Metaphorical or Literal?

I can see where this story could be metaphorical or literal. There's the phase where Kou is in his childhood. Then his middleschool in a fantasy world and then his high school. And both childhood and fantasy ended with someone he felt responsible for dying on his watch. So is it real or metaphorical and the mental stress warped his reality? I guess I'll be riding it thru to see the end.
I like Kou and hope he realizes that he can be a sidekick as well as the protagonist for his own story. I wonder if he'll then realize he has his own harem. Which at the moment doesn't seem like it can end well. I like Renge, Kiryu, and Kiryu best, so idont want to see them hurt. But Rena and Yuu are special too. Plus it is apparent that Daimon sensei and Hazuki's mom have maternal feelings for Kuniguchi Kou. So how does this resolve?

This is one of the best Japanese to American English translations I've ever read. The vocabulary is extensive and enhances the emotional attraction of the story. The idioms and application make the story almost seem an American original. It seems that Japanese idioms and tropes have been accurately replaced so that both the humor and drama have been well preserved.

I would be interested in reading more works from this team.

Good stuff

It's taking it's time but the story seems to be going to new directions. The first book pulled off an impressive bait and switch with two genres I enjoy. This book has expanded on that switch in an interesting way. I'm excited for the next book.

Magic

I really enjoyed the plot and concepts. The characters are well developed and the relationships realistic for their ages. It's a fun read.
