1. Never date a student. 2. Never use my real name. 3. Never stay the night.
After a hot, one night stand with Paige, I'm breaking all my rules.
And now—as she sits in my lecture hall—I'm completely distracted by the memories of her writhing beneath me, moaning my name.
This is going to be one hell of a long semester.
Paige Flores’ rules for school:
1. Complete my degree in record time. 2. Don’t get distracted by anyone or anything. 3. Above all else, do not end up knocked up and alone—like my mother did.
Finally giving up my V-card to the funny, hot, one night stand I met at the club last week was the best time I've ever had.
But I have goals and dreams in my sights. The last thing I need is to be sidetracked by a hot guy.
And now—as he stands at the front of the lecture hall as the professor for a class I'll do anything to pass—Professor Jake Richter has me breaking all my rules.
PROFESSOR RICHTER’S RULES is a student/teacher romance, and the second book in the LEARNING TO LOVE SERIES.
It was supposed to be a one-night stand. For Jake Richter, well that’s cos how he rolls, and as for Paige Flores, she was on a mission to lose her V Card…
"That was the problem. I had spent my whole life being good. Now I felt the sudden, distinct desire to be bad. With him."
Paige is aware of the price of being an uneducated single mother; she just needs to look back at her family tree. Planning not to be another statistic, she is studious and does her utmost to stay away from temptation. But with high school behind her, what’s the harm with having a little fun?
"He tasted like bourbon and bad decisions. Which was good because right now I wanted to make some very poor decisions."
After meeting over drinks, Paige finds herself at Jake’s place. Even though they spend an incredible night together, it’s shrouded in white lies since neither are looking for anything long term. It should have been simple until Paige finds herself as a college student under none other than Professor Richter. And he’s not impressed. Unfortunately, mistakes and regrets can make jerks out of the nicest of people, especially once Jake realises that the player got played.
When Jake’s retribution backfires, he is tasked with tutoring Paige. These new circumstances and close proximity will play havoc with their plan of staying away from each other. Now even though I found the storyline and ending predictable, there is genuine sweetness behind Jessa York’s writing. From the cast of characters, the friendships, humour, the hint of forbidden and plain old fashion romance, I quite enjoyed this.
Oh my gosh!!! This is one of the steamiest, cutest teacher/student romances I’ve EVER read! I couldn’t get enough of Jake and Paige!
’He tasted like bourbon and bad decisions. Which was good because right now I wanted to make some very poor decisions.’
When a one-night stand leads to absolutely nothing at all, Paige/Mindy and Jake are shocked to learn they are now student and teacher. But with one too many lies and a host of rules to live by, this couple know they need to stay far, far away from each other. However, fate and Jake’s bad attitude doesn’t allow it.
Holy heck did I love Paige! I’ve said it before, I’m all about the hero while the heroine usually isn’t much of a blip on my radar, but not so Paige. She was just so freaking cute, witty and fun. With a strict guideline to live by, you’d think she’d be pretty uptight. Not so. She knew how to enjoy life in the moment even if she hadn’t necessarily always done so. I loved that she captivated Jake immediately and wasn’t a push over.
Jake was INCREDIBLE!!! He knew as soon as he laid eyes on Paige that he wanted her. But man, oh man, did she lead him on a merry chase! Almost immediately, he’s breaking every one of his rules and he could care less. And when it came time to fess up to his own jerkish ways, he more than did so. I loved how he was all about Paige even when he was struggling with himself.
’Life had pretty much killed my desire for anything unexpected. With Mindy, though? I couldn’t wait to see what she’d come up with.’
This couple were so freaking cute together! Never in the history of romance have a read a scene like the board game this couple play. I laughed and grinned so much my cheeks hurt. They were absolutely perfect together. I’d love to have them as friends both individually and together.
While this has some angst and relationship drama, it’s tempered with this author’s trademark humor. I once more fell in love, and more, with some of the secondary characters introduced in Mr. Marshall’s Methods. (Rest assured; this book can be read as a complete standalone.) The chemistry between Paige and Jake absolutely sizzles through the pages and holy heck, were they HOT together…and alone (wink wink).
This is definitely one of the most enjoyable reads I’ve experienced in some time and I can’t recommend it enough if you love rom-coms and/or teacher/student romances! And if you’ve never tried either, or this author, this is the one to dive into!
We met Paige in the first book - one of Holly’s best friends....I remember her being a very diligent student to help her mom out, due to their circumstances, but only went out when her friends insisted😇
Paige and Alex decide to hit up a club and as per one of Alex’s games, Paige has to initiate contact and this person happens to be the ultra sexy Jake. After spending a night together, they meet again under VERY different circumstances...oh boy - he’s her professor🤩
This story was amazing and blew me away❣️It was funny, has wonderful characters and a bit of everything one could expect in a relationship when just starting out with highs and lows, secrets and surprises😉 A not to be missed story by Jessa that I would consider reading more than once❤️ Thank you to Jessa for my advanced copy for which I voluntarily leave my honest review 😍
You might think it'd be someone's worst nightmare to suddenly have their one night stand show up in their classroom as a student, and you'd be right. Jake Richter is living a nightmare! Mind you it's one of his own making, right? He should've walked away from the younger girl that night in the club, but the attraction was too strong, the pull too great, and the chemistry so obvious that no sane man could have dared to turn a blind eye.
Jake Richter lives life by a set of rules. If only he could enforce them on himself! Gah...how easy his life would be. Not gonna lie folks, it doesn't look good for Professor Richter. He's in deep trouble. Trouble has found our friend Jake (Evan's friend from Mr. Marshall's Methods), and he is about to eat all of those words of advice that he had for his buddy. Where is the wisdom when you need it most, am I right Jake?! You're starting to see why Evan couldn't tear himself away from Holly aren't you? I knew it was only a matter of time before you'd be putty in someone's hands. LOL!
Enter...the beautiful Paige Flores' to turn his classroom and his life upside down. While there is an age gap between Paige and Jake, it isn't one that readers may find uncomfortable, giving this storyline the makings of one enjoyable read. Oh Lord...the steam factor was STRONG between these two!🔥 While Jake was a tad older, Paige knew how to handle herself in his presence, and the two just clicked. She was a heroine that had so much to offer in spite of her innocence. Paige was fun and had a solid sense of humor. She embraced life despite the rules put in place for her own life. She stood up for herself and wasn't about to let Jake dent her self worth or make her feel inferior. My kinda gal! She made Jake work for his continued involvement with her, and Jake lived up to the challenge in stellar fashion! I loved seeing this side of him! 💕
Book 2 can be read as a standalone, without ruining any aspect of the storyline. There are no leftovers from book 1 that carry over into this book regarding Jake or Paige. However; we do get glimpses of Jake's personality in book 1 that enhanced my personal reading experience of this book. For all of his BIG TALK towards Evan in Mr. Marshall's Methods, it was fun to see him struggle with his own precarious position and feelings for Paige.
Once again, a terrific romance read that was just angsty enough to keep me interested, and funny enough that I laughed out loud over and over again. A worthwhile read if you love age gap romances and flirty heroes determined to get their girl! Loved it. ❤️
Paige meets Jake while at a bar playing a game with her best friend. They are crazy attracted to each other and when the fire alarm goes off and they are soaked by the sprinklers, she ends up going home with him. After a passion filled night, she leaves him with a fake name and phone number. She is starting college and has no time for a guy, no matter how handsome or sweet, to interfere with her studies. Jake, on the other hand, went against her own rules; gave his real name, took her to his house, and asked for her number to see her again. He was enamored. He was frustrated and angry she gave him the slip, which was usually his MO.
Imagine his shock, as well as her's, when he walks into the lecture hall of the Calculus Class he is teaching and Paige is taking. He behaves horribly to Paige and my heart broke for her at her humiliation. He wants her to drop out, but his plan back fires on him.
There are plenty more steamy hot private sessions between these two, a fiance, interfering parents, and a big surprise. I loved these two together, and the friends they both have are just the best. We get to see Holly and Evan from Mr Marshall's Methods (Book #1) where we first met Paige.
This book was a fast and very entertaining read and I highly recommend it. Looking forward to the next book in this series about George.
*Read more of my reviews at Whoo Gives A Hoot* RULES ARE MADE TO BE BROKEN...even if it means falling in love with someone you would least expect!
Professor Richter's Rules is the second standalone in Jessa York's highly anticipated Learning to Love series and I can't even begin to tell you all how I have wholeheartedly fallen in love with this new couple and their romance. The author's storytelling ability was breathtakingly beautiful and the characters stole a large piece of my heart. Forbidden romances are EVERYTHING to me and this student/teacher is one of my favorites!
Whoever would have thought that Mindy (aka Paige Flores) and Jake Richter's steamy one night stand would turn into a complicated mess. Their story was the perfect balance of passion and humor with some moments that had your soul swooning in overdrive. These two were always destined to find their way back to each other even if there were some major obstacles standing in their way. You could almost feel that intense chemistry they shared radiating from the pages. Their story was insanely addictive and I couldn't help but devour all the words in one sitting because that is just how I roll when it comes to forbidden romance.
This story was absolutely amazing and I love all the twists and turns that Jessa York threw our way. Just when I thought I had things all figured out, she shocked me to the core. I just couldn't get enough and now I can't freaking wait for the next standalone in the series!!!
Paige and Jake had such chemistry from jump. Sure, they had a disastrous reunion after their first night together, and sure, I wanted to junk punch Jake about 20 times while my heart broke for Paige, but I couldn’t stop reading their story because I KNEW that this author would make all of that pain and misery worth it in the end. Jake just needed to get his act together and prove his worth to Paige. And he did that wonderfully. Between getting to re-know each other, trying desperately to understand the misery of math, and wishing they could fight their attraction to each other, Paige and Jake had quite the bumpy road to travel, but they found their way to each true happiness together.
I absolutely adored Paige and her resilience, as well as her refusal to be a dirty secret or doormat. She knew that she had to succeed in life and nothing, not even the man she shouldn’t love or want, would make her fail. It helped that she found a champion in George, who took on the role of defender and friend when Paige so desperately needed both. And Jake certainly needed to be taken down a notch or ten before being truly worthy of Paige and all that she had to offer.
In the end, comedy and love came together to win the day and secure the future for Paige and Jake. I can’t wait to revisit these two when it comes time to see who manages to deserve all that is George. And that’s a not so subtle hint that I NEED George’s story, too. So well played, Jessa. You gave me all I wanted and then some, then kept me wanting even more! Well. Played.
Once upon a time in reader land- Jessa York wrote a book that was so exciting I couldn’t believe it when it ended! It had heart, soul, love, laughter and friendships that stand the test of time!
It makes you gasp at those surprise moments, cry at the heart pulling moments and cause your bladder to be tested! In a book you want to feel these things as it means the author was feeling them too!
I wish really I could give it more then five stars!
This book is an awesome story about an older man and a younger woman. However, it’s not a huge age gap. She is sweet, confident, intelligent and inexperienced. He is very smart and with lots of experience. They meet by chance and have a one-night stand. They aren’t really together for many reasons, but turns out they have much in common. I loved how it all turned out, though I still have some questions about his job. So far, I think this is my favorite book of this series. ♥️
Thank you to the author for the book in exchange for a review. I'm incredibly thankful for the authors that, like Jessa, who have been there for me while I was navigating the new world I live in. Being there waiting for me to be ready to read.
Back to the world that Jessa creates, teachers and students. Sure it's taboo but isn't that half the fun?
Paige is out with her friend, Alex, and they play the game they always do, "Who would you?" She's not shocked by Alex's choice but her choice is. He's beautiful and way out of her league she thinks. But of everyone in the club, he's her pick. Now the rules are after you pick the person you have to make contact somehow. It can be a casual brush against them or talking to them. Alex isn't going to let it go so she has to do this. Paige generally has her nose stuck in a book, boys haven't interested her. This man, he has her enamored.
Jake is hanging out at the club, and he sees a curvy girl that snags his attention. He knows the game she's playing with her friend and he's happy to see that she chose him as her "who would you?". He picked her as his!
Names are exchanged, maybe not the correct ones but names none the less. They dance and have a good time until a fire alarm goes off and they have to make their way out of the club. Wet and cold they find Alex and she goes home with Jake. It feels like its the right decision.
I loved this book. Their passion is electric and jumps off the page. I also love that while they didn't have a conventional relationship, Jake didn't jerk her around once they were together. He was all in and Paige was the one holding back a bit.
Unicorns, and mood rings, this story has everything in it to keep you entertained. Jake and Paige have a connection and not just a physical one. You get to see the characters from the first book of this series, Mr. Marshall's Method. I don't think you have to read that before you read Professor Richter's story but I would suggest it because you'll be a little lost when they talk about Holly and Evan.
If you read this book, or really any other book, share your love for the book and the author by writing a review. It doesn't have to be a big one, just a few words and share the book on your social media.
I read and loved the first book in this series and the second was no different! This story is about Jake and Paige whose lives were intertwined in so many ways. They meet at a bar and eventually have a one night stand, then afterwards realize he is her college professor. Jake wants her to drop the class but Paige is stubborn. Without giving too much away Jake has to tutor her in calculus and she can't drop the class, making avoiding each other impossible. They get thrown plenty of curveballs throughout the book. I really enjoyed their personalities and the humor they each brought to the table. We were reunited with characters from the first book and met Georgia who will get her book next. All in all this was a fun read with plenty of steam.
Highly entertaining! One night. No one admits who they really are. But that one night is amazing. Then, he is her calculus teacher. A bid to drive her from his class, ends with a threat to his position unless she passes – a different teacher’s final exam. Private tutoring never was so adversarial and hot.
Great set of circumstances, and the reader is treated to each viewpoint. Equal parts humor, romance and struggle, creating a superior result!
**I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book**
Yes! Yes! Yes! This is a steamy forbidden student/teacher read. The characters are amazing, especially together, and the storyline is great! This is a definite must read. This is part of a series but it could be read alone.
I loved this book! I have been dying for Jake and Paige's story forever and it was everything I hoped it would be. The plot was fast-paced and kept me glued to my Kindle. It was a quick, fun read that had all the forbidden heat I love. Jake and Paige were perfect. I will definitely be recommending this book to everyone!
I couldn't stop smiling and laughing while also being frustrated. Paige and Jake should not be together when they realize they are professor and student but their chemistry is so off the charts that neither can stay away. Paige is smart and funny and no pushover. Jake is all male but admits when he is wrong. I enjoyed this so much.
Omg! Another great book by Jessa York. I love all her books and this was no different. Loved Jake and Paige's story. They were breaking all the rules. Definitely a page turner.
This was such an amazing book!! I loved everything about it. It was cute, funny, steamy and love filled. I was laughing out loud in parts and awwing in others. I absolutely adored the ending. I can not wait to read what is next for Jessa
Loved Jake and Paige! They went through it a bit. Loved the start. Lol. So many surprises. This book had me from beginning to the end. I couldn’t put it down. Loved the Evan and Holly update. All around hot and awesome read.
I say it with every single book, and I mean exactly what I say. Jessa York just keeps getting better and better with each new story she writes.
This is Paige and Jake’s story, and if you read Mr. Marshall’s Method, you were introduced to them in that book.
There were moments that I laughed, and moments that I cried. Which I totally didn’t expect, but it made for an even more amazing read. The side characters are on point, as always. I was left completely satisfied with an amazing love story, and so happy that I was able to visit old favorite characters once again.
This book will definitely be one that I reread again, and again.
You are gonna love this book. It had me laughing and shocked at times. It's a great follow up to Mr. Marshall's Method as this is Paige and Jake's story. If you have read it you know that Jake has rules he lives by and can't seem to keep now . Lol
Professor Richter's Rules by Jessa York is a contemporary, new adult, forbidden student/teacher romance told in first person, dual POV. Although it's book two in the Learning to Love series, it can be read as a standalone.
When Jake and Paige meet, their chemistry is off the charts. They leave together and end up having a hot one-night stand, but neither are completely honest about themselves. Imagine their suprise when a week later, Paige is a student in Jake's aka Professor Richter's calculus class. Will they be able to stay away from each other? Read to find out.
I enjoyed Paige and Jake's story. It was steamy, fun, and full of humor. Looking forward to the next book.
This story is hot! Sweet, steamy, forbidden romance. Paige is out with her friend, Alex, and she meets Jake. Instant connection! They go back to his house and have an unconventional night with board games! I loved this part! Paige is a virgin and she wants to not be a virgin, but she is a bit shy soooo they play Monopoly and Battleship! Paige does get her wish, only to get a big surprise in one of her college classes. I really loved how Paige has a plan and she really wants to stick to it, but things are easier said than done. She is a great heroine who is caring and loyal. I loved that she wanted to give back to her mother. Jake is also very loyal and my heart broke for what he went through with that other girl. I loved seeing Evan, Holly, Alex, and Ivy again. I also loved the addition of George, that girl has a story I can't wait to read! This has everything that makes a great book, awesome writing, wonderful characters, steamy, and so funny! One that had me rolling was, “Okay, so you’re a unicorn and I’m a—stallion?” Great job Jessa York, I can't wait for the next one! I was given the opportunity to read a copy of this book.
Paige Flores and Jake Richter sees each other from across the room at a bar. Immediately smitten with one another, she spends an unforgettable night with him. After giving a fake name and number, she’s shocked to see him standing at the front of her calculus class as her professor.
Jake is angry when he sees the girl he spent the night with sitting in his class. He’s even more angry when he finds out she’s lied to him about her name. After being duped and lied to, he has to do whatever it takes to get her to drop his class. Unfortunately his plan backfires and he’s now forced to be her tutor.
Both have secrets which have a way of eventually being discovered. Will they be able to move forward once everything is out in the open?
Jake was a jerk after finding out the truth, but he isn’t perfect either. After Paige discovers secret after secret, she has to decide if she can trust him. This was a great read and can’t wait to read George’s story!
I would definitely suggest reading book 1 in the series first which is Mr. Marshall's Methods. In this one we have Paige's story, who is one of Holly's best friends. Paige ends up hooking up with who turns out to be a college prof though she was unaware he was a prof at the time. Paige has a plan for her life and is determined to fulfill that plan. Jake, after humiliating Paige has to get his act together to prove what kind of man he truly is & that he deserves Paige. I loved catching up with the other characters in the series as well.
I absolutely love this author! Page and Jake story was heart clenching, I love the humor! Made Me Laugh so many times like crazy! I was carried away brought memories back from my high school to college days. Highly recommend!!! I’m hooked!
"Professor Richter's Rules" (Learning to Love Book 2) by Jessa York is a fantastic read. I loved Jake and Paige's story. This is a wonderful addition to this series, packed with romance, passion, humor, close friends, entertaining characters, and more. I can not wait to see what happens next with this entertaining cast of characters. Highly recommend to all fans of romance, close friends, and series.
