"Indeed, he was not the same man I had met. His cold and frozen heart had finally melted. It was now beating for me… just for me…"
My goodness, "Cold Hearted: A BWWM Military Dark Romance" was a dark and twisted tale but it really took Commander Tristan Blake too darn long to acknowledge his true feelings for Aiya and her even to him... With the way he treated and at point was going to down her career, well I never would have imagined these two together until they were.... I can honestly say that I preferred the hero's brother, Allen Blake over the cold-hearted Tristan. So glad Allen and Tristan were promoted after their mission with Allen getting a well-deserved HFN with Riana, Aiya's bestfriend since the H/h got their heartwarming HEA.
This story could have been a 4-5 star read if it was given a dual POV with no grammatical errors. So for me, this was a 3.5 memorable stars.
This book made little sense. The writing was very awkward and stilted. How can a relationship build with barely any interaction, no trust and zero connection? The author does not lead a reader through the plot points but rather slaps us with the rotting fish of information through the face.
In most places, this reads like a badly translated book. I don't know anybody that will have the repetitive, stilted dialogue of our overly naive h. This is over and above any of the other really awkward dialogue between other characters in the book. Great concept, execution fail.

Aiyana Shaw is a nurse intern that has traveled to a war-torn country with her friends as volunteer medical professionals. However, they get kidnapped by the rebel forces sometime after working at the military compound. The military compound is headed by Commander Tristan Blake. Commander Blake feels that Aiyana is a seductress that wants to fulfill her sexual appetite with his men. He is determined to get her off his compound as he is assuredly going to get rid of the rebel forces.
This short novel (less than 150 pages) started off with intense action and suspense that slowly faded into mundane everyday life. The amount of dialogue to description in the first chapter was perfect in my opinion. However, after Chapter 1, the rest was description and written thought heavy. I wanted the chemistry between Aiyana and Tristan to be more engaging and less confusing. Although Tristin confessed to Aiyana, he has difficulty expressing his feelings, it appeared after their three days together he got over that problem quickly. I would have liked to have seen Tristan be more distance after their emotional connection to build the tension of Aiyana’s internal and external conflicts. Overall, the story concept was a good one. For me more action scenes or fiery dialogue would have taken it to the next level. The story does end on a HEA, with room for a second novel in the series with the best friend and the brother.

Cold Hearted by: Nicole Houston is about a women who volunteered to work as a medic for the military.
The book starts off with her and a few Friends who volunteered with her being dragged by rebels to the enemy camp, it had a very strong start, I found myself not wanting to put it down. But then all the sudden the author started time jumping and rushing the story along. It was still a very good read I gave it 4 stars because of the story line and characters in the book. Nicole really knows how to tell a story, I just wish she would have added more in depth of how her characters evolved.. It is a short book. But what little there was even if for me it didn't give enough story it was still every well written.
There is sexual content not as much or as pacific as most romance books, it was kinda awkward, those parts could have been written different and made the book even more exciting, to me Aiyana seemed to immature where as in the rest of the book she was completely mature, even Tristan seemed to change from cold to warm to much, I would except him to keep some edge to him even if he is in love with her, he kinda went to mushy.

Military Romance - this is my honest review for my free ARC copy of this book.
The books started off a little bit confusing with all the quick character introductions, and I had to re-read a couple of pages to get it straight but besides that it read really well.
The characters are all strong, prominent and well developed. A strong female lead in Aiya - although I will admit that she troubled me sometimes with her indecision and backing out of choices that she made. Tristian is the strong commander that you expect him to be all broody and manly in his actions. With relationships developing between multiple characters you have interests peaked and stories to follow from multiple directions.
A great quick read - less than two hours - great for a travel read, although maybe make sure no one is reading over your shoulder and the steamy bits.
I'm not sure what to think about this book. For one, Allen was supposed to be in love with Aiya, without really knowing her or spending any quality time with her. Then his brother, who behaves like a first class jerk, is supposed to feel the same way? Come on... Where is the romance? There was no chemistry between any of them. They lusted for her, that I can understand. But love? Nah...
Unless I missed something... Then Aiya, with her silly self, instead of coming clean about what Hunter and the rebels asked her to do. She was actually making plans to find Phil herself. None of this seemed believable to me. The premise sounded good so I feel the story could have been fleshed out a bit more. Everything was just rushed. This is my voluntary opinion in exchange for reading this book.
Cold Hearted by Nicole Houston Aiyana Shaw is on a volunteer medical team on Sylvania Mountain, when they are abducted by the enemy. They are forced to go to their hideout when a group of the military comes and saves them. The leader of the group is Allen Blake, a very handsome and sweet man. When they get back to camp she meets Tristan, Allen's older brother. Tristan is darker and commanding, but so handsome too. I truly loved this story. It has so many twists and turns and is a page-turner. Nicole Houston did a wonderful job od weaving this story together and kept it so it was hard to put this book down. I received this free eARC novel from Booksirens. This is my honest review.
I wanted to like this book but it just wasn't for me. We go from Tristian hating Aiya on site for no reason, to him being rough with her when she isn't interested, too her giving him her virginity and both starting they love each other... I mean, talk about bi-polar emotions and being jerked around.
These two characters were all over the place and I just didn't connect with then. Plus the military side of the story fell flat for me and felt left out. It just popped up at random times.
I wish I had liked this book more, but I am glad I got a chance to read this eARC!
This is my first time reading anything by this author and I was somewhat disappointed. The blurb made the book sound really interesting, hence I chose to read it. The book isn’t overly long yet at times it felt like a lot of work reading it and figuring out the plot. There doesn’t seem to be any major chemistry between the characters either. As I said though it is my first time reading this author and so I would give them another chance as it could just be this book not doing it for me. This is the story of Tristan and Aiya. In reality she would have been debriefed about what happened after being captured by rebels. She didn't hand over the poison she was given straight away? This is a military post that she is volunteering at, they would have had protocols to be followed. If you can forget reality it is an okay read. This was the first book I have read by Nicole, it was okay but I really didn't get the feels from it. It was more a very light grey than a dark romance.
Exciting story!! I enjoyedCold Hearted a great deal. The storyline was easy to keep up with and overall truly enjoyed it. I honestly wish there was more of a back round on how Tristan fell in love with Aiya. The more detail would have brought this full circle for me.
I received a free copy & am leaving review voluntarily
I recieved this book free and I am voluntarily doing a review. I think the cover is sexy and I catching. The author wrote the plot and characters wonderfully to where it brings them together. This is a book I'll read again I'm a huge fan of dark romance.
A struggle between two brothers for the affection of the same girl. The story reads like a fantasy. The setting is not clearly defined and the characters don’t really develop. The story lacks authenticity.
