A profound book that I am glad to pick up and read it. Highly recommend to people who are searching their meaning of life in Christ.

I always struggled to visualize Paul's letter in the Bible, but Hudson story gave me a better understanding of what ministionaries was going through. He truly lived out what Jesus said in Luke 14:26-27: “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.
Luke 14:26‭-‬27 NIV

Hudson became a follower of Christ by putting down his life for Jesus and did whatever God aske shim to do. I saw how this was the best decision anyone can ever make. Admist of poverty, death, desolation, hunger, Hudson encountered them with the grace and strength received from God. If this is what its like to follow Jesus, then I am willing to live a life like this.

Hudson Taylor can be categorized by two things: A deep commitment to prayer and an unwavering trust in the provision of God. An interesting read on the beginnings of a man whom God used mightily in China.

Having just finished To China With Love, I am wonderstruck by the relevance of his writing, even as he describes things that can only be miracles. He asked the Lord to provide everything, from reminding his employer to pay him (without asking), to where he would sleep, to enough money for food for only tomorrow. Every thing he does he asks the Lord to bless and provide. He does not ask people for support or help, he asks God to provide it for him (and inevitably He does). H.T.'s biography is littered with the most unbelievable circumstances, where God provides in the most specific of ways. There are a number of times where Hudson Taylor has run out of money, to the last penny, and sales, letters or forgotten debts are returned at exactly the right time. To understand Hudson Taylors calling is not hard. But to understand the faith by which he achieved what he did would be a blessing. He calls on the Lord for everything, and does not feel guilty or needy. To understand his remarkable providence and willingness to provide in the ways Hudson Taylor did, will take a deep relationship of trust with God.

The inspiring story of one man's love for God and his unflinching commitment to present the Gospel of Christ to the Chinese. This book recounts the thrilling story of Hudson Taylor and the eventual formation of the China Inland Mission.

Hudson Taylor left England on September 19, 1853, and did not reach China until spring of the following year. The long and arduous voyage, persecution, poverty, and the difficulties of culture and language did not deter Taylor from the divine task of his calling. Few men have been such an instrument in God's hands for proclaiming the gospel to a vast population and bringing so many Christian churches into being. (copied from Christian Classics)

I'm starting Chapter 4 and realized I've read this before, it is however good the 2nd time around. Where are the Hudson Taylor's of today??

I read the chinese translation.
One would think again how much he can put aside for God. If you understand God's love well enough, it should be everything.
