Black Sheep is a collection of poetry and prose inspired by an awakening that lead to discover the sickness within a herd, perfect for those who have broke free from the unhealthy dynamics of their family.
It explores themes of loss, family trauma, forgiveness and self-healing. Separated into two sections: The Nest and The Fall, it takes you on a journey to feel proud and confident enough to stand alone.
I connected with so many of these poems. A wonderful collection for those who may not be where they thought they would be or going through some major life changes.
I managed to read this book over the weekend! Thank you Wattney for writing these beautiful and inspiring pieces. It was so relatable and a few of them was so close to my heart. Sending you lots of love!
This book hits home . I could really relate and loved every single page. This book helps you to understand yourself . It's full of honest , simple with palpable truth . Its a must read for everyone who wants to feel understood and listened to and it is definitely for those who wish to take a journey through their mind and attain self love . This was more incredible because it has a practical activity so as to find freedom .
This collection is simply liberating. I read the entire book in one sitting, I could not put it down. I am in love with this book and was blown away by the gems I uncovered on every page. This collection had me reflecting on my own life and it gave me so much hope and inspiration. Wow, I feel so much lighter reading this book. Thank you Wattney.
This would be a great book of poetry for someone looking for some comfort during a tough time. The poems are full of encouragement, power and kindness, while also tackling hard issues like family challenges and feeling like you don't belong.
This collection had a handful of strong works thrown into a collection about childhood trauma. The many uses of the word home give hint to that and the emotionality is relatable but could be expanded on as well
Perfect evening read. I found her poetry to be quite powerful. The first half evokes tense feelings and the second half provides much needed relief. The grammatical errors and lack of illustrations took away from the overall experience.
This author has articulated so many of my thoughts and feelings that I couldn't myself, or felt no one else shared. I highly recommend to anyone who has suffered from or is suffering from damaged relationships.
Read this book slowly over the course of the month, and enjoyed it very much. I discovered I do like poetry, and that it doesn’t have to be confusing and philosophical, but it can also be relatable and healing.
Absolutely love the book!! And was so excited the book I finished it unless then an hour time and then was really sad because I should have bought her second book. It’s a really good book to start off the year with.
I prefer Wattney's poetry on her Instagram page compared to what's in this book. I think her poems are best paired with visuals like the ones she uses in her social media posts.

This is not poetry. This is 4 lines of the same iterations of vague, trite clichés spread out over 100 or something odd pages. It could’ve been a 5-page journal entry. That’s just my opinion.
