Romance, humor, and adventure come together in this fun, fast-paced fantasy series.
Moss Forest Orchid:
What happens when a feisty adventuress, a lord looking to make his own way in the world, and a handsome sea captain set out to find Kalae’s rarest and most valuable flower?
Trouble—and lots of it.
Greybrow Serpent:
The captain of the Greybrow Serpent is the last man Lucia’s willing to trust. But he’s the only one who can save her.
Wildwood Larkwing:
“Till death do us part” might come sooner than Lucia imagined.
Lily of the Desert:
Avery swore he would return, but one question haunts Lucia's every waking moment: Can anyone truly trust the word of a pirate?
Shari L. Tapscott writes young adult fantasy and humorous contemporary fiction. When she's not writing or reading, she enjoys gardening, making soap, and pretending she can sing.
She loves white chocolate mochas, furry animals, spending time with her family, and characters who refuse to behave.
Tapscott lives in western Colorado with her husband, son, daughter, and two very spoiled Saint Bernards.
This is a fun, flirty, and fairytale-ish Indiana Jones/Romancing the Stone kind of romance; even my non-romantic, action & adventure loving husband has read & reread it!
Moss Forest Orchid: Lucia & Sebastian are former partners who reunite to track down a valuable orchid. Handsome sea Captain Avery Greybrow develops an intervening interest - but is it in Lucia or the potential profit?
Greybrow Serpent: Captain Avery Greybrow returns to rescue Lucia just in time to save her from the bounty he helped get placed on her head - but she might kill him before he can.
Wildwood Larkwing: Lucia gets introduced to Sebastian & Avery's world, and can't wait to leave - till she discovers that something under-landed is going on!
Lily of the Desert: In which Thane Inc goes on another flower location mission and finds a whole lot more than any of them bargained for
*Clean romance level: passionate kissing, some innuendo (but nothing graphic), and implied sex between married characters (but no graphic details are given)
I LOVED this series, I actually didn't even take the chance to write reviews for each book because I was too busy diving into the next one. Definitely on my favorite lists!!!
I enjoyed reading this series and look forward to trying other books from this author. I loved the characters, their development, and adventures. There were a few times that I thought the situations they found themselves in were quite unbelievable for the characters and their personalities (spoiler alert)..I.e. the two situations where potions were drunk. No one would have been that stupid, much less a)someone in a suspicious situation where they know there is something fishy going on, B) from someone you know has specifically tried to hurt you in the past and is up to no good, and c)someone who has already been poisoned by a drink. Those scenes, especially the 2nd time, were beyond annoying...no one would have done that, much less our normally smart and intuitive characters, it made the story feel rushed and not thought out. That was one book. And then in another book, bad things keep happening to a character, she didn't trust another character, yet she ignores voices/sounds and our supposedly smart and resourceful characters don't catch on until way too late, again, it goes against the character development through the first 2 books...it was a bit maddening. I would have given the first two books 5 stars and the last two, 4. Honestly, I just skimmed parts of the last book it , didn't feel up to the caliber of the first 2 or even the third, though I did enjoy it.
I need to make a new bookshelf labelled #FictionalMenRaisingTheBarForRealMen or even better #MenWhoAreNotTrashBecauseTheyAreFictional
Because really Captain Avery Greybrow would fit nicely on either shelf. Lucia was a delight she reminded abit of Louise le Blanc from serpent and dove ONLY the louise from serpent and dove. ̶̶̶I̶̶̶ ̶̶̶d̶̶̶o̶̶̶n̶̶̶'̶̶̶t̶̶̶ ̶̶̶a̶̶̶c̶̶̶k̶̶̶n̶̶̶o̶̶̶w̶̶̶l̶̶̶e̶̶̶d̶̶̶g̶̶̶e̶̶̶ ̶̶̶a̶̶̶n̶̶̶y̶̶̶ ̶̶̶o̶̶̶t̶̶̶h̶̶̶e̶̶̶r̶̶̶ ̶̶̶b̶̶̶o̶̶̶o̶̶̶k̶̶̶s̶̶̶ ̶̶̶a̶̶̶f̶̶̶t̶̶̶e̶̶̶r̶̶̶ ̶̶̶S̶̶̶&̶̶̶D̶̶̶ ̶̶̶t̶̶̶h̶̶̶a̶̶̶t̶̶̶ ̶̶̶b̶̶̶o̶̶̶o̶̶̶k̶̶̶ ̶̶̶w̶̶̶a̶̶̶s̶̶̶ ̶̶̶a̶̶̶ ̶̶̶s̶̶̶t̶̶̶a̶̶̶n̶̶̶d̶̶̶a̶̶̶l̶̶̶o̶̶̶n̶̶̶e̶̶̶
Journey through a new world with Lucia and her companions! The engaging characters, the banter, chemistry, and genuine affection between the characters just sets this series apart. Lucia is an adventuring heroine with enough flaws to make her realistic and endearing. Her affinity for her pet dragon is adorable (little trouble-maker though he is!). And I'm always amazed at Ms. Tapscott's ability to take such realistic characters and their romantic interests and make them all lovable in spite of massive wrong doings by certain characters. I'm impressed. I really liked that this series felt like a longer story arc. I expected it to come to a close at the end of the third book as it felt like it could be the end of the story arc. I was so glad there was book four with the "rest of the story." And the bonus chapter at the very end was the perfect touch. I highly recommend this series. It's every bit as good as all the other books I've read by this author. You won't be disappointed.
This series is one of my FAVORITES!!! Following Lucia & Flink’s adventures is so entertaining!!! I was all about Sebastian until seeing how Avery’s love was so much healthier. It is so important to have someone that accepts you for who you are & compliments that instead of stifling it. She would have withered away with Seb. LOVE the twins & Flink/Pink twist!!! I was in tears through the whole end!!! Very satisfying read!!! 💞💞💞

I really enjoy Sheri's books. This is the 4th series I've read from her. She does not disappoint. Her protagonist aren't annoying like most other "girl" characters, although in the 3rd book she was getting a little too sarcastic at times, but whatever... I liked her. Also, I'm NOT a fan of love-triangles and was really nervous I was not going to like this book, but Sheri came through (like she always does) and gives us a fun story with a very happy ending.
I absolutely loved this series! I normally don't leave reviews but I had to for this series. Lucia was hilarious and relatable. Captain Avery Greybrow... ugh, he was amazing! Sebastian was also another great character.
What's not to love in this series? Well developed and engaging characters that stay true to their design. Fast paced adventure and unique story line. A romance to rival Twilight! And it's blessedly CLEAN😁. I lost so much sleep because I simply couldn't put it down. Well done!!!
I really like this author. Creative, clean, adventurous, drama, humor, romance. Her stories check all the boxes for me. I wasn’t sure how this storyline would end up but it was great. Whetted my pirates of the Caribbean and raiders of the lost ark in the whole collection.
I'd give this set of books a 3.. for I did like them--they were good fun fluff reading, with a touch of realistic emotions among people. The dragon (Flink--what a completely silly name) was cute. I'd read more by this author in this vein.. after a detour to other books first, though
I’m not sure why I waited so long to read this author. My 14 year old told me it was one of her favorites and now I can say it was one of my favorites too. Can’t wait to read more by this author.
The protagonist was just so refreshingly relatable. Instead of being perfect, she was impulsive and did a lot of dumb things that she didn't spend much time regretting. The stories were non-stop adventure and it was such a fun read. I absolutely loved these books.
I really ended up falling in love with this series. The adventures kept me longing for me and the interplay of characters showed so much humanity and growth.
I really enjoyed this series. All the characters felt like friends by the end and the dragon...how cool! I love Avery an the pirate or not thing. I would love to see this just go on and on. The mysteries and the characters are just so cozy and enjoyable. I will come back and reread this time and time again.
This series started out a little weak, and hit a few lows now and then. But I ended up really enjoying the ride, overall. Mostly because of Avery, to be honest. So much so, that’s I’d have actually loved for the bonus chapter to be about the group’s return to Silverleaf: I never much cared about Sebastian throughout and could never fully figure out what he was about. I needed up feeling like Adeline was shortchanged.
I’d love it if there was more to Lucia and Avery’s adventure with pups all around.
I enjoy Shari L Tapscott's books, and this series may be some of her best work. The characterization, plots, world, and fantasy all wove together so beautifully to draw me in and left me reading late into the night.
