I'M KEEPING HER. The sweet psychology student with a troubled past. Her ex is stalking her, but I won't let him hurt her again. I'll finish him if he even tries. Because I love the way she submits. Her sweet soft yes, sirs. The way she gives herself over to me. I should let her go--she has her whole life ahead of her. But I can't. I'm buying her a collar and making her mine. Mine alone.
Carolyn got out of a bad, abusive relationship with a guy who used BDSM in a way that it shouldn't be used. He was abusive and used that as his way to hurt her. She's been free of him for four years but he keeps tracking her down when she moves to a new place and she's scared he might find her again.
James, a vampire has been trying to stay two steps ahead of one of his old nest-mates who wants him dead for killing their sire. He wants to stay in this city but he has to get the approval of Lucius, the King but he's out of town for a while. So he appeals to those left in charge and settles in, taking in Club Toxic where vampires go to find willing submissives and blood donors.
When Carloyn agrees to go to Club Toxic with her best friend, she not sure about playing in the dungeon but finds a nice Dom and they play a little in the dungeon. It's been years since she felt comfortable enough to play like this because of her ex, but James made her feel comfortable. They hit it off right away and even make plans to see each other again afterwards. James feels possessive of her even after the first time they are together but wants to take things slow for her. So when her abusive ex starts sending her threatening texts and voicemails, he wants to help keep her safe.
When the danger from her ex gets worse, she worries that he might hurt James. But James is a vampire and can take care of himself. But when someone from James past makes himself known, that's when things get really dangerous and James has to make some tough choices.
I loved this book, it had the right amount of danger, romance and BDSM in it to make it really fun. I am having such a good time reading this series.
I am so in love with this series. Zara brings her own twist to this series. As always when a new vamp comes into a new city he has to ask permission. That is what James does. While he is at the BDSM club looking for the King, he is introduced to Carolyn.
Carolyn is looking for a safe place. She has been running for a long four years. But is ready to stop, if only her ex would leave her alone. When she meets James she feels that she finally found someone that she can feel safe with.
I highly recommend this story to anyone that enjoys stories with hot alpha vamps and a sweet innocent girl with some hot BDSM scenes.
Legally changing her name after she got there, Carolyn moved to Tucson from LA with her friend Bella after her ex tried to kill her. Now with restraining orders in two states against him, Bella is tired of her friend hiding and wants to take her to Club Toxic. Carolyn, aka Care, isn't sure she's up to playing in the BDSM lifestyle again but agrees to go with her friend just as a voyeur. At the same time, James has moved to Tucson from Canada after one of his nest mates burned down his home and tried to kill him for past offenses. He's done his research and found out the king, Lucius, benevolent towards all life and went to Club Toxic to check in and hopefully receive an invitation to stay within his nest. These two meet at the club and from there it becomes an intense, chemistry filled, intoxicating, adventure filled with excitement and drama. Since this is the first book I've read by Zara Zenia I was really excited to be drawn into her world-building and loved the way she brought her characters to life and given them such relatable personalities with so much heart. This was a great addition to the "Midnight Doms" series and I'll be looking for more of her books.
The Midnight Doms Series is written by several different authors. The great things about it is each book is a standalone, although characters carry over from book to book. And they don't need to be read in any particular order. I've read 3 different books and will definitely will make the time to go back and read the others. Free reads with your KU subscription! James and Carolyn are well written characters, both managing stalkers. The book is well paced, intriguing, and great chemistry. Who wouldn't like a vampire dom who's specialty's blood play. Fun, sreamy read

This takes place in the same world as Renee Rose and Lee Savino’s alpha series, with vampires and shifters and humans. It is a fun concept; I enjoy when different authors come together to write books about different characters within the same world. I will definitely be reading the others in this series! Even though James and Carolyn were the main characters, I also liked Theo’s character and wonder if he’ll get his own book! I also liked watching Carolyn shed her fears and inhibitions as a person and a sub.
I read others in this series, and they were very well written. This one was flat and amateurish. The characters were not well developed. The motivation wasn't strong, and the chemistry just wasn't there for me. The dialogue came across stilted and dry. I wanted to like it. The storyline sounded excellent. I think the vampire hero protecting the heroine from a stalker ex could have been super hot. This fell way short .
Meet James and Carolyn in this fascinating story Carolyn is a student with a horrible ex. Then she meets James at Club Toxic. Where her life starts to change.

2.5 stars. I love this series but this authors contribution was hard to read. Very predictable and bland. I did not feel the connection with the charters.

Loved the story surrounding James and Carolyn. The instant attraction can really be felt with descriptive story-telling, and the scenes are so hot! There's address some parts that send a bit anti-climatic for me, and some they had no conclusion, but overall the story was told quite well.
I'm loving the Midnight Doms series!
Please note that I did receive an ARC of this book, and the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
I am always a bit wary of reading books by different authors but set in the same world. You never know what you will get - some are a tribute to the original author’s books and others manage to ruin the world. This book is a mix of good and bad. Zara Zenia has taken the Bad Boy Alpha series set in Tucson and added a story that fits somewhat seamlessly into this world. You do not have to read that series to enjoy this book, but the experience will be enhanced (Plus, the books by Lee Savino and Renee Rose are great!) and you will recognize familiar characters. I was a bit thrown by some of the cheesy dialogue - it takes you out of the story because it’s just so awkward! In addition, the characters aren’t the sharpest blades in the drawer. She is often naive and clueless about the dangers posed by her stalker, especially after taking so many precautions to protect herself. He is not a very strong character (the other characters are often rude and belittle him) which doesn’t translate to him being a dominant. Although the sex scenes are hot and the characters have chemistry, they weren’t written as well as you have grown to expect from the series. This is definitely my least favorite book so far, but I will continue to read the books.

I have volunteered to give my honest opinion and receive no compensation for my review. Since I rely heavily on reviews to make decisions about purchases, I will never lie or over-exaggerate my opinion. There is nothing worse than seeing a bunch of 5 star reviews and realizing the book is full of errors or just plain bad and not worth my hard earned money!
This book wasn't enjoyable to me. The characters were fine but the writing was very dry. The storyline could have been OK but the implementation was unsatisfactory and boring.
They both have stalkers. Hers is an abusive ex. His is a vampire out for revenge. James wants to protect her at night but not with the voracity most alphas would. It was disappointing. No one watches out for her during the day. She goes weeks after her ex has found her without him going after her. That made no sense. And when he does go after her, it is conveniently at night. It really was ridiculous.
Carolyn and her friend, Bella, both have TSTL (too stupid to live) moments.
With the other couples, the MMC can hardly pry themselves away from their ladies. They don't spend very much time together. Their scenes are mostly 30 minutes, with only two being an hour long, and then they go home to separate places except one time.
The construct of the vampire world is different yet again in this book. In the last book, a 500+ year old vampire wasn't strong enough to turn someone. And vampire reflections didn't show. This time, it seems any vampire can turn someone and now the person needs to drink blood from the same vamp 3 times in the same lunar cycle and then die to be turned. No draining of all their blood or having to take a bunch from their sire during the process. Vampires have reflections but can't be seen in film. SMH.
The sex scenes were lackluster. There was spanking but that wasn't done well. There were aides of the small and furniture sizes but she still managed to make them boring. Lucius is out of town and Theo is in charge. Theo says they draw a crowd with public scenes and keeps wanting them to perform again. That was hard to believe. I'd like to think they would want to watch something more imaginative and intense. I think the old vampires who had done and seen everything would have found the site beyond uninteresting.
There was a need for better editing as well.
I don't think there was a single positive I can write about this book. I definitely will not read more by this author, which is fine, because all of her other works seem to be alien based and that isn't my thing.
I’m disappointed. You could have done some research especially on restraining orders Of course he “found her” the nature of a restraining order is that her address and phone number is made readily available to him.. yes it sounds absolutely insane for authorities to just give an abuser or stalker your address or phone number as “they need to know the address and phone number they are not allowed to go near or contact” as I was told the three times I filed for restraining and no contact orders.. they are absolutely useless if she had gone through the trouble of changing her name. It actually makes it near impossible for him to find her .. unless he checks with passports but he would have to have police or government contacts willing to help him do that. It’s how I disappeared from my stalker He would not have found her after she changed her name… without police or government help.. and there would be no reason to refill restraining order under new name ., it’s literally a calling card screamed here I am now this is my new name address come and get me. The whole premise of this book is ridiculous! For these reasons..the entire plot is based on. The facts of a restraining order . Without that, he would never have “found her” as she was never lost to him to begin with. so, you clearly gave no concept of a restraining order and how they work because as your name, (new and old name) address and phone number are clearly made available to him! The only way to lose a stalker is death departing you.. and a name change and disappearing with no files or documents linking you to your old name, or going off grid completely. Such as passports or drivers license with is why ppl in movies & tv show’s always “get fake ones” duh!!!!! What is wrong with you? Have you never watched a bond movie or a stalker movie tv show? The victim gets fake IDs & passports. and women’s shelter’s can help women change their names. And they wave the application fee for women seeking refuge from abusers stalkers duh!!!!! Do some research or steer clear from this trope as a survivor. It’s the kindest thing I can say about this plot or how it played out ..
I really liked this book, but I had to round down for two reasons. First is the way that all of the characters talk. The whole book they speak almost formal/proper like. It was just hard to get over because nobody talks like this in real life. The second reason was there was just WAY too much "sir" and "pet" going on here. I can understand it in certain situations, but both James and Carolyn almost only ever referred to each other like this. No matter where they were or what they were doing. I think James only called her by name maybe a handful of times throughout the whole book, if that. It got annoying pretty quickly.
This one had a good story going on. Both James and Carolyn have their own stalkers out to get them, obviously with one being a crazed vampire and the other being an unhinged ex-boyfriend. And I mean unhinged. The vampire wasn't even half as insane as the human and he burned James's house to the ground and followed him from Canada. Which is why James ended up in Tucson in the first place.
As it goes with this series, these two meet at club toxic. Carolyn was there with her best friend and James was new to town seeking permission to stay. They hook up that night and really hit it off. I gotta say, so far this was the hottest book in the series and we get plenty of fun with these two. They decide to see where things go with each other and Carolyn is finally hoping to find somewhere she can truly be happy. She's been running from her ex for years and he has always found her, but she's hoping that just maybe she's finally safe....until she knows she's not.
Obviously James wants to protect her, but being a vampire definitely limits what he can do for much of the day. He does what he can but it's hard to predict crazies and what they'll do. Add in his own stalker out for blood and the trouble just compounds. I am okay with how everything ends here, but goddamn it, why do authors always have to make the FMC do something so fucking stupid every single time!? What the hell did Carolyn really think she could do?? It just ticks me off when the girl does something stupid just to get the desired outcome even if she's smarter than that and everyone knows it.
I did enjoy this book to the point that I would definitely be interested in other works from this author.
I would give this book 3, maybe 3.5 stars. I am not big on vampire romances, but it wasn't too bad. I liked most of the characters, and wonder if Bella will be indoctrinated into the vampire world.
I think with both Carolyn and James having their own unique brand of stalker, that made the book more interesting. They had a LOT of sex. The book needed both of their back stories to give it a bit of heft. To be honest, I would have been happy with even more info. James did not seem nearly as feral or dangerous as vampires in previous books I have read.
For example, finding out how Carolyn's stalker kept finding her. Also, the scene where she called James and then took a shower before she left. She didn't call the police. She didn't call James as she was going out the door. No. She took a shower. That was weird behavior. She was kind of flighty, not mindful of her circumstances, or situations around her. James seemed more sophisticated or at least more mature. This chick did a lot of really dumb stuff.
James was not as eager to fulfill Carolyn's wishes for a change. Even while wanting to give her what she wanted as badly as he wanted. He still held off. I really liked that about his character. His thoughts were for her, and not himself.
This book was very fast paced and I wish there had been a little more to it. James and Carolyn got their HEA. An epilogue would have been nice. This was an entertaining, quick, steamy romance.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy received from Booksprout.
Her Vampire Rebel is the sixth book in the Midnight Doms series, but could be read completely as a stand alone. Carolyn has been on the run from her ex, a Dom who abused her and wants her back. James is on the run from one of his nestmates, intent on killing him in revenge for James’ previous actions. When they meet at Club Toxic, neither is looking for serious, but both are shocked at their connection. When danger approaches, will James and Carolyn be able to depend on one another and their love?
I am absolutely loving all of these authors writing within this amazing world! Ms. Zenia is an author I haven’t read in a really long time, but I loved her take on vampire Doms and their delightful steam and drama! Carolyn is brave when she feels comfortable, protective of those she loves, and gives herself fully to that which she enjoys. James is wicked in his desires, fiercely protective of what he loves, and while he’s not one for revenge, he’s still willing to do what he needs to get rid of the danger. Their scenes together are so hot, and I was pleasantly surprised at how upfront this book was about the blood play and how willing Carolyn was to go along with his scenes. I loved that both characters brought drama to their relationship, but loved that they both had people to have their backs when the going went tough. I really enjoyed reading this book and would definitely read more from Ms. Zenia!
“Her Vampire Rebel” is the sixth story in the Midnight Doms series. So, hard to put down, Zara Zenia’s work is EXCEPTIONAL, to say the least. The plot is fast-paced, well developed, and realistic even when the circumstances and setting is in the Sci-Fi world. The characters are believable and have a lot of depth. Perhaps most importantly, Zara writes a love story for her readers where the conversation is clear, grammatically correct and the characters are true to their portrayal and the romance is endearing. Carolyn is hiding from an abusive ex, who physically and emotionally abused her. Her days have been spent between work and staying home. She has delayed socializing but her friend Bella finally persuaded her to attend Club Toxic with no expectations. She definitely didn’t expect to play. In walks, James a very old Vampire, with close ties to Lucius the owner of the Club and the Vampire King. It was so great to see our friends from other stories! James hopes to relocate to this area and is hiding from another vampire who wants to kill him. Once, he sees Carolyn, he knows he wants her and after meeting James, she agrees to play with him. He is a caring Dom and the two have an amazing chemistry that is off the charts HOT!!! The series just keeps getting better and better! I cannot wait for the next book!!
Okay I have alot to say about this one. First of all this would have had a better rating had it not dragged out so long. I feel like it was never ending and it's funny because even tho it was dragging some more important plot points were just too fast and some less important too slow. There was just a missing balance when it came to those things. Also I wasnt a huge fan of how the characters spoke it was just so unnatural and alot of times I found myself cringing at the dialogue. Somthung else I've noticed (and ive mentioned this in my last couple reviews of this series) is once again things arnt lining up cause in this book they have to be invited in to the home but in previous books from the SAME series they specifically say they dont. Also this is just me being nit picky but I really hate it when doms call there subs pet. I just really find it degrading. And yes if it's just some of the steamy scenes I can ignore it but literally the whole book (even in normal conversations) it was pet and sir and ya by the end that was kinda changing but like too little too late. Anyways I think I just wasnt in the mood for this kinda book when I read it so read the book description because it basically is just your basic romance.
I really wanted to fall in love with this but was disappointed by too much. The main characters, Carolyn and James were not Alpha in any way. Both had their ditzy blonde moments , clueless in most but their sex life never faltered Only thing they actually had in common was they both have stalkers. It just was not plausible that everyone around that was human is so oblivious to what was happening at the club. A stalker, vampires, shifters and all manner of supernatural folks and incidents, yet no one blinks twice or is alarmed by inconsistencies. There was never an explanation of how Carolyn’s stalker keeps finding her or why after four years and so much moving from various states and a name change, he still is obsessed and manages to find her every time. He gets killed and the best friend is not alarmed or scared that the police isn’t notified. Just not believable for most of what’s written. Very frustrating trying to have scenes play out in my head that makes no sense even the dialogue. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I’m loving The Midnight Doms series. Every one of these authors are so talented and they seamlessly merge their story into the world that was originally built, I believe, by Renee Rose and Lee Savino in Alpha’s Blood. This story with James and Carolyn was a 4.5 read for me. There were a couple sections that Carolyn wasn’t portrayed as the smart cookie she is supposed to be regarding her ex-boyfriend but stress will make you do all kinds of uncharacteristic things. Overall the story was entertaining and delicious and kept me reading from page one to the end. There were so many scenes that had me on the edge of my seat, so thrilling! Plus loved the shows in the VIP section that James and Carolyn put on for an audience. I recommend this stimulating read to all. I received an ARC and voluntarily left an honest review.
Zara has certainly written a wonderful story here, and wow im glad i didnt miss the opportunity to read and review this book. This story pulls you in from the star beginning with Carolyn who likes to stay indoors except for working and going to Campus. For she is hiding from her ex, who just wont leave her alone. Her friend begs her to go out to have a few drinks at Club Toxic , hestitanly she goes. Once she gets there she meets James, who is a Vampire who has come from Canada. He himself is been hunted by another younger and has come to Club Toxic to see the King Vampire to ask if he can stay. Carolyn hasnt been to a BDSM club before , so when James asks her to scene with him she agrees. What follows is is a totally hot story filled with excitment and wonderful scenes. A book that is really worth reading believe you me..
Donna L 3.0 out of 5 stars Worth a read Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2020 Format: Kindle Edition Her Vampire Rebel by Zara Zenia begins with Carolyn's journey into submission.Carolyn is on the run from a abusive relationship that many women face daily in their lives.James has his own demons and is in hiding when he meets Carolyn at club Toxic.Their chemistry sizzles as Carolyn is attracted to his methods
The intense dynamics was scorching hot and the sexual tension thick. James took Carolyn's pain and twisted it into pleasure. The plot build up steadily but I feel it ran out of steam.Despite this, the book is still worth a read. I received a ARC copy of this book and this review was left voluntarily.
This is another fun story for this series. This one features Carolyn, a graduate student, hiding out from an abusive ex. A night out with a friend leads to a chance encounter with James, a vampire who also happens to be hiding out from an angry nest mate.
The story is enjoyable with bits of sweet romance mixed in with lots of drama and plenty of steaming hot sex scenes. The characters are likeable and very well developed. The story itself was well written and well paced. The author managed to draw me in quickly and kept me interested until the end. This has been a fun series to read and this book leaves me looking forward to more books in the series.

Carolyn is running from her abusive ex. James is trying to start over and looking for a new “nest” to be a part of. Club Toxic is the best meeting of dom and sub. Carolyn and James hit it off. But Carolyn’s past comes back with a vengeance. Can James hide from his past and find a new beginning? These chemistry is hot hot hot. I loved it. Carolyn is smart and understand of who James is and James is the same. Care evil ex is a piece of work. Aubrey isn’t any better. He is worse. I loved the experience Carolyn had in Club Toxic. You feel like you are sitting and watching it all. Hot. Care friend Bella is funny and a true friend. She was there for Care from the beginning. You can’t ask for better. Excellent addition to the “Midnight Dom” series.
This book by Zara Zenia which is the sixth in the continuing Midnight Dom series written by various authors was definitely a hot and erotic read. This book had many things going for it, including hot BDSM sex scenes that were described in vivid detail for the reader to enjoy, the suspense-filled pursuit of each of the main characters by a relationship mistake in their past, and a budding and hot burning romance between a vampire dom and his human submissive female. The author certainly put enough obstacles in her characters' path as they struggled to find some long-lasting peace and tranquility in their life no matter the personal cost. I am looking forward to reading further stories in this series. This is a voluntary review of this book from Booksprout.
This one brings out the bdsm and cranks it up. Club Toxic is known from stories to have a dungeon and there are plenty of visits to it. This story really brings the dungeon to life. It’s a place where being a sub I’d safe and the doms know the rules. For Carolyn it brings up her ex. And that is one person who doesn’t know what a real Dom is. James is knew to town and as a vampire he will be visiting the club. And as a Dom he will be wanting to do some blood play with a sweet submissive. The story does a good job of showing how things work and going out of the way to show how safe it is. But there is more to the story than the dungeon since vampires seem to attract the wrong type of attention. Things get quite hot in this story and the danger can be life threatening.
Not a bad story. I do like the history of James and how he was turned during the Revolution. I feel bad for what he went through in his early days of being a young vampire. My issues, however, fall with Carolyn and her stubbornness. She knows she's being stalked by her horrible ex. She knows that James is only able to keep her safe during the day, not to mention that the club probably won't be able to assist in her protection during the day either. But, SHE'S STILL GOING TO CLASSES????? Then after being followed to the club by her ex, James ALLOWS HER TO GO HOME.
There are too many holes in the plot and her Dom isn't doing enough to ensure her protection. Anything can happen to her while he sleeps the sleep of the dead and he isn't able to watch over her.

I thought that this was a good read. The overall story was entertaining and interesting. I will say that while I liked both James and Carolyn, I did have some issues with how they were portrayed. I felt that Carolyn slipped into TSTL territory on occasion, which was not only extremely disappointing but it also felt very much unrealistic and out of character. As for James, I thought that for a vampire Dom he came across as way too lame and not very alpha. Still, I overall I enjoyed the story and I am loving this series. However, this just wasn't my favorite book of the bunch. This is my impartial, independent review.
Carolyn wasn’t quite sure what to expect when she and her bestie Bella went to Club Toxic. Carolyn had an abusive ex stalker boyfriend, Marvin.James is on the run from his crazy ex nest mate/brother, Aubrey. James is trying to settle in the area. What happens when they meet for the first time is explosive, and hot and sexy. Both are glad that they had come to the club and met. However, when you have crazies in your past, you try to keep your future away by trying to keep them safe. I really liked and enjoyed this story. It was hot, sexy and very edgy. I liked revisiting the club, and all that entails. I would definitely recommend.
This is a great addition to the Midnight Doms series and an excellent read. The story is so well written that you can picture the action as it unfolds. James, a vampire meets Carolyn, a human at a BDSM club and is instantly taken with her. Carolyn, who has been hiding for four years from a dangerous and abusive ex-boyfriend, has been found again. The book is full of action, both erotic and life threatening as both James and Carolyn have someone from their past who are trying to kill them. The love between them is growing stronger every day to the point they want a forever. There is a HEA but a lot happens first.
Boy this book had my attention right from the first word. James is a vampire how is hiding from another vampire who is after him because he killed the vampire who turned him. Carolyn is hiding from her ex who used to beat her up. Carolyn went to a BDSM club with her best friend and that is where she met James. That is all I can tell you without giving the plot always. Except to say it full of suspense drama and romance and definitely steam. I would definitely recommend this book. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book .
