Itzel is finally gaining a backbone when it comes to her sister and is owning her own life.
“ I wanted more now. I wanted my own life, and I wanted a say. If she wouldn’t let me have it, maybe I didn’t belong on her tour, either”

Itzel has been on a tour to help her sister get the breeding amulets from different shifter species.
Although, Camila her older shifter sister is supposed to, Itzel, a human, and been doing all the work, sacrificing nearly everything to keep her ungrateful sister safe.

“The dream I had of been an advisor looked more unreachable every day. In truth, I wasn’t even sure I wanted it unless I can make major changes, reach out to the other nations and help them in a way that the isolationist ocelots never had.”

Through all that traveling, Itzel has unintentionally captured the interest of multiple shifters. A mere human catching the interest of multiple powerful shifters.

“ I wasn’t alone. Just as I had given up everything for Camilas bid for the throne, these four men had given up everything for me.”
“That’s when I knew the truth. It didn’t matter whether or not they were my mates. Each of these beautiful, terrible men was mine”.

This is creeping up to an RH.
Definitely Spicy as hell!
I’m very much invested in this series.
I hope Itzel can dethrone her father and sister and take their place with her men.

The crown of the dish rag of the year goes to the character portrayal of Itzel, the heroine of this book.

Her sister openly treated her in book 1 and now the sequel like a sore left to fester beneath her dirty feet × 1000000 in front of the entire world and she ate it all up with nary a whimper. The heroine was without a spine and was flinging herself off the highest cliff repeatedly in order to secure the crown to the kingdom for her unstable and demonstratively ungrateful sibling.

The only thing the heroine excelled more at than being treated as a punching bag by her sister was as a blow up doll to the various men in her growing harem.

Some lovely quotes from Dear sister Camilla and these are just the tip of a nasty iceberg.

Marking Her Mates continues with Itzel's journey of getting amulets for her ungrateful bitch of a sister while she insults Itzel left, right and centre.

I found this book to be just erotica scenes than an actual story. The first book still had enough as a story and wasn't just all about one sex scene after another. If you are looking for that then sure you will like this book since it's providing plenty of humping.

As for the new addition to Itzel's harem? I feel like with each guy introduced, their characters get more paper thin. I mean the lion dude? I thought Shadow was abrupt development in the last book but Khwame takes the cake (for now). I don't know what's the deal with Shadow, his character is just too stiff. There isn't much content shown to get that sense of chemistry between him and Itzel despite the progress the book is trying to instigate.

Sir Kenosi was not an endearing character, I mean the chick is barely out of surgery and this dude is leering at her as repayment for his hospitality. So how do you develop a character such as Sir Kenosi to bring him from this crude asshole to somewhat decent guy? You don't, you just push him in the back after his brief background story as if that justifies his behaviour and move on with the story hoping that you forget how it makes no sense for her to feel anything but anger for all of the stuff he put her through.

Even if you ignore assholes as love interest, I can't ignore the doormat character of Itzel. Why is she still so obsessively protective of her sister when Camila straight up tells her what she thinks of Itzel at every turn? I just can't be anything but pissed off at how she does shit for her sister that ranges from humiliating, traumatising and what not for those amulets only to hear shit from Camila, can you make her look any more stupid? I don't know when we will finally see the right reaction from Itzel.

My god, her sister gets worse. I didn't think that was possible. The way Camilla treats her like trash... and treats other people like trash. She's more like her father and her father needs to be put down!

And the way the book ends! I'm assuming they are going to use another amulet to save her.

Wow, such a good series!

really good, but I feel like the whole lion shifter thing wasn't explained well enough. Still immediately reading the next one though lol.
Pay attention to trigger warnings and stuff, this series isn't soft and fluffy whatsoever.

4.5 rounded up

The picture is starting to come together and the foreshadowing is hinting at the future of this incredible princess. It’ll be interesting to see what happens in the Tiger Realm.

Pros:
- Very Inventive world building. Paranormal with a touch of dystopian.
- Loving Itzel.
- Bit dark, deliciously so.

Cons:
- Camilla..... oh that woman! I hate that there was a POV devoted to her (just one). Maybe she’ll grow up, but right now she is a spoiled rotten shifter no better than her father.
- Some things are questionable.

*Spoiler Alert*
Itzel (MFC) is still on her quest for all the amulets her sister Camila needs in Book 2. After escaping with Shadow and the rest of the entourage - Gabor & Lord Balam they stumble into Cheetah Kingdom. A Kingdom ran by a puppet king with a billionaire - Sir Kenosi pulling the strings. An obnoxious. egotistical, self-important man who likes to play games to manipulate people and he has his mind set on Itzel. Much to her annoyance. As well as a Lion Prince - Kwame who even though hes dead is still claiming to be her mate. Itzel's life is getting complicated. Book 2 in this series uncovers some secrets, tested loyalties, love & trust and other things are brought to light. Some with shocking results. I had some ideas about what a few of the secrets were but even so i was still floored by them. Especially by that taste of the next book. Jaw-Dropping!!! A fantastic series and im flaming enjoying every minute of reading it

A reread.

Gosh I really hate Camila. Itzel mildly annoyed me at times in this one but I still like her. I just want to shake her and tell her that her sister is not that into her.

Lord Balam is still a book boyfriend. I really enjoyed Sir Kenosi in this one the second time around readung it. He could have been another Lord Balam but he has enough differences to be a distinct character on his own.

Prince Kwame was a good edition to the group. Shadow is cool too.

That cliffhanger though! Really makes you wonder how the heck Itzel will get out of that predicament.

I absolutely love this series. I love everything this author writes, but I think this series is my favorite. I really love the main character and all the guys. I wish her sister would just have a really bad accident already. But, I love the rest! This one was also nice and spicy!! It was perfect. Hope the next one is out quickly. I can’t wait to see what happens next for them.

Can I just say... WOW... I wasn't expecting that! Just when I thought Book 1 surprised me, in comes Book 2 with even more drama, taboo, and surprise. This book picks right up where Book 1 left off. If you as reader have triggers, this book may not be for you as there is some serious dub-con and non-con going on in this book as well. I give the author props about announcing the triggers in this book [as well as the previous book] because she does a thorough job of letting the readers know what to expect and to not read if it's too much for them.

As for the Book rating, I give this 4.5 stars, round down to 4 stars! This book keep my interest and was definitely a page turner. It was fast pace, an easy read with lots of drama and I was exited to see where this book was going. I mean I finished the book in less than a day so there's that! I was really intrigued by this world and how the author wrote a shifter book unlike any I have read before. So, why the .5/1 star deduction? The main character, Itzel, began to irritate me when dealing with her sister. I mean your sister is openly treating you like garbage and still you are putting your life, body, and happiness on the line for her. I understood it originally, but now it's getting old and played out. I just don't feel someone would allow another person to openly treat them like that for years on end and not wake up and say screw this and leave. But I must say that cliffhanger was just... WOW... I'm so intrigued on what happened that I have to know what's going to happen next. This cliffhanger was way better than the one from Book 1. HAHAHA! As I previously stated in Book 1 review, I will be finishing this series as I'm so curious as to where this story is going.

As to the narration, although this is a duel narration, the main narrator of this book is Bridget Bordeaux who, as always, does a fabulous job. I love listening to books read by her and have many of them. The male narrator, Jake Bordeaux, also does a fabulous job [I believe they are a couple and most books read with Bridget are also dually read with Jake]. Anyways, they did amazing and they deserve all 5 Stars I gave them [which is nothing unusually as they always get that ranking from me].

I thought that this was a fantastic read! I loved getting to see our characters interacting with each other more and meeting more mates for Itzel. Itzel is definitely in a hard position throughout most of this installment. She is separated from her group and her sister is treating her like crap. Itzel is determined though and keeps pushing through. This story does have darker elements and has some dubious consent throughout. I liked that there was a bit of a stopping point/alternate ending if this is pushing boundaries too much for the reader, they can stop right towards the end and be done as their was a warning that boundaries are about to be pushed even further and story to get darker. If you decide to continue you get another bit that starts you on the journey for the next amulet and a big cliffhanger. I can’t wait for the next installment.
I listened to the audiobook and it was sooo well done. Their are 3 narrators this time around and they do such a fantastic job with all the different voices and accents that are in the story. It really brought the story to life and I can’t wait to listen to the next book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I actually listened to the audio version of this book but that was not an option when I wrote this review.

Itzel's story continues and she first ends up in a hospital in the Cheetah nation. The rest of her entrouge has problems of their own, but she is kept a captive by the local hero. Sir Kenosi may hold the esteem of the other women in the Cheetah nation, but Itzel isn't liking him at all. He wants her to bow down to him and his sexual demands, but what does he need her for when he has his own harem? When she is finally freed, Itzel rushes to her sister's side, only to find herself rejected and insulted by the one person she has always counted on to have her back. It seems that no matter what Itzel does to protect Camilia and to obtain the amulets for her, she will never be anything but a pawn in her sister's royal chess game. Things only get worse when they travel to Lion country and Itzel finds herself taken off to the spirit world by the Lion prince. What she learns there will change her forever. I was given a copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

Book 2 in James' Feline Royals series. Told in a multi pov and well written with a smooth flowing storyline - I was captivated and am eager for more in this series. The narration was very well done, smooth and easy to listen to and follow along.
The amulet tour continues for princesses Camila and Itzel we journey with them to the cheetah and lion nation in this read. Oh how I want Itzel to woman up and stop the abuse her sister dishes out on a regular basis. Just when you think she might - she's back to fledging her loyalty. Ugh. But honestly, I can't get enough. I want more, I'm hooked on this storyline and Princess Itzel and how many more nations need to be visited and what will those nations pose as challenges. The epilogue in this listen teases with a huge cliffhanger - so if you want to stop - stop before the epilogue 'casue there is no turning back from that! and your given fair warning too!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Holy hell! what a ride!!!

Alexa B. James has done it again with Captive Princess, the second story in the Feline Royals series! If you thought the first one was hot, steamy, intriguing and intense you have t seen anything yet!

This book picks right up where the first left us with Itza and her crew (and sadly her sister too lol) still on a quest to retrieve the amulets—this time heading to cheetah territory. What she encounters there is the ultimate domineering alpha of a man that wants nothing more than to dominate and rule. When secrets are revealed, debts fulfilled and the amulet bargained for the group finds one more shocking revelation regarding true mates that will change everything. That is until they reach the lion kingdom for even more intriguing revelations!!! And seriously…if you didn’t already dislike the sister, be prepared to do so in this one! And that ending?!? Eek!!! I need the next one stat!!! This series is a definite must read so just go ahead and grab them all now and save yourself the trouble later on lol

Great Series!

WOW! Book two in this series is even better than book one. The story continues on exactly where the author left off in book 1, but there is so much more to this story. It is a wild roller coaster ride of suspense, intrigue and a whole lot of sex! Itzel continues to be this strong and fierce woman but her only downfall is that she loves her men and her evil sister too much. I literally seethed with anger every time that Itzel had to interact with her sister Camila. There is seriously something wrong with Camila - we need more information or maybe a backstory on her. Even though her sister is evil, Itzel continues to do what is right to make her sister the Queen. Some of the situations she gets herself into are intense and thrilling. By the way, the epilogue ending - don't read it if you can't handle massive cliffhangers - It was awesome.

This story is fantastic and I can't wait to read the next one.

The tour to collect the shifter nation amulets continues in this book at the Cheetah and Lion nations. It is a fast-paced story that may have triggers for some readers. There is lots of drama, boundaries are pushed, consent is somewhat dubious in parts and the steaminess is off the charts. Itzel collect lovers as well as amulets, definitely puts up with too much from her sister and faces some unusual challenges in this book. The story definitely keeps your attention and I liked that there is a warning in the book about its content before things really heat up. The triple narrators of the audiobook did an excellent job of bringing the characters to life and their voices flowed well together. I’m looking forward to seeing what will happen in the next book and where the overall story is leading.

Book 2 of 4 - Itzel is a young, carefree, naive girl, who dotes on those around her. When she is told to accompany her sister, who is collecting the stones needed from the other shifter nations before her coronation, she ends up doing nearly everything herself. Just handing her work to her sister.

The sister drove me nuts - selfish, whiny, entitled. A proper vilain lol.

The heat is fab, the complex mix of the shifters along the way, shows unique and wonderful world building alongside such wonderful differences in skills, magic and personality of all those involved that eventually become Itzel's family.

An absolutely amazing series, once again from Alexa B James! Bought on Kindle and Audible - the narrators are frigging awesome! 30 hours if you buy the complete series for just one fee or credit, it is so good!

So, not only is this a rip off of Kendra Moreno's Blooming Courts series, but it's also frustratingly tragic. I'm no stranger to dark romance but this crosses the line of all moral compasses. I could barely handle the straight up beastiality in the last book but this isn't you're typical CNC, or bondage type of thing, this is full on rape...until magically the MC enjoys it, after there's been force. The way she's treated and how she accepts it is just so infuriating. I don't think this justifies their actions, but if this book is enemies to lovers say it's enemies to lovers, if it's a bully romance, say it's a bully romance to make sure you have the right audience.

What a whirlwind..

My heart just breaks for Itzel and all the carp that she has to do for her spoiled sister to be queen on the throne, it should be her I stead of her sister on that throne and don't forget her hot mates.. This is one rollercoaster of a read that will have begging for more, with its laughs and tears, and cheering for Itzel, this is one book that will have you on non stop reading for most of the day. The most awesome series you could start reading , so what are you waiting on... Get this book and start reading it... This book was reviewed by a Book Loving Vixen.

More please!!!

Another good book added to the series! There were aspects that could be improved upon, such as the short length of time spent in the Lion kingdom and getting to know Kwame or humanizing the cheetah a bit better. One short story after everything didn’t really do it. I like all of the guys so far but.... I only FEEL connection with the oracle one and the Ocelot guard. And Camila has really shown her true colors in this one!!! Whew. But the whole “who done it” in the mom murder mystery was kind of a duh. Saw that one coming.

Anyways, excited to read the next installment!!! (=

Still confused on a lot of the plot

There were a couple things I didn't like with consent... most of the time when reading about NC or dubcon you get to understand a bit about what's going through characters minds, this was just big no for me how those scenes played out. The forced nature of it, especially where she didn't find enjoyment out of it and then like magic everything clicked and voila! Everything is peachy. Sigh.

Then, the amulets and all the contradictions just get on my nerves. It's like things were just popped into the story to help it make sense. It wasn't organic, and it definitely adds confusion to it all (with heavy doses of frustration).

Wow

Oh my this book is just full of surprises! Itzetl (sorry if I spelled that wrong) is trying to keep her horrid sister safe during het amulet tour to take the throne. Camilla is just awful a and so would have failed by now but Itzy has been able to save the day. The cheetah kingdom is pretty much led by Sir Kenosi who puts het in a very awkward situation though she still manages to come put on top just in time to go to the lion kingdom where yet another surprise awaits. This leads to one doozy of a cliff hanger that will have you chomping at the bit to read book three. A total must read if you enjoy paranormal RH. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.

Well I certainly wasn't expecting that!

Ok. So I gave a mixed review for book one. Book two has just as many, if not more, unique twists and strange storylines but they seem to work. Forbidden love, mixed desire, fate or hormones, sex or passion, lots of drama....... all things that make this book better than the last. There is some predictability with one of the subplots but it doesn't really detract from anything because there are plenty of other things going on that keep the book flowing. So if you've made it through book one, stick around for book two. It is better. I'm hoping book three keeps the upward trend!

I love the plot and pacing, but I just can't get down with the harem so far. The author hasn't done much to make them physically attractive to me. Like, seriously, the descriptions of them just don't do it for me. The latest addition, Prince Kwame, is gapped-toothed with scars on his face. I mean, this is supposed to be fantasy, right? Well give me something to fantasize about! I'm invested now so I'm going to read the next book, but I'm not super excited about the smut like I normally would be. And don't get me started on how much I hate Princess Camila. She needs to just drop dead and soon. Rating 3.75

What a a dark, addictive, heart wrenching, emotional roller coaster to continue this series! Jam packed with action, plot twists, and undeniable chemistry!
I love how naive Itzel is in regards to shifter politics and history, it definitely helps the reader identify with her and feel you’re at the same place knowledge wise with their culture.
Each new character that is added this book is so completely different yet draws you in just as much!
The ending definitely leaves you hanging for the next book!

This is book 2 in the series and it gets even more intriguing.

In this book we get to see Itzel start to come into her own more and figure out even though she is a human in a world of shifters she is not powerless. Ugh her sister, I just cant with her. I hate that Itzel just doesn't try to knock some sense into her and just leave her to do her own thing, but I think we all understand the complexity of family.

I really started to like Shadow in this book. After the last book I think he has some redeeming to do. And with Gabor, breaks your heart.

Another great book in the series

I have not read book 1 in this series, so I was a little lost at first. I was given this Audible version to review from Story Origin. The narrators were excellent. Made it a little bit easier to keep the strange named characters straight! I still struggled some.
Paranormal is not my favorite, but I have to say this was quite entertaining. Very action packed. Ridiculously steamy. Crazy shifting. Where the rules of conduct kept changing. Whacky characters. A very strong heroine. Questionable men. A spoiled sister. An interesting plot. A wicked cliffhanger.

There was some slow parts in this book that we didn't find in book #1 hence 1 less star. I wish the Cheetahs and Lion's would have been more like the Jag's. Also I felt 0 connection so far to the Lion... did I miss something? I don't care about him. So there is that.
There is some interesting sex in this book but nothing crazy... I am still missing the taboo but I assume it will come with Book #3

I can not stand the ocelot queen to be. She’s a brat and clearly to high up on her horse to actually see what her sister has been giving up to help her on her tour, what she’s sacrificed for her. She needs to go asap!
The not knowing part of the book is infuriating, but clearly I get why it’s done to keep you interested in the book and to continue reading.
Many triggers in this one as well. Reader beware.
