Love on Fire

Neil Crimson is back from his mission. We promised we would just be friends, to keep our hands to ourselves and have a platonic relationship.

But I haven't been with anyone since he's been gone...and I miss him so much. When he walks in the door, he's just as strong and handsome as I remember. He's a little thinner than before, but still regal and powerful. When I look at Neil Crimson, I don't see a friend...I see the best I've ever had.

But it could never happen again.

Until one night when he shows up on my doorstep...and says I'm the best he's ever had too.

I’m in a bit of shock with that ending. I’ve never read a book where a couple has an expiration date before they even began. The fact that these two were still willing to be together knowing Neil was leaving after a year, just shows how much the pull was for them. And Kyle! Poor Kyle! I wouldn’t call this a love triangle but the author threw in a wrench with him. It’s killing me to not know when the next book will be out cause I gotta know how this turns out. I’m not sure how many books will be in this series but you do need to read book one first.

The second book in this series was much better than the first (but once again Todd doesn't want readers to forget about those breathtaking bodies as she continues her descriptions ad nauseam). The plot definitely thickens as the relationship sizzles. Lots of interaction between all the characters in this one that upped the interest as well.

There's another deadly cliffhanger awaiting at the end so be prepared.

Oh my, this picks up with Neil in space and Charlotte knowing she is only going to be friends with Neil so trying to meet someone else.
Neil comes back from space and can Neil and Charlotte just be friends. Can there feelings be prevented?
My emotions were all over the place with this story, Neil has an important mission to do and can he confess his true feelings to Charlotte? I had to read this book from beginning to end in 1 sitting. I couldn’t put it down and how the book ended I need the next one quickly. A brilliant series and keeps you gripped from page 1 to the end.

This book left my heart in my throat. The emotion is incredible. I love the aspect of an astronaut that refuses to give up his dreams but realized the very last minute he may have just given up the one thing he wants more. It's a beautiful yet unconventional love story and I can't wait to see where the next book takes us. The writing hooks you from the very beginning making you finish the book in one sitting. You won't be able to get enough. The cover also is so fitting and unique. I now have to wait on pins and needles for the next book but I know it will be worth every second.

This is certainly a story of star crossed lovers. they’re so meant to be but they are in vastly different places in their lives with different wants for the future. If Charlotte wasn’t so understanding of what Neil truly needed in his life and if Neil wasn’t so focused on what else is out there in space, I think that we could have a wonderful love story.

We pick back up right after Neil’s come home from his mission to the moon. It’s been three months and while we expect things to change, we hope they stay the same. Unfortunately there’s been a lot of change.

Charlotte’s moved out of Neil’s house and has bought her own house – she’s laid the groundwork for her own positive future. She’s living her best life and seems to be in a good place with things. She worries and cares about Neil but also wants to stay true to their deal.

Vic and Stacy promised to start a family, and that’s what happens – she’s pregnant and we watch how that news affects and changes Charlotte since we know that her marriage fell apart because she wasn’t able to have kids. (at least that’s what we were told)

So Neil comes back, and we learn that he’s still focused on Charlotte. That makes us happy but at the same time we know that there’s complications that will come of it. Stacy and Vic really don’t want them to be together since it’s clear that their futures hold different things, and we even see Charlotte and Neil fight the feelings that they have for one another. It becomes too hard to do and they agree that they’re going to try again. To be more than just friends since that’s what is natural.

We’re all hoping for the happy ending, but we know that there is a secret mission that Neil’s got on the docket and we know that it’ll only mean heartbreak for Charlotte.

There’s another story line here where we watch Cameron (Char’s ex) come back to her after his pregnant girlfriend loses their baby. He realizes what he had and he wants her back. The question arises will she take him back.

then there’s Kyle – we know that he’s in love with her and we watch that cause problems. He makes his move and she pushes him away and then we see him try again. Complications!

Where we net in this story is a baby is born, a baby is on the way, someone leaves and lots of people are heartbroken. There’s a big question mark on where this story will go and I wonder if anyone will be happy, if people will survive and what the outcome of this wrong way love story will go. I just got book 3 so i’m diving right in

Oh my!!! That is all I can say about this book!! I fell in love with ALL the characters in the first book, (except Cameron), and this one just makes me love them so much more!! I was in an emotional high the entire book until the end when Neil and Charlotte are dealing with his upcoming departure. This book had me experiencing so many different emotions at once! I knew that The connection between Char and Neil was too strong to allow them to just remain friends, and was on edge in the beginning just waiting to see when it would happen, what would put them over the edge, and who would make the first move!!

I was torn between wanting her to pursue this relationship with Neil, and getting together with Kyle. Kyle is perfect for her in so many ways. His deep and unconditional love for her breaks my heart for him! I cried as their friendship took so many different rocky turns from perfect to null.

I can’t wait to see what happens in book 3! We are left with a telephone call with some pretty amazing information, and a cliffhanger ending! What will come of Charlotte and her recent discovery? Was Meil in fact the man leading the crew? Will Cameron give up or keep trying to get Charlotte back? What will come of Charlotte and Kyle? Will Neil and Hyde make it back from Mars? ... So many questions to be answered....

Omg! It was so good but, then again, I've not read an E.L. Todd book I didn't love. Neil is back and hopefully both Neil & Char can pick up the pieces and make it work.

The men are all misogynist but I'm invested in the story

I dislike myself for becoming invested in this. Charlotte is so mixed up; in love with Neil but thinking she should have chosen Kyle because he's a more favourable candidate in the long run, but disillusioned with love because she no longer believes in it since her sure bet ex husband left her. Her contradictory behaviour is ridiculous. Her friend, Stacy, has morphed into a 1950s housewife with a husband very happy with his pregnant tradwife, at home all day cooking and cleaning. Neil has always been closed off emotionally but has fallen in love with Charlotte, and doesn't tell her because he is going on a 3 year space mission and thinks it's selfish of him. Then there's Kyle; Charlotte's friend who is also in love with her and spouts gems like "having a hot spouse makes a woman appreciate him more and work harder to keep him happy" my eyes nearly rolled to the back of my head with that one. Plus, everyone is sooo hot in looks and physique and the men, of course, have incredible staying power and the women should be ecstatic that they want to have sex with them every night. I've read Mills and Boons back in the day that were more progressive than this. Must admit I didn't see the twist coming, and I really hope Charlotte doesn't fall into her situation necessitating a male presence because heaven forbid a woman can be successful alone in those circumstances.

Author books seem similarly in characters with different plot lines I don't know my reason for being hooked on her books but I am .

I don't understand why Charlotte's friends are always trying to talk her out of being with Neil she loves him even if there relationships has to end . Shouldn't you be happy for your friends even if there's hardship or heartbreak down the line. Why do her friend's keep trying to get her to go out with the safe bet when she tells them she has know chemistry with Kyle. This is the third series I've read from this author I don't know what it is about her books that hook me like a fish because they have alot of similarities with different plot lines . Example the main character seem to always have brown hair and green eyes can eat what ever she want hardly goes to the gym but has a drop dead body and be as nice as apple pie . The man character never wants a relationship and has a big package. The friend's never seem to want her with the Main Man .

Love on Fire (Stars Book 2)

Oh my... This story just gets better and better as I read it. Exciting, funny and had lots so chemistry between Neil and Charlotte. Finally falling in love, but neither one of them told each other that they loved each other. Neil was preparing or a new mission that would take a year to get ready for, unable to tell his family where they were going until the vet last moment. Charlotte has fallen in love with Neil and then she finds out from her ex husband that she isn't the one who is unable to have a baby. She finds herself pregnant with Neil's baby. But, she didn't tell him because he was on a three year mission to Mars! This story was simply amazing to read and I can't wait to read the last book in this series. E. l. Todd has done a outstanding job in writing this story. ENJOY!!!

1. Who uses the word “barren” these days?
2. Why do the FMCs in so many of these books have best friends that think they know what’s best for her and try to guilt/convince/coerce her into it instead of supporting her choices the way a good friend should? Stacy was actually hostile toward Charlotte because she refused to take Stacy’s advice and start dating Kyle.
3. Both Stacy and Vic were terrible friends. No matter what their intentions, they should NOT have broken their friends’ confidences.
4. “I knew we weren’t seeing other people, but we weren’t necessarily exclusive either.” Um, what?
5. Charlotte was WAY too quick to forgive Kyle for the awful way he treated her.
6. If it turned out that it was Cameron that wasn’t able to father a child, how did he get Vivian pregnant?

Just as good as the first installment!

I often find myself being disappointed by sequels, but not this one. It's comfy that we already know the main characters, more detail just makes us more sympathetic to the trials of the characters and enhances the story. I don't know if anyone else does this, but I always try to put a face to the character. My face for Neil is Kevin Costner's about the time of his movie "No Way Out." Anyone else have a face for Neil?

what is wrong with people.

I am actually tired of all the lies that people keep from each other. He doesn’t tell her he loves her and she doesn’t tell him and in the end everyone makes these assumptions and thinks they are doing the right thing by keeping info from each other. It frightens me that this crap happens in real life. Well I’m gonna read the next one and hope it’s better.

Phew! This was so intense! My heart ached from the very first chapter. It's filled with angst and very strong emotions. I knew this would end in a cliffhanger and usually I would knock off at least one star because of that, but this is a five-star read all the way. One of E. L. Todd's best, and I can't wait to jump right into the conclusion of this wonderfully complex story.

oh my goodness!

These two have finally made it together, it there’s a time limit on it. Love is in the air and neither is willing to admit their feelings to the other. Then he’s off and she’s found out some news that she doesn’t know how to deal with. Cannot wait to see what’s next!

Fantastic series

A continuation of book 1, I loved seeing Neil and Char in a committed relationship. I'm happy that they got a year together, also happy that Cameron apologized although a little too late. Hearing he was the one who had fertility issues made me happy for Char and I'm excited to see where it goes now that she's pregnant.

Beautifully angsty

I never write reviews, but this series has me utterly captivated! The character development is exceptional, to the point that I can feel their thoughts and emotions as if they were my own. I've shed many tears from books 1 &2. I'm almost afraid to read book 3...but I HAVE to! Hands down, the best series I've ever read!

Ok wow.
I had a suspicion something like this would happen. But for it to be a mix up by the on is super dumb. Especially since they were having sex for over a year.

Still so many similarities with The Doctor series.
But still good.

However, with this news, if the next book goes the way I think it’s going to go, I’m going to HATE the next book.

More of their story

Continuing on with their story makes their relationship even more special. Regrets happen, truths come out, people move on. Love grows but is never admitted. Looking forward to see how this ends

Love on Fire book 2

Love on Fire takes you through the next year of the characters lives. A lot of things happen. Some good and others questionable. Stacy's pregnancy for one. I'm still reading onto the next book. Hopefully it'll end they way I'm hoping, time will tell.
