Murder, mystery, mayhem, and love.

What happens when the wife of the most dangerous man in the world is murdered?

What happens when you doubt the person you love?

What happens when you become friends with a contract killer and you are the detective on the case?

In an isolated home nestled in the privileged community of Heritage Hills, inside the Blue Ridge Mountains, a woman is gruesomely murdered.

Retired kingpin Ken Jones’s wife is found bludgeoned and bloody. Detective Adelaide Henson of the Asheville PD lands the case because she’s iron tough.

When she begins her investigation she surprises herself, though, and cautiously begins a romance with the son of a strange witness. She also finds the dangerous mobster has a human side too – even when he’s surrounded by enemies.

Someone murdered his wife and now they want him to meet his fate. And he’s not waiting. He’s got an army of killers at his disposal and he’s going to use them.

A hitlady with a reputation is on her way to seal his destiny!

I'm from New York, but I was born in Texas and I met my wife in Los Angeles. We have one son, he's in finance.

I started writing in 2017 and have this series planned out (kind of). I think my imagination gets a little carried away, as I've been told to remove a few things.

I have this one reviewer, out of a dozen, that is very eager to explain his ideas. I told him I'll need to credit him in a future book with some basic character developments. His ideas are pretty good. His name is Enrico and he's an NYPD first grade detective. Just to give you perspective, NYPD has around 40,000 officers and employees and there are only 200 first grade detectives.

So, stay tuned. It's going to get very hot in here!

When I first received this book I wasn’t sure what to expect. Over my period as a reader I have received many books that I’ve been asked to read in order to give a unbiassed review on and many have left me wishing I hadn’t opened the cover. Not true with Mrs. Jones.

I started into the book and was quite surprised at how quickly I got wrapped up into the characters. I found them to be believable, well fleshed out and I really cared about them. As I read I realized I wanted to know more. I began to care about the characters to follow the mystery that surrounded Mrs. Jones. I loved that there were two female cleaners in the story, showing the darker side of woman. We haven’t learned who the killer is, but I have my suspicions. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

I received a complimentary copy via Voracious Readers in exchange for an unbiased review.

Welcome to the world of Adelaide (please call her Addie) Henson --

- spending a day with a mob boss that ends with a kiss

- falling in love with the son of a possible murder witness

- becoming friends with a female hitman

Oh, and she's the lead detective on the murder case of the wife of a mob boss.

Addie is one smart, strong, badass woman!

I received this book from the author through Voracious Readers Only to review.

The writer provides just enough visual description to see the settings from beautiful North Carolina to gritty downtown Chicago. The story is well written, making this a fast-paced read (read in 1 day). On to book 2 to find out "who did it", because I am thinking I may have been wrong in my first guess.

This is book 1 of a series and takes you through each of the players to show you how intertwined they are and describes the multi-faceted groups of strong female leads and war torn families. There was a lot of violence, but to me I expected it, given the story line is about 2 mob families vying for more turf and at war with each other along with Addie Henson at the forefront trying to solve the atrocities.
As I read through the book I found myself believing in the characters more as the book developed and unfolded. I loved the way the book moved through the chapters telling the story from different people’s perspective. Giving us incites into their private lives. A story well written and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the Adelaide Henson series

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Addie is an interesting character. Nice to see an older lady in the limelight! The story is well paced and the characters come to life. I loved the way their lives intertwined with each other and am very much looking forward to seeing how they develop over the next few books. Definitely recommend this series!

Another mystery series! Thanks to Voracious Readers, there are plenty of these to explore and with special thanks to the author, the second in the series, Mr. Jones, was included.

Adelaide Henson is a detective in Asheville, North Carolina. She's intelligent, hard-working, devoted to her job, and alone.

Mr. Jones (not his real name) lives in a luxurious house near Asheville, ostensibly retired. However, all is not as innocent and straightforward as everything appears to the neighbours. FBI agents are watching every move at his home.

This is well written and you'll want to know more, and how the book finishes. I was particularly happy to have the second book to follow straight afterwards. Added to that--this kept me up a good portion of the night to finish them!

Stunning plot and resolution!

Cain’s Gennarro Battaglia has a story to tell. His beginnings in the family, his rise in the business, life as a man with untold riches and a shadowy background!! The pace is fast. The storyline is rich with well-developed quirky characters. And Addie Henson is a hero in her own right!

Throughly enjoyed this book. I loved the quality of the paper that was used in making the book. The size print was excellent. I especially liked the proverbs and inspirational messages before each chapter. I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series.

This book was recommended to me by Voracious Readers Only.

This story was interesting. Had some twists and turns and always love a mafia story. Even though we know who did it through the multi-pov the story still feels unfinished with a cliff hanger of sorts.

*I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author via Voracious Readers Only*

While I didn't particularly enjoy the way some parts were written, the overall story was actually very interesting.

I found there was almost too many views from which the story was being told. Although I do like different chapters being told from different perspectives, the problem was having a chapter told from one perspective, while also going into some thoughts from the other character involved as well.

The book was interesting enough that I will read more in the series.

I'm new to goodreads. I discovered this new author. If you like mystery and lots of action, you'll love it too. I'm on to read the others. Mr. Cain's writing style flows so well, you'll finish each of his works in days.

Wow this book was exciting. Addie the main character is a tough cookie and shows that the good guys sometimes end up liking and maybe respecting some of the bad guys. But it ended leaving me wanting to find out what the hell happened to some of the characters. Did Reggie marry Ken or was that all in her crazy head?? Will Addie get involved with Frank again? Maybe the next book will tell me.

I found a new favorite author! I enjoyed this book so much I bought the others, hardcopy. I reached out to the author to put my on his mailing list too! Maybe he'll sign them for me. The story is a catchy one, and involves Detective Henson starting a romance with a man she meets while canvassing. It ends in a yucky death, that I skipped, but eh the story line was instact. Waiting for the deliver from B&N for my books to sytart the next one.

An interesting tale of murder and mystery, criminals and assassins. The wife of an overboss of a large crime family is brutally murdered in her own home and the race is on to find out who committed the hit.

Whew! I survived reading this!

Mrs. Jones was a fast paced story. The characters were pretty big and unforgettable. Some unusual circumstances. A lot of violence with detailed plans. Addy is one helluva detective.

I received my complimentary copy via VRO for an honest review of the book. I enjoyed the book because the story is fast paced and has elements of romance, murder, and suspense. I did get bogged done by all of the characters, trying to remember which character belongs to which family. Because of this, the reading of the book flowed less smoothly.
I certainly recommend the book, but still on the fence whether to read the sequel.

Mrs.Jones is a psychological murder mystery thriller by William Cain. The story flow is wonderful and very relatable next door characters. Love the language of the author. Its warm, yet gripping till the end. Interesting start to Adelaide Henson series. I am already thrilled about reading second book Mr.Jones. If you want a turn from normal man detective stories, this woman detective story is for you. Everything is said in woman’s point of view with a detective’s touch. Not amateur. The story, plot, language, characters everything is on point. Marvellous!
Thank you Voracious Readers and the author William Cain for sending a reader’s copy.

I was given a copy from voracious readers and I enjoyed the book. At first I thought I would not like it as it was to do with the mob but I really enjoyed it. It kept me guessing as to who the murderer is and I want to read the next book to find out what happens next.

William Cain's novel. "Mrs. Jones" is a fast paced thoroughly enjoyable murder mystery. As soon as you think you have it all figured out, Cain throws you a curve. You will have trouble putting this one down!
Looking forward to the next book in the series, to see how it all turns out.

4 because it deserves it, but for me it was a 3. Ok, so here's what happened. I received a copy of the third book in the series from Voracious Readers Only in exchange for an honest review. But then I saw that it really should be read in order, so (without actually remembering what the blurb was for said book or knowing what it was about at all) I picked up the first two.
Upside, this was a fast and fast-paced read. Downside, it wasn't really for me, as I'm not a fan of most of critical elements: mob stuff, hired killers, instant love... my mistake! But the thing is, if you ARE into that sort of story, this is a good one. The writing is solid and the tone is perfect for the story. The elements of the plot are well balanced. The mystery is engaging. I like the serialized novel format.
On to book 2!

Although the author provided a list of characters at the beginning of the book, it was sometimes hard to follow the characters because they used more than one name. I am not sure that an FBI agent in their late 40s would be looking for romance with mobsters. And that is plural. The Maine character, Addie, did have some interesting plot lines and twists. This copy of Mrs. Jones was provided to me by Voracious Readers Only.

An enjoyable read

As a first in series, this novel does not disappoint. Just enough mystery remains unrevealed to the reader as we sort through the various and sundry elements of mafia and investigative proceedings. Not quite a thriller that cannot be put down, nevertheless a satisfying read for break times.

This is my first read by this author, and it won't be the last! I loved it, had everything i love in a story, mystery, murder and a little love story thrown in. At first it was hard to get the characters all figured out on who they were and what they meant to the story, but of course as the story went on all those characters kept me invested. Can't wait to read boom two!
