Who knew that Nephilims and Fallen Angels were real?
Life as I knew it was unbelievably normal. Until it wasn’t. I had been accepted to the college of my dreams— UCLA. And I’d even met the perfect boy. Not that I was the boy-crazy type... that was my sister. Something about him was different, the attraction was undeniable.
All it took was one harrowing night for everything to change; all my plans and dreams came crashing down. When the dust cleared, I found myself the center of a world where Nephilim and Fallen Angels existed! They had been hiding in plain sight, right here in Los Angeles. Now, I couldn’t believe my new normal, instead of dorms and classes, I had to make life and death decisions. I was torn between both worlds, because both sides wanted me—they claimed that I was the key to winning this war.
But my life wasn’t just about me, and I’d be damned if I’d allow my sister to be dragged into this crazy world. She deserved a life as far away as possible from danger... a danger that started from the moment I met Alec.
Fortis was an amazing story that I couldn't stop reading once I got started until I devoured each & every page. There's a war beginning between the Nephilim & the Fallen Angels, with both sides wanting a powerful savior to choose them. A prophecy is out there, and it all surrounds a normal 18 year old girl named Gabby. Gabby is getting ready to go off to college at UCLA, when she meets the drop dead gorgeous, Alec. They seemingly have chemistry (and they do), but little does Gabby know, Alec is a protector in the Nephilim/Fallen world, and that world wants her badly. Gabby has a sister, who she loves more than anything else, and once Gabby learns about her place, she wants her sister out of it all, especially since there a lot of bad things happening, and she's convinced Alec is somehow responsible since they started when Gabby met him. There are so many twists right now, that while I wanted to actually drop f-bombs, I tried to stop them since this was a book about Nephilim & Fallen Angels, so it didn't fell appropriate. I know I know, I sound crazy since this is a story, but what can I say?! Back to the twists, for every one question answered, 20 plus popped up, so I'm not sure where my head is at, except that I NEED THE NEXT TWO BOOKS NOW! And that's all from me, but before I go, I would HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND that everyone joins this celestial party!
Not for me. I did not like the character much and everything happend so quickly. The heroine accsepted everything too quickly and Alec was trying too hard and was an over-the top angel. It just did not fit, no chemistry ..awkward and boring.
This book starts out with the intriguing idea of Nephilim and Fallen Angels in Los Angeles! No more dorms and classes for our first person character, Gab, or Gabrielle. She’s about to be caught up with a mysterious boy and change. Her sister, Celeste has premonitions of omens, shifts in history. She goes into a trance and speaks. “War has begun!” The scene shifts to Gabrielle and Lilly in a mall. The back of Gabrielle’s neck is bothering her, a seemingly small thing. She accidentally bumps into a boy with piecing gray eyes. Something stirs within her, and perhaps within him as well. Then, twice in one day she bumps into the same mysterious boy. He’s Michael…Michael and Gabrielle…very fitting. Electricity is in the air in this well-plotted edge-of-your-seat page–turner of a novel! There are beautiful, magical descriptions of Nature here and there that show the authors love for the natural world. But the paranormal reigns here! I give this novel five stars and two thumbs up! It’s an Electrifying Paranormal Adult Romance!
Well my rating is almost 3.75. I really liked the book but i had issues with it. The concept and the thorough investigation which has been done to make this story is appreciative and worthy of acknowledgement. the concept is very fascinating and fresh in my opinion but my main issue is with the pace of the book.
First, it is in the start. The beginning of the book does make sense but the pace is way too fast its like no time has been given for character building. Nothing has been given out about their past for the needed foundation of the characters and that can result dampening the interest a bit.
Second, there is uneven pace and ratio in different parts of the story, The beginning was a bit hurried but then when Gabrielle has been captured by Alec, the pace started to slow down abruptly, it can be a bit noticeable for some. Now, after Gabrielle arrived the things has more details as compare to before but its good but now again abruptly there is a fight after Alec kissed Gabrielle which could be epic but the details were less and it also finished way too early. But now pace and details are fine.
Thirdly, there was not enough space and time given for the relationship of Gabrielle and Alec, no definite arc has been there. Alec's character building was not given that much thought as compared to Gabrielle even though he was the main central character of the story for this book atleast. His character's arc was uneven. Even though he had to aloof by leaving gabrielle alone because of the prophecy but before that there were not enough moments for their relationship to be strong. Its like when she attacked after that, abruptly their relationship improved in an instant. No details plus it was very sudden and fast. The same has happened in the beginning, when alec met Gabrielle for the first time. Not enough incidents happened to solitude the beginning and the portrayal of Alec in the beginning made it seemed like he is the supporting character.
Fourthly, there were not enough supporting characters. If we exclude Mr. St. Clair and celeste, there was only Vic and Ti and thats it. No other friends or family of Alec. Lily character was also not properly discussed or presented. Its like yes, alec and Gabrielle but other than that there were no other character explanations and proper details.
The story need more details along with proper ratio distribution and strong foundation.
The character arc of Gabrielle was good and did make sense alongwith the concept, idea and details given to form a story. More planned details needed to give a bit more weight to the whole story.
But all in all the story and concept is good but just need a bit more work.
P.s.- this is my first review and i didn't mean to be rude or disrespectful and i genuinely liked the story. Hope to read the next book soon.

I do love books about angels, nephilim and all these things and I was looking forward to read Fortis. Overall, I did enjoy the book very much. It has all it takes: action, romance, some steamy scenes, and good characters. Yes, it does play a bit like the "standard" girl falls for boy who took her away from family stuff but in the end it turns out nicely and interesting. Sometimes though I had the feeling that it was a bit rushed - especially when it came to Gabby and Alec. This felt a bit "too quick" in the end, however, I still love those two. Also, I love the fact that Gabby is not forgetting about her other half, her sister. It got a bit confusing in the end with the dark one, the fallen etc. but I guess this is also part of the plan :) Definitely a good read and I already got book 2.
****
What an interesting concept in the Nephilim Romance world in which it seems so much has been done for, doesn't matter, I am still a stickler for it and Fortis was a super interesting start to the series!
Gabby is a typical 18 year old that loves her sister more than anything in the world, though she is her polar opposite. This chick seems SO much older than 18 as being the more responsible one of the duo. She definitely was not ready to meet the super hot and magnetic Alec, but once she did it changed and rocked her entire world!
The characters were interesting and I liked how the author kept us guessing for a good chunk of the book what is going on, though at times I was like JUST TELL ME, it definitely sweetened the story. There is so much going on that sometimes it felt a little off in how the characters reacted since we don't know the full picture, but other than that, I really enjoyed this book!
All in all if you are a fan of the nephilim world and want an interest new adult supernatural read, Fortis would be a good choice for you to check out. I am intrigued to see what happens next- 4 outta 5 stars from this girl!
PS: A HUGE thank you to PC Benson and Enticing Journey Book Promotions for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review!
“This beginning was all! I’ve always love stories about angels, Nephilims, fallen angels pretty much everything related honestly and this book was absolutely perfect! Such an incredible introduction to the series. The characters were splendid but I wished we would get to known them better but still they were brilliant. The background and the story were fascinating and intense, page after page the story kept getting better and better.
Gabby might seem like the typical 18 year old girl but she’s nothing like you might imagine soon after meeting the incredible handsome and hot Alec!!
If you as me love this paranormal stories, Fortis is the book for you. I can’t wait to see how the war continues between Nephilims and Fallen Angels!!"
This was such a great start to a series! The characters were brilliant, and the story and background were captivating. I could hardly put the book down! I'm eager to see how the war between the Nephilim and the Fallen progresses and who all is involved. Will there be switchings between the different sides? Should be interesting! I can't wait for the next book so I can read more and see what happens with Gabby, Alec, Daemon, and Lilly.
The author sends us on a magical adventure in modern times with prophecies dating back to Adam and Eve.
The war has begun between the Nephilims and the Fallen Angels. Both wanting the powerful Savior on their side. Light vs dark.
With Alec as Gabrielle's protector, Celeste's premonition has come true in the prophecy. Which side will Gabrielle chose since her sister has a dark aura?
An enjoyable story. At times I felt there was too much description, slowing down the story. The rest of the time, it was a wonderful journey. I did not want to stop reading till the end, and now I need to wait for the next book. Gabby and Alec were "electric" together and the scenes between them were hot. I felt they made a good team. Again, I enjoyed this story and recommend it.
I received a copy of this story through Enticing Journey Book Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.
Title: Fortis: Nephilim's Savior Book One Author: P.C. Benson Reviewer: Lorraine Leatham - Rainey Day Book Reviews Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Nice start to The series. I enjoyed the characters. I am curious to see how the war between the Nephilim and the Fallen progresses. I admit this is not my preferred genre but it did hold my attention. Kudos to this new to me author.
I liked entering this captivating literary world between the nephilim and fallen and am excited to see where it leads in future books. I liked the characters I found them interesting and intriguing and can’t wait to see further character development. The book was a little different for this genre and I’m extremely glad that I chose to ARC this book.
~ ARC received from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review ~
A very interesting approach on Nephilim and Fallen Angels, an enjoyable read. Gabby though, even if is a likable charachter, seemed to accept too easy some things and not question them at all. Some parts were too fast and needed more background explanation.
This was an original take on the creation myth is and the role of angels, nephilim and humanity. The characters are interesting and the world building is good. I hope to see much more of that in the second book as well as deeper character development. The love story is angsts and ends on a cliffhanger. Recommend.
I read less than 50% and had to stop. Lots of grammar mistakes and changes between pretences from past to present. Some of which are even in the same sentence! When reading this book it is obvious to me that the author is trying to sound more intelligent and older with their words. Melancholy is used a lot and it’s not something an eighteen year old would constantly use to describe their mood. Sometimes there is lots of detail and others it is glazed over with very little. So far there have been three different perspectives. Viktors was completely unneeded. His portion could easily have been written in Alecs and it would make more sense because the book is about Alec and Gabby. So In conclusion this book needs quite a bit of work before I would reconsider finishing it.
