Learn how to make everything from sweet, pull-apart caramel monkey bread to a savory 3-cheese white pizza or satisfying blueberry pop tarts to a basic, delicious loaf of bread. Keto Bread will help you stay on top of your keto diet but allows you to enjoy a unique spin on the many different and delicious versions of bread out there. These bread substitutes replace ingredients like white flour with other keto-friendly options, such as almond flour, ensuring success in your keto diet endeavors.
Overally, I think this a great book to have in your keto/low carb arsenal. There is your standard "here's how you do low carb and the ingredients you need" section at the beginning of the book, followed by a robust section of bread recipes (muffins, biscuits, loaves, buns, bagels, pie crusts, taco shells, etc.) and then five chapters of recipes utilizing those recipes. So, all in all, the bulk of the valuable content is in that second chapter. Not all of them though - there's pancakes, waffles, donuts and more in the breakfast section, biscotti and crackers are tucked into the snack section, and cake, tiramisu can be found in the desert chapter.
The first recipe I tried in here was the pizza crust. It was the *best* low carb pizza crust I've ever made. This recipe replaces my go-to "fathead" recipe. It's similar, but with a few tweaks that make is SO much tastier. The second recipe we made was the naan to go with some butter chicken. It was tasty too, but not any better (and really not that different) than the naan recipe I already follow.
This is not a thick cookbook, but what's in here is quality, tasty, well-tested recipes. With Thanksgiving coming up, I'm looking forward to trying the pie crusts out with a pecan pie. Definitely worth the money if you're craving breads and want recipes that are not going to be a waste of ingredients.
Of all the keto books I "thumbed" through - can't think of a better term, even though they were e-books - this is the one I most looked forward to. It's full of luscious looking recipes for breads of all kinds, including a few interesting things like tortillas and breadcrumbs, and so forth. For me, not so great, because I think close to every recipe calls for dairy, and most have a lot of ingredients I don't yet have on hand. There is some special shopping one has to do in order to bake keto-friendly foods. I'm transitioning to those special items gradually, as my grocery budget allows. Some time in the future I will be trying at least the simpler recipes for which I can substitute some non-dairy ingredients, like the garlic bread biscuits, and tortillas (we love our Mexican food in this house). I'll try to make sure I update this review, once I do that. For now, I recommend this book to anyone who is contemplating a ketogenic lifestyle or just wants to get some of the extra carbs out of their diet in a healthy way, but loves their bread.
I wanted a book for Keto Bread I was very disappointed upon receiving the book. So much added rubbish. Why call it Keto bread when there is minimum on bread & loads of recipes that have nothing to do with breadmaking. I wanted to rip it up & put in recycling bin, however I will keep for now as I have written this review as proof I have this awful book as I am not able to remember when & where I purchased. I now use Diet Doctor, much more straightforward. I get what I ask for. If I wanted a book on breakfast, lunch, dinner & desserts that is what I would have purchased. Definitely would not recommend this book for bread making. I find the title very misleading. Total waste of money for me
Requires Many Specialty (i.e. Expensive) Ingredients
If you have a small budget, you likely won't be making any of these recipes except as an occasional treat (I can't speak to the taste of them since I can't afford to buy the ingredients). Sadly, this seems to be the case for all keto bread products. There just isn't a good low carb substitute for wheat. (Wheat: the real reason humans gave up hunting and gathering.)
I can't wait to try most of them. Blueberry Pastries that look like fancy pop tarts or toaster strudels; naan and curry recipes; soft tortillas and a taco recipe; tiramisu and cheese cake; and on and on. Even sandwich bread that is low carb. I thought unwiches were going to be the only sandwich I could eat.
Loved this book! There were a lot of recipes and a nice variety of them. I love how she incorporated the bread recipes with other recipes. For example, she has an English muffin recipe that she incorporated with a breakfast sandwich recipe. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone on a low carb/ low sugar diet!
If you are on a low carbohydrate diet and absolutely love bread, you know how hard it is to stick to it! This is the solution…low carb bread! Satisfy the bread cravings by making substitutions that the re pies provide.
