detailed and well thought out to the point I feel like I'm actually there! If you love romance or are a baseball fan definitely give this a read.

Thank you to the author for a copy of this book!

Another home run from Aven Ellis. I was completely hooked on this book from the very start.
Brady is the perfect gentleman. Kind, polite, in touch with his feelings, and also a bit of a rake (if you don’t know what that is you will just have to read the book). Add all of that to an amazing baseball body, and what more could you ask for? Sure he has some flaws, like feeling like he is living in the shadows of his twin brother. But his flaws are what make him more human, and more perfect.
Addison was the perfect match for Brady. She was strong, yet vulnerable. She understood what living in the shadows of a sibling was like. She found her strength and finally was able to live her life the way she wanted, working at a job she loved, with a strong man by her side.
I loved the instant attraction between Addison and Brady. You just knew that they were going to have a sweet, romantic, supportive relationship. They both helped each other find who they were as individuals as well as who they were as a couple.
This was the perfect read to get a little taste of the baseball excitement while the real baseball season is on hold.

A man that knows emotions

Wow I'm not even sure where to begin because I loved every word written! As a woman we all dream of finding the manly man that also is romantic, intune with his feelings, and doesnt mind the deep dove talks. This is Brady a sweet man that had a hard time finding his way. Of course in walks Addision with her happy and positive light and just the person to help Brady along the path. These two were obviously meant for each other from their first kiss! This book will have you laughing out loud with Wiilie and Petey the 2 ferrets that make you want to run out and adopt a few as well! This is a must read and you will feel so many emotions while doing it which is the reason Aven Ellis is the best and my favorite author

Anything Aven Ellis writes is absolute pure gold. She is someone I have read since her very first book. Anything she's writes is an automatic one click sometimes without even reading the blurb!

I've never laughed so hard as I did in this book. Aven has this beautiful gift of making you laugh, swoon ,cry, swoon and clap for the couple. This book is no different. I absolutely adored Brady and Addison. Both characters had a very similar background and really just wanted to help eachother the most they could. This was such a pure magic and beautiful love story about two souls who were simply just meant to be. This is a book I will think about for quite some time and cannot wait to read this over and over and over again.

Loved everything about this book - characters, location, sport, emotion! I always fall for Aven's characters. They seem so real and I always find something to connect with in their personalities. This is one of very few series I'm up to date on and I have to say it makes me sad that there's not another one ready to go on to next.

I don't know if Aven lives in this location, has visited frequently or just did her research. But I can imagine all that she describes. I also now want to explore the DC/Alexandria area.

Baseball is my favorite sport to watch. So of course that's a hit with me. The emotions presented in the book pull emotions out of me.

Definitely a must read if you like romance and baseball!

Who needs a feel good, romantic story to keep your spirits up right now? 🙋‍♀️
Coming April 8, 2020 is a new baseball love story A Complete Game! This is the third book in the Washington DC Soaring Eagles series. This story is about Addison and Brady (his twin is Brody, try not get them too confused). Addison is a ferret owning, animal lover and Brady is a newly traded pitcher for the Soaring Eagles baseball team. They bond over being in the shadows of the siblings. This story is perfect for making you feel all warm and fuzzy inside even when the world outside can be cold and dark. A happy ending guaranteed.

This is the perfect book to be quarantined at home with, paired with a great cup of tea!

Aven is the queen of details when it comes to her writing. You feel like you are walking the streets of Arlington and D.C. with Brady and Addison. This sweet love so genuinely builds and then fights to go the distance.

If you are looking for a funny, ferret loving, tea drinking, baseball playing kind of book- then look no further. I laughed, I smiled, and I rooted for this couple! It was a perfect escape from the chaos of our world right now.

Best book of the series

I have read most of this authors other books and series and this book is definitely my favorite. Some of her earlier series suffered from overly repetitive plots. But this series overall is better in that way and has more complex characters and relationships. The MCs in this book seemed quite realistic and had a more fleshed out and complex characterization and relationship.

Heat level: 3.5. Some medium level foreplay on screen and sex off screen. This is pretty standard in every book from this author.

Single perspective, just hers, borderline third person perspective story. She isn't well loved by her family, she is the family let down. He's the twin of the wonderful book 1 male character, he will never measure up to the twin according to the world and the voice in his head. Steamy scenes are fade to black. The negative self talk gets to be a bit old, but on par with people who need to work on themselves. They each need someone to slap them upside the head, maybe they will be that for each other, maybe not. This was a wonderful book 3 in a 4 book series, things are winding down.

Perfect love connection

Aven Ellis is a great storyteller with characters that snag you from page one. Addison and Brady have an old fashioned connection that is refreshing to read about in this century... throw in a couple of ferrets, (oh did i forget axe-throwing) and you have a book that is a permanent addition to your reading family. Sit down with your favorite beverage and enjoy the ride.

Addison can’t believe how perfect Brady is for her. He’s such a gentlemen and suits her so well. They both struggle with the relationship they have with their siblings, but working through that helps both of them. Their chemistry is off the charts. I loved this baseball book in this series, although you can read it separately. Can’t wait for the next one, Aven Ellis!

A Sweet and Fun Read

A Complete Game is everything you can expect from a book by Aven Ellis. An engaging heroine and a kind and strong hero. Humor and wit. Throw in baseball and some animals and it’s another great read! I have loved all of her books and this one is the same! I would highly recommend reading this!

Humor and Romance - a winning combo!

You have to love a book that makes you laugh out loud several times in the first few pages but what carries you through is the well told story. Aven Ellis consistently delivers enchanting characters whose very real human foibles make her stories worth reading and this one is yet another. Can’t wait for the next one!

Hilarious, thoughtful, perfection!

I love this series but especially A Compete Game! At one point, I was laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes. Then I thought about what everyone dreams a grownup relationship will be like. Aven Ellis managed to capture the ups and downs of life and relationships. Perfection!

Another cute HEA

I loved this third book in the series! In true Aven style the two main characters have their flaws that they work out to be better together. Hayley and Brady are living in the shadows of their siblings and they help each other get to be the shining stars they are!
