Nålbinding is an ancient method of creating textiles with a needle and yarn. Rows of stitches are made with a big, blunt, large-eyed needle, resulting in a firm fabric with a lively surface.
Nålbinding technique dates back thousands of years, but it still has many contemporary uses. This book teaches you several Finnish Iron Age and medieval stitches and gives you a wide selection of instructions to mittens, socks, hats and scarves.

This is an excellent book that describes the ancient craft of nalbinding which predates knitting. I have a dear friend in Iceland who is having a nalbinding needle made for me so that I can learn to do this. You know since I need to have one more craft to learn.
This book might very well be the most beautifull worthless book for LEARNING nålebinding I have read. Lots of nice pictures and good and interesting chapter titles. But the descriptions of how to do the stiches are excellent half way through, and then it feels like the author forgets to explain the last half. There is even a "how to get started" that asumes you gave already started.
The book is not very structured a jumps back and forth between subjects.
When that is said, this book is very interesting if you already know the stiches. Then i gives you some interesting guidelines on how to use your knowledge.
Please also note that this book does not teach historical accurate nålebinding from the "age og vikings". It is a modern approach with modern design ideas. This is in itself nice as it helps get the craft evolving.
Therefore 3 stars as it is both excellent and completely useless at the same time. I hope for a new edition that correct lack of explaining.
Entä minkähänlaista lankaa jaalan lampaasta on mahdettu tehdä.
Vähän pitemmälle ehtineelle neulaajalle tämä lienee ihan hyvä referenssikirja ja neulakintaiden historiastakin kerrotaan mukavasti.
