It was an ordinary evening for Tamara Gibson, another lackluster night in her mundane life, until she found herself a victim of a heinous attack. One night changed her life forever. It was also the night she met him. A man who she was instantly attracted to, even through the haze of a concussion. He’d intervened on her behalf and saved her life, but he was someone who lived by his own set of rules. He was mean, irritable, unsmiling, and unmovable. At least to everyone but Tamara. To her, he was her protector.
Axel Yates was a tattoo artist who was sensitive about his work. When a scream broke his concentration, he couldn’t ignore it. On discovering a woman being savagely attacked, his protective instincts kicked in. Even through the blood and bruises, she was beautiful. He knew that he shouldn’t feel such an overwhelming need for a stranger, but there was no way around it. He wanted her.
When their worlds collide, will they be able to fight the darkness of the past and the threats of the present, or will they die trying?
* Be advised this BWWM book contains extremely erotic scenes and very strong language.
Well truly not what I expected...thought it could have been better than this!
A book by MS. Martin, I always jumped and grabbed it and this one was no contest, but I must say that 1) it was not what I expected and 2) it could have been better. When you look at the cover, then read the synopsis, this was everything that I would like: bad ass, alpha, tall, blond, MC, is not afraid to defend his woman's honor and make her feel the most precious being ever, and it was a Bwwm romance. But bruh, I don't even know what I just read. I mean it was my genre, it had the alpha, bad ass aura, but it stopped there. There was nothing, nothing to it. At least if it was a POV then maybe, but this narrative and explanative took so much out of the story. Tamara, boring, goody too shoe, sophisticated/bougies lady, did come from the hood, but better herself, independent but yet very childish, and gullible. Axel, supposed to be this hardcore bad ass MC member, strong, and unforgiving, yet he was just ther and acting as if he was more afraid than others were of him. I mean Jagger was the true bad one out there. This story has so much potential, but somehow the ball was dropped and this was so not existent and so not what I thought it was going to be. I mean Axel should have been more developed, more hardcore, more like those MC's bad mouthed man who only speaks a certain ways because this is how the members are, and yet we got a member who so happened to be civil and was just trust in this world...so not what I wanted to read... This means more in depth research was needed. It could have been one of those Epic story where Tamara was the target and Axel made sure to not only get her, protect her and love her, but he is going to stand against all odds, even his MC for the racism and not understanding of who she is to him. She was portrayed as a nobody, even Axel was a nobody when this was there stories. That said, nevertheless all that, MS. Martin is still a good writer whom I will continue jumping the gun as soon as a story from her drops. Hopefully the next one will not only be better, but it will be a POV and better researched or explained.
It started off okay for me. I liked that Tamara and Axel discussed race however some of Axel's comments gave me side eye. “You’re not one of those people who will notice race all the time, are you?” Granted, he wasn't dismissive of Tamara's response but this came off as "I don't see color and neither should you."
I felt that Tamara and Axel's romance should have been developed more. There was a lot of telling instead of showing. I also felt that it was unnecessary to add the military aspect in with the firm.

Not a bad read. Lots of action packed into this romance story but I felt like that more time should have been spent developing the love story between Axel and Tamara. It seemed to advance superficially and there was so much story surrounding the suspense of who was after "Sassy" that the love story didn't get the attention it should have and I didn't feel any connection with either character unfortunately. Also found myself wanting the story to wrap up which is never a good thing. So it was just kind of ok for me.
An Alpha’s Trust gave me everything I didn’t know I needed. My favorite tropes: BWWM, an MC who is mostly good but will put people down to protect theirs - and others, insta love, and no angst tearing the couple apart.
Kasey Martin gave me a book I couldn’t put down with enough twists that I didn’t see what was coming. An author I will definitely be reading more titles from!
I enjoyed reading this book so much! I couldn't put my kindle down! I enjoyed Tamara and Axel journey to love! I enjoyed the storyline and the love that was displayed between them! Such a fantastic book!
I loved all the twists and turns of this book. It even had me stumped and that's very rare. I loved the characters and would like to read more about this MC.
Started out typically, cheesy biker member names included. As the story moved along the plot got better, the dialog smoother, the characters chemistry more believable. All in all a pretty good read with a good amount of passion, action and excitement.
Axel is a beast! He rescues a damsel in distress, and is immediately smitten by her. After a short conversation he decides he has to have her. Tamara, straight laced auditor, meets big burly Axel, in a not so great circumstance. However, she is intrigued by the large, handsome and dangerous looking stranger. They clink instantly, and are inseparable. Then the twists and turns begin! Just when I thought I had it figured out, wrong again. Good story with love, brotherhood, friendship, vengeance and a whole lotta drama! Great job! 👍👍👍
These two are hilarious. I sure know how to them. Axel is one mean son of a gun but he don't play when it comes down to his woman Tamara. But she is feisty with a lot of sass. The perfect couple. Axel needed a little sass in his life. Tamara finds herself in danger and Axel is just the man to keep her safe.
I enjoyed Axel and Tamara’s story. It was pretty good. The action and the mystery made it even more enjoyable. I look forward to reading Kasey Martin’s next release. Good job!
4.6 Stars This book was very good! I didn't know what to expect from this author as I have never read any of her books before.
Ok, about the book...Tamara is an auditor for a firm and when she has car trouble in a not-so-great neighborhood, two men jump her and pull her into an alley. Axel, who is in a motorcycle club and owns a tattoo shop, comes to her rescue after hearing her scream, and sparks fly. They end up dating and then he introduces her to his MC crew to see if they are even meant to go further in the relationship as this club is basically Axle's family. Then, someone puts a hit out on Tamara and Axel does everything in his power to protect her, even digging around in his past.
My Opinion: I really liked Tamara and Axel's characters. They were both strong leads without being her being too dramatic and him being over the top. I like the fact that Tamara was independent and a badass, but still showed vulnerability and allowed her man to take the lead without second guessing him too much. The author even touched on the differences between their races in the beginning a bit, but didn't continuously bring it up throughout the story for no reason.
I also liked the suspense behind the story. You would see little clues pop up through the story that slowly start to piece together, but you knew you still had more pieces to find. It kept me wondering and guessing through the entire story.
The character development was also well done. I felt the brotherly bond the MC Hounds had for each other. The only reason this book wasn't a 5 star is because there were a decent amount of grammatical errors that stopped the story from flowing smoothly.
Axel, a Tattoo artist meets Tamara, an auditor when he saved her from attackers. One look and conversation solidified that he had to have her in his life. Now, with Tamara in danger due to a negative audit finding at her job, Axel takes it upon himself to protect his “sassy” from the danger that threatens their new relationship.
This story was ok. I wasn’t blown away, but it did have parts that I could appreciate. I enjoyed learning about MC clubs. I never really read a MC romance before so I was intrigued and excited to learn. I felt she painted a realistic picture of the conversations that IR couple’s have. It was real, unbiased and not dismissive. With that being said, the story felt rushed and I would have liked more development of the main characters.I didn’t know anything about their past, especially Tamara. Why doesn’t she visit her family? Why is she just calling three times a month and sending money? The relationship of Tamara and Axel didn’t feel authentic to me. Yes, it was insta-love but I still couldn’t feel any connection. Even with them making love, there seem to be a disconnect. It just didn’t feel real like a new couple enamored with each other. It felt forced. Also, the slut shaming was a no for me too. Why must we have a man shame the same woman that he slept with? I couldn’t get with that either. I felt it wasn’t needed to show that Axel wasn’t interested. Overall, this book just wasn’t a good fit for me but I will continue to support the author
4.00 Stars. (BW/WB) A Kindle Unlimited e-book edition. Motorcycle Club. Suspense. Insta love. Aside from an interesting theme, good character development and other elements of good storytelling; for me, two things made this story a good read, the author allowed the reader to witness the protagonists grow romantically before their sexy times commenced and the yen and yang of the interracial couple and their lifestyles: the heroine, Tamara "Sassy" Gibson, an upper middle class bougie black auditor for a lucrative custome designing firm and a hero, Axel "Ace" Yates, a white tattoo artist/owner and enforcer for the Hell Hounds MC and former government special elite covert operations team member. Axel and his Club President rescue Tamara from two muggers, Tamara thinks of Axel as her rescuing angle and Axel thinks of Tamara as the woman he wants as his own. The story's drama and suspense brews and collide when events at Tamara's work place and people from the Hell Hounds and Alex's former job converge. I would like more Hell Hound MC stories with Jagger, Blue, Crush, Big Black, Fridge and Tamara's friends Olivia and Abrielle.
This was an "Ok Read" with really good passion between the hero and heroine and two decent mystery subplots.
What I Liked: 1. The passion and chemistry between the hero and heroine.
2. The pacing of the story was pretty good.
3. I really liked the epilogue.
What I Didn't Like: 1. Too many subplots, conflicts, and suspects. It weighed the story down and made it seem one dimensional, despite there being so much going on.
2. While the author describes Tamara as very successful and competent at her job as an auditor. At the first sign of a discrepancy in an important accountant she runs to not just her supervisor but the coowner of the company without performing any of the procedures that the company has in place for these scenarios. Like, huh?
3. No one calls the police about anything. Absolutely nothing, and the cops don't show up when a bunch of people start disappearing.
This is a story of how being in the wrong place at the wrong time leads to rescue and love. I loved Tamara and Axel 's story! From start to finish this story had me hooked very well told and written. It wasn't your typical good guy alpha story which I loved bad boy's need love too. Axel was an unapologetic bad boy who didn't take carp from anyone he loved hard and played harder. And the way him and Tamara met made this one heck of a story from start to finish very well told good story plot easy to follow with few if any editing issues. I loved the supporting characters also and feel like some of them have a story to tell so maybe in the near future we'll read more about these bad boy's and the women they love cause Tamara was nothing to be played with also. Very good story.
Axel /Ace and Tamara/Sassy make a wonderful team. I love the fact that Tamara is no wilting violet but a strong and articulate woman. I love Is set Martin's books but there were so many unanswered questions that were not satisfactorily explained. Even down to the fact that (spoiler alert) How did Axel know Tamara was expecting and having twins. Much of his history was never revealed. But these characters were sexy and the chemistry sizzled from the get-go their relationship was special and as it develops, they make an amazing team. Great read though some typographical errors were in evidence, it did not spoil a basically good read.
That was a Great read. Wonderful characters and storyline, full of i intrigue and mystery. FATE has a way of placing two unlikely people together when you least expected. About to be violated and murdered ,Axel came to Tamara's rescue when everyone else pretended not to hear her cry for help. Unbeknownst to him that he was rescuing, and meeting the love of his life. But, life is never do simple, they will go through a lot of hurdle to end up with their HEA! GRAB A COPY & Ace and Sass will tell you all about it! Ps. We would like to know Axel's background, where he is from? Why he doesn't talk about his pass? Who are his parents... Etc.????
This story is great. The characters were involved not only in love but real life situations. The heroine met her hero and she needed help.. He was a serious man but she was not afraid of him. He was also enamoured with her as she was nothing like the women he was used to. The relationship progressed and she was lucky she had met him as he was able to protect her. He was not as arrogant as other heroes I have read about. The plot and the real life situations - jealousy and greed made me want to see what happens next. The conclusion was as expected and they lived happily ever after.
I wanted to make sure I put the date, this is my second time reading this. I read it when it first came out, 03/2020 at that time I read a lot of stories and did not leave a review. I wanted to escape the pain and drama, through reading only. I’m coming across alit of stories I read and purchased but did not leave a review. When I come across a great story I will read it over and over again, now this was so good that I thought for sure Jagger, and Big Black or Olivia and Abrielle. They all deserve a story I would definitely read it especially if it’s about Abrielle she has a month on her. Love reading it again.
The author managed to write a good MC book and tie it with a corporate mystery. I liked how both their lives were intertwined. I loved Axel and Sassy/Tamera was also a good h. She was weak or hysterical, which is rare in the genre. The only thing I would I’ve liked more of, is discussions about their aspirations. Is she still working for that promotion or did she stop with 4 boys? I would have liked to know more about Axel’s background. Where is he from, his family, how did he end up in that city? How did he meet Jagger?
Loved how Ace loved and protected Tamara. Ace can across Tamara when she was being attacked by two men in the alley behind his shop. The brotherhood of the Hell Hounds was awesome, they all looked out for one another. The last part of the book which should have been the climax seemed kind of rushed. Also the description of Ace/ blonde looking like a Viking is not the man on the cover. If you love Romantic Suspense, and a super hot sexy Alpha this is for you.
I liked this. Most IR bwwm the woman is usually some jelly spined sap, afraid of everything and/or never stands up for themselves and overly forgiving. Not this time. Tamara or "Sassy" as she is dubbed kicked ass, and took action. There was kind of a twist, I mean you kind of knew where is was going but the writing kept you engaged enough where is wasn't annoyingly predictable. The descriptives were hot and the action was ... Well... Action packed. It wrapped up nicely and then "happily ever after" was just right. A definite recommend.
Ace and Sassy’s relationship had started so unconventionally ( he saved her from being raped and possibly murdered) and it had been a rollercoaster ride since, but now after a whole lot of craziness that involved murder for hire; assassins, intrigue and demented love; they were finally ready and able to settle in and begin to live normal lives just loving one another. Even with all the drama and crazy plot twists, this book had me laughing. Great job, Ms. Martin. Loving your books. I hope Jagger’s story is in the future.
'Ehh' is literally only word I can think of to describe this book. There was a lot of potential but in the end everything just felt lacklustre, even with the conflict due to to the Metro Police accounts I was skipping chunks of texts because it wasn't that engaging and even though this is a short read I was very close to DNF'ing.
Tamara and Axel's romance was cute but it was very underdeveloped and surface level and somehow to me almost all of the characters felt 'dead', meaning there was not much too them and no definite personality to attach each one too.
But at about 78% of the book; the word “entail” was used instead of “intel” and I couldn’t believe it. There were other errors; but this was the worse. Editors are your friends and if they aren’t working out; find a better one. I’m getting to the point where I won’t even read some authors because their works are so messed up. I would hate to add this author to my growing list.
It was a tragedy the way that Axel and Tamara first met each other and how he continued to be her saving grace especially with his past coming into their present. It was really messed up the lengths that Lip went to in order to help Torri and going against his brothers. I wanted to know what was A-five's name though. Overall, this was a good standalone that I enjoyed reading.
I loved this book, this story, Axel his mc club and tam she was a perfect lady for him. I loved how she wasn't the type we read about all of the time argumentative, bull headed causing more trouble than she is worthy. She didn't press him about his past I like that, she trusted axle and lessen .course she could still handle a gun and go getto if she had to. And she proved that. Great book more like this in the future I hope
