Valuable read for any stage of business

There are so many nuggets of wisdom in Tiger by the Tail. As a business owner who is already 13 years in, there were many valuable reminders and take-aways. I found myself alternating between nodding in agreement and taking copious notes.
An easy and educational read.

What stayed with me most after reading *Tiger by the Tail* is its recognition that entrepreneurship does not necessarily become easier after the startup phase. In fact, one of the book’s central insights is that growth often introduces a new set of pressures that can feel even more overwhelming than getting a business off the ground in the first place.

What makes the book particularly engaging is the tiger metaphor that runs throughout the discussion. Rather than presenting business growth as a smooth upward climb, Marty Park captures the unpredictability, stress, and constant decision making that entrepreneurs face as their companies expand. Drawing on experience across multiple industries, he focuses on practical lessons rather than abstract business theory. The recurring tension between controlling a business and being controlled by it gives the book its momentum. I especially appreciated that the emphasis is not simply on achieving more growth but on learning how to manage growth without sacrificing clarity, stability, or sanity along the way.

This book will resonate with entrepreneurs who have moved beyond the startup stage and are facing the realities of scaling a business. By the end, the strongest takeaway is that success is not about holding on to the tiger longer. It is about learning how to tame it.

When you get wisdom in easy to swallow bites from someone who actually earned the wisdom the hard way, you should take as much as is offered, and be grateful! This book is filled with business wisdom learned by a guy who talks to you with sincerity and candor and a little humor. In reading this I could see more than just 99 secrets to tame and master my business, I saw some valuable life lessons as well.
I love the conversational tone of this book. It feels like chatting comfortably with a really good mentor. He tells you the circumstances of his lesson, what he learned, how it made a difference – all in a way that feels do-able. This isn’t a preaching or lecturing style of business book, it is a nitty gritty, roll up your sleeves and get busy kind of book.
If you are starting a business, take a week to read this book and really digest what it has to offer. If you are in business already – read it and have your staff read it. It is THAT good.

Nothing fantastic to take away from this one. Has the vibe of someone with excessive confidence throwing short hits at 'noobs'.
