The storyline was so different from anything I’ve read and it was so enjoyable to read! The illustrations were beautifully drawn and added a whole other dimension to the story. You can even feel the love the author has for each character in the details of their portraits and the imagery he paints with his words.
I also love the transformation of the main character. It left me feeling like I want my own character transformation to grow like Audra does.
I loved it and would definitely recommend this book to all ages.
I loved Cirque De Solitude! The language of the book is written like a screen play. The cover and interior artwork are phenomenal. Fun and creative story and characters. Good clean fun. I especially loved the ending of the book and the change that took place for the main character. It had me reflecting on connections days later.
This book is a fun adventure! The artwork is amazing and really brings the characters to life. I enjoyed the unusual way thoughts and conversations were written. I want to read it again and share it with my family.
Cirque de Solitude is such a wonderful book. It is beautifully narrated and filled with imagination, characters with unique personalities, interesting events - all packed in one extraordinary adventure.
The drawings and designs of the characters are amazing and work brilliantly together with the way the story is told, making it easy to imagine the world we're in while reading.
The book is filled with emotions. The constant conflict between thoughts and actions, imagination and reality is very present. We can see how the characters, especially the protagonist, get to grow and bloom as the story advances.
Cirque de Solitude is about the relationship between people, their differences and interests. It is about building trust in others and in oneself, and overcoming selfishness. There is this ever-longing desire for solitude which eventually gets transformed into a desire for caring, giving and receiving love.
I just finished reading this book to my children, and everyone loved it. My oldest said "It was really imaginative and interesting and really kept my attention!". From my perspective, I thought the book was very cinematic; each scene rendered with an acute attention to how my children and I would visualize the scenes in our heads. The characters were vibrant and the settings magical; with just enough blending of reality and fantasy to really pull us into the story. I also thought the pacing of the book was nicely done. As my oldest said, it kept the interest of my kids...not an easy thing to do.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read.
I have never related more with a character before than I did with Audra. Except for her being rich, and a few other things here and there, it was like looking in the mirror. This was a total shock and surprise because I did not know that that was what I was going to get reading this. The number one trait was Audra's craving for solitude, which I have been desperately seeking for months, (or years), now. Also, Audra's need to escape into stories and her fantasy world, which is what I have been doing for a very long time. Finally, her being timid, an introvert and fear of screwing up are all things I see in myself and that I am occasionally able to overcome. To see her character develop, but still stay true to herself, gives me some hope. Honestly, while reading this, I wished that I was in her shoes and found an island with wonderful circus people on it. Also honestly, I didn't know if I would like this story because it is not typically the type of book I would read, but... I am so glad I gave it a chance because I absolutely loved the story, plot, characters, and the illustrations! Especially the illustrations! This is definitely an animated movie that I would watch! Totally recommend it!
