Betrayed by his own command, he has only two options:

Fight and die

Or fight through and win

It’s just another day on forward deployment for United Nations Marine Staff Sergeant Trace Hale . . . until his CO invites him outside the team room for a private chat.

Staff Sergeant Hale and his reconnaissance Marines are immediately tasked by UN Naval Intelligence with an off-the-books mission; a mission so far in the black, they may never see daylight again.

From the very beginning, something about the op feels wrong. But Hale’s sense of duty overrides his gut-instinct, and he and his Marines set out to follow their orders.

Early into the mission, Hale’s instincts prove right when he and his team find themselves trapped, deep inside enemy territory; outnumbered, outgunned, and abandoned by the very same chain of command who ordered them there.

On their own and with no backup, can Hale and his team accomplish the mission?

Can they even survive?

Brad Thor’s edge-of-your-seat political thrillers meet the futuristic worlds of Isaac Asimov’s masterful science fiction.

Short but sweet

Usually I am not a fan of short stories, but this one was tightly written and well done. Plan to check out a couple more in this series.

Overall this was a really easy and really short read, I'm impressed with how the author was able to pack so much content into such neat, short chapters. It made the reading experience much easier and had my week not been so hectic I would of been able to finish it within a half hour sit down I think.

The book serves a prequel to a series the author has written and whilst I haven't read the series I have to commend him on getting me interested with this one.

Good work.

Only negative I can think of is because of the short nature of the story I didn't get too attached to the characters but hey, I mean, there really is only so much you can do with a short story like this, I'm at least invested with the MC a little.

I didn't expect to finish this book so quickly, a good short story, though I guess mine are the same. Anyways the book had some good action if not the use of military terms to sound like he knew what he was talking about, but again it's a short story so it was a good short read though.

Very good

Fortunately, most veterans don’t find themselves in politically expedient circumstances. Unfortunately, it does happen from time to time. This is a very well done short story about such a circumstance placed in a syfy venue. Highly recommended for military syfy fans.

Book 0

Book 0 was a fun read and had a few errors throughout. The plot and characters developed well enough. The plot was somewhat predictable in what was going to happen. The characters are interesting and developed well enough. I look forward to book 1.

Action with a plot.

I see a lot of action books and not all of them have much of a plot, this one did. Worth the read.

Well written military science fiction involving marines on a covert mission to destroy a target. Good character development. A great story.

Teaser, short

Truely, to get totally f@&$%# over, do you have to take the military to space-like we can’t manage to do it here? Take a short tour as Marine Trace Hale learns the sad lesson of listening to naval intell.
