Chicken Lips is a heartwarming and humorous tale about a sweet, energetic calf that is determined to find out why the Farmer has given him such a goofy name. On his quest, this lovable calf meets up with other farmyard animal friends who have been suitably named by the Farmer (Fluffy, the sheep, provides soft wool to the Farmer, Lazy Lenny, the horse, lounges around all day, and more). These farmyard friends giggle and laugh because they too are puzzled by this hilarious name for a cow. In the end, Chicken Lips learns how lucky he is to have such a special name. Chicken Lips is a great resource for parents and educators of children aged 4 to 8 years about life on a farm and also self-acceptance. Kristy Hamby uses lots of dynamic dialogue to advance the story and Marianella Aguirre’s simple yet charming and vibrant illustrations are the perfect match for this must-read picture book.

This is a brightly illustrated and delightful children's book that kept my four year old son engaged as we read it together. Chicken Lips the cow has an unusual name and just wants to find out why or how he got his name. In doing so, he meets some other farm animal friends with fun names themselves.
Our son loved making the animal noises of each farm animal and pointing out thing's in the book such as: the green barn and the popcorn.

Personally, I love what principles that can be applied in teaching children how everyone is different. Yet, also about loving and accepting yourself to.

It just really is an adorable and unique children's book all kids will enjoy! In the end I asked him if he loved, "Chicken Lips" and he enthusiastically replied, "Yeah!"

Thank you to the author for this copy!

I just read this with my five year old son and two year old daughter after school.

I found this book on Instagram and looked it up cause my kids love farm animals. A curious cow wants to find out why he is called chicken lips. I am going to get us a paperback copy for at home and I will get a copy for the school library.

All questions answered by my son (Nicholas).

Cute and funny story about learning to love your name and learning that all names have special meanings. The hand painted illustrations are very lovely as well.

“Who has ever heard of a Cow named Chicken Lips?”

Reviewer thoughts–Author Kristy Hamby and Illustrator Marianella Aguirre have created a book with pictures and a story that will delight your young child! From cover to cover, the illustrations are colorful and fun. The lighthearted story is about Chicken Lips, a cow, trying to figure out why his name is Chicken Lips! His question takes him on a journey around the farm, searching for an answer. Poor Chicken Lips feels sad and lonely on his trip around the farmyard. Then, he finally gets his answer, and it is the best feeling ever!

A fun easy read

@hunterlovesbooks really enjoyed the story. We made different voices for each animal and were really invested in the story. The illustrations are fun and bright too. A good book!
