Turns out she's the daughter of my college friend.
I tell myself I can't take her virginity.
I try to ignore her, but I can't get her out of my mind.
I want her around me all the time.
So much so, that I call her dad and offer her a job.
Our relationship at work doesn't stay quiet.
And the board of directors doesn't look kindly at us.
I have to let her go or lose my company.
But I'm not sure I can live without her.
Especially when I find out she's hiding a secret from me.

Major spoilers fill this review. I did not spare the spoils because, quite honestly, this book did not deserve it. This won't be like my usual reviews, so I'm just going to lay it out there.
My Father’s Rich Friend’s Secret Baby (Stupid title didn't even suit the story), Book 5 of the His Secret Baby series, was about Alexander Foster, a self-made billionaire, and Abigail Silva, the daughter of James Silva, a former college classmate of Alexander's.
Alexander had a very rough upbringing. His father, who had been a doorman at one time in his life, for some unexplained reason, suddenly turned abusive, beating not only Alexander's mother but also his older brother Sean, his sister, Celeste, and even Alexander himself. Things went from bad to worse on Alexander's fifteenth birthday...and he ended up running away from a tragedy and never looked back. He joined a gang, and if it had not been for Jonathan, his current butler/valet/chauffeur, he would have ended up either in jail...or dead.
Abigail...what to say about her? A young, church-going young lady, the oldest child of James and Lisa Silva, with a younger brother named Andrew.
Alexander had been attending Abigail's church for a minimum of three years after seeing her for the first time when she was a mere 17 years old church-going virgin. But the book skips to 3 years later and they were at a church luncheon where he followed her (discretely) to the ladies' room, at which point he overheard her masturbating and calling out his name. So, what did he do? He (he's over 42 if the author's words were read correctly), entered the ladies' room and proceeded to take her virginity while sitting on the toilet in the women's bathroom of the church while everyone else (including her parents) was having lunch just a room or two away.
Alexander called her father after 10:00 PM that night...to offer her a job. The following morning she went to Alexander's office (after asking her parents to "pray for me") for the position he had promised her...and when he took her into his office, she literally crawled across his desk like a seasoned courtesan: "She stood, crawled onto the desk, slowly, like a tigress, ready to pounce and take her prey as she willed it...She crawled slowly, and I closed my eyes as our lips met.". Uhh...really? But the job was simply a smokescreen to see her every day. “Aah, yes. The job. I just wanted an excuse to see you every day. You can’t blame an old man for that, can you?”
When his (jealous) assistant interrupted their foreplay regarding a meeting he had, Abigail's response to him telling his assistant that Abigail had a lot of paperwork to fill out was, “New employee, huh? Already? What am I to do? Suck your d*ck and make you happy?” This girl was no innocent churchmouse. Then his assistant treated Abigail horribly after she was instructed by Alexander to treat her with the strictest professionalism...until Abigail had enough and broke the woman's nose. (Good for Abigail!!)
Side Note: I have to admit to being a bit irritated with the constant "Ha-ha" that spewed from each character...quite frequently (i.e.: "Ha-ha. I’m gonna f*ck you hard soon."). That was prevalent throughout the story. Really? Were they teenagers? Were they texting each other? Were they NOT grown-up?! Ugh!)
Then, for her second initiation into the art of sex...the kink was on and the level was high. No slow-joe was Alexander. Really? He took her virginity the first time, then introduced her to BDSM for the second go-around? No thoughts of easing her into it? And to such an extreme case of BDSM that she freaking passed out? He had cuffed her during this session (no asking permission for any of it. All he asked was, "Do you trust me?"...and then when she woke up several hours later, she found bruises on her wrists...and his response to that? “Sorry about that…you just seemed too cute to not cuff you down.” Then after the hot and heavy kinky sex scene...after she woke up, I mean...they finally got around to dinner, only for her to get drunk on the champagne that wasn't supposed to be in their room. Alexander's reaction to her passing out from being drunk and having to return to the office before he was ready? "The city lights were truly beautiful, and Abigail’s incoherence was just as cute." While he didn't take advantage of her drunken state...he found it cute?! And what was the result of her getting slap-stick drunk on her first day of work? Pictures were sent to the board members of Alexander's company, her arriving at her parent's home in a drunken state of confusion...and Alexander disappeared from her life. Her response on waking up the following morning? "Oh f*ck! Oh f*ck indeed. I had spent my last two days in his presence acting like a wh*re, and the depth of my soul wanted something more. I wanted to do it all again." Really? And her parent's reactions? Well, her father believed the story Alexander had concocted...she fell asleep at work and broke company policy. Her mother's reaction? She called her a wh*re...then took a leather belt and a curling iron and beat her face and body with them to extract the truth from her, literally beating her senseless, all in the name of her "faith", "…but you are forgetting your faith, and I will instill it back into you whether you want it or not.” and "Mercilessly, she beat me to a pulp, uttering the Lord’s Prayer as she went on and on instilling her “faith” in me." Until...FINALLY, her father managed to get into the room and rescue her...only to have him ask, "Where are you going? We can sort this out right here and now…just tell us what’s going on with you. Why did he let you go on your first day of work? You breached your contract, Abigail. Alex said you were disobeying at work. You fell asleep at your desk…", flooring Abby with the knowledge that Alexander had lied to her parents about what had truly happened and showing that he had abandoned her in her time of need. All she could do was run for safety to the only place she could...to Stella, her best friend's home where Abby, crouched in the tub, was ready to commit suicide, "The thought of ending it all swiftly and in my own terms toyed with my mind, as the edge of the razor blade on the counter called to me, closer every minute." She repeatedly considered suicide during the time she and Alexander were apart, only giving up on the idea when Stella begged her to stop.
What was Alexander's response to abandoning Abby? "...I could only think of what I had done to Abigail, the sweetest girl alive, whose love I had betrayed for my own self-interests...I hate myself and there is nothing I can do to repair that." But then, after ranting and raving to his butler/mentor/valet about how horribly he had screwed up Abigail's life, what did Jonathan say and do? "Jonathan looked at me with curious eyes, seeking to find words to utter. He sighed. “You have a long week ahead of you, Alexander. And if you won’t rest at your will, then mine shall have to suffice,” he carefully explained. There was nothing to prepare me for the small syringe he flicked in his palm and thrust into my right arm. A sedative? It was one of those we used to deer-hunt once in a while during our small trips to the wilds of South Africa. He must have really wanted me knocked out. “You’ll thank me in the morning, Alexander.” Worst of all? He never even bothered to check on her! He never went back, never LOOKED back, to make certain she was okay. Oh! But he hoped to see her at CHURCH when he attended! What a pair of flipping a$$holes!! This was the angle the author considered to be a romance novel?! Is she for real?! Oh, and Alexander's f*ck*ng assistant that treated Abby so heinously? Still had a job, and still hit on him every chance she got. Nothing happened to HER. Oh, but she got to walk "haughtily around the office tending to my every need. She even got herself new perfume that, to my discomfort, I liked." Really?! Oh and to make things even more stomach-churning? Her abusive mother approached Alexander, who she apparently knew when they were much younger, and "for old-time's sake" begged him to give Abigail, whom she had not seen since the beating, her job back. Uhh...yeah, this woman was definitely sick in the head!
It was three weeks after the beating that Abigail learned she was pregnant with Alexander's baby. Abby had a great friend in Stella. She never left her alone and took care of her as best she could. A month after that, she was considering going to college so she could get a decent job to support herself and the baby. But she allowed Stella to convince her she needed closure with Alexander...and to tell him about the baby.
What a load of rot! I was so pissed off at Alexander's treatment of Abigail, and then her parent's treatment of her...and then I was pissed at HER for forgiving HIM much, much, much too quickly. I will say, once again, this was NOT a romance novel...for there was NO romance involved. There was no relationship where two people dated and got to know each other. They never spent time just sitting and talking about themselves, their pasts, their families, their likes/dislikes, their hopes, and their dreams. None of that ever took place. It was straight-up sex and not an iota more. In my opinion, Abigail had Stockholm Syndrome where Alexander was concerned. In regards to her mother and father, she broke ties with them, unable to forgive them too readily. But with Alexander, all he had to do was spout three little words: I.Love.You...and she forgave him for all the pain she had endured at both his and her parent's hands.
Where to start? How to close the review of this awful book? Angst? Drama? Oh boy, was there angst and drama! Pain? Betrayal? Fear? You bet your A$$! This book was full of it all! Love? Joy? Happiness? I didn't find an ounce of any of those after maybe the first chapter. Was there a rollercoaster ride full of twists and turns? Absolutely. Stomach-churning twists and turns, enough to cause bile to rise in my throat at the mere mention of how badly Abigail was treated.
I did enjoy how Abigail treated Alexander when they met up again and she confronted him with all the hurts, the lies, and the truths of what she had endured. She had a backbone if only temporarily, to verbally slap down his arrogance with every hard-hit truth of, not only her emotional pain but also the physical pain she endured during her mother's assault on her person. She let every shred of pain fly with every agonizing word she hurled at him. She even called in to question his manhood, "...face me like the man you think you are!” Bravo! If only she could have held on to that animosity a little longer, made him grovel even just a tiny bit, then maybe..maybe the ending would have been a teensy tiny bit satisfying.
While I know a little about what BDSM is and does, I know enough to understand that none of this was consensual. AT.ALL. Asking someone to "trust me" without informing them just what it is you're going to be doing and expecting them to trust you in ignorance does not equal consenting. One does not take an innocent, untried, inexperienced person, whether male or female and immediately introduce them to hardcore BDSM. It's just not done.
I was so disappointed with the author, who apparently expected the reader to be okay with this and accept it as a romance. Alexander never really apologized for his treatment of Abigail. He never asked what happened to her after he took her home that night. The only response he had was, "Abigail, I wish you knew how much I have suffered without you,” I broke out, trying to search into her eyes for a semblance of understanding. All I could see were the pits of the abyss and awaiting judgment. She looked away, upset at my remarks. Can’t she see how much I’m trying here?" He was more worried about making HER understand what HE had gone through than learning about what SHE had endured when he turned his back on her and walked away. Even her parents had never bothered to apologize for their treatment of her. Her mother's attempt to get her reinstated at work wasn't an act of love. I don't know what she was expecting to gain from going to Alexander and demanding he give her the job back, but it definitely was not because she cared about her daughter. I have to say, I was angry with the author that Abigail's parents, especially her mother, never paid for what they did and said to their daughter. Just breaking ties with them was nowhere near enough, was nowhere near satisfying enough retribution for those two. I'm not a vindictive person by any means, but I certainly do enjoy seeing someone pay for their crimes...and her parents got off virtually scot-free. Of all the characters in this book, Abigail, naive and spineless though she was for most of the book, was by far the better of them all.
This book was absolutely heinous and did NOT deserve even a one-star rating, let alone five stars. Of all the books I have read by this author, this one, by far, was the worst...so far.

When the characters have sex for the first time, and it was one of the most awkward sex scenes ever, they make all of these convictions to each other when they didn't even know the other.
It was WAY too cheesy and awkward for me to continue reading.

Not what I expected

Where to begin?? The many “dark themes” are disturbing and I had to push myself to finish the book hoping to turn a corner and get to something not depressing. I read for entertainment and to escape from certain realities and this was not the book for that even with a happy ending. I found the characters to be disappointing. Alexander, a mature by age only grown man and CEO of a huge tech company can not seem to do anything for himself. He needs his mentor, father figure, assistant Jonathan to think and act for him. Valeria is an immature, lust filled young girl of eighteen still living with her parents and their crazy obsessively strict and abusive ways. Their story isn’t pleasant nor is it romantic.

ONE ELECTRIFYING TREAT!!!!
Wow! A tightly spinning vortex of vexing circumstances and a slew of inadvertent surprises that add a little spice to the mix. One amazing wild ride that keeps you on the edge of your seat as everything falls into place with such perfection it leaves you craving more. All the turmoil and distress running rampant feels as though you've been put through the wringer more often than not. Twists and turns, along with a few bumps and bruises catapult this bad boy to life beautifully. The drama, instantaneous attraction, electrifying chemistry and a little suspense bring this baby together flawlessly. The characters are well authentic, believable and so realistic with depth and traits with just enough flaws to make it more interesting. The scenes are so graphic and detailed it paints a fantastic backdrop that really makes the storyline pop. Incredible job Jamie, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.

Age is just a number

Intense heat and chemistry pull these two together, but many elements try to tear them apart. Work related issues, cold interferring parents and more aim to drive a permanent wedge between them. One moment of passion produces the one thing that may keep them togther or be the end of them.

Rich Old Man
Overall this has a great storyline. However, for an older man that wants to love and take care of an innocent young girl, the time and place of her deflowering was completely inappropriate. That is the only thing I would change. I received an advanced copy for my honest review.

Alexander and the church girl

Honestly I am not sure what to make out of this book. It was a little over the top. Between the high tech Alex created, the annoying administrative assistant who didn’t get fried and the lying on the church girl it was little much.
