Tick tock, tick tock . . .

It was the countdown to the start of my summer. Two-plus months to do as I pleased, without having to worry about obeying the blaring sound of an alarm clock. Now, I love my second graders. They’re some of the best little people, ever. But, hey . . . Mama needs a break.

And it’s not even like I had some elaborate plans. No trips to paradise, no exotic rendezvous with a sexy man. None of that. I wish, but no. Being a divorcee and an empty nester, my summers weren’t the most exciting. They consisted of lounging around, catching up on my shows, some liquor here, some adult toy action there. Basically, hanging out . . . with me. And I was so ready to be at one, with my solitude.

But then there was the box.

Imagine my surprise when I get home and there’s a box waiting for me at my front door. Its wrapping beautiful, the size kind of big. Initially, I was sure that it was for one of my neighbors; that it had been dropped off at my address by accident.

But then there was a note:

“Time for Recess. No supervision. No bells. No rules. Can you handle it?”

And that’s when I knew that my summer was about to be anything but the norm. That’s if I chose to accept the invitation…

I had up my previous bio for years! It was nice and all, and gave details of my life. But it was so structured! And I’m kinda not. Because of that, I’ve decided to change it to something that really gives you a glimpse into who I am. Is that cool? K, good. So, here goes:

I’m a Bay Area girl. Cali is in my blood! I moved to Vegas in 2017 (No, I wasn’t following the Raiders!) to see how another way of life would be, after my only kid . . . the love of my life . . . decided he was joining the Marines. Can you believe that?! Sigh. Wait, deep sigh! I know some parents await the day for their kids to leave, not this Mama. That was my ace, my bestie in male form. I had to hit the reset button. But here I am. He’s thriving. I’m ‘trying’ to thrive. Lol! No, but really. This relocation was good because I’ve never lived away from home. So, I needed to grow, cultivate a little. It’s working for now.

I consider myself a novelist. And that’s because a novelist doesn’t just write in one genre. For the most part, I write #InterracialRomance, with a primary focus on #BWWM, as my leads. However, I have written a few novels that fell comfortably in the #AfricanAmericanFiction realm, showcasing some #BlackLove. In short, I love building stories. I like to say that I “spin #Sexy and #Suspense into a single web.” The two dynamics have to co-exist in my stories, or I’m bored. And you know if the author is bored with their own work, there’s a problem! Trust me, I’ve done plenty of rewrites when that’s happened.

On my literary journey, I just hope to always write the stories that women find relatable. Characters who are strong, but vulnerable when they need to be. Family-focused, and intelligent. Basically, mirror images of myself. Ironically, writing these characters, have helped me discover things about myself along the way. I think that’s why I write as often as I do. It’s almost like peeling back layers of me as I go. And to stop that process, kind of hits the pause button on me . . . my life . . . my existence. I have to be a moving machine at all times. Does that get stressful? Absolutely. But is it rewarding and are there many teachable moments? Absolutely!

Ever need me, reach out. Ever got questions, I’m never too busy to respond.

Peace & Blessings!
Perri

Now that's Risque!

Heroine, Giselle McCall is a very dedicated 2nd grade teacher whose excited about starting her summer vacation!

DESCRIPTION

No hyper kids to teach and no morning alerts to wake her up for two whole months!

description

Her plans???? description

Well, Giselle has no plans made besides catching up on viewing all her missed TV shows!

description

You got it, nothing really thrilling to do for this divorcee and empty nester until a doting and loving parent gives her a gift certificate to stay at the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas!

description

Now that's most definitely exciting ! But there's more when she gets home because someone has left a huge box on her doorstep

description

and it's something different... very out out of this teacher's norm. Now, the question is will Giselle step out of her boring life and be RISQUE and LIVE !!!!!!

Hell yell she will and then the fun begins!

Read this one because it was sexy as all get out!

And the hero Zane, well you will never forget him or Giselle's loving daughter, Skai's plan to help Stella, (nope, that's another story)... well, Giselle get her groove back!

Pretty Good Start...

Good start, but could also have ended with this book. Not a lot of drama or excitement going on. Hopefully a little bit will come in the next book

Good Read

I just knew Kemeelah was the one that set the stage for Zane and Giselle to meet. Boy was I wrong. I understand Skai wanting her mother to get out of her shell and was only wanting her to move on with her life. What better way to move on than with Zane. I'm glad Giselle came around and decided to give her and Zane a real chance.💙💙

Love it

I could relate to this book after losing yourself in a relationship then one day it’s all over and then you have to learn to trust again put yourself out there Giselle had a daughter who loved her enough to give her a needed nudge and what a man to end up with a great guy Zane

Risqué

Awe inspiring, emotional, wanting more but scared, self crimination for wanting a life, unsure of next move to stop being complacent, daughter stepping in to give a nudge

Will Giselle accept or decline Skai’s offerings
Will Giselle learn to let go and enjoy
Will Zane be able to infiltrate Giselle’s constructed wall

it did make good sense

I read another book but Ms Forrest that was really good, so when I saw this I was so disappointed…the storyline dragged on for day then the meet and it dragged on some more…I started swimming through the book because I just wanted it to be over.

Loved

Spoiler.... I was not expecting the daughter to be behind the hook up between Giselle and Zane. I love it though. She realized what her mother needed, and found it.

Interesting start 3.5 stars

I’m disappointed that it was clear from the start that it was a hfn. Given that the book is a 2 parter at least I fell that this book should have delved more into who they are and their background. At the moment the book reads more like a extended hookup rather than the beginning of a relationship. For Instance we know that Giselle is 42 but how old is Zane? Where did he come from? What’s his past? Giselle’s marriage collapsed, her guys and cheated but how did that relationship go? Did they just stop loving each other? Basically Giselle and Zane slept together but didn’t communicate and these characters development was seriously lacking. Waiting for the next installment

This is a great read with an awesome storyline that has well developed and engaging characters that have lots of chemistry. The smooth flow of the storyline makes for a good reading time.

Another Hit!!

Perri never disappoints. I get so mad because I just want to sit and read her books from start to finish because I know they are going to be juicy and it never happens. It's ok though, because when I do get to the end, I'm always left satisfied. Well done!

This was a great story. I thought the story was very well written and flowed well. The story kept me glued to the pages to see how everything would turn out. I loved the characters and had this read in one sitting.

Loved it!

I enjoyed the storyline very much.I loved the characters but the mom seems a little childish in my opinion. The daughter acted more mature than the mother.
