Recently divorced single-mom, Sierra Torres’ life is a hot mess. And now, her car’s been stolen. When she reports the theft, a tall and broad-shouldered blast from her past walks in. Years ago, he disappeared without a trace after a perfect seven minutes in heaven.
The provider. The supporter. The survivor.
Police officer Matthew Hunter lives to serve and protect, not only the people of Baltimore City, but what’s left of his family. He’s the responsible one—the reliable cop. Seeing Sierra again ignites a fire in him he thought he extinguished a long time ago. One look into her fiery brown eyes and it all comes back. But Sierra's not interested in romance—just a little fun.
However, hearts have a mind of their own. Feelings deepen each time they see each other. Soon, that’s not enough. They crave more. But when things begin to unravel after their past catches up with them, are their seven minutes in heaven over for good?
J.L. Lora is a Dominican-American author of contemporary and romantic suspense. Her stories explore the dark side of good characters—people living in the gray areas of life—playing the cards life has dealt them. Her stories manifest her love for badass alpha heroines and take-your-breath-away alpha men.
DNF 56% The relationship between the two characters felt awkward and forced. It just felt too quick, random and just odd. It did not feel like they had a history. I did not like them much sadly.
Some Mornings is the second book in the series, Sometimes Love Happens. We met Sierra in Some Nights. She is Saona's sister, and is a recently divorced mother, who moved to Baltimore for a new life with her children. One night, while working in the bar owned by Saona and Jax, her car is stolen. After reporting it stolen, she's interviewed by two cops, one of whom she knows, Matthew Hunter, Matt.
She knew him 10 years ago while they were both teenagers in New York. Matt is as surprised as she is when they meet. They both had feelings for each other. Sierra only knows that Matt and his family disappeared in the middle of the night. He was keeping secrets but he felt a strong attraction to each other. After one morning of unplanned sex, Sierra agreed to meet him mornings after her children leave for school. She's determined never to be heartbroken over another man and stresses to Matt that it's for sex only and only mornings.
Surprisingly, he agrees to her conditions. What starts as sex evolves into them sharing things that happened in their lives. He finds out how her husband always cheated on her so she cheated in return to hurt him. She realizes that she only hurt herself. Sierra is having problems with her kids who blame her for the divorce. Matt is her release. He has problems of his own and finally shared why his family disappeared in the middle of the night and everything that's happened since then.
After sharing so many things, they decide to have a real relationship. Her kids love him as does her sister and Jax. Her Mom is still intolerable and wants her to get back with her husband despite the fact that he's married. She disparages him as she did Jax when Saona dated him. Sierra's ex husband is a deadbeat who uses their kids to cause problems between them.
There's so much that goes on in this blood that affect their relationship. Secrets are revealed, and Matt decides that he's not good enough her and leaves her for four months. After Matt goes through unimaginable tragedies, Sierra realized that she loves him.
Will Sierra and Matt get together in spite of her mother, her kids and the secrets he finally revealed to her? Can Sierra get over giving her heart to another only to have it broken? Does Matt realize that he's not responsible for all the tragedies that's happened to him? Does he realize that he deserves to be happy? Can they overcome everything that his against them?
This book is better than Some Nights and I'm glad that I read it.
This couple fit, they're perfect together. I love Matt's style, perfect alpha male, but not overly aggressive or domineering, he knows how to make Sierra soft but still be herself, that girl that gets hers. I didn't want their story to end. They have a beautiful family. The only thing I don't like about the author's writing style is that there's always a big breakup at the last minute when things seem to be going well between the couple, its so predictable and a little boring 😏
Extremely entertaining, captivating and interesting sexy read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong, intriguing characters. I want to read more from this author.

When I read the book description I immediately found myself interested in reading this book. I hadn’t heard about J.L. Lora before, but this book sounded really fun. So I was super excited when I received a review copy, and started reading as soon as possible.
In ‘Some mornings’ we meet Sierra Torres. Sierra’s life hasn’t been easy lately. She is recently divorced and her ex is giving her a hard time, and her kids seem to hate her. So when Matt walks into Sierra’s life she is apprehensive about starting something with him. Yes, she can use something good in her life to take her mind of things.. but she also just wants to focus on her kids. But soon Sierra finds out some thing are just meant to be.
Well, this book was kind of a rollercoaster for me. I enjoyed it, I really wanted to know what was going to happen.. but I also didn’t really like everything. I did enjoy Sierra and Matt’s characters. Sierra was this tough mom, who really did her best to make things better for her children. I really felt for her and her struggles. And I was really rooting for her and Matt from the very beginning. Matt was definitely a guy I loved reading about. Handsome, sweet, honest.. he was definitely charming.
What I didn’t like was the way things started with Sierra and Matt. To me it felt a little sudden! And I found them very crude to a point I just didn’t like. Dirty talk, okay but this was just a little too much for my taste.
But thankfully, J.K. Lora has this way of writing that made me want to keep on reading. And I just really liked the chemistry between Sierra and Matt which made this still a very entertaining read for me.

Some Morning by J.L. Lora is the second book in a stand alone series of books starting with Some Nights featuring Jax and Saona this book is for Matt and Sierra. They both were childhood friends together until both of Matt's brothers cause his family to flee to New Jersey. Until a Sierra's car is stolen and the officer that is sent is Matt.
Sierra not only got rid of her cheating husband and she's working as a accountant for her sister's boyfriend. Having her car stolen wasn't in the plan though when she sees Matt again who's now a cop they both wonder if there could be something more. But Matt has a lot of family responsibilities taking a huge portion of his life but it will a sassy Sierra and her kids Eddie and Emmi to show him that he can have his own family again. But don't think that Sierra's mother won't put her two cents in as well as the final conversation with her ex-husband will have you saying "Yay, Sierra! I hope Dahila Wicker (Matt's partner) and the handsome doctor get their own book.
ONE FABULOUS ADVENTURE!!! Spicy delight! Lora nailed this bad boy perfectly and kept me riveted on a razors edge from start to finish. Speculation, drama, tension, intrigue and suspense set the tone for this nail-biting block buster. Throw in distress, intrigue and turmoil and you have the recipe for disaster. A spinning, twisting vortex of inadvertent events and surprising mishaps catapults your swirling emotions into play fluidly. Leaping through hoops, hurdling the trials and tribulations along with a bounty of plot twists that fuse this bad boy together piece by jagged piece. The characters chemistry sizzles from the pages and suck you in so deeply until you feel the heat and electricity thrumming through your veins. The characters personalities are authentic, genuine and realistic with depth and qualities that are well blended and balanced. With 100% on point realism along with amazing scenarios that are so colorfully described its like you're living it with them instead of on the sidelines. Fabulous job Lora, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.
I had not read anything by this author, but really enjoyed this story and will definitely check out her other books. Sierra Torres divorced her cheating husband and is raising their young children, Emmi and Eddie, on her own. Her ex has remarried with a child on the way and seems to have forgotten about his other children. When her car is stolen, Officer Matthew Hunter, a former childhood friend arrives to take the report. He is immediately interested in reconnecting with Sierra and soon proves that he is good for her and the children. They see each other in the mornings when the children are in school, but that doesn’t stop her disagreeable mother from objecting to his presence. Matt has his own family issues. Should he stay away from Sierra for her sake and the children? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
Sierra is a divorced single mom who moved to Baltimore to have a better life for the kids and herself. An incident at work brings the cop and with that an old friend from the neighborhood, Matt. Matt is no longer the hoodlum that she knew. He is a police officer. Both are dealing with family issues and a past that won't stay that way. They decide to have a morning arrangement but soon feelings start up but can they work through their past for a future together.
A wonderful blend of suspense, romance, and reality. The story line shows the reality of being a divorced single mother juggling all aspects of life and of putting her interest and wants on hold for the sake of the children.

This is my 1st read and review for this author and what a fantastic story I enjoyed it immensely. Sierra has finally divorced her cheating husband who’s gone and remarried and he’s forgotten all about his two kids so Sierra does everything she can to be a good mother. One day Sierra’s car is stolen and the cop that is sent to her is her childhood friend Matt and the attraction is there for the both of them and they start meeting in the mornings but Matt has his own family problems so can Matt have his own family with Sierra and the kids or will Sierra’s mother interfere too much?. Fantastic story and I highly recommend this book.
A great read from a new author to me. I loved how Sierra and Matt were not perfect characters. They had human foibles and vulnerabilities which made them more real. And when they get together, prepare for steam. There were some interesting ethnic references that I have not encountered before but thoroughly enjoyed. And here I thought Asian mothers were the masters of manipulation! Sierra’s mom was almost villainous. I’m hoping Matt’s police partner gets a story next! I received a free copy from Netgalley. This is my unbiased review.
Childhood friends Matt and Sierra have not seen each other for years but when her car gets stolen Matt is the policeman who answers the call to investigate. Loved these real characters who are caring around so much baggage but getting to know each other again is just what they both needed. Really great story!

This was my first J.L. Lora's book, and won't be my last. I loved it! This is a great single mom story, and second chance at love. Matt and Sierra's story is beautifully written. They are both strong and supportive, and they share a sizzling chemistry. Sierra's children are so cute! The ending is beautiful. I enjoyed reading it. Jax and Saona are fantastic secondary characters. I can't wait to read their story in Some Nights, the first book in this amazing series.
I read this book pretty quickly. Sierra has ran into Matt her long lost friend from high school. Boy does he get a blast from the past. Matt has baggage and doesn't want to bring Sierra down. She is a strong Latina woman and takes no prisoners when it comes to her kids. She is a force to be reckoned with and had ups and downs. Not a bad read!
I received this ARC from the publisher at my request. The opinions written are solely my own. Thank you Net Galley!
Wow. Matt and Sierra have a lot to work through. The characters are full bodied and well developed. Their twisty, turny drama ridden scenes are worth the read. There is really a lot going on in this story and it keeps you turning the pages. The kids are good secondary characters and nosy momma is too. There is a very good underlying story and it was interesting to read.

This book provided chemistry, romance and lots of heat. The two characters are brought together again by a crime but that isn't the reason they choose to stay. This book is definitely worth the read.

I’m absolutely addicted to this. The way everything is put together is both satisfying and frustrating. The characters have so many facets it elevates their story to another level.

Captivating, suspense drama-filled romance story. The characters are intriguing. The well-written book kept my attention throughout, enjoyed reading. I have voluntarily chosen to read and review this book.
The twists in this tale just adds spice to an already exciting and adventurous tale that will shock you. I highly recommend this tale and eagerly await the next book in this series.
