Rate this book

Lusciously Nurtured is part memoir, part non-fiction which tracks the author's journey over the last four years with the chronic illness Fibromyalgia. It  contains factual information about CFS, ME and Fibromyalgia and how these illnesses can be confused and possibly differentiated. It offers knowledge of medicines and methods of treatment and provides samples of good practitioners who are addressing the causes of not only Fibromyalgia but also CFS and ME. This work covers a number of self-care concerns including spirituality, relationships, emotions, sexual health, sleep, diet, physical exercise, yoga and coping with change. Lusciously Nurtured, although catering primarily to women suffering from chronic illness, is written for everyone. It provides a detailed and comprehensive program for self-care and insights into intuitive healing that could prove valuable to anyone.

Lusciously Nurtured is a journey wrapped up within the covers of a book. Dawne’s journey through her Fibromyalgia with complications of Diabetes and ME (Chronic Fatigue) is heart-warming, gritty with honesty, and has a compendium of information and tips that will help fellow-sufferers along a similar path. Care-givers and loved ones will no doubt gain empathy for this disability that is often hidden because it is an internal suffering where the sufferer often tries to keep going in as normal a life as possible while drowning in fatigue and pain. It is part memoir and part statistical with her huge gathering of facts, sprinkled with poetry, photography, and recipes. It is also an internal journey where one discovers some of the triggers, often stress induced, as well as the little joys of healing along the way. This can be as simple as watching a squirrel or flower bloom to the days when one wakes up with symptoms diminished for a few hours, the day, or even forever. As a fellow sufferer of Chronic Fatigue and low thyroid, I found myself nodding, tearing up, or smiling over similar experiences and common ways that we’ve healed. I also discovered new tricks to add to my repertoire. Mostly I felt I wasn’t alone on this pathway.

Authentic, informative, and inspirational book about fibromyalgia with excellent points about pain, recipes, and wonderful poems.

Whether you have an official diagnosis or you are just looking for emotional guidance, this is the book for you. From page one you feel like you have an advocate, coach, and best friend guiding you to the person you were truly meant to be. It encourages you to stop waiting for that other day, instead encourages to start where you are.

Dawne's  depth of knowledge is grounded in both personal experiences and researched based facts. Her raw honesty and authentic desire to help others is what makes her book stand apart from others.

I have the greatest privilege to bring a very special book to my page, that I highly recommend you read and can find on Amazon. It’s the deeply autobiographical book of my very dear friend @dawnegzeta and her journey with living and coping with Fibromyalgia and so much more. #@dawnezeta#lusciouslynurtured #amazon#book#fibromyalgia #bookrecommendation#dearfriend

Dawne Gowrie Zetterstrom has taken the experiences of learning to understand and grapple daily with Fibromyalgia and worked alchemy with them. Through deep practice, she has transformed this struggle and learning into ‘Lusciously Nurtured’, a compassionate read on self-understanding and experiencing joy in spite of, or emerging through, challenging circumstances. It is a song of the heart, of transcendence and finding yourself through self-care, wise choices and self-awareness. A valuable read for people with Fibromyalgia, CFS/ME and other chronic conditions, and an inspiring read with nurturing practices for everyone.

I really wanted to like this book. As someone who has fibromyalgia I was keen to read a book which looked at holistic ways of healing. Sadly for me the book was a jumble of poorly described research and theories, mixed with irrelevant recipes, suggestions which are then backtracked and heavily laced with warnings to consult your medical practitioner, bits of self-revelation , aspects of Buddhist practice. None of it was sustained long enough to be of use. It just felt like a disorganised mess. I struggled through it, skipping bits I just found frustrating. In a similar tone, but much better is Linda Popov’s book A Pace of Grace.
