Boys and girls can’t be just friends. A lie made up by overprotective fathers afraid of the illustrious teenage boy and his uncontrollable hormones.

Reid and I were the exception to the rule. Best friends. A friendship bound with the spit in our palms and the gospel of a crossed heart. I lasted four years before the cliche caught me. Another four before my truth surged forward with an attempt at a kiss and a drunken confession.

Ten years on, Reid Rivere is Hollywood’s golden boy. Ten years on, and I, Roxy Monroe have found myself embroiled in another cliche... at least I’m consistent.

Men and women can’t be just friends. I’m starting to learn that the hard way.

I am a sucker for a best friends to lovers romance. Throw in a stage where they're enemies and I get all kinds of giddy. If he also happens to be a dirty talker then ding, ding, ding - we've got a winner!!!

Reid and Roxy are the best of friends. Childhood BFFs sworn to be each other's person until the end of days. A kiss ruins everything and hearts get broken. Unbreakable bonds are shattered and futures altered. Haley Jenner captured that exquisite pain of being a teenager and loving someone you can't have so perfectly I felt an ache in my chest reading this one. Can I just say that Reid also gives Roxy a nickname that had me swooning like a MOFO & he had zero idea what it did to this poor teenage girl's heart! Gah! Teenage boys are the WORST!

A decade of mistakes and loneliness pass before they cross paths again but it's not the reunion either envisioned. Nope. It's so much more! I yelled, I ranted, I might have even threatened the authors at certain points because these two made me legit crazy. I wanted to slap them, hug them and then hump Reid! I also got super emotional when the book touched on real world issues such as cyber bullying and the filth that social media can become.

A shout out needs to be given to the supporting characters in this one who made this such a rich reading experience - I have already put in my list of demands for who else needs their story told.

To sum it up, if that's even possible, it's a beautifully told love story that gives an honest account of what fear can make you miss out on. What it means when loving someone the wrong way is just as bad as not loving them at all. My Reading Heart is HAPPY!!!

“Stumbling isn’t failing, Firefly. It’s self-discovery. It’s knowledge. It’s experience.”

Ok so honestly I picked this book up without even reading the blurb, and also because I liked the cover well enough. I’d never read this author duo before, so I had no clue what to expect, but I will say that I’m pleasantly surprised and sad it’s taken me so long to pick up one of their books.

The start of the story was hard for me, because I liked Roxy so much that it made me kind of ticked at Reid. So when the time jump happens, I was still irritated by him. All that said they convinced me to like him, and also he and Roxy as a duo. This one was pretty emotional for many reasons and the authors also weave a good message into the story while blending a unique social media visual from time to time.

This was just an enjoyable besties to strangers to second chance Hollywood romance, read. Trope it up baby.

Also. They gave us some side characters I’d love to read more of. Brook is a riot, and Ari of flipping course. So good.

"..To the people who offer compliments without agenda, to the people who choose to build others up instead of pulling them down. I see you, fireflies. I see you lighting the way. I love you. I appreciate you. You are the future."

I love a friends to lovers story as much as the next gal, but damn. This one ruined me, and quite early on. Roxy and Reid are the best of friends, and have been since the tender age of ten years old, where our firery Roxy demanded/predicted that Reid was going to be her person. With a pact made with spit and a handshake -- boys are so gross-- they vow to always be best friends, and to never develop feelings for one another, or else their friendship will end. Fast forward ten years, and Roxy is trapped in her own nightmare: she has fallen in love with Reid, and is trying her hardest to hide it. She knows if she ever voices her true feelings she'll lose him, but in denying herself true happiness, she's slowly losing herself. After a drunken confession of her love for Reid on prom night, he walks away from her, breaking her heart into a million little pieces.

Another ten years has passed, and Roxy and Reid haven't talked to each other since prom night. That's all about to change, however. After coming off a very public scandal -- with no fault of her own-- she auditions for an incredible movie, without knowing it's one of Reid's scripts. Or that he's playing a role in his own movie. Face to face again after all these years all their emotions come to a head: anger, pain, resenment, heartbreak, love, betrayal.. everything you can imagine these two are feeling. But can they work through their issues, move on from their past, and ultimately create something beautiful?

I loved, loved this story. As usual with this writing duo, I was sucked into the story from the very first page. I *felt* every emotion these two characters felt, and even though I wanted to shake them both at various points, at the end of the day, the love these two had for each other surpassed everything else.

I'll admit, it took me a while to warm up to Reid, but once I did, I instantly forgave him for breaking Roxy's heart. He was just an eighteen year old boy who didn't believe in his feelings enough to risk the only stable, constant, true friendship he had. We've all made mistakes, especially at such a young age, but all he needed was his firefly shining her light so he could find his way back to her. *swoons for eternity!!*

I also really loved the bullying aspect of this book. So often, especially when it comes to social media, people are so quick to judge what they don't understand. The hateful words that are thrown, whether about a person or a certain circumstance, is very prevalent in our society. The weight of those hurtful words, especially time and time again, was such a real aspect to Roxy's character. Her eventual breakdown, and her expose for the way the public was treating her, was truly awe inspiring. It also shared the cruel, and unsurprising way women are treated in the public eye versus their male counterparts. (I also especially loved how that part where a Hollywood executive was called out for sexually harassing women -- and I truly believe Roxy was not the first to experience that-- and then see him stand up for the me too movement in the public eye. We have seen so many instances like that in our real life, from Harvey Weinstein, to multiple actors who have now come under fire for their actions. My feminist loving heart was so happy to see that being showcased in this novel.)

I truly loved every aspect of this book, and the side characters were wonderful!! Brooke and Crocodile Hemsworth (LOL at that nickname!!) Were hilarious!! Here's to hoping we see them in the future!

Be prepared to not stop once you pick up this book, because it will consume you! Another wonderful release from my favorite writing duo!!❤❤

And here's another amazing quote that made me tear up!!:
"..In the moments you struggle to recognize your own worth, they look at you, like Reid is looking at me right now, and you know that you’ve got this. Because even though you might not believe it, they do, and sometimes that’s all you need. Someone in your corner."

**I I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!!**

Roxy and Reid made a promise when they were 10 to never fall in love with each other. Fast forward to when they're 18 and Roxy is completely in love with Reid, but she's afraid of confessing her feelings because she knows he won't understand it. After a night of drinking, Roxy ends up saying she loves Reid, but then he starts acting like an asshole because he clearly doesn't love her like that and OMG YOU PROMISED ME YOU WOULDN'T FALL IN LOVE WITH ME!!! YOU RUINED EVERYTHING! I HATE YOU RIGHT NOW!!!!

Seriously, the fucking NERVE of this guy. Okay, I get that you don't love her like that and things can never be the same now, but you don't have to be so cruel about it. I mean, you've been inseparable for 8 years and now you can't even treat your BEST FRIEND with the respect she deserves? BYE i'm not here for this kind of shit

I really didn't like this book, prob a bit of me moreso than the author but I do think she made some weird writing choices. I just didnt really buy into the romantic relationship, and why they were apart. It also was a complete turnoff that Reid was never in love with Roxy till they had been apart and he could be re-enter her life in a different way than as her best friend, so he fell in love with the girl he didnt know anymore bc for some reason it was unacceptable to him to fall for her as his best friend??? The author made the choice to never have had him be in love with her, and just be unable to accept it at 18, instead he just kept saying he was never in love with her as anything more than a friend till they met again and had sex. How unromantic lol

On the flip side Roxy has always been in love with him for years, and thankfully she didnt pine or remain celibate, but it still felt unequal bc she is just accepting this guy back who cruelly rejected her for having feelings for him. He also states in the book he thought his career was more important than anything, and now he sees it's not but he at this point has already won an Oscar so he did find all the success in his career while she is a disgraced actress who has had a hard life on top of him throwing her out like trash. So he basically had his cake and got to eat it too. I did like the exploration of social media with Roxy etc and I loved her, would have preferred if the book had been about her as a disgraced actress meeting someone other than Reid bc I just did not even remotely believe he deserves nor loves her all that much romantically or as a best friend, he sucked ass.

I just found this whole book odd as a romance book, it was just so unromantic and basically just a hero getting everything he wanted with minimal effort and on his own timeline. This is actually a line he tells her after they have had sex a few times at 74%:

“Where does that leave us?” I question. “I like you, Roxy. A lot and not just the way a friend cares for another.

This at 92%:
“Our movie,” he corrects. “And it can’t come as a surprise to you. That movie was written for you, because of you. Just because I wasn’t in love with you at the time, doesn’t mean the love I held for you then was any less significant.”

So he wasnt in love with her at 18, he re enters her life and feels he can act on an attraction to her now bc they arent best friends anymore, and the author rather than chose to have him finally understand he has always been in love.....decides to hammer in that he never was and is just barely in "like" with her at 74%. I just dont get it, like what she was going for in her portrayal of their relationship? It's doesnt feel epic or meant to be, I am at a loss

Roxy + Reid = Rad!!

Reid and Roxy were the best of friends until a devotion of love and a kiss ruined it all. A decade of separation, hurt, and yearning pass before they see each other again. The pain of that fateful night still lingers, but in the end love prevails.
This book, like any other Haley Jenner book made me feel a rollercoaster of emotions. I was happy, heartbroken, emotional, entertained, and proud (go Roxy).
The pure happiness I felt when I saw this beautiful book in my kindle could only be equated to the happiness of a kid on Christmas morning. I have been a fan of the Haley Jenner duo’s books since I discovered Archer. In my opinion some authors a great writers, but there are those special few who are amazing storytellers and I find myself lost in the book; these ladies are two of those authors. So of course I keep up to date on their upcoming books, and when I learned about Cross Your Heart I was so excited. Best friends to enemies to lovers, what more could I ask for?!
Let me just tell you, I was not disappointed!
Cross Your Heart is a phenomenal love story that touches on real world topics brilliantly. I could not recommend this book enough!

“Throw your daggers. Pull me down if you must. Know that the only person it causes pain is you. You’re letting hate spike in your heart and soul and it’s a poison, one that’s neigh impossible to rid yourself of.”

Cross Your Heart took us in a totally different direction, than the authors have taken us before. Yes it’s a friendship, to enemies, to lovers romance, however a very important lesson is to be learned. It’s kind of ironic given there has been a huge interest in “Bully Romance’s” recently. A nasty retort may be the one that pushes someone over the edge, the burden too hard to bear...would you want to carry the guilt of someone’s life on your shoulders? Whatever happened to the saying “if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything.”

Reid Rivere is a loner, preferring to sit and observe people rather than join in. His life changes the day Roxy Monroe sits beside him in the playground. Two ten year olds, make a pact to be best friends “to never compromise ourselves for anyone or anything else.” Roxy took a gigantic leap of faith and it all came tumbling down when they were eighteen. Reid removed every trace of himself from Roxy’s life. Their plans were changed in that instant, they were supposed to do this together, now they paved their own paths. While Reid was the golden boy, Roxy was a dark stain and she had to endure an awful lot by herself. She always took the higher ground but “haters are always going to be haters.” Ten years later Roxy gets given a chance, but she has some demons to face. With a fortified wall to protect her and some acting she’d be okay...wouldn’t she?

I was consumed. A little shattered and filled with some deep rooted emotions while reading Cross Your Heart.
I was a whole lot raptured, and at times, gutted.
The way Haley Jenner tells a story is in a word, beautiful.
Cross Your Heart isn’t just a love story. It’s a story of friendship, heartbreak, and so much more.
One I felt from my scalp to my toes.
It’s a story worth every gasp and wheeze and clutching of my heart.

Look,
I don't know what I want to eat today, I don't know what I want to read so I started this. I have no idea why I picked it up.

First things first, the writing-no it is too much. I need to start over. This book explored fairly important themes. The protags meet at 10 and do not talk like 10 year olds socially. 12 ok. Not 10. But that's not really important; they make a pact to be best friends and never fall in love. It lasted 4 years, when Roxy starts having those thoughts toward Reid. She confesses at 18 and it all falls apart.

They have this shared dream, Hollywood, and their experiences couldn't be more different. Reid is a man, so it's implied his standards aren't quite the same. Roxy faces blacklisting, a sex scandal, and social media bullying in addition to unrealistic standards of beauty. And I don't think the book did a terrible job with this to be honest. Reid can't quite understand what she's been through.

So where did it go wrong. It's overwritten. Like, really overwritten.

"Anger spikes dangerously in my stomach. His arrogance is incurable. I want to shake him, but giving over to that beast inside of me will only feed into the world’s opinion of who I am. Reckless. Misguided. Stupid. I inhale heavily through my nose, forcing a trap around the fire of fury burning deep inside."

It's much better when it doesn't try to be clever, that is just a lot of ways to say you are angry. Ironically, there was some really sweet one-lines in this, but they were buried in passages like this.

The protags had a pact on which they did a spit-shake at 10. (Where the book's title is from) Okay, and somehow, I wasn't prepared for this:

"The need for a spit-shake surpassed by the kiss of my cock against her cervix,"

I mean, yes for sure. I agree. I guess.

The sex scenes weren't bad generally (although their movie sex scene got a little weird). I don't know what to rate this, or even what more to say about it. It was...interesting.

Jesus.
Every time this powerhouse duo produce another book they seem to strive (& succeed) to smash it out of the park further.
This isn't a simple love story, nor is it a simple Hollywood story.
It is a story spanned over many years, full of love and hate and all the messy painful feelings in between.
It is a story of standing up to bullies and I applaud the author's for writing something so powerful in this cyber focused world.
Words hurt, please remember that if nothing else.
The way this book is written and formatted makes it even more unique.
Don't wait, one click today. You won't regret it and will hopefully learn and grow from this story.
I know I did.
Would give more stars if I could.

Cross Your Heart is a friends to enemies to lovers romance stole my heart. This book reminded me so much of myself. Sometimes when you admit to liking your best guy friend you have to let them go in order for them to realize their feelings for you. As I read Roxy and Reid’s story I fell in love with them instantly. I loved to hate Reid for just up and leaving Roxy the way he did because she admitted her feelings to him. But then I fell in love with him because of how he came back and helped her pursue her career and ended up back with him. These two have such amazing chemistry that I wish I had a Reid in real life. This is one book I hoped it would be and more.

"Reid is the right level of disinterested and the wrong amount of beautiful. It's the worst kind of heartache, being loved by someone so completely in the wrong way."

Loved the heroine! Wasn't keen on the hero. He took whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted it and with minimal effort.

I found myself interested in the 'background bullying sceene'. And I loved the way the heroine handled it.

You know when a book just sits with you after you finish reading it? Yeah, Cross your Heart is definitely one of those books for me. It's a keeper folks. Likely a keeper for life.

CYH is a story spanning decades. It's about friendship and love, and most importantly, accepting self-worth and fighting for kindness. Right from the first few pages we get a clear picture of who Reid and Roxy are, and their jump into a lasting friendship is wonderful and fun. Fast forward to those pesky teenage years and things get real. Reid has a plan that will have both he and Roxy sharing a lifetime of true platonic friendship pursuing their dreams in Hollywood. Roxy unintentionally interrupts this path by finally voicing her deeper feelings for Reid. Insert painful heartbreak when Reid's stubbornness leads him to walk away.

Fast forward again and we find that both Reid and Roxy are living "the dream" acting in Hollywood. Life is total aces for Reid—he's America's mysterious heartthrob and he can do no wrong. Something is missing in his life though, and he quickly admits that it's Roxy, and their broken friendship has left a permanet hole in his heart. He finds a surefire way to get Roxy back in his life, only it's not so clear-cut to Roxy. You see, unfortunately this star life hasn't been kind to Roxy, like with so many women before her. A devastating betrayal has thrown her to the wolves, i.e., the insatiable tabloids and social media bullies and trolls. She's more than reluctant to throw herself back in the spotlight by working with the adored Reid Rivere but the opportunity is too great, and she is still drawn to Reid. Their work together leads to a bumpy cordiality and it's clear there are intense feelings on both sides even though those feelings are hard to define. An angry encounter leads to a fiery explosion of intimacy. Everything changes for Reid, but those loud voices of the internet come swinging and poor sweet Roxy has a difficult time embracing their new relationship.

Embedded in this phenomenal friends-to-enemies-to-lovers story is a vital message about the often vitriolic voices of social media. I truly feel for Roxy on a deep level because although it can be an amazing tool giving reach and connection to so many people more than ever before—social media also allows the haters and trolls that same luxury under the protection of anonymity. And there's really only so much a person can take before the hurt and pain start to overpower your confidence and psyche. It takes Reid's and other close family members and friends' support to empower Roxy to take back her strength and stand up for kindness.

Cross your Heart is a fantastic story about two extraordinary characters on an at times devastating path to their happy ending. The icing on top is the thought-provoking message within about how simple acts of consideration and kindness take so much less energy than those of hate. This message is not written in a grandiose way. It's written honestly and with relevance to the story and the real world. So many more than 5 radical stars for this book! I love Reid Rivere. I love Roxy Monroe. I love Cross your Heart. You'll love all of those things too. Cross my heart. 😘

Another five star read from Haley Jenner. I'm not sure if this book hit me so hard because one of my favourite TV presenters committed suicide last week at the age of forty, in part, to internet trolls that hounded her relentlessly. This book delves into that subject, and it isn't pretty. In fact, it made me bawl my eyes out. I mean at one point I couldn't read the screen, wondering if this was how she felt before she made her final decision, and the authors touched on this subject really well.

Roxie and Reid were best friends from the age of ten. These two planned to take Hollywood by storm together, they had their whole lives mapped out together, they had their rules and the biggest one was that they wouldn't catch feelings that could destroy their friendship. At eighteen, Roxy does just that, and Reid walks away.

Ten years later, Roxie is struggling in Hollywood after some serious bad press and Reid is at the height of his career. A film brings these estranged besties back together and their bond is soon reignited but it's going to take a lot for Reid to ingratiate himself back into Roxie's fold after he left her decimated ten years ago.

As I said above, this book broke my heart. My mum always said to me, if you can't say anything nice, say nothing at all, but for some people, hate is all they spew. It's easy to type those messages from behind a keyboard without giving two hoots about the effect it is going to have on the recipient, but when you have hundreds, maybe thousands of those messages, day in day out, those messages are going to begin to eat away at you, and for Roxy, it becomes an issue.

I loved this book and hated this book all at the same time, well, not hated the book, but the keyboard warriors that made Roxie's life a misery. The love story was amazing, I did feel Reid leaving the way he did in the first instance a bit over the top, but it worked. This book hurt, and like I said above, probably had an even greater effect because of recent events here in the UK, but this happens worldwide, and it is one part of social media that makes me scream. The characters were fantastic, the dialogue was great, the flow effortless and I couldn't put it down, in fact, it was another early hours finish. The social media posts in picture form were a great touch. I just loved everything about it.

"You took the one person I needed in this life and chased her away with the cancerous thought of her own fairy tale."

Reid and Roxy are everything!! To say I loved this book and it is simply amazing is putting it lightly! Haley Jenner took a Best friends to lovers and Enemies to lovers and rolled it up into the perfect angsty, emotion read like only they can!

Ried and Roxy are total BFFs, so much so they make a pack and spit on it when they are 10, so the can remain that way for life. Too bad you have to grow up and those stupid things called feelings have to get in the way, right? Roxy decides to tell Reid about how she is feeling on prom night and things just fall apart. Reid walks away and doesn’t look back. ( I wanted to throat punch him lol)

Moving forward, living their lives each pursuing their dreams, then circumstances have them meeting face to face since Reid walked away. It isn’t how you would think it would be. Emotions are stirred up, feeling may or may not linger and so many questions need answered. Now being back in each other’s lives will it be another flop like years ago or will they be able to move forward, take a risk, and make it something wonderful? Definitely worth the read to find out what happens to Reid and Roxy! Plus, you get some pretty fantastic side characters that make you smile. This is a 5 star must from Haley Jenner.

The feeling of empowerment and inspiration while reading Cross Your Heart by Haley Jenner is priceless. This book is so much more than a heartbreaking, angsty and epic romance. The message in the story is so relevant and important. And everyone needs to read it to let the message get imprinted in their heart.

At ten years of age,Reid and Roxy made promise to be best friends forever and not to fall in love ever. But heart wants what it wants. A drunken kiss and broken confession tore them apart only to be crossing paths years later. Reid is the famous Hollywood heartthrob and he is doing what he always wanted to be. But a piece of his soul is missing. And Roxy' s life is a mess. She is the disgraced star relentlessly shamed and trolled by media and people because of a scandal which was not her fault at all. So when she gets the chance to work with her dream director, she is hopeful. But Reid is the producer and actor of the movie. What will happen when years of suppressed heartache and longing comes out? Will Roxy be able to see beyond her negative self destructive self?

This story have some most amazing characters and addresses some most important social issues head on. Roxy is a rockstar. She is so brave and strong but she does not know it. She is real with scars and jagged edges. It is not rainbow and flowers. It is darkness, guilt, hurt and vulnerability. And I applaud her for facing everything so honestly and courageously. Reid is her strength and power. I absolutely adore him. He is broody, intense, overwhelming and intriguing. He has charm and sex appeal but his heart is most precious. They have a bumpy journey but it was worth it. Their chemistry was beyond greatness. It was that kind of love that hurts, heals and never let you go.It gave me all the feels. Haley Jenner broke my heart and then repaired it but I still feel the cracks!

Think about angsty, heart rending and intoxicating romance. Think about a breathtaking story with raw and gritty emotions. Think about a romance with a gripping and touching message. Cross Your Heart by Haley Jenner was everything. A love story with difference.

There is something special when best friends fall in love but what happens when it’s only one of them that falls? A pact of not falling for each other results in a hurtful breakup for 10 years .

Can time heal the broken friendship that once?

And how do you go from knowing all about each other to not knowing each other at all ?

The book also talks about an important topic which is the bulling that takes place on social media.
What are the effect of it and why are women still more criticised and judged then men ?

I really liked the screenshots that were in between the chapters ,it made the story more realistic and as a reader it gave you a reflection of what the consequences of malice comments put on social media have .

Roxy Monroe broke the cardinal rule when it came to her friendship with Reid Rivere, she fell in love with him. One night that confession changed everything. Fast forward ten years and Reid is an actor, and everyone loves him. Roxy is an actress and finds herself battling with her image. Both have made mistakes, and both suffer from such loneliness, but when the two crossed paths again, old feelings resurfaced and became hard to ignore. As the two navigate their new normal (for the time being), they both have to face old fears and new. The question is, is friendship all Roxy and Reid can have, or is something more in their future?

This is the first book I’ve read by Haley Jenner, and I was enthralled from the start. I LOVEEEE friends to lovers. This book though, this book was so much more than that. The words jumped off the page, and captured me, and I fell in love with the characters. I also have to say that I love that they hit on a tough subject when it comes to cyberbullying. I truly don’t understand people being keyboard warriors, but I love that this book talked about that tough subject and showed a strong woman handling that! This book takes you on an emotional journey, but I loved every second of it!

Do you ever finish a book that took you on such a journey that you immediately think "I want to read that again"? Well that is how I am feeling about Cross Your Heart by Haley Jenner. It is no secret that I am a HUGE fan of the friends-to-lovers story so this book was right up my alley. I expected a bit of unrequited love.... some angst.... what I did not expect was for it to hit me so freaking hard before I was even through 25% of the book that my eyes were in tears and I felt like my heart had plummeted into my stomach. Yeah! That hard hit! And the story also touches on a subject that people don't really associate with adults.... but bullying of adults is real! This story takes you through Roxy's journey making her way through the touch criticism of Hollywood.... and then there is Reid... swoon-worthy, jerk face, infuriating Reid! This book had my heart from the very beginning. Reid and Roxy as best friends was really the cutest way to start.... then the feelings come in.... and I was taken on this ride with Roxy. When she was heartbroken, so was I. When she was laughing, so was I. And when she was mad, angry and crying..... SO WAS I!!!! Great book!

This story is so good and original. It starts with the love of best friends, so real I think everyone can relate. Then when feelings change my heart was already going crazy for this couple. I swooned, I cried, I wanted to scream, and oh man things got hot. This book is so good I really want the authors to write a part 2 for these characters.

“Feelings are more powerful than people give them credit for.”

Oh My Word The FEELS in this book!!! My eyes were leaky, my heart raced, my stomach plummeted, and my soul just soared with the messages within this storyline. While I adore a good, solid romance, when that’s paired with a “teachable moment” that all of mankind could and SHOULD be inspired by, that’s one phenomenal book! The writing duo Haley Jenner has written one such book with Cross Your ❤️ Heart. My heart feels so incredibly full.

When Roxy Monroe meets Reid Rivere on the playground at the age of 10, neither of their lives were ever the same. There was no telling these two that girls and boys could never really be friends. Why? Well...because for one, they shook on it and sealed a pact to remain best friends for all time with the solidarity of childhood saliva!!! That’s a bond that’ll last forever, right?! They pledged to be true to themselves and each other and to never allow their feelings to develop any further than friendship. As the years move on, where Roxy went Reid follows, and vice versa. They could always count on each other, and knowing that they’d never jeopardize what they had by falling in love, which gave them a security like others only fantasized about. They were constant companions, until Roxy did they unthinkable and ruined everything. She broke the cardinal rule and has spent the past decade paying the lonely price for a teenage decision that still haunts her.

Reid Rivere is center stage celebrity status where Hollywood icons are concerned. He has busted his arse for 10 years to achieve his dreams. He is on top of the world in every way, except one...he left his heart behind 10 years ago and desperately wants to reclaim it. When he and Roxy come face to face in this friends to enemies to lovers story, they burst onto our Kindles with it an entire plethora of emotions!!! My heart broke several times over for Roxy! My gosh this poor beautiful girl/woman. Penalized repeatedly for just being human. 😭 There was a period there that I was so ticked off at Reid for the damage he caused, but I soon changed my tune as I listened to him pour his heart out to Roxy. I saw things from his teenage perspective that lacked the maturity to deal with overwhelming feelings of love. Heck, men twice his age struggle with the magnitude of love. There was also a moment or two that I was scared, so darn scared, that Roxy would never know how Reid actually felt. I wanted to throw up with apprehension!!!! Shame on you Haley Jenner. Tsk Tsk. 😉

Ultimately, a fantastic secondary cast of characters and the power of feelings helped to weave one heck of a meaningful romance read. I couldn’t put it down once I picked it up! It was addictive! I’m really hoping that we get much more of two certain someones down the line. PLEASE!!! I beg of you!!! They deserve a HEA and they’d be perfect for each other. 🥰

Now...for those of you who read romance for just the heat...YOU NEED dirty talkin’ REID!!! Hot Dayuuum that boy surprised me. Like I was heavy breathing and fanning my face when he and Roxy shared some very adult time. Wowza!!!
And Roxy....she was no slouch. That BJ scene was probably the most salacious and erotic BJ scene I’ve ever read. The writing was unbelievably descriptive and picturesque! Bravo for melting my yoga pants ladies! 🔥🔥🔥

This book has such a beautiful and powerful meaning behind the actual story itself. The underlining message about bullying people when you don’t know the circumstances is wrong no matter what was perfect. I adored that Roxy went through such horrible things but stood tall and even the strongest people can break at times. It made it seem so real that I hurt when she did, and I broke when she broke. The authors draw you in and take you on an emotional rollercoaster that you don’t want to end.
Roxy and Reid have been friends since they were 10 years old and Roxy walks up to a socially awkward loner, Reid and she declares they are best friends now. They then make a pact no falling in love with each other but as we know the heart wants what the heart wants. Roxy falls for him and tells him one night and of course Reid is angry and confused. Reid lashes out at her and I wanted to be mad at him because he tells her she’s ruined everything then leaves and they don’t speak for 10 years, but as I read the story I realized that Reid couldn’t help lashing out and yes he may have handled it wrong but he was only a teenager and teen years are already confusing so he can’t take full blame. These two had such a connection you could feel the heartache that Roxy endured and has been enduring since that one night, I felt my own heart break because the authors put you in the story that the emotions were tangible. After years apart they come back together but how do they navigate this new awkwardness. There is a lot that Roxy has to endure, and I admired her tenacity to dust her shoulders off and carry on as if she didn’t care. The authors made this book truly unique you will see when you read the book by the “posts” in between chapters because it truly shows instead of just telling you how awful people and social media can be. I loved everything about this book, Reid and Roxy trying to figure out their place in each other’s live now that all this time has passed, their love for each other, what they are willing to endure for each other, and Roxy standing up for herself, but above all this the authors shine a light on how bullying behind a keyboard can truly hurt and that it is not ok to put others down just because you see what the media shows it doesn’t mean it’s true and you shouldn’t judge others for any reason at all. This was beautifully done with a romance story woven in. I truly hope we get an Ari story he was an amazing person.

Haley Jenner is just a brilliant writer duo. Seriously, they’re amazing. I don’t know why I’m shocked anymore, after reading any of their books, because every one of them has been great.

“You want my story? You want to see the scars of my soul? They’re not pretty. But the treacherous obstacles of life rarely leave wounds of beauty.” .....I mean, come on.

I love a good “friends to lovers” story, and I love a good “second chance” story. This book gave me both. I went from laughing to crying throughout the whole story. I loved Reid, like for real. Yes, I wanted to throat punch him at one point but man did he win me over. I became his biggest fan. My heart broke for Roxy, more than once. She just wants to fulfill her dreams, love people, and live in peace. She seems to hit wall after wall, though.

“Feelings are more powerful than people give them credit for.”

This story brings a real light to bullying. I think that word is thrown around sometimes and it’s made it where people don’t really take it seriously. This book is eye opening. This book shows just how cyber bullying can truly impact someone’s life. Technology is a great thing, but it’s made being a mean person easier for those people. I think it’s important for people to know that your words, even behind a computer, can truly affect someone.

“The nature of bullying holds us back. Whether we’re the victim or the aggressor, all it does is breed hate in an already tumultuous world. Imagine if we could end that. Imagine if instead of manifesting negativity, we could inject more positivity, more love, more acceptance into the world,”

I feel like I highlighted half of this book, that’s how good it is. There’s one quote that I would love to share everywhere, to every woman...and I will, once the book is released. I feel like every person, especially women and young ladies, should read it and really feel it, deep down to their core.

Not only is this book a wonderful love story, with beautiful writing...it gives you all the emotions and the side characters are great. It takes real talent to make the reader fall in love with more than just the main characters, and these two authors do it brilliantly!! You need this book...seriously, grab it now!

Once again Haley Jenner does what they do so brilliantly, which is giving us ALL THE FEELS.

This is a friends - to enemies - to lovers romance, but with unique touches that makes it different from the rest.

This story depicts the relationship between Roxy Monroe and Reid Rivere from its very inception. We travel with them through their childhood, through their teenage years, and to the final demise of their very strong friendship. We rejoin them years later when they are reunited and journey with them as they try piece together the broken pieces of their friendship and hearts.

“We may have found forgiveness, but our minds won’t ever let us forget the pain we inflicted on one another”

The angst and heartbreak between Roxy and Reid is palpable. At times, it feels like living breathing entities that sit heavy on your chest while you navigate your way through their story.

We also, travel with Roxy through her struggle with acceptance; with herself and the public. We see her battles with social media and how “trolls” can eat away at ones feelings of self-worth and bring out ones inner demons. But, what we also see is her strength and resilience.

“My faith is held in myself”

HJ has a way of bringing very real social issues to light in their storytelling in a way that doesn’t overpower the main plot-line. This adds an extra layer of emotional depth to an already well defined story that hits us where it hurts.

Roxy and Reid! A story of how hearts can be forever changed, when you find that special someone that completes you; whether friend or lover.

“…my closest friend stuffed my heart full of him, leaving no room for anyone else.”

This is a beautifully written story about a love so deep that even 10 years of separation could not diminish it.

5 BRILLIANT STARS for Cross Your Heart!

When i first saw this cover i really liked it was so different but once i finished the book and really took it in it was so perfect and it’s one of my favourite covers ever.

Now that is out of the way i absolutely loved this story there was so much to it and it had me hooked from the start. What i loved most about this book was that we got a little of thier childhood enough to know where they were at and the rest was in the present and i loved it.

This was a best friends to lovers book with a twist and i loved that it was a little bit different but what i really loved about this book was the message it was sending in regards to bullying and social media and how it can impact lives and that’s what makes this book a freaking 10 it’s the issue we suffer with now and it’s so easy to sit behind a keyboard and say nasty things but the effect it can have on that person is horrendous and the way this author took on this subject was perfectly written and very sensitive to the matter.

I loved Roxy and Reid they were both really special characters and i loved them both. I loved both families and Brooke as well she was so good they were so prominent in this story, I love the friendship that they had and they really had great chemistry for friends.

One thing i will mention as well which i don’t normally talk about is the way the book was set out with the Instagram posts they were so awesome and just made the book so much more such a clever thing to do and perfect for this book.

If you want an awesome read with some angst and great story that has you turning the pages with some steamy scenes then this is the book for you. Haley Jenner has done such a wonderful job with this book and I wish I could read it again for the first time.

I CROSS MY HEART YOU WILL LOVE THIS BOOK!

Cross your Heart by Haley Jenner is Phenomenal! Not enough stars available for this book. It is so much more than young love between best friends that progresses to hate and then back to building that trust and friendship again to the ultimate soulmate love. The best piece of this book is the message about spreading love and kindness.

Reid is a sexy loner who broke Roxy’s heart when she confessed her love for him and he cut all ties with her. Roxy is so much like a lot of us who wear our heart on our sleeves. People were so hateful to her but she tried to ignore it and focus on the positive. I loved that Roxy was a strong heroine. My heart broke for Reid and Roxy’s relationship. It was like I was there with them feeling the love, pain and growth. When these two finally get together, the chemistry was like pouring gasoline on a fire. Their love undeniable.

My favorite quote from the book:
As dark as this world can seem at times, diamonds exist in the shadows. Small beacons of light that prove love is stronger than hate. It’s more powerful and it’s more resilient. To the people who offer compliments without agenda, to the people who choose to build others up instead of pulling them down. I see you, fireflies. I see you lighting the way. I love you. I appreciate you. You are the future.

My poor heart feels like it has been stomped on but thankfully it was picked back up and pieced together and overflowing with love and kindness. This is definitely a 1-Click Must Read Book!!
