Summery

Chloe has planned a big surprise for her and Ethan's anniversary! After sitting at the restaurant for an hr she realized he wasn't coming and gets concerned. She goes home to wait, but he never comes. She wakes up in the morning, and every trace of him is missing. The worst part is that even her parents are saying they don't know who Ethan is. There seems to be no proof she was ever married.

Dr Bowman has been Chloe's therapist for over a decade. Treating her for severe nightmares. She developed a drug to help Chloe cope, but it looks like it has had some bad side effects.

Summery

This book is WILD! It's a ride, for sure. Edge of my seat, turning pages at lightning speed, just trying to figure out what is going on!

The characters are so likable and caring. It's easy to invest in their well-being. I desperately wanted everything to work out in the end. Chloe is charismatic and adorable in her bewilderment. I wanted to wrap her up and keep her safe.

The ending had me stunned. Never in my wildest dreams would I have envisioned that! I'm not even sure if I liked it. 😕 it felt like a lot of really well written build up for a laughable conclusion that made little to no sense. It wasn't bad per se. It's just confusing and not quite right. Came very much out of left field with a curve ball.

There's not much else to say. I enjoyed it, but I'm glad I didn't pay for it.

My rating: 3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Overall, I enjoyed this book because of the mental health journey Chloe experiences. Chloe is introduced as a happily married woman who just planned a special anniversary scavenger hunt for her husband, Ethan. When Ethan doesn’t arrive to the planned anniversary dinner, Chloe starts to panic. Little does she know of what actually happened.

The next day, when Chloe wakes up, all her close family and friends tell her she is not married and have no clue who Ethan is. Chloe’s parents worry about her sanity “again” and have her admitted to a mental health institution by her psychiatrist she doesn’t know she has. As the reader, I was fooled by the twist. I didn’t necessary see the end coming and really enjoyed how the story played out.

However, here is what I didn’t enjoy as much:

I felt like Chloe easily trusted people she truly didn’t know in the book. I didn’t understand how three days in a mental institution would be helpful for her “confusion.” When she meets Anderson (seemingly not for the first time) she welcomes him into her life. While I enjoyed his presence in the book, I felt like their friendship was forced. When Chloe invited him to live with her after they left the mental institution, I was like what!!!!?? That would have been a great thriller twist.

Chloe does a lot of self reflection throughout the book but sometimes she over explains herself. For example, “without a doubt, I should have been clear about my position from the start.”

Dr. Bowman:

Knowing Chloe’s past, Dr. Bowman explains to Chloe that she used to have very vivid nightmares which impacted her mental health. Chloe has no memory of this and starts to investigate her old journals to recall her nightmares. Dr. Bowman prescribed a new medication to help the nightmares 10 years prior when the issue began. However, Chloe knows she isn’t taking any medication until she finds pills in her closet. While the doctor attempts to help Chloe she doesn’t recognize her patient’s honesty. The idea of a parallel universe is cool but I found it odd the doctor readily accepts that reality when the ending is revealed.

The ending:

So Chloe is actually who she says she is and is from another parallel universe! She was moved to a new parallel universe as the Chloe with nightmares. The Chloe with nightmares stole her life! She discovers the truth through taking a bigger dose of the medication which led her to a elevator. The elevator takes her to different floors which consists of different paths/ lives Chloe could have had. Floor 37 is her home with Ethan. I’m glad she got justice and the ending she deserved. Bye bye other Chloe.

In conclusion, the book kept me interested to continue reading. The ending was great but there are some aspects of the book that are lacking in my opinion to make it five stars. I’m glad I picked this up for stuff your Kindle day!

I was so excited to read this book. The blurb caught my interest and I thought it sounded like something that would be right up my alley. Well, afraid not. Let's cover the cons to start. First and foremost, whoever decided this was a psychological thriller was greatly mistaken (in my opinion.) This book belongs in the sci-fi/fantasy genre. Second, it uses my least favorite point of view in the whole world-first person present. I really wish someone would make it illegal for an author to use this POV. It is so awkward. (Again, my opinion.) Third, it really could have used the services of an editor, but mainly a proofreader. The typos aren't horrible and there aren't a ton of them, but it is distracting to be reading along and then have to reread because the sentence didn't make sense the way it was written. Now, I don't expect a book to be perfect (even though I have come across a few), but it could be better. And fourth and finally, because of the plot (missing husband, everybody says the MC has never been married, etc), I found it very difficult to relate or bond to her. The reader knows going in that nothing is the way it seems, but you're not really sure what that means. Because of that, I found it difficult to make a connection because I couldn't determine whether the MC was crazy or if everyone around her was.
Now for the pros: the story definitely kept my interest and I couldn't wait to get to the end to find out exactly what the heck was going on. It was totally different from anything I've come across in a long time. The MC shows some real warmth and care for the people around her and helped her come across as a more three-dimensional character than she would have otherwise.
While this was not one of my favorite reads I would be willing to try another book by Ms. Werner. I definitely think she has potential.

TL;DR: Fast-paced sci-fi/psychological thriller with a unique premise that kept me guessing. The ending definitely gave me the creeps, which is exactly what I'm looking for in a book like this.
_____
I enjoy both thrillers and sci-fi, and I love supporting indie authors! When I read the synopsis for this book I thought it ticked these boxes and wanted to check it out. The sample on Kindle hooked me so I had to dig into the whole thing.

This book had great pacing for me, as I always want my thrillers to move quickly. I thought the writing was intelligent, and there were just enough twists and turns to keep me guessing. Chapters left off in cliffhangers often so I just had to keep reading!

I usually can predict what a plot twist is going to be in most thrillers I read, but this one completely took me by surprise! This was a fast-past constant enjoyment to read. I devoured it in two sittings because I just couldn't keep it down. And the very end of the book gave me chills.

Just remember that there is a sci-fi element to this. If you're looking for a strictly psychological thriller that is fully grounded in reality then this might not be it. Regardless, I look forward to reading more from this author!

I found Hannah's book after following her Instagram account and I wanted to support this indie author!

For starters, I appreciated that this book was kept to the point! I know it sounds silly, but lately I've read so many 350, 400, 450+ page books that could have been told in 250 pages. So thank you Hannah, for not dragging out the inevitable. Chloe's life is all too perfect when all of a sudden things aren't what they seem. We are invited into the turbulent week of Chloe's life where her life isn't at all what it seemed in the opening pages. With a dash of science fiction and suspense, this story read very fast and was unique...kudos to the author.

For me personally, I struggle with fantasy and science fiction, my brain is simply way too black and white to enjoy these sorts of stories and for that reason I did struggle a bit with the premise of this book. However, I think that Hannah has a very fresh perspective on telling stories and I look forward to future books!

1.5 🌟 rounded up

the premise of this was super interesting and i actually really enjoyed the Big Reveal at the end. definitely hadn't seen it coming and it was a pretty cool idea! however. the writing in this book. idk maybe i'm just picky but i REALLY didn't like it. like

I blow dry my long hair, taking my time to style my naturally wavy hair.

i mean... really? this is only one example out of all 183 pages. it never really felt like i was experiencing the story (except for maybe near the end) but rather being told what was happening. i have no kinder way of describing the writing style other than those wattpad fanfics written by 14 yos i used to read when i was 11 shdjdjdjdjd

the story up until the end was pretty slow, too. a lot of the bonding with anderson just felt a bit... unneeded? i'm sure the author had written it like that for a reason but i really didn't vibe with it. for a book so short, it took me awfully long to get through, mostly because how much i didn't like the writing.

This left me saying WTF.

This book did exactly what a short thriller should do. Led you down a path where you are trying to figure out what is going to happen from the first chapter. By the time I got to the end I was reading parts over again to make sure that I had it right. Floor 37 will lead you through one hell of a trip.

***Potential Spoilers***
Who wouldn't want to find their own Floor 37? Am I right?!

Great job on your first novel Hannah! Can't wait to see what your next has in store.

If it was any other thriller book, I would've given it 2.5-3 stars because of how slow it was in the middle. But since this was a unique twist on similar style thrillers, 4 stars is fair. The beginning and end of the book were the best parts, I found myself skimming through the middle. Especially all the parts with Anderson. But by the end, I was on the edge of my seat.

Every bit of this book is superb. It’s probably the most unique story I’ve read in a while and it’s a refreshing change from the cliché story lines I’ve been reading. The main character really seemed to be off her rocker, and it kept me wanting to know what happened. I could have never guessed the ending in a million years.

I really liked the concept of this book! For how short it was, I was bummed there wasn’t as much “thriller” vibes throughout the middle. Almost dnf but glad I finished.

Chloe Marsh has the perfect life with her husband (Ethan) and her dog.. that is until her husband misses their 5th anniversary dinner. Chloe immediately knows something is wrong. She files a missing person report with the police, tells her parents, and is freaking out over all the ‘what if’s’. She knows her husband would never leave her because they are happily married. She decides to go to bed and prays for good news in the morning. When she wakes up, she calls the police station and they have no recollection of her visiting them last night nor filing the missing person report. She calls her mother (who she vented too last night about Ethan) and she questions Chloe about Ethan all together. It’s as if no one remembers Ethan at all and they are all playing one big joke on her. They even make her see a psychiatrist who claims she has seen Chloe for years, but Chloe swears she’s never met her. Chloe becomes frustrated with attempting to figure out her past because it seems so misconstrued. The therapist tells Chloe that she had been a psych patient for years, use to take medication for her nightmares, and had a criminal history of breaking into other people’s homes. However, Chloe marsh doesn’t recollect any of this. She is just a happily married woman with a perfect house and a great dog.... right?? Chloe is then admitted to a mental facility for 72 hours. She meets a man named Anderson who remembers her from years before (but of course she doesn’t remember him). Apparently they had a romantic past with one another, but Chloe is adamant that once she is through with her 72hours she will continue the search efforts for her husband. Her psychiatrist meets with her at the facility and they discuss Chloe’s past and go through notebooks handwritten by Chloe that describe hurting her family and suicide. Chloe becomes close with Anderson and when Chloes psychiatrist agrees to discharge her, Anderson goes with her. He even stays at her house for several days before purchasing his own home right down the street. Chloe Marsh is trying so hard to piece together her past and finds a black box in the attic containing pink pills. She finds out the drug was created by her psychiatrist to stop her nightmares and she was suppose to be taking 1 a day consistently, but she has not done so apparently because they are all still in the bottle. She decides to take them and has vivid dreams of an elevator that has 80 floors. Each floor depicts Chloes life in a different way. Off one floor she may have children, dark hair, a different way of decorating, etc. Chloe Marsh decides to get off on the 37th floor where she meets Chloe Dyer. A woman who looks identical to her and even is sleeping with her husband Ethan! Now Chloe Marsh knows she didn’t completely make up her husband, by who is this woman and why does she look identical to her. Through questioning Chloe Marsh discovers that Chloe dyer is the actual psychiatrist patient and discovered somewhat of a altered universe through abusing the pill created by her psychiatrist. Chloe Dyer was jealous of Chloe Marsh’s perfect life and wanted it for her own, so she drugged the real Chloe Marsh and left her on the 1st floor and Chloe Dyer (psych patient) took over Chloe Marshs actual perfect life with her husband and no one knows it but them two. So now Chloe Marsh understands why no one believes that she truly is married to a man named Ethan. Chloe Marsh contacts her psychiatrist and they take Chloe Dyer by ambulance to a mental facility. Chloe Marsh takes the drug to return to her normal life and it’s as if she never left.

THIS BOOK WAS CRAZY!!! CRAZY GOOD! My friend recommended it to me and I’m so glad she did. I don’t read mystery books very often, as I am often reading romcoms. However, this was a great mystery book that I truly hope gets the recognition it deserves. I kept asking myself so many questions and changing what I thought happened frequently. I never expected the ending (which is exactly what you want in a good book).

Intoxicating Psychological Thriller

If you liked ‘Gone Girl’ and ‘Girl On A Train’, you’re going to love ‘Floor 37’.
Ms. Werner has brilliantly written an intoxicating psychological thriller with a unique idea. This one will play with your mind! You’ll become a virtual detective...and you won’t be able to put the book down.

Chloe Marsh’s perfect reality becomes distorted when her husband suddenly disappears.
What happens next is unbelievable,
unpredictable, and unrelenting. Great twist that will keep you thinking...saying no more than it’s a highly recommended read if you love a good thriller.

Astounding! Ms. Werner, thank you!
If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

I was blown away by how the character development shifts what you view as the "truth" so well. This book will have you unable to put it down - seriously - it's so good. I actually gifted one of my good friends the ebook via Amazon because I needed someone else to read it with me so we could talk about the ending. Every piece of the plot is accounted for in the ending and it was really unique to see all of puzzle pieces of this mystery come together. I genuinely can not wait to read the next book Ms. Werner publishes!

This is the 1st book I've read written by Hannah Werner; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

I loved the chemistry between the characters.
