Stuck in an elevator with the most gorgeous man I’d ever seen—
Who thought that kind of thing actually happened?

This man wasn’t just attractive; he was animal magnetism personified.
He was every crush and craving, each desire and fantasy, all rolled into one.

The problem?
There was something more sinister lurking beneath that tempting façade.
Something dark and ruthless.

Luca Romano locked his sights on me the moment those elevator doors closed.
I couldn’t escape him, no matter how hard I tried.

There was a mutinous side of me that didn’t want to run.

As if I ever had a choice…

Jill is a Texan, born and raised. She manages the hectic social calendars for her three active children and occasionally spends an evening with her dashing husband. Aside from being an author and a mom, she's a travel junkie and loves to read when she is not lost in her own stories.

With Jill’s books, you can count on confident heroines, plenty of steamy tension, and deliciously assertive leading men. There are no guarantees in life, but with her books, you know everything will work out in the end. However, a perfect ending would not be nearly as satisfying without a seemingly insurmountable challenge. Jill loves to add plenty of adversity in her stories, creating unforgettably dynamic characters and sneaky plot twists you will never see coming.

The writing was good, and the characters were nice. Technically, there was nothing wrong with the story... it just felt very lackluster for a mafia romance, is all. The story definitely does pick up towards the end but by then, I was already skimming the book.

Full Review on my blog!

This was so freaking good, I literally read it in one sitting. I was hooked from page one.
I’ve never really read mafia romances, but I had high hopes for this one since I loved Jill’s Fae Games series. I was not disappointed.

Alessia works for her father’s company, and while she might be the bosses daughter, she doesn’t use that to her advantage. She’s looking to make her life her own, with success in her career, and hopefully making her family proud of her, while doing what makes her happy. Luca Romano is a man who knows what he wants and doesn’t let anyone or anything get in his way. When he meets Alessia it’s not by chance but he never expects the affect she would have on him and he knows that she would be his no matter the consequence. Their chemistry is HOT and intense.

There are lots of twists, lies and betrayal that you won’t see coming
Forever Lies is one of my favourite starts to a new series. I’m so looking forward to seeing what Jill, has in store for the rest of the series! I can’t wait. 😍
I recommend it!

description It is no secret I've been in a HUGE book slump recently. Nothing in the romance genre has been blowing me away. So it goes without saying I was nervous to start this one. Jill Ramsower is a new "to me" author, so I wasn't sure what to expect. However, I love a good mafia book, so I strapped myself in to enjoy the ride...

description
And you know what? I enjoyed this book a lot. The hero was decent. He wasn't a manwhore. There was no OW drama. The heroine wasn't a virgin. She maybe came across a little naive at times, but overall I really liked her. The writing was good. It moved along at a good pace. The plot was interesting and held my interest. There was a great cast of secondary characters. And it ended in a happy for now with a loose end that I assume will be picked up in the next book. All in all, yours truly will give this one, two solid thumbs up.

Alessia works for her father's company, and while she might be the boss's daughter, she doesn't use that to her advantage as she's starting off at the bottom. True she has a sleazy boss that shouldn't be around females, ever, but she's got him handled, at least, she thinks she does. Enter Luca, there's an instant attraction to him. There's something about him that makes her want to get to know him. But when she finds out he's in the mafia, she goes running, trying to forget the feelings that have settled into her heart. But forgetting a good man isn't easy to do.

When I signed up to review this I told Jill that I wasn't a huge fan of mafia romances but wouldn't hold my bias in my review. I think the problem was I just wasn't reading the right mafia romances because I loved Forever Lies! I think what I love about this is while the mafia is at play, the other aspects take up more of the book. There are so many things going on, it's a great balance of the two.

I'm a fan of Ramsower because she writes incredibly well-written, well-edited books with multi-dimensional characters. I liked that she included sexual harassment because it's a huge problem in the world that needs to be addressed. The chemistry between Alessia and Luca is intense, as Alessia says it "...I could feel parts of me going molten and fusing to Luca, welding us together." *super steamy*. I'm definitely keeping my eye out for future books in this series, very well done!

Forever Lies
By: Jill Ramsower

*REVIEW* 💋💋💋💋
I've ready numerous mafia romances, and I never know what to expect. As the genre goes, I enjoyed Jill Ramsower's style of writing. Forever Lies is the story of Alessia and Luca. Alessia is a woman on a mission. She is working her way from the bottom of the company to the top to prove her competence and capabilities to her father. I understand the rationale, but Alessia has to realize that pleasing daddy is no way to live. She is smart and strong but needs to learn self reliance. Alessia meets Luca one day on an elevator. He's tall dark and sexy with an air of charm and aggression that is instantly appealing. He pursues Alissia, but what are Luca's intentions? Does he have a hidden agenda? As a relationship develops between the two, secrets and betrayals threaten to derail everything. Alessia is naive, but she gets a wake up call. Luca is the alpha male, but will he be there for Alessia when it matters most? The chemistry is hot and sparks fly in this mafia romance with a few surprise twists. I enjoyed this story. It has a different vibe than some others I've read, and that's a good thing. If you've been wanting to read something refreshing or maybe a different genre, Forever Lies is a great place to start.

Terrific story and I’m craving more from this Author! This is the first book I’ve read by this Author and it won’t be the last. Her writing is crisp, sharp and paints vivid details throughout the story. Intricately woven. Who doesn’t love a sexy possessive alpha who is so attracted to the h that the chemistry is explosive? Loved it!!!!

I don’t know what to say about this except that it was boring. Not in an obvious way, but it just didn’t make me interested in the story or characters in the least.

There was almost something perfectly neat about the way it was written.

Out of the fairly short part I’ve read of it, I can tell you that I didn’t really like nor majorly dislike the heroine but there was something that just didn’t resonate with me. The way she handled her boss vs the way she wanted to be perceived by her father. It just didn’t fit. It was another case of “talk a certain way and act another”.

As for Luca, the hero, there wasn’t much about him in the first few pages, and the only thing I know is that he is another Adonis who has her salivating at first sight.

Another like him, one shall never meet again. He was raw power, danger and sex appeal wrapped in a once of a kind suit and shrouded in “makes women go gaga” cologne. (Yes, that was sarcasm - because I’m tired of heroes being described as an ethereal being with perfection stamped on their foreheads - CHILL it with the OTT descriptions people)

read #2

so turns out i've read this book before?? obviously i didn't remember and didn't bother to check either and read it all over again. and no it wasn't worth it. but it got me out of my three month slump so yes im greatful

so i am a romance addict and im rarely there if there isn't any romance. except when its about serial killers, then im definitely there. but the point is, i need to see the romance in my books. not two dates, her pushing him away 2000 times and ending up getting attacked 200 times. that is not what i expected or wanted. i really wanted this one to be a badass mafia romance but it didn't work. but like i said, it got me out of the slump so overall, i guess it worked for me.

It’s not often that I can honestly say that I literally couldn’t put a book down. This is one of those rare incidences. For the past 48 hours, I’ve been reading this book on my lunch break, in bed at night, at doctors’ appointments, and while waiting line at Starbucks. I even wrapped up my own writing early one night, so I could dive back in!

This story sucks you in from the beginning and leaves you wanting more. Jill- you nailed it!

Never did Alissa know when she met Luca..how much her life would change. She couldn't resist this tall gorgeous , confident man with dark eyes and impeccable dress. His demeanor illuminated sex, danger, and excitement. When he first saw Alissa , he saw a confident sexy naive, woman who he wanted to make her his. Was it a chance meeting him in the elevator? or did he have an ulterior motive. Was she in danger? but from whom? Was he the person he said he was? or someone else? Why did he say he would always protect her? This story is one of love, danger, who to trust and hidden secrets. Hidden secrets that would change Alissa's life forever.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story, I loved the authors writing about Alissa indecisiveness concerning Luca, and a surprising twist in the story. I receive an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The book starts out great. It has great characters and a great arc build. Then comes a great twist around the middle. Alessia is the heroine. She has a chance encounter with Luca. She is really excited because he is gorgeous, and she noticed him the day before. From there they go on a few dates to learn they have explosive chemistry. “The twist” causes some problems and opens Alessia’s eyes to the real world. The story has a nice ending, and I can’t wait to read more when more of the series comes out!

This book was so much more than I anticipated. I loved it so much. It is based in NYC and there are some twists and turns with a betrayal you don't see coming. Once I started reading it couldn't put it down, I needed to know what happened next. Great story with no cliffhanger. Can't wait to see what this author has coming next in this series Love me some Jill Ramsower.

Alessia is a working woman, dealing with a sleazy boss' unwanted attention. Then she meets Luca, a gorgeous alpha male with a heart.

Things will not all go as planned for our couple, though, because there are a lot of things Alessia does not know, she's part of a world she's not aware of, and when she finds out, let's just say she's not thrilled. Can she and Luca make it work in this crazy world she's found herself a part of?

Release Day

I really liked this Mafia romance. It's entertaining and fast-paced, and Luca and Alessia are fire together! I love it when an alpha isn't a jerk, and Luca is exactly that - a dominant alpha who isn't an ass. Alessia is definitely his equal in every way - strong and smart with her own big heart. Together, the two are magic and I loved their story.

4 stars!! I do love a good mafia story but even more a great alpha man!!

This is book one of the “Five Families”. I believe this can be read as a stand alone but the end leaves some things in the air. And now I am freaking out because I need book number two ASAP!!

Ok so I have read my fair share of mafia books and I feel like everyone has a different twist. This one is all about the secrets. There are a few twists that I did enjoy quite a bit. I will say that I felt the book could use something, what I am not sure but there were parts that just didn’t hold my interest. I think there were exciting parts where it would have been beneficial to go into more detail and maybe make it bigger, but they were sort of skimmed over. With that said, I am in love with Luca. He made this book. He is exquisite!! Sexy, alpha, domineering, protective, and honest. What more can a girl want?!?!!!

I think Luca and Alessia made a good couple. Mr Criminal and Ms Straight Laced. I think the chemistry was amazing and the sex, yummy!! Even though she could be naive at times I enjoyed her character in this. I definitely thought all the secondary characters were interesting and can not wait for their stories. But I’m scared none of them will top Luca. I, also, fell a little for Enzo. I don’t know where it came from because early on I wanted to smack him but I grew to love that shit.

So if you love a good mafia story with a incredibly sexy alpha male then this is it!!

I’m a huge fan of Mafia Books but now I’m definitely a fan of Jill Ramsower. Forever Lies will pull you into Luca & Alessia’s story right from the very first page.
Alessia Genovese is a young woman looking to make her life her own, a successful career, making her family proud of her and doing what makes her happy. When a chance encounter has her meeting Luca Romano she didn’t realize it would change the whole course of her life.
Luca Romano is a man who knows what he wants and doesn’t let anyone or anything get in his way. When he meets Alessia it’s not by chance but he never expects the affect she would have on him and he knows that she would be his no matter the consequence.
There will be many secrets and even lies that will come into their lives but can how they feel for each other overcome it all or will it be to much for them.

This is the first book I have read by Jill Ramsower and it won't be the last.
Luca and Alessia's story is not your typical mafia tale. The story twists and turns until almost the end and kept me, the reader, captivated and eager for more.
Great story and I loved the acknowledgement at the end. It gives you insight into Jill as an author and a person.

Talk about being blindsided in every possible way. Alessia's world was turned upside down in a blink of an eye. Trust is something not to be taken lightly. And there were so many lessons that had to be learned in this story. The character development and story line were very intriguing. This was my first book from this Author. And I greatly enjoyed it!

"My name on his tongue was the sweetest nectar I could have imagined— delicious, tempting, and dangerously addictive."

I am new to Jill Ramsower. In fact, I first heard of her through a group. I entered her contest for a chance to win an ARC of "Forever Lies." I only like a couple authors that writes mafia books because it often feels like it is lacking, so I was really skeptical at first. I started reading it with an open mind and I definitely did not regret it.

""He was animal magnetism personified. He was every crush and craving, each desire and fantasy, all rolled into one. Something about him called to me on a visceral level, and I was powerless to deny it."

Alessia Genovese is an independent young business woman who is trying to literally work her way up from the bottom at her own father's company. Luca Romano is a dominant, typical alpha male. Having randomly cross paths with each other at her father's company started their journey together. Alessia has never been with anyone like Luca and that made her realize that maybe she looked at a few things blindly.

"He was a tsunami, and my small island had no hope of surviving his battering effects."

There was a a lot of romance and a few hints of mafia aspects. I do think that we get any actual details on the mafia aspects like we did with the romantic aspect. That being said that romantic aspect was absolutely everything to me. They complimented each other really well and it flowed together.

"He was in my veins, with me always."

There was definitely some dark moments and many moments that really threw me for a loop. It was really good because I did not even see it coming. This story was full of secrets and lies and it really drew you in. The chemistry was on fire. It was like the words she wrote down about Alessia and Luca was so explosive; you kept getting hooked and hard to stop.

"The blaze between us was life-altering, but there was no way to back out now."

Needless to say, I am now a new fan of Jill Ramsower. "Forever Lies" was well-written and detail oriented. The characters were well developed. This was a sensational story. I can't wait to check out more Jill Ramsower's other work.

Sexy and mysterious, the hero in this book runs the show. From the moment Alessia lays eyes on Luca, he commands all of her attention - and that’s exactly the way he wants it. The author lets his motives unravel slowly throughout the book, leaving the reader in a state of unease about what he wants from her. The writing is solid and the story moves quickly, though I could never truly come to love either character.

The story follows Alessia, a young woman working her way up the family business. She’s strong in some ways and weak in others - for example, she’s proving her worth at work, but can’t seem to bring herself to do anything about her boss’s unwanted advances. It’s this contradictory personality that catches Luca’s attention when they meet; he’s a strong and powerful man who likes a woman who isn’t a total pushover, but knows when to submit. After their initial meeting, Luca begins pursuing Alessia relentlessly, but we know it’s not just because he’s attracted to her - there’s more lurking beneath the surface with this man.

I enjoyed the author’s writing style quite a bit; the pages move quickly and it’s easy to get lost in the story. I would’ve liked more interaction in their initial elevator meeting; if I had felt the chemistry sizzle between them more before learning more about Luca, I think I would’ve connected more strongly to him. In the end, I liked both characters to a certain extent but had issues with them both - Luca really does love how submissive Alessia is, and she comes off as naive and weak at times. It didn’t always feel like a partnership because he commands the room. That being said, it’s an interesting and sexy book. Thank you, NetGalley, for providing me with an ARC. That cover really hooked me and I enjoyed reading this new-to-me author. I am voluntarily leaving a review.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Okay, first, I literally did a happy dance when I found out Jill had another series coming out.

Did I think this series would be better than the Fae Games? Honestly, no because I LOVE supernatural books. Was I wrong? Yes, yes, 100% YES. Forever Lies honestly threw me for a loop. I had no idea I would be sucked in so quickly, but Jill scooped me up from my boring life in Texas and dropped me straight into the heart of New York City and I enjoyed every minute of it.

I received this audiobook from the author in exchange for an honest review.

As the first book in this series, the characters are set up well and the plot is well-laid out. It doesn't take more than a chapter to get sucked into the lives of these Mafia men and women. I really enjoy the POV and how the reader really feels their emotions. I finished this book in one sitting because it was so addictive!

The narrators, Mackenzie Cartwright and Teddy Hamilton, are exactly what Luca and Alessia needed to bring them alive and give them the physical voices they needed! Mackenzie and Teddy are perfectly selected.

I received an ARC copy and this is my first book by Jill. I have read mafia books before and I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. It kept me intrigued the whole time and it was hard to put down.

Alessia is a businesswoman who graduated from college working at her father's company. He made her work her way up in the department and didn't give her any breaks. So in this case she has a strong head on her shoulders. She is however dealing with a boss that makes sexual comments towards her and she feels she needs to handle it but let's it continue without filing complaints. She meets Luca in an elevator and is totally entranced by him. The connection is instant. Luca is tall, handsome, dark, and mysterious. She is drawn to him in a way she doesn't understand.

The start dating and getting to know each other. She likes him but still feels like there is something wrong with the big picture. Once she learns that he is in the mafia after an encounter with her boss, she then learns that what she thought she knew about her family wasn't true.

Secrets are let out and a friend manipulates the family. Just one bomb shell after another. All in all I loved reading this book and I can't wait to see whose story will be told next.

"With him, I wasn't just enough-- I was everything. He accepted me just as I was, and I owed him nothing less."

WOW! Just WOW...this was my first read from Jill Ramsower but it most definitely won't be my last. From beginning to end I was hooked on this unique spin on Mafia Romance. I don't want to give too much away but Forever Lies was just different in all the best possible ways.

Alessia and Luca's story is full of secrets & lies, all the mafia goodness and some seriously 🔥🔥🔥 chemistry... I do want to mention that Alessia..well..at some points your gonna want to slap her 😳; too stubborn for her own good, having me yell at my kindle GET OVER IT kind of stubborn! But I get it .. She goes through A LOT ya'll. However, the one thing she cannot deny is her connection with Luca (insert all the heart eyes here🥰)

"He was in my veins, with me always."

But seriously, I could not put this book down and that ending...HOLY PLOT TWIST! Did not see that coming...SO GOOD! I honestly cannot recommend this book enough & I'm super excited to read what's next in this new series. 💋

As a mafia romance lover, I was excited for the chance to ARC review Jill Ramsower’s new mafia series. Forever Lies is the first book within the Five Families saga and we’re introduced to the young, business savvy Alessia and the enigmatic Luca Romano. While this book was entertaining, I found it a little lacklustre at the beginning. Jill presents Luca as a strong well-balanced character who is completely aware of what he wants and when he wants it; Alessia however, is extremely naïve at times and borderline repetitive with her constant need to make her family feel proud of her. Luca is a typical mafia man; Sexy as sin, handsome as hell and the complete alpha-male. Together, the two characters had intense sexual chemistry which made their romance interesting to follow and root for.

Although this is not a typical mafia story, I enjoyed the authors writing style and story line which had many twists and secrets, some of which I didn’t expect. I look forward to being introduced to other families within the five and read their stories.
Overall a thoroughly enjoyable read, very intrigued for the next book in the series and hope Jill includes a little more of the mafia dealings.

This is the first book by this author I've read. I really loved the story with conflict, lies and deception adding to the angst of the story.
reading this story was an welcomes break from reality. I loved watching the relationship build and grow between Luca and Alessia. This was a story that pulled at you. The secrets kept and the revelations that came to light were unexpected. Luca was the definition of alpha male and Alessia though sometimes came across as naive, was really a strong well put together woman trying to find her way through her daddy's company from the ground up.
Luca is definitely the alpha male I wouldn't mind having as my protector.
I can't wait to read more books from this author.
