Civil war sliced through the Spring Court, leaving the royal family assassinated and General Ashton imprisoned. Torturous years later, Ash finally escapes and embarks on a mission to complete the last order he was given by the late King—to locate his lost princess.
In a small flower shop, living a rather mundane existence, he finds a rare beauty named Hayley—who happens to be the rightful heir to the throne. It falls to Ash to convince her to accompany him back to the Spring Court and challenge the faux king for the crown.
Hayley’s only chance at survival is to stay close to the chiseled warrior’s side, even as they reignite the flames of war. Can Ash help her tap into the strength of her royal blood and awaken the queen within before the faux king tears them, and what’s left of their kingdom, apart?
Spring Warrior is a standalone steamy paranormal romance with a HEA. Each book in the Wyth Courts series will feature a different couple, with a complete story, and a HEA. Suited for readers 18+ due to language and sex scenes.
The Wyth Courts Book 1: Winter King Book 2: Spring Warrior Book 3: Summer Prince
I thought the first book couldn't be topped but I was wrong this is a wonderfully steamy adventure. Looking forward to what the author comes up with next this was a great read.
I'm giving this one the worst rating of all four books because of its (failed) potential. After the atrocity that was Winter King, I read Spring Warrior in the spirit of forgiveness; and to her credit, J.S. Dark (Juliana Haygert) does try to give reasons why her heroine needs to be abducted into a magical realm she never visited before (the male character also wrestles with his willingness to take her by force several times, which is an improvement, I guess? lol)
Hazel (or Hayley in some editions) is a female main character who starts strongly, with at least minor agency, some worldly knowledge and a desire to go things her way (or at least differently than the brute main chracter), but slowly devolves into mindlessly having a single goal: screwing her "mate" Ashton at every opportunity, including immediately after he to rebuff her advances several times, or during a particular awful incident in which he tries to make her understand his post-traumatic stress disorder, only for her to gaslight him and force herself on him.
After that, I didn't have much patience for anything else this book had to offer. For leaves' sake, there's gonna be a better way to write these stories!
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest! This was a great book ! Hazel is just living her quiet life. Then everything changes, when she meets Ashton. Ashton had been imprisoned for fifteen years by the false king. Now, he is trying to fulfill the real king's last wish. Find the rightful heir to the throne! Is Hazel really a Fae princess? Loved the characters + the storytelling ! It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book! I can't wait for the next book in this series.
Voto 3,5 . Malefica81 - per RFS . Bentornate Fenici!
Io e lei.
Be warned that the beginning of this book is dark. Dungeon, torture dark. This is book 2 in the series. Where the first one had funny, witty characters, this one has very serious ones. Ash doesn’t pass up a chance to mention that he was imprisoned for 15 years and hasn’t be able to anything for 15 years. It was kind of annoying. After the 5th time, I had enough. Then Hayley lets you know that he missed out on the world for 15 years. There are some cute moments like when they are dancing with the nymphs. Ash wants to fix his kingdom right this minute. For someone who has bided his time for 15 years, you’d think he has a little more patience with Hayley. She absolutely does not want to be queen or have anything to do with the fae. She doesn’t believe what her mom and Ashton tell her in the beginning, then after seeing her people suffering, she changes her tune. There are some events that involve the summer court in the next book so I suggest reading this series in order.
Actual rating: 3.5 So this book was a rollercoaster just like book 1. The story flows super nicely from book 1 to book 2 that im almost hesitant to consider them separate books. However, I loved those story of unlikely lovers, fated Mates story. Very much ACOTAR vibes and a storyline similar to Twisted Games by Ana Huang. Loved this book. And the omnibus is only 671 pages so this was a short read but I'm stoked for the next 2 books.
spring warrior by Juliana haygert. This author knows how to write an FMC. Hayley starts as a boring human but turns into a battle queen to be reckoned with. I love all their cursing terms that relate to their courts it's just funny as
This is book two after the Winter King but it can be read as a standalone. This is also a beautiful and short Fairy Tale. If you feel like reading a lighthearted and sweet Fae romance, Spring Warrior is for you.
Ashton was captured in the Spring Court after the war and has been in prison for fifteen years. However that is going to change with some help and pretty soon he will have to fight for his kingdom, his queen, his people and his unexpected mate.
Hazel is a young human girl living a quite and nice life with her mom but all of a sudden she’s going to meet General Ashton and her life won’t be the same again. Confusing feelings, magic, fae warriors and new friends that she is going to discover will shake her existence.
I liked the main characters, Ash is brave, honest, strong and loyal and Hazel has a good heart, many doubts about the Fae World and can’t understand what is going on, but she is sure of two things, the huge pull she’s feeling for Ash and her caring for the people that lives in the Spring Court.
Very enjoyable reading. Medium to fast burn and steamy scenes. The plot is well explained and although isn’t necessary, it’s better if you read this book after The Winter King so you can have the whole experience. It’s always fun to see characters from the previous book showing up here and interacting with the new characters.
I received a free copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.
With its engrossing writing style and plot, this totally reminded me of Sarah J Maas's ACOTAR series. My main "complaint" is that Spring Warrior wasn't long enough (yeah, 30 chapters, but I didn't want it to end!), so hopefully Mrs. Dark mentions Ash & Hazel in future installments. Definitely recommend.
No spoilers of any kind included. Spring Warrior I thought was fantastic! This makes the second book that I’ve read by JS Dark and I gotta say I’m really looking forward to reading more. So it’s going to be a big HECK YEAH I most definitely do recommend this book because I loved it and I think you will too!
Just like the first book, this one kept me hooked. I love Fae romance and JS Dark did a really good Fae romance! The character development was awesome and the world building was very good! I recommend checking out this series. You can read each book alone, but I suggest reading them in order.
This was significantly better than Winter King. Both of these read more like novellas than full-fledged books. The plots are rushed and, while I'm all for fated mates, there's no development there. It's like "oof, you're my fated mate and now we are in LURVE" and I don't care for that.
