Madison was hardly more than a child when stolen from Earth—a fact that she resents to no end. Ripped away from all she ever knew, she’s reluctant to be the princess her family expects her to be. Tired of living out someone else’s happily ever after, Madison reaches her breaking point when kidnapped by another kingdom. She’s done with spaceships, done with otherworldly planets, and she sure as hell is done with aliens. She spent years dreaming of Earth, never daring to believe it to be anything more than a childish fantasy. But all that changes when a cocky guard comes to her rescue.
She strikes a deal with the green-skinned alien, and while it might not be a completely honest one, what does it matter when he holds the key to finally making all her dreams come true?
Kethian isn’t exactly honest himself. Intrigued by the aloof princess with a reputation for being spoiled and ungrateful, Kethian can’t help but make a deal at the expense of his kingdom. He tells himself it’s just another adventure, but that’s a lie not even he believes.
One last journey through space and Madison is home free. Will Earth be all she remembers, or will it pale in comparison to the bond she discovers in The Frog Prince?

Confession: I didn't love Madison when we first met her. Actually, it was when we first met her as an adult. She came across as immature and ungrateful and it was hard to see where she was coming from. But then...the more Keth drew her out, the more her loneliness and sense of not belonging began to unfold and suddenly I wasn't disliking her.
Cherishing flawed childhood memories and clinging to a past that are tinted by years of longing and loneliness can make a person less than receptive to what they have in the present. Madison wasn't ungrateful, really. She was confused and lonely and had been held back by her mother's fear of what could happen and it all combined to make her seem cold and unlikable when, really, she was warm and sweet when she got a chance to unburden herself.
(No lie, her later interactions with her mother got me a little choked up. While I completely understand where her mother was coming from when she went into overprotective mama-mode and basically locked Madison down because of her past experiences, it was hard to watch them both come to terms with it. But that's another story for another day.)
Meanwhile, we have Kethian and his lie of omission that nearly cost him everything. The lie sucked, but I can see why he hid the truth from her. Having someone see him and treat him like a real person instead of a product of his lineage was freeing. Plus, he liked her and grabbed onto every chance he could to spend more time with her.
The princess who didn't want to be and the frog prince. They went together far better than I expected them to and I liked it!
The heroine is a whiny, self centered, spoiled brat (can't even call her a bitch, since her mental development seems to have halted at the age of 12 and I don't feel comfortable calling children bitches (but I guess I could say that her behaviour is bitchy)). Couldn't even get through the fourth chapter. There's 38 chapters...
Kind of a shame, since what little I "saw" of the hero, I liked. Oh well, you win some, you lose some, I guess.
well I wouldn't say this book is bad, but I didn't enjoy this one as much as the other Cosmic Fairy Tale stories I've read.
I think maybe because the romance was not that compelling for me. I mean the h has just went through a kidnapping, and is running away from home, is dealing with family issues, dealing with having a friend for the the first time, and coming to the realization that her hopes and dreams might not be all that she wished for...all the while falling into a quick romance with some guy she just met.
Maybe I would feel better if the h had some or any romantic experience before getting together with this guy- because to me it just felt rushed as hell, and although she was 22, her emotional growth seemed to be more on par with a teenager.
I’ve never felt this way before, and after Kethian leaves…I’ll never feel this way again. “There’s nothing after you,” I mutter.
I mean come on. She went from having her first time -to lets go on a 'honeymoon' -to lets get married. All with in a span of what...a few weeks?
I felt kind of like-- I wish she had time to have a little more life experience before committing to someone forever that she barely knew...and pretty much the only person she connected with since she was a child because she was so sheltered.
So def maybe it just me on this one, but its on KU if you want a quick fun romance read.
I have been reading this series, and I must say this book was fabulous !!! This book is about Madison. As a little girl , her Mother has been kidnapped. One night when she is a tween ( or close to it ) her Mother comes to get her. Come to find out , her Mom had been abducted by Aliens, and she has come all the way back to take Madison Back with her to Outer space !! She will be a Princess - what little girl hasn't dreamt of that ?? But , of course, it's Nothing like she imagined !! Poor Madison , because of her Mothers fear isolated. Not in a mean kind of way . But her Mother lives in mortal fear of Madison being kidnapped too. So , while there are plenty of pretty dresses and dances and tutors, she has no friends. Boring !!!! Until it isn't !! In a crazy turn of events ,( that were not actually described .....:+(( ) Madison finds herself needing rescued .
Kethian, is a Prince but he managed security for his family. On an investigation of a councilman ' s home, he finds Madison!! After the rescue , she switches the tables, Kidnapping HIM !!! He finds out that the thing she wants most is to go Home ...Back to Earth !!!! I found this book to be funny , light hearted, and full of introspection. A marvelous read !! Now I am off to the next in this series !!!
Did not finish: got 20% of the way through. I'm sure this 21 year old heroine has a lot of growing up to do during the story, but she's such a whiny brat I see zero defining qualities that would allow me to enjoy her growth.
The author can write, there aren't any noticeable typos, the hero's fine, the dialogue is okay. It's just such a middle school plot I can't even. There is an interpretation of the core fairytale, I'm sure, but at 20% in--it ain't great.
1.5 stars This book had so much potential and instead the author decided to make it about a spoiled girl whose only motivation was earth treats being mean and racist. It's not a full one because the love interest and side characters were nice and honestly, the biggest crime of this book is how annoying the main character was and how not believable the romance was.
Dnf. Couldn't get past heroine's spoiled, ungrateful,*itchy, extremely childish behavior... who could be obsessed w justin bieber and kissing posters as an adult???.
Some reviewers have complained about the h (Madison), but I think her character and way of thinking is reasonable given the circumstances. Probably, if I met her in this fantasy world, I wouldn’t like her but with the magic of books, I can understand her reactions and the thoughts/feelings behind them. She isn’t an altruistic heroine - she’s a young adult that feels like she doesn’t belong and has no control over her life. She’s lonely and she’s angry and she feels guilty about that too (doesn’t want to make her mom/step-dad feel bad about it). I do agree she’s a little bit spoiled, but that also makes sense in the way she’s been raised. Even so, she doesn’t use rank or wealth to determine people’s value and she doesn’t think she’s better than everyone around her. She is not vain either. So I really don’t see a reason to dislike her character.
I do agree that it’s not a good idea for her to jump into a relationship with the person she becomes friends with after being lonely for so long. Still, it’s a romance so I tried to gloss over that. Ketharian seems like an easy-going guy. He rolls with the punches and helps her out of her isolation. There is privilege in his ability to do so (spaceship, access to top secret info, political protection, the time to just go on an impromptu adventure, etc). If you want to complain about the h - maybe focus on her lack of critical thinking in not realizing the “guard” she is with is easily able to do all that he did for her (access and resources a guard shouldn’t have). But going back to Keth, he can handle some prickliness and go with it. He’s smart and he’s caring. He treats her as a person and not a possession. He keeps in communication with his family/government and tries to keep the peace between the two planets even though he prioritizes Madison.
Though there is attraction from the beginning- this is not a case of insta-lust nor does the person’s value depend on how much the other person wants to get in their pants.
MOSTLY... I enjoyed it. But you have to go into it with the mindset that the chick is 12 years old in a 22 year old body. She's a brat. She's been kept in a tower away from everyone, and she's angry about it. She's stuck in the world she loved when she was a child - Beiber, corn dogs, hot pockets, and root beer. She's NOT an adult.
That's what makes this book so difficult to really, REALLY love. Madison is... problematic.
Having said, the story is handled beautifully. We have it all, a 'frog' swimming down into a pond to rescue a 'golden treasure' after the promise of a dance, dinner, and her being kind to him. Except it goes NOTHING like that.
It more of 'a beauty in a gold gown playing her rescuer, kidnapping him so that he'll fly her home to earth, and learning about what life and love truly are on the journey.
Two things:
1. The mother's story is too involved with this one. it's like having a bonus book at the beginning (and then squished in here and there) in order to make Madison's pain work. It's... odd and barely workable.
2. Please don't call a man who screams the 'F' at a woman and sexes her up multiple times an 'honorable' man. He's not. He might be sympathetic at times, he might be worried about his own hide, the hide of his planet, and the hide of the girl, but he's NOT honorable.
But because otherwise the story is REALLY well done? I can't dock more than one star.
Have I Mentioned how much I love fairytale retellings? When they're done right they're absolutely awesome and this is a perfect example.
9 years ago Madison was reunited with her mother and got a new father in the Warrior King. Since then she has been Zelda Leslie zealously guarded by her mother and father. And in doing so she has rebelled. Since been taken away from Earth Madison has grown to hate everything "Alien" but now after being kidnapped and rescued she finally has a chance to return to Earth. She doesnt care what it takes.
'“This is about you, Madison. This has always been about you. If you need rescuing I will save you. If you need a friend I will be that for you. If you want me to risk a war with your father and take you halfway across the galaxy, have I not shown that I will do that too?”........
'“What am I to you, Madison?” She doesn’t hesitate. “You’re my friend, Kethian. The only real one I’ve got.” I nod and force a smile. “I’m good with that, I tell her. Or at least, I’m going to have to be.' .......
'There are many things I want from Madison, but in the end, all I truly need is for her to be happy… regardless of what that means for me.'
Definitely my least favorite so far. Grammatically, the author writes well. I even think the author did well in explaining WHY the princess was the way she was. The FMC is very spoiled, naive, ungrateful, dare I say racist? With how she stressed *aliens* all the time like oi but really she was...just....unlikeable, but the author tells you WHY. That doesn't mean I have to like the FMC for being the way she is but I'm glad to have had the extra insight. Kethian was indulgent, mostly, but still gave her some hard truths when needed and I liked that he had a backbone. The mother needed serious therapy and I think aliens should have had that out there in space because jeezus. The only likable character was the stepfather...and he didn't get nearly enough story time.
The reason this gets such a low star is that there just wasn't much to like about the whole story. Even when the FMC 'grows up' I still don't like her, I hated every part of the story that involved Earth - I skipped through almost all of it, I hated how fast they said they loved each other....I just really didn't like much of anything.
I am willing to look into more by this author and see if maybe this was just a dud.
Madison was not a very likable FMC. She was judgmental and selfish in many ways. Although she did improve as the books went on, it made it difficult for me to invest in her relationship. The MMC was interesting and they had some good physical chemistry, but I just never understood why he was interested in her when she acted the way she did. I thought it was a clever change of pace to have the daughter of a woman who was abducted by aliens be the MC and addressing ongoing mental health issues that accompany that type of trauma.
Spice: 3/5
Triggers: kidnapping, captivity, discussion of trafficking
It isn't until Madison calls Kethian "frog boy" that I make the connection to the title.....lol. Madison feels like she doesn't belong. Her life was uprooted when she was 12 and she feels that it's gone downhill from there. There is SO much misunderstanding between her, her Mom, and her stepfather. Instead of finding a way to talk about it, she lets it fester and grow. She thinks that the only way to change things is to return to Earth. When she finally gets there, she has some major decisions to make. One of the biggest decisions is how she feels about Kethian.
Loved the book, the story was well written and the characters were intriguing. Once I started I could not get enough, from the start till the end I was engrossed I was even on the edge of my seat with twists and turns, lust and passion, strength. The story of love of sensation. Do yourself a favor and buy the book you want be disappointed. Thank you for allowing me to review your book.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
There's not much to this one. It's cute. That's about all there is. It follows every basic Scifi romance formula there is - nothing groundbreaking, nothing all that riveting. It's just... pleasant. That's it.
i really thought that she was selfish, and arrogant, but sometimes, getting lost in the past is what is needed for self preservation. mind changed by the end.
I've always liked The Frog Prince and this rewrite was so well done! The characters were so relatable and the plot was expertly expanded and set in the sci-fi genre.
Definitely not like the original love the twist up on the erotica and sci-fi factor. A great fast pass read strong characters even includes a epilogue which if you are like me . I love finding out what happens after the stories end.
I get other reviewer's take that the heroine is spoiled and that can be annoying to read but that's part of the point of the character so I'm not sure what else to say to that other than: be forwarned or skip the book. The premise of (sort of) second generation abductees and the natural rebellion that always comes with growing up was an interesting new take for me, and I felt it was probably an honest reflection of human nature. A mother's HEA with a stepdad is inevitably going to be a source of contention for ANY kid, no matter how good they have it. Kids are dramatic little sh*ts no matter what their parents think and psychologically they DO need peers to grow up normally.. guess I did have more to say on it lol
Anyway, I liked 'taking her rescuer hostage' to get herself "home" and thought it was fun, overall. Didn't care much for the scenes on earth but mainly because I felt like they would be too accurate. I believe this author has background in psychology or counseling or something and it really shows here. In fact, I think a lot of the negative reviews on this one are probably more because of the accuracy of mental health issues we don't like to see on a good day, much less in a HEA novel. But I dug it.
I liked this the least out of the fairy retells stories. The h was a selfish, ungrateful spoiled brat. It was all about her, boo hoo my step father the king who loves her & gives everything her everything fell in love with her mother and took her away from earth so they could be a family. All she focuses on, which is repeated through most of the book is ALL that she misses from earth when she 10 yrs old. Says she’s been with alien freaks her whole life and wants to go back. Yikes, really just fell short of hating her, instead just found her so extremely annoying. Now for the male, much more less annoying yet didn’t like that because she was very pretty he endured all her crap and somehow fell in love with her. Although he sets her straight on her selfishness In the end so she realizes how selfish she was to have made her parents miserable when all those years they really have been happy. So no didn’t like the story but it could have been much worse.
This book started interestingly enough where the persons you thought would be the main characters ended up being secondary. The Keth the male protagonist appears to be a laughing fool but you quickly see another side to him when things get serious. Madison, the heroine of this story is a self-centered, spoilt idiot. Yeah, she’s about 21 so don’t expect much from her. She wises up about a one eight of an inch coming to the end of the book. She is too immature and in no way worthy of Keth.
Madison at age 12, went with her mother to another planet. She feels like her life was stolen from her and longs to return to Earth. She is the princess of the planet Telvera and has been feeling imprisoned there because her mom and stepdad are so protective of her. Kethian, crown prince of Atana, discovers Madison in a dungeon. She was kidnapped in order to start a war between the 2 allied planets. But Madison in turn kidnaps him so that he will take her back to earth where she believes she belongs. The story was good but I didn't like Madison very well. She seemed to me like a 14 year old spoiled brat who only cared about her self instead of a 22 year old woman. She at least showed a little bit of progress in acting her age towards the end but still had some maturing to do in my opinion.
I'm not going to restate the premise of the book. Read the book blurb, people! I do want to say that I really enjoyed this one despite our princess being a little immature. Veck off to the few naysayer reviews I've seen regarding our immature princess! I believe that's the whole point of the book. I loved Kethian's dedication to Madison and his fondness for adventure. He becomes Madison's first friend and then it slowly develops into more. She really grows up during their adventures back to earth. I’ll take Kethian any day! He’s a prince of princes and the true star of this book. The Frog Prince is a great story with a hot alien prince! 4 stars!
**Side note: Tracy, are we going to get the stories of Kethian's brothers? I'd love that!
