Horatio Entwhistle was five years old when he blew up his bedroom for the first time-and nine when he did it yet again. So now, he does all his lab work in a shed out back, where he is currently focused on the less explosive but stickier task of discovering a solvent for his entirely too-successful Stupendous Glue. But Horatio's experimenting is suddenly interrupted when two sinister men snatch his geneticist parents. He soon realizes that the kidnappers will stop at nothing to gain his parents' anti-aging research-and he must act quickly. With the help of Ming Yi, female lock-picker extraordinaire, and Wheels, ingenious inventor whose turbocharged wheelchair can fly, Horatio sets out to find and rescue his parents. Can the three young friends foil the abductors' devious plot before it's too late?
I am a passionate reader and writer. My earliest memory is of my mother telling me to 'put that book down' because I never seemed to be without a book in my hand. My work has been in education, particularly in leadership, school improvement, strategic planning and research and, although this too has been a passion, I am getting ready to devote all my time to children's writing.
I believe that books open the door to an incredible world of imagination where you can learn important life lessons about resilience, bravery, and the sheer joy of having good friends. As an author I aim to create exciting adventure stories for young readers that will help them discover a lifelong joy of reading.
When I am not reading, writing, and working I love to travel, particularly to the US where my younger son lives, and to Europe to walk in the steps of my favourite writers.
