During her time as the United States Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley was undaunted in her advancement and defense of democratic and American values. As the Washington Post noted, she carried a “‘taking names’ attitude and willingness to give the notoriously anti-Israeli U.N. a wallop now and then.” Little wonder the Independent recently noted that she is “the rising star of American politics” and the Washington Examiner also labeled her the “finest US ambassador to the U.N. in over 50 years.” ‘NIKKI UNDAUNTED - Nikki Haley’s Most Powerful Speeches as the United States Ambassador to the United Nations’ brings together over 90 (ninety) of her most important and influential speeches on America’s foreign policy and international relations. Personally selected by the Liberty Press, the collected speeches of Ambassador Nikki Haley provide a frank and reasoned critique of the United Nations and her constructive ways to improve its effectiveness – while standing up for American values of freedom and democracy. The speeches cover everything from the urgent need for U.N. reform, the U.N.’s questionable Human Rights Council, challenging the U.N.’s anti-Israel bias, the conflict in Syria, the crisis of South Sudan, the oppression in Cuba and Venezuela, as well as the threats to world peace posed by Russia, Iran, North Korea, and terrorism. As Nikki Haley’s stature and political standing continues to grow in the years ahead, this collection of speeches will allow readers to gain a deeper respect and appreciation for her in-depth knowledge of global affairs and her conservative political thinking – including her powerful speeches about restoring America’s standing on the global stage. A Great read. The collection of speeches before the various organizations within and without the United Nations provided an access into understanding of the political, ethical, and functional shortcomings of the United Nations as well as the great possibilities for good. As one reads this book you cannot help but realize the great need for a strong persistent humanitarian voice is needed in the face of opposition to the values the UN was established to maintain. Thank you Nikki Haley for your service!
It's not that the book was bad but rather that it isn't really a book. Somehow I didn't see the fine print noting that this is just a collection of her speeches. I rarely enjoy a "boo" that is either a collection of speeches or a collection of op-eds
Simply brilliant. Without dwelling much, will attempt to give a gist of her personality through her speeches with minimal spoilers.
She really fought tooth and nail for what she believed in. Whether it is geopolitics (from Israel to Iran to North Korea to Venezuela to South Sudan to Nicaragua to Russia to Syria to Cuba to China to Burma), or social (on religion, race, multi culturalism, woman issues, corruption, human rights) her moral clarity on issues plaguing the society are simply phenomenal.
Her definitions and understanding of social problems are striking. Example her definition for corruption as transfer of wealth from the powerless to the powerful.
Until today I see that she always walks her talks. Some of her strongest traits that one can infer from her actions are as below
- As she often quotes from Elie Wiesel, she always takes a stand on issues driven by facts, truth, and values. Neutrality only benefits the oppressors.
- She believes that peace must be built on truth as substratum.
It is a huge loss for America that majority of its citizens didn't understand such an intelligent and sauve leader. Very few politicians have such clarity on thoughts and actions. She is one in a million.
Future US ambassadors to UN and diplomats should look up to Nikki as a role model for geopolitics. Stay away from looking up to crooks like Henry Kissinger with no values.
Gets pretty long and dry, as well as repetitive, if you have read her other books, as I have. But it does give insight into the United Nations organization and how much money the US gives, with what seems to be less and less influence on outcomes and objectives in alignment with what used to be the values our nation.
