A firefighter, an afterschool director, and the threat that forces them together
Five years ago, Carlos Scott’s life changed overnight when he took his little sister in after their parents died. Since then, he’s devoted his life to keeping a promise that he’d take care of her. After being roped in to speak at an afterschool program, he meets the person he thought his little sister was crushing on—Ashton Johnson—only it turns out she’s a woman and now he’s the one with the crush.
Since the death of her parents, Ashton Johnson has thrown herself into using her inheritance to keep their memory alive. She doesn’t have time for a life much less a love life, but Carlos Scott is checking her boxes.
When a gang targets Ashton, she turns to Carlos for support and protection. As they spend time together, they realize that risk to their hearts is just as dangerous as the threats.
First off, her writing style is similar to Anna Catherine Field’s, which is very much a compliment. I totally appreciate that both these authors write very original stories, not the same plot rehashed everywhere else. The pacing is fast and it holds my interest. The characters are engaging and likeable. The style is clean romantic and with a bit of suspense to keep it interesting. I’m always happy to see when she’s published another book. I loved this story and I definitely recommend it.
Carlos has been taking care of his sister since their parents died. As a promise to her and them, he has focused on her no romance involved. Then he sees her. The woman that has changed his sister for the best and helped her make decisions on her future and he wants her. Bad. Their mutual chemistry and their personalities are a natural draw to the other. The problems they face are ones that they will end up working together to solve. The energy and emotion this author once again pours into her stories and her characters make us love firemen all the more. The fact that these hunky beast aren't man whores just make it better.
I admit I have a soft spot for first responders and firefighters in particular, my granddaughter is married to one. I’ll admit he’d look pretty good on one of those calendars, but that is the previous story, not Carlos’s. Carlos is one of the good guys. Yes, he’s a firefighter but he put his life on hold at 24 to take care of his 12-year-old sister, Polly, when their parents died. That love and care is what causes the problem with his being attracted to Ashton, Polly’s friend. Bree Livingston does her usual excellent job of giving us a story with romance, humor, danger and a few surprise twists.
It was fun to read Carlos' story. I knew he had a sister, Polly, but did not realize their situation. Carlos is a great guy, even though he gave Bryan a really hard time in the first book. He's a great big brother, but also just a good person. I loved the chemistry between him and Ashton. This was a sweet story to read, even if at times it addressed some sadder issues. I really enjoyed their story.
Firefighter's Risk: Fantastic writing and Hot Men. Loved Ashton and what she did for the children in the community. It's sad when people get mixed up with the wrong crowd. Loved all the characters. Carlos cared so much for everyone. He was a good man and diservice love. Great story!
This is a sweet suspenseful romance about a Carlos who is a firefighter and Ashton who runs an after school program. Carlos sister Polly helps with the after school program. When one of the kids is found trying to hide in the after school building, Ashton goes to talk to the parents. The father gets upset and threatens her. Can Carlos keep her safe?
Carlos Scott is a firefighter who is raising his little sister Polly after losing his parents. Ashton Johnson lost her parents and runs a center for children with the money left to her. They met each other when he goes to talk to the kids about firefighting. But Carlos has no dating since he took Polly in and he likes Ashton.Good read!😊😁
Yes this was an exciting book. Miss Livingston is a very good Arthur. Her story was an intriguing and she had us guessing what was going to happen and how she would end her book.
Of course there were some pros, but the cons were frustrating. Guy gets out of jail, so he must be evil because otherwise why would he be in jail? Sticky-sweet and unbelievable ending. Stuff like that.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was romantic and you didn't have to wait to the end for the characters to become involved. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Christian romance and loves firemen!
This is a good story with many twists and turns that keeps you reading. The characters were likable. Ashton had a good idea and her decision to help was great.
