I've read a few other Elise Faber books, and I know that I can generally count on her books to fun, funny, interesting and one-sit reads.
Rum and Notes is the start of a new series - Love After Midnight. It follows Brooke, a shy, quiet romance writer, and her unwitting muse, Kace, a hot, tattoed, thoughtful bartender that works at the bar in which she writes her novels.
Brooke sees herself as a shy plain Jane, but Kace sees her as beautiful and intriguing. While Brooke has been using Kace as inspiration for the leading men in her books, Kace has been harboring a crush on Brooke.
The connection between Brooke and Kace was evident from the first chapter, and it was great to see how their relationship unfolds. Kace is a sexy, protective, sweet alpha male that wants only to take care of Brooke and teach her how beautiful she is.
It's a bit of a slow burn, but it's also relatively short, so it's not that slow of a burn. Well-written, clever and addicting.
