And it’s slowly drowning him.

When Charlene Waters’s boss married the new CEO of Wolfe Enterprises after a whirlwind romance, she brought her assistant along for the ride. Charlie now has a cushy new job at the billion dollar company, and she’s excited to begin her new venture.

Roy Wolfe is a recluse. He’s never taken an active role in his family’s business, and he has no desire to now. He’s only in the office to deal with the fallout from his father’s murder. He, along with the rest of his siblings, have all been implicated. Meeting Charlie Waters with the gorgeous silver eyes complicates things. Their chemistry is immediate and passionate, but he can’t be what she deserves.

Roy knows his father was hiding something even more sinister than his brothers and sister can imagine—something he witnessed years ago that he can’t bring to his conscious mind.

After devouring Rebel, I was so excited about Recluse and Roy's story and Helen Hardt did not disappoint! I thought Rebel was intense... Well this just upped it a couple more notches!

I am in love with this new series.

Book two focuses on Roy Wolfe and Charlie. Roy is an artist, introvert. he is tormented by a past he can't remember. He meets Charlie when he notices her checking out his art. The two hit it off pretty fast. But Roy isn't used to this whole relationship thing and he's doing anything he can to push Charlie away. But charlie sees something in Roy and she wants nothing more than to fix him, to help him overcome whatever it is that is troubling him. But the thing is, he doesn't even know what is troubling him. He has a deep-seated past that Charlie and himself need to find out answers to. After Derek Wolfe, his father's death secrets are starting to surface, and even though we are getting some answers to things, so many more questions are being placed into the situation. Will Charlie be able to help uncover the things that haunt Roy?

Even though Roy is the one harboring secrets, he is breaking down a wall that Charlie has up. She also has hidden secrets. Will they be exposed? She wants nothing more than to help Roy and she is willing to do whatever it takes!

I loved this. I loved everything about Charlie as a heroine, I'd have to say she is one of my favorites when it comes to this author

And Roy? What was haunting him was dark and hidden within his subconscious. I could tell he struggled. He was mysterious from the start.. I loved that I was second guessing everything about his guy! I wasn’t sure what to expect.

Now, these two together? The passion and heat was evident and the chemistry between them was high. Both struggled with a past. They balanced each other out perfectly.

Gah, I am so engrossed in this series so far. Completely addicted. I can't wait to see what the author has up her sleeve for the rest of the series!

This was another amazing installment in Helen Hardt's new series Wolfes of Manhattan. It was full of mystery, suspense, laced with passion, and heat. From start to finished I was completely spellbound and couldn't put it down.

Another MUST READ by this author!

5 Stars!

Happy FriYay and cheers to a long holiday weekend! Have any fun plans? We’re going to relax, enjoy some cabin/lake time, and ooh & aah over fireworks💥!

A Secret lies trapped in the deepest recesses of Roy Wolfe’s mind.
And it’s slowly drowning him.

After inhaling Rebel, I couldn’t wait for Roy’s story, and it did not disappoint. Another bingeable read I didn’t want to put down. Helen Hardt delivered with book two of the Wolfes of Manhattan series! It was steamy, emotional roller coaster, and once again full of twists & Turns.

Roy is a recluse, a loner, and an extraordinary artist. He had a mysterious side to him and I loved it. Charlie is the executive assistant to Rock’s wife Lacey and she see’s something in Roy. Something he want’s to keep hidden. “There is no key.” The connection between Roy and Charlie was fast, and oh so … HOT! 🥵

4/5⭐️
What I liked:
🎨 Bad Boy/Artist
🎨 🔥Romance
🎨 Murder Mystery
🎨 Twists & Turns

I can’t wait to read Riley’s story next in Runaway.

If you’re in the mood for a suspenseful, 🔥romance… check out Recluse! Make sure to read Rebel first though.

After reading book #1 in this series, I HAD to read this book.

Roy Wolfe is the recluse of the Wolfe family and he has some dark memories that he has pushed to the far edges of his mind. To exonerate himself and his siblings for the murder of his father, he must recall those horrific memories.
As the family tries to figure out who his fathers killer is, he meets Charlie! Sparks fly quickly and Roy is not letting her go. Charlie is along for the ride as Roy remembers his memories.

I really enjoyed this story. I was excited to read more about Roy when he was mentioned in book #1.
Charlie and Roy both complimented each other. Their personalities went together so well. Helen Hardt always writes the best stories.

Helen Hardt is one of my all time favorite authors. The Wolfes of Manhattan series is absolutely amazing. Recluse is book two and the story continues where the last one ended but focusing on Roy and Charlie. Roy has a past to dig into that he knows he’s been blocking out and Charlie is with him every single step of the way. These two are so strong! I cannot wait to see what book 3 which is Riley’s journey brings us. I know it’s going to have some hard moments and a lot of depth, twists and turns. It wouldn’t be a Helen Hardt book without them! Amazing read!

Helen Hardt always seems to write books that draw you in from the start. I kept wondering how was she going to end this book of the Wolfe Brothers. Roy is an introvert like myself, and I felt drawn to him. I can relate to the different similarities of loving to stay in versus going out. And to think he found love on the first sight. And that love brought him out. Now I cannot wait for Reilly’s story.

All can say is WOW! How can a father be so cruel and ugly towards is own three sons and is one daughter. Even in is his death they are all implicated by the law. So many twists and turns and still struggling to find the truth, before they run out of time. One to the third one Runaway.

Much better than the first book which I rushed thru bc I wanted to get to the other books, tbh.

Roy came off much more quiet and reserved in the first book so in his own novel we got more and dove much deeper.

I felt his “insta love” with Charlie was much more honest and real … like they f lo in love super fast but in an honest way. Maybe a bit of trauma bonding but also with shared interest.

This main plot of the awful father’s death is so intriguing while also scary and sad. Definitely trigger warning material.

Letting go to move forward...

Roy Wolfe is the middle son. The artistic one, the quiet one. The loner. He is being tormented by a secret from years ago. He does not have the key to release his constant torment. For all of these reasons he does not get involved with anyone, especially a long term relationship with a woman. That all changes when he meets Charlie Waters.

Charlie is the Executive Assistant to Special Counsel to the CEO, Lacey Wolfe. Lacey is now wife to Rock Wolfe, CEO of Wolfe Enterprises. Roy was fascinated with Charlie when he sees her admiring his artwork in the lobby of Wolfe Tower. Charlie herself was also captivated by Roy. He is physically beautiful for a man, but she sees much more in his dark eyes. She sees suffering and pain.

With all the Wolfe clan suspects in their father's death, emotions are high to find out who killed their father. Roy is at a critical point with all the turmoil surrounding him. He needs to find out what he has buried deep inside him. He feels it may be connected to his father's death. He finds himself getting closer to Charlie as she gives him a peace when she is around him. He is hoping with Charlie's help he can figure out the deep seeded secrets he has buried and come out on the other side of his agonizing struggle. I look forward to finding out answers to the many questions in the next book of this series.

Helen Hardt has yet to do it again! What an amazing sequel to Rebel and excited for Runaway to come!

The level of passion between Roy and Charlie is like nothing I have ever seen before. Maybe it’s because they’re both artists who have a deeper, more intimate view of how they perceive the world or maybe it’s because neither were expecting what was to come between them.

Roy is the introvert of Derek’s kids, doesn’t talk much because he’s too busy paying attention to his surroundings. Charlie is a workaholic who takes pride in her career, always going above and beyond in her career. Charlie follows Lacey as her assistant to Rock’s company where she experiences an overwhelming, dark painting upon walking into the Wolfe lobby. There’s so much depth and darkness in the painting, feeling as though the artist was hiding something. While captivated and mesmerized, she hears a deep voice asking what she feels. This begins a true love story of the most passionate relationship filled with secrets waiting to surface.

This sequel to Rebel is filled with more mystery and finally a few answers. Grab some tissues, relax, and prepare for the emotional roller coaster ahead!

Started listening via audible yesterday after finishing Rebel, first let me just say that I love the switch up in narration, not that I don’t love Troy Durant from Rebel but it gives the story a more realistic feel when you switch narration up a bit. Although, everyone says my sisters and I sound exactly alike over the phone etc. so I don’t hate on authors too much about that as long as the narrators are good!…..😀😂😂

Anyway, onto Recluse, this book was just as good as I thought it was going to be. The story continues to unfold as we find out more of the mystery behind the late Derrick Wolf. We learn more about Roy and his new love interest Charley two artistic souls destined for each other but can Charley get pasts all of Roy’s secrets and mysterious behaviors….Well, you’ll have to read or listen and find out for yourselves. As usual Helen brings a great story with lots of plot twists and turns. Plus she always throws lots of hot sex into the mix so if you love it all as much as I do this reads for you….😜💕👌😁😁

Can’t wait for the next book in this series, coming out in June, which will tell Riley’s side of things…..what a ride that will be!

Roy Wolfe- Introvert and Artist
Charlene 'Charlie ' Waters- Executive Assistant to the council for Wolfe Enterprise

Roy and Charlie met while Charlie was admiring one of Roys paintings. Neither knew who the other was.

Charlie sees something in Roy, that he wants kept hidden.

Roy, never having much success in the "love" department that he kept trying to sabotage what was going on in his relationship with Charlie.

Charlie wants to heal Roy's soul from the torment she saw, when she looked deep into his eyes.

Recluse: Wolfes of Manhattan book 2 plays the game of hide and seek. Who's hiding and whose seeking? Read, Recluse to find out the answer.

Helen Hardt never fails to bring us the most heart beating, fists pounding and mind racing books. That's what keeps me coming back for more and more and more.

This is definitely a 5 star read, and comes highly recommended. Start with Rebel: Wolfes of Manhattan book 1

wow oh wow, what can I say about this book! WHAT A BOOK! I love helen hardt books and this is an other one to add to her book collection that I love! I love Roy and Charlies story and when I found out the title of this store I was positive this would be about roy because in rebel they had said he is recluse. SO I was thrilled to read this book because he is a shy, artistic and has low self esteem. And Charlie is smart, shy but cautious and does not want to cause her self any additional hardship. The cliff hanger at the end of rebel is picked up in this book. There is a dark secret that roy is keeping and is conflicted on what to do.

OMG Derek Wolfe is a monster!

How could a father do such horrible things to his own daughter?! I'm so glad that Roy unlocked those awful memories of his father and the Priest, Father Jim. What he saw in the basement the bloodied and bruised young girl. The Priest of all people is a sexual deviant, along with Rock, Roy, Reid, and Riley' sick sociopath/psycho, Father Derek Wolfe. That's most shocking of all, him and the Priest, playing awful sick sex games with his own daughter and another young woman, that we know so far. I'm so glad that Roy, and Charlie are together as a couple. She centers him. Gives him peace. That's why he finally decided to seek professional help in unlocking that awful truth. I think that Charlie, Has a dark side. She may have a story to tell. And poor Riley. She was her psycho father's sex slave from the time she was six years old until she was grown. Where was their mother during this time of abuse, against her children?! Her son's wasn't abused sexually. But they were physically and emotionally. Reid seems like he's a volcano waiting to erupt. I cannot wait to read his story. But first we have to read Riley's, heart wrenching horroring tale. The poor girl is all kind of screwed up by the hands of her father, and probably the Priest too. Eww😝😵.

Roy...the artist

The second book to the series. Knowing Roy, what he thinks, what he feels is... leave you soeechless. What this family has went through comes to light somewhat but in good ole Helen Hardt fashion she left us on a cliffhanger to find out what exactly has happened to Derek Wolfe, despite not liking the bastard.

This book zones in on Roy Wolfe, the artist and turns out to be another brother with a secret. It also let's you know more about Charlie, the sweet little assistant that was very innocent-like in Rebel, the first book. You hope that the two of them not only work out in the long run, but also talk more often and more open with each other.

When you're reading the series you can't help but feel the emotions that some characters feel. Pity, sadness, anger, and the feeling to want to bring a character back from the dead so you can take them out yourself..lol all because of the details Ms. Hardt gives you. It amazes me, which it shouldn't because I'm a HUGE fan of hers, the way she can put words into a sentence to tell a story and make you feel like you're there. Definitely going to the next book, Runway, so I can know more about the Wolfe family.

The second book of The Wolfes of Manhattan series will hit you hard.
Roy Wolfe is the quietest of the Wolfe siblings. He is the introvert, the Recluse. He is as amazingly handsome as his brothers but more shy and keeps to himself. He has secrets and he's not sure if he'll ever be able to face them. When you find the other half to your soul however that tends to change someone.
Charlie Waters is a career oriented woman and stops at nothing to do an over the top job. Assistant to Lacey Wolfe she is non-stop elbows deep in her new position at Wolfe Enterprises.
She's determined to do an outstanding job. Her first day she ends up meeting and becomes extremely attracted to Roy Wolfe himself. The attraction is mutual and a fire of passion heats up.
Struggling with finding out who killed their Father Derek Wolfe and finding their sister Roy starts to remember things he's buried in his mind.
He needs to unlock his hidden trauma and see what it means to the mystery of who really was Derek Wolfe and who killed him

This whirlwind of a romance takes flight and leaves us panting. The suspense is heart pounding and will leave you on the edge of your seat.

Helen is a master at keeping us glued to every page.

Recluse is a must read!

“Thank you for seeing me.”

Roy and Charlie’s story was a little hard to get into. Roy was a grown man but acted like a teenager that hadn’t had his “first time” yet. Charlie was a workaholic to the point I wanted to rip the watch off her arm and throw it down a mountain. Their story was just odd. Roy, the billionaire’s son who never flaunted his money and had a secret to Charlie always compared herself as poor girl from the hicks and just didn’t care for rich people. Like she wasn’t good enough. It just got a bit annoying.

The one saving grace to their story was the secret that Roy couldn’t seem to unlock in his head. He had suppressed some deep stuff that is just pure evil and when we find out who all is involved, I hope we get to see the end of their freedom.

Roy and Charlie’s chemistry was off the chart. They seemed like a good fit but both were just stubborn. I’m glad, towards the end they seemed to both grow up and act and sound like the adults they were.

I can’t wait to read Riley’s story and Reid’s. Reid is so “normal” out of all the siblings so I hope we find out what his memories are. And Riley, I hope she gets her justice.

great book

Roy Wolfe is gorgeous, talented and an introvert by nature. He was happy to continue to live his life separate from his brothers and sister. When his father was killed he couldn’t continue living in reclusion as all of them got under suspicion for the murder. He has to be more present despite his reticence but he starts to feel a bit better about it when he has a chance encounter with a beautiful woman that really seems to understand his art. Charlie is excited about starting her new work at Wolfe Enterprises even though she will be working on clearing the Wolfe family from suspicion. Being impressed with Roy’s talent and the man himself might be a complication and he insists on making it more difficult than necessary to keep a professional stance.
Derek Wolfe wasn’t a good man and there’s loads of skeletons in that closet. They are trying hard to unravel all the leads they get but every time they follow a lead there’s a lot of other threads to pull. I can wait to see where this story is going to end.

This is some series to read !

( There are triggers so please read the triggers before reading )
A series that must be read with book one and this is book two. Each book encapsulates the Wolfe family members, it's what they go through, from being mentally damaged to finding their soulmate, and with love as in all things, a path to healing occurs. The main characters are well-written in a manner that the reader is enveloped and becomes a part of them.
MMC Roy Wolfe is an introvert a recluse a damaged artist whose charisma is the silent sexy type. He is so sexy with his shyness. Some men are loud alphas, Roy is the silent Alpha his manner of silence emanating seductive sexual power.
FMC Charlie is a confident strong intelligent woman who is ethical with manners and she is sexy in her way. I wish all female characters were written like that. With backbone. There is a murder to be solved and the Wolfes family must find the culprit. This is an excellent read, a lot of sex and suspense. Happy reading....

The mystery continues…

Roy and Charlie - instaLove strikes again! But it’s all good cause we’re embracing this trope!

Let’s be honest tho, Roy was such a dick at times! I wanted Charlie to strangle him! He was definitely dealing with the fallout from his father’s murder and he was also dealing with troubling repressed memories. I don’t think that gave him an excuse for they way he treated Charlie at times. He was so closed off and kind of a tortured artist. I was glad Helen didn’t write him as a slut. The H in most romance books is quite “experienced” so I’m glad he wasn’t typical.

Charlie didn’t have an easy childhood either but didn’t suffer from abuse. She forged her own way in spite of her father and was driven to take care of herself without needing anyone. She was independent and didn’t take crap from Roy. I was so glad she put him in his place.

Really when you think about it, Roy wouldn’t have had his breakthrough if it wasn’t for Charlie pushing him. He needed her in so many ways. Their love was fast but they brought out good in each other. They also pushed each other to be better.

The continuation of the mystery of the murder of the Senior Wolfe.......Now it is Roy’s turn. He is an artist and sticks to himself. Since the new CEO which is Rock has taken over the Company with Reid’s help, Roy has been to the office more. There are so many questions that it boggles their minds. Who killed their father? How can all of them be implicated? During one of the meetings with all the brothers including Lacey and Charlie, her assistant, Roy gets his first look at Charlie. And BAM, the attraction is out of this world. How can that be? There is just something about her. Right away he makes his move. He does not ask why, he just does it. Surprisingly she seems to be ok with this. Before that she was admiring one of his paintings and she really got it. But so many secrets that are around with no answers are driving everyone crazy. Is this the best time to pursue this?

Helen Hardt knocked this one out of the park.

Roy Wolfe is sexy and artistic and everything you would hope for in an artist. I really love the mysterious side to Roy. What is he hiding? He shows so much emotion in his painting and really did not think much about it until Charlie came along. She has an eye for art and immediately noticed the hidden keys in his work. What is he really hiding? Will Roy be able to unravel all his secrets?

Charlie is an amazing and strong heroine. Roy breaks down her barriers one by one. He is immediately taken by her as she admires his work. She really gets art and the emotions behind each stroke. Charlie also has some secrets of her own. She wants to help Roy no matter what it takes. How will this story play out?

This is a MUST READ! I cannot wait to see what happens next.

Helen Hardt has really created some special in The Wolfes of Manhattan series. It's suspenseful, intriguing, mysterious and dark and filled with fabulous, complex characters. The insidiously vile nature of the murdered Derek Wolfe is revealed piece by piece as his children go about trying to discover who the killer is.

Roy Wolfe is an extraordinarily talented artist, definitely an introvert and a man with a secret that's buried so deep inside him that it may never surface. Charlie Waters' first meeting with Roy is very telling since she had no idea, other than the fact he was the most beautiful man she'd seen, who he was. She seems to see into a part of him that no one else ever has. Roy is completely captivated by Charlie's beautiful silver eyes and the woman behind them. The more time they spend together the more he knows Charlie is necessary to his very being.

This is Book 2 of The Wolfes of Manhattan.

This is the story of Roy & Charlie. Roy is a recluse. He holds a secret since childhood, and it is getting to him. Charlie is starting her new job at Wolfe Enterprises. The Wolfe's are trying to solve a mystery. Two of the brothers reveal a secret they've held for far too long. One remembers, and one needed help to remember. Things come to light as they try to solve this mystery. Roy and Charlie have electricity between them. Yes, it is a happy ending with them, but the mystery is yet to be solved, and yes the end is somewhat of a cliffhanger. This is not finished. This is a great story with a terrific story line. Helen Hardt always writes the best stories and series. I am so looking forward to the next book in this series.

This is the story of Roy Wolfe is a second born son to Derrick Wolfe, billionaire businessman, jerk extraordinaire.
Roy is a reclusive artist, extreme introvert. He meets Charlene(Charlie) in the Wolfe’s office building by one of his paintings on her first day of work there. Charlie is Roy’s sister in law’s assistant who is also into art and has a good eye. Their story is pretty interesting as Charlie sees Roy’s darkness and brings light to it. This book tells of his trauma that he has locked away so far down in his psyche for way too many years.Their attraction is intense but will Charlie stick around when she finds out how damaged he is? This book was better than Rocks book so I suggest you read both !
