Take a little time and enjoy Nicholas. Nicholas is like many children these days. He is constantly on the move. His schedule is filled with violin lessons, karate lessons, swimming lessons, figure skating lessons, and so many different types of lessons. All the poor boy seems to hear is “hurry up, you’ll be late for your next lesson”.

Nicholas’ parents mean well. They want their son to have access to a lot of different experiences. The problem is that the boy has no time to rest let alone play and have fun. Maybe that’s a lesson we should all learn.

This book is along the same lines as The Busy Life of Ernestine Buckmeister. It's only appropriate that this is a topic that gets written about. From the discussions in our class it sounds like Nicholas and Ernestine aren't the only ones who struggle with an over-scheduled life!

We had a good laugh at Nicholas and at the surprise ending in this book.

This "easy reader" children's picture book in Spanish is good for seeing various verb tenses in the context of the story. Just my level of Spanish!

Nicholas finds that taking part in 4 different after-school activities each night of the week (and more on weekends!) is just too exhausting! The solution his parents arrive at is surprising.
