I loved that we essentially got an epilogue with 'Sweetest' that was included in this novella.

A sweet little treat...
Eve Dangerfield has this amazing ability to write about stuff I don't normally enjoy and make me love it. Sweeter is the perfect example. The story was captivating, the characters were quirky and original and the connection between the hero and heroine was electric. While I absolutely loved this short story, I shuddered and shaked in uncomfortableness when *Daddy* comes out to play. Even weirder, I found it bloody HOT!
That my friends is why I kept coming back for more from this author.
I was sad to read that Ms Dangerfield is taking a break from writing romance. I don't blame or begrudge her to be honest. This industry can suck monkey balls at times. Her original and quirky style will be missed. I'm not sure I trust any other author to take me out of my comfort zone.
I definitely recommend giving Sweeter a try and as a bonus, you get Sweetest too.

Eve Dangerfield is one of the few authors that I will read without actually going into research mode. I don't look up other reviews, I don't comb the blurb with a fine toothcomb just in case there's something I don't like in it, I just dive in. I know I will love it regardless.
I really wish this book was longer! I knew it was a short novella but it left me wanting more. And as there were some bonus chapters of Act Your Age at the end, I'm now re-reading that book. As for this one , I really loved the premise and plot. And once again ED goes against the typical and produces a sweet love story. Usually Daddy books feature older guys as Daddies. This one has a tech bro for one and you know what, I loved him. Never thought the day would come that I'd like a bro in any shape or form! "What a day to be alive."
Short and sweet and a perfect pick me up for a dull day.

He's warm in that way some people are. Like they carry sunshine inside their skin. He bends, his mouth near enough for a secret. "You seem like you do whatever you want, but you always slip through things and come out perfect on the other side."
I've been wanting to read a book by this author (who is no longer writing romances for publication for various reasons) for quite some time, especially as a number of my GR peeps have given high ratings to her work. I decided to start with this novella to finally see what I thought.
Will lowers his mouth to my ear. "I think you're f*cking fascinating."
All at once, I know why I can't kiss him. What he's saying strikes a familiar chord and that chord is 'fix me, manic pixie dream girl. Make life worth living with your artsy vagina.' They played it once a week in Portland. It was my version of Wonderwall. Only, I could shake off the bearded mama's boys. Will is something else.
The connection between Marley Ellis and William (Will) Faulkner (yeah, yeah, he knows...) plays out in an enjoyable fashion. It was fun to witness their dynamics and chemistry as a bond quickly forms between them.
"I can't fix you," I say. "Whatever you've lost, you won't find it in bed with me."
Will raises an eyebrow. "Bed? Who said anything about bed. I'm saving myself for marriage, thanks."
I laugh. Will laughs too.
I liked these two, how their romance evolved, and the way this was written.
That being said, if you're not into

2) This novella, according to my Kindle, is 52 pages long, but the whole ebook is 112 pages. Yup, there is a second novella included about these characters called "Sweetest". I haven't read it yet, but you know I will...

Will is the unfortunate friend that has to break it to the group of ladies and even though Marley is one of them she feels bad for Will. They end up having a connection that turns into something more.

Honestly, pretty meh.
The book consists of two very short novellas put together. I only got through the first one (about 15k words) before giving up. Basically, the formula is:
- Meet-cute (admittedly it's one I haven't seen before)
- Insta-love
- Manufactured wedge in relationship solved within two pages
- Conclusion
Okay if that's your thing, but I like a bit more than bland characterisation and stilted dialogue.

I listened to this audiobook on the Read Me Romance podcast and because this was my first book by Eve Dangerfield, I didn't really know what to expect. This is about Marley, a struggling artist who gets catfished when trying to meet a guy to be her sugar daddy. She meets Will, a "tech bro" and the friend of the guy who catfished her, and this is their romance.
For the majority of this book I was feeling kind of meh about this and not that invested in the storyline, but once they actually got together, I really started to feel their connection a lot more. This was pretty steamy and had mentions of a particular kink, which isn't really my thing, but it wasn't such a prominent part of the story that it bothered me. The thing I liked so much about the latter parts of the book was how weirdly sweet it was. I usually rate audiobooks a little lower because I typically struggle to feel the chemistry between characters unless I'm reading it, but the author did such a great job of writing the connection between Marley and Will, and I'd totally fallen for them as a couple by the end of the book!

The laughter lump rises with the force of a nuclear warhead. I hold it in my mouth for a second, then eject it in a hysterical half-scream. I can’t help it, I’m cold and tired and hungry and poor and I got catfished and the person telling me I got catfished is William Faulkner.
“What’s wrong with you?” Glamazon yelps, but William Faulkner knows why I’m laughing.
He turns to look at me. “My mom didn’t know who William Faulkner was, okay?”

Will flashes me a smile I’m starting to think of as ‘vintage Abercrombie panty-destroyer.’ VAPD for short.

Steamy & cute; I adore Eve Dangerfield and will basically read anything and everything she writes, so I enjoyed this novella that, although short, still had all of my favorite elements of an Eve Dangerfield story.

This might have been the most cringeworthy novella I've ever read. We have starving artist, Marley, who's looking for ways to get money, including finding a sugar daddy. Then we meet Will, the hot techy, rich guy who unknowingly (courtesy of a crappy friend) catfished a bunch of girls who thought he was a sugar daddy, including our Marley. Of course, Marley and Will hit it off instantly and Marley says that she doesn't want to have sex because she wants to bring the love of life back into Will. However, they immediately have sex and that goes out the window. Short story, short - Will and Marley get over their dumb obstacles and stay together.
I didn't like this because any type of deeper plot we were starting, never got finished. I loved that Marley didn't want to immediately have sex because she didn't want to fall into a situation where she was going to fix Will and it was going to fizzle out after that. Then, we get into a SUPER CRINGE daddy/princess roleplay that just made me shrivel up like a freaking raisin. It just wasn't done well. Marley ended up being super unlikable, in my opinion, and I just couldn't get on board with anything that was being said/done. If you want a good laugh, look at my highlights for this novella on Goodreads under Jessica Baron.
My recommendation is don't even waste the 40 minutes it took me to read this. Not worth it. And I think that says a lot.

When the roommate of the catfish shows up and lets the girls down, he ends up buying their drinks all night and Marley hits it off with him.
They meet the next day but she kicks him out when she learns he did something she wasn't wanting him to do. Can she win him back?

It was ok but I didn't really like that he sent the money and the next day she says not to give her money before they have sex and he agrees and doesn't mention he already has. its kinda the whole plot and I just hated it.

Noy my cup of tea. I don't get the "tech bro" vibes everyone is talking about, I'm in the industry and honestly, "tech bros" are really nice and humble from my experience, maybe they're just different in the States idk.
But the thing I really hated the most was how even though the MC is broke af (we're literally starting the book with her wanting to become a sugar baby because she can't afford to live ffs), she acts like she is too good for the love interest's money when he tries to help her out (after she complained about not having money). Like bitch, I'll take the money, give it to me. I just hate this type of characters, sorry 🤷♀️

It was funny. I'd give it that. But idk what else this shit was. It was less than 100 pages. Zero smut, zero plot, total insta-love. Nothing else. Not even smut. And it ended out of the blue. Did I mention there was no bug smut? Granted there was a different story called "sweetest" I side it, but after reading the namesake of the book "sweeter" I wasn't at all interested. This is what I get for wanting to read a random smut after a month of no reading 🥲

Didn’t really enjoy it. They’re relationship felt kind awkward to me. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ I mean who gets mad when somebody donates half a million dollars to them! 😵💫😵💫 I get that the heroine didn’t want to be dependent on the Hero but they didn’t set boundaries until after! 😡😡 And then she gets mad at him for bring a celebrity to her art show that was terrible in the first place! 🤨🤨

Have I mentioned recently how much I adore Eve Dangerfield?!
Of course this had top tier spice, but it also is incredibly smart, insightful, and funny! I love any indictment on Silicon Valley culture, the difficulties of creative infrastructure, and a solid exploration of mental health in such a short work!
