Don't mess with the mountain folk in the Lunitic Mtns
A great shoot-up western where Colter isn't the biggest or tallest, just the fastest. He comes home to help his family and finds his family helping him. It's a HEA ending as Colter finds his true I've.
Thought the first series was a game winner, but Mr. Brandvold went above and beyond in the outstanding western masterpiece of heartwarming entertainment. Colter, once again meets violence head on, and his compassion for justice is definitely served with conviction, as he uses whatever force is necessary to protect those he love!
Five stars doesn't really do this series of realistic old western folklore adventures justice, especially with so many outstanding heartwarming experiences throughout the entire book. Never a dull moment, when Colter begins his retaliation against those undermining his friends and beloved relatives. No punches pulled, as the good guys join hands in bringing down those who think they are powerful enough to take everything they want. Outstanding storylines throughout this compelling series of unending exciting gunfights and western folklore adventures. Too, the character selections were perfectly portrayed in their respective assignments from beginning to end. Plenty of suspenseful moments in this compassionately motivated story, and enough romantic interludes to pacify anyone's demanding appetite. Definitely recommend this compassionately entertaining revelation of western accomplishments to everyone, but especially you western addicted readers will definitely be appeased with this outstanding camaraderie of the good guys, nas they don't ever back down from anyone. You non-western enthusiasts will find yourselves completely engrossed within the first few chapters of this compelling western folklore adventure masterpiece, finding yourselves unable to put the individual stories aside, until Colter fulfills his obligations!😄
I'll start by saying that I enjoyed this series enough to read all 4 volumes in a very short time. The main protagonist is mountain born, like myself and he has many traits that I completely understand. The story is fast, filled with the violence, beauty and hardships of the old west.
I would give the series 5 stars, but for a puzzling editing problem that I can't understand why it hasn't been fixed. Without giving away spoilers, the main character has certain traits, left-handed cross draw, a scar on left cheek, that the author sometimes seem to forget and switch sides his holster is mounted on, and even sometimes switched the name of his rifle in the same paragraph. As well as the rest is written and edited, it's strange. It didn't keep me from enjoying the series, but it did draw me away from suspension of disbelief for a time of two. Otherwise, highly recommended.
Like a galloping horse, these five novels run through three years of Colter Farrows life. Brandvold masterfully sets the scenes, inhabits them with sharp drawn characters, and fills the landscape with action, humor, and even some romance. The only downside to this collection is how poorly edited it is. Misspellings, missing words, words out of place, and plot inconsistencies (ie. sometimes Colter has a Henry rifle and sometimes he has Winchester - within the space of a few paragraphs). While these flaws don't damage the stories Brandvold is telling, they do make breaks in the flow of the narrative - startling the reader out of the world of Colter Farrow. It's like someone rudely burping during a gourmet meal. The quality of Brandvold's imagination makes for a magnificent playground. I believe his work and his readers deserve a little better care and polish of the published word.

The Saga of Colter Farrow, although five volumnes, is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
There were a lot of bullets in these books, but even more split infinitives! And Peter has a Scotsman using Irish/Welsh colloquialisms. Using spellcheck often leads to disaster too. My favourite misuse of a correctly spelled word was when a young lady was making bread by kneading the doe. Having said all of that, I thoroughly enjoyed all four books following the adventures of Colter Farrow. He's not your usual big, handsome hero and I felt that that was an original and welcome choice. This skinny kid, with actual emotions, was interesting and very endearing. And Peter B includes just enough detail about life back then to make you feel that he has a firm knowledge of this era. I was never bored and will probably read again some time in the future. High praise indeed!
This Omnibus is 5 STARS worth of old west grit with plenty of shoot-em-up action that appears around every rise of the trail/ or behind every tree in a new camp. Hell yeah, to these action packed soul grabbing mesmerizing tales of a western hero of mountain folk who was an anti hero, by the most heartbreaking set of situations & by a crooked lawman(who was owned by a crooked rancher). A person can't go wrong with this book, you get multi stories besides. Just to add a bit more Colter had just asked the love of his life to marry him with a yes answer; before everything started and there starts the rub. Recommend highly ( only if you like blood ).
Great stories that you all will enjoy, of young men who are fighting for their lives and those that they love. Bullies, land grabbing Easterners, finding hidden treasure and a young man who was branded on his cheek"S" by a crazy belligerent town Sheriff of Saperino. That branding was used as a means of putting the fear of fear into folks. Mine owners /pimps who tried to break the "will" of families by taking their daughters to be used as whores for his ranch malicious miners. Read everyone this is a good western mover.
This book has adventure, it has boy to manhood life altering decisions, and even some true love. But that is not just why it is a great book. Within minutes of reading, you are IN the desert, you can SMELL the mountain pine, and you can FEEL the ice cold pond as he jumps in the water. That is why I like this book, and that is why I will continue to read Mr. Brandvold's work.
Great book enjoyed every word it held my interest throughout I would highly recommended it and will look for the next book I liked the way this guy writes gives full description of All the surrounding and all details of the area i thoureley enjoyed readinging this w.
rThis book I hope this writer writes many more book about the West o will definitely tell my friends that read about this Book
Wonderful book that will be enjoyed by all that love western stories.
Great book with several stories that tell the story of a young boy made to grow up faster then he should've. Each story is to be enjoyed as a separate part of Colter's journey into adulthood. The length of the book is outstanding it was like several books in one.
This was a good read that keeps your attention and doesn't let up.The only thing that I found bad was that it seemed for no good reason the story suffered from roaming disease , like what did I miss? Did I skip a bun bunch of pages? Otherwise a good read that couldn't possibly get much better.
While enjoying the narrative and unique vocabulary, it was just to overboard with the near misses towards Colter, and always deadly results of his firing. Long read, but enjoyable if you can ignore about fifty percent of the gun play. Very creative writing. From Tom
I'm a huge fan of anything Peter Brandvold writes and this series didn't let me down! I enjoyed every book. I really liked how he ended this series, not going to give it away but I was surprised at the end but to be honest I'm normally surprised with his endings. If you've not read anything he's written just pick any book, there all great!
This is a well written book with many twists. I loved all of the characters, good or bad you could feel their perspective and passion. An unusual storyline worth reading, I hated being interrupted as the story was full of action.
Dear Peter, you write well planned and interesting tales that I greatly enjoy but you need to learn that buffeting is not correctly used in the ways you use it and that rubio, despite sounding like ruby, means blonde.
Filter Darrow is a bit who is sent by his stepmother to avenge his department's murder.
Filter was a boy sent on a mission he. Wasn't prepared for. He found out things about his stepfather. He gets branded on his face by an evil sheriff. He gets the revenge, but pays a terrific price.
Really really like this book. Excellent story told perfect. Loved the character Colten Farrow. Ended a bit quick for me. The book itself I couldn't put down. It is just like you would imagine it to have been on them days.
Excellent cowboy book, Would make a terrific movie too! Lots of action with twists and turns. Especially liked the descriptive writing - puts you right in the book along with the key characters. Highly recommend.
I really enjoyed colter fast moving guy never thought I would finish the book so many pages but I did read All of it and just could not put it down. With the reward on his head and Meely dad after him I think there is coming about Colter Farrow.
I’ve read the whole series. The author needs to find a new story line. In every book there is cowboy that gets drug by his horse. A woman that has to have the hero in her bed. A lawman that needs his help. And he kills a bunch of men.
Really enthralling read, lots of action, blood, and some love to keep it moving, great descriptions of nature, people and underneath it all the depth of feeling that being part of a family group gives.
Excellent , excellent , excellent. If you love adventure and old style western stories full of exciting plots this book is a must read. You won't be able to put it down .Well done Peter , looking to see what I can read from your list .
