Hearts and Paws Sanctuary has been in Scarlett Leon’s family for generations. When her grandfather wasn't running the day to day activities, her father had been. Then, ten years ago, in a tragic accident, her family perished leaving Maisie and Scarlett to run the day to day operations and care for their residents. Together they have saved countless injured and malnourished animals and domesticated big cats. However, two months ago, her sister set out to destroy their haven.
Well, not on Scarlett’s watch.
With the help of Edward (Ed for short), Dave, and Kenny, she’ll do whatever it takes to keep their animals safe. Scarlett might have been the ugly, anti-social daughter no one talked about, but she won’t let her legacy go waste. Her ancestors built Hearts and Paws Sanctuary for a reason, and she’ll do whatever it takes to make sure her sister doesn’t turn it into a wasteland.
Maisie might be the King of the Leon family, but come hell or high water, Scarlett will be the Queen of their legacy.

I enjoyed this one much more than I was expecting to. I say that because the book is lower on the rating scale and now I’m not really sure why. I loved the plot, it was interesting and kind of like a lifetime movie mixed with a crime sitcom. Of course being so short the romance moves quickly but I really liked it and thought things felt right for Scarlett and her men. For such a loose retelling I love how the author made the story her own with ‘Scar’ living her life at her families big cat sanctuary especially after the big accident that left her visibly scarred at ten. I won’t mention how long it took my dumbass to put together which story this was loosely based from even though I’m sure most normal people would be able to piece it together just from the blurb or my review lmao. On that note though I do think a little more was needed as far as her sisters involvement in said accident. Sure the new circumstances with her and the sanctuary get tackled but I would have liked even some half ass answer as to why she did that to Scarlet when they were children. Sounds to me like Scarletts sister is more psycho or possessed by evil than anything and I couldn’t be happier that her niece is now under her and her (4) men’s care. I also really liked how all the men came to be in her harem. They helped Scarlett start to really live and let herself be loved. For years she’s lived almost as a recluse, letting her scars keeping her from living and she just needed a lil nudge and some confidence to get her out of her shell. Really cute and fun quick read with a great plot and men that are ready to claim their woman once and for all.
I totally loved this book and I think I picked a great time to read it especially after Tiger King came out on Netflix. I loved that this book dealt with a big cat sanctuary that actually cares about the animals and not just the money that can come with it. I also liked that this was a Lion King retelling about Scar but with a gender swap, while reading this I never thought Scarlett was a villain (if anything it was her sister) even if that's the role her family made her seem to be. I absolutely loved the guys, they all treated Scar as if she's a queen who deserves the world and they don't just see her scar when they look at her. The only issue I really had with this book was that it wasn't long enough because I really loved it and wanted to read more about Scar, her guys and the sanctuary. As I said before I liked this retelling because we get to see a different side of Scar compared to the Disney version, but the again with this version of Scar we are able to see that Disney Scar also was made into the character he was by his family, the only difference is that instead of trying to do better or be better than them he did the opposite and became worse and fulfilled the role they set out for him.
There were some things that I found rushed like the evolution of the RH aspect with Scarlett and her men. Something important and detrimental is happening to her sanctuary and the first thing all 3 of them talk about at the lawyer’s office is how they all want to be with her... that part had me scratching my head. It just didn’t seem like good timing for that conversation.
Then Scarlett as a character really annoyed me. Constantly putting herself over her facial scars and the continuous self loathing drove me nuts. She was constantly wanting to give up and walk away from the sanctuary and I can’t stand it when the female characters so easily want to throw in the towel.
While I didn’t really enjoy this book for my own personal reasons, I plan on reading the others within this series.
This was an interesting read I have always loved the Lion King and Scar has been my favorite villain since I was a child. So, reading this was a breath of fresh air I loved what this story had to say that sometimes the real villain is fear and I felt that in every word that I read. Scarlett, Kenny, Dave, Ed, and Tim were amazing together. This story was one of many that I have read from this author and once again the author did not disappoint. I cannot wait to see what else happens in this series.
I really enjoyed the story. I would have made this a 5 star review but it was a bit rushed. If the author wanted to flesh out the story and make it into a full novel I bet it would be awesome ☺️ the story and material is definitely there. I’d like a bit more interaction and back story on Scarlett. And maybe even an explanation at the end as to why her sister hated her so much.
I am team scar all the way I love how you took the name of a villain and turned them into a hero I can't wait to read the second book definitely five stars
Ferocity (A Villainously Romantic Retelling Book 1) By: TL Reeve 3.5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐
******** May Contain Some Spoilers ********
I will try my absolute best to keep spoilers to a minimum or completely out of my review. Sometimes it can be hard to do so.
I was very excited when this book came out. From the blurbs, this series was going to be interesting. I had a problem with this book. I don't believe that the author or storyline is my problem. This book is written well and easy to follow. Honestly I couldn't get into the storyline. I'm not sure why, so it must be me not being interested in the book. I'm giving this 3.5 Stars because it's only fair to the author. Just because I'm not interested in this book doesn't mean others won't be interested. Please give this book/series a honest try, you just might love it.

This is part of the Villa of Villians set of books. I loved this retelling. The charachters are amazing and it so good to see the main characters growth thoughout the story. It's amazing how far someone can make it if someone has a little fait h in them when everyone else seems to have turned.
This is an RH ( our MC enda up with multiple love intrests that she gets to keep. ) #whychoose
No supernaturals, no shifters, no magic whatsoever but I enjoyed it. Makes a change from what I usually read. Light and sweet. Decent plot, good characters and the Disney thing was a nice touch. Favourite character was Timothy, although Ed was fun. Looking forward to reading more of these retellings.
Every once I awhile I find a book I'm not to sure on and it will either surprise me or be exactly what I thought, just a good book. This was a good book. I wish there had been a little more character development and I was left with 1 or 2 things I felt were left hanging I still liked the book as a whole.
I enjoyed this book. I’ve never read this author before and I’m glad I started with this book. I love the villain retelling. And I loved how it all worked out.
