Single in Sitka

Rate this book
A single Dad. A personal ad. What could possibly go wrong?

When Seattle journalist, Amanda McKendrick, pitches a new story about the increase of bear attacks in Sitka, her newspaper sends her north for two weeks. While there, she answers the personal ad of single dad, Luke Kingston, looking for a little no-strings-attached fun to pass the time.

But the sweet, widowered father of three--who just happens to be a smokin' hot state trooper--turns out to be a lot more than Amanda bargained for. As the days go by, she wonders if it'll be possible to return to Seattle without leaving her heart behind.

* * * * 1/2 Spoiler Free-LOVED THIS SERIES
Today's lives are so different from generations ago. We are able to travel, work, and experience so much away from where we were born and raised. It gives us the ability to see what we like and what we don't and these personal experiences guide us to where we end up living.

Now where we live also impacts who we meet and love. We can only interact with those around us...well, that was the way, but now with traveling at the drop of a hat and the internet dating sites, location means nothing. These factors are part of the driving force of Single in Sitka by Katy Regnery.

Amanda and her writing partner are due to present the subject for their next column for the Seattle Sentinal. Amanda should have had it all figured out but instead, she has been dreaming about a posting by a faceless man called Luke.
It was in a rag called Odds Are Good that has the idea of Alaskan single men looking for women who are part of the lower 48. It is known to use hunky mountain men pictures to lure women to come to the far-away state.

This particular ad has caused Amanda to fantasize about this widower with three kids who doesn't want to play games and sounds so good. Sigh... Now she has to come up with a pitch...and remembers there is also a bear issue in the same city where mythical Luke lives, Sitka. The next thing Amanda knows, she is on a plane off to investigate the bears and maybe find this Luke.

Luke has been handling what life took away from him. He had a beautiful wife, adorable kids and a path he was comfortable with. In a flash of a moment, his wife was taken in a horrible car accident. He had to hold it together for the three little kids he had and over time these children and father became a team. Luke was lucky to have his sister to help him and now as the children are older, they have tried not to ask for too much help, only when necessary.

But Luke's sister cares dearly for her brother and wants him to get out there and start to live again... to be more than a father and a state trooper. He needs to be the man who loves another for himself and for his kid. Luke has told her no, no fix-ups please and so far he has held her off.

Amanda has already dug into her bear project and is trying to get back to where she is staying. Unfortunately, she is walking in the rain and it is not the romantic thing movies make it out to be...

Bloody Blisters...
Hard Drenching Rain...
And serious tears finally coming from a breakup she thought she was over...The surprise and frustration of years gone by wasted...those were the tears that hurt the most...

Luke doing his job, sees a woman walking on the side of the road in the pouring rainstorm. He pulls over and with much coaxing gets her into the car.

She is suspicious like a city person would be...
He is shocked that he is seeing her as a woman...one he would be interested in knowing...
But the conversation takes a turn and ends sharply.

These two have a story to be told and it is so worth the time. Luke and his children are a wonder. Amanda is strong, sometimes a bit impulsive...but overall a very positive person, and the two together are a fine fit. There are smexy times to enjoy and the children are distinct and not a throw-away thought. Friends, family, and the towns and cities are all part of this tale.

I thoroughly enjoyed this and plowed right through it. This is the start of a series of individual stories. I can see the draw to all of them and each will be released about a month apart.

I adore Katy Regnery and her writing so I got cozy on the lounge with a cup of tea and dove into this story only to literally choke on my cup of tea when I burst into laughter 2 seconds later. At which point I tried to explain to hubby what garnered that reaction. (he still doesn't get it but oh well it made my day because that was hot and damn yes that escalated quickly)

So as you no doubt guessed this started with a bang and I felt a great connection to Amanda and the story. And the further in I got the more I was dying to see how Amanda and Luke were going to sort out their issues and start a life together.

Their problems were such normal, every day issues that are faced by mature people. And I liked that the story was so incredibly realistic and relatable even though it's nothing I have ever been through. All of the characters felt so genuine.

I just felt Amanda maybe planned things a little rashly without any input from Luke who really had a lot more to consider. And the ending felt a little rushed. But I guess we got our hea and everyone was happy, so I should probably get over it.

I loved the epilogue and I was happy with how it played out. I just would have preferred to take the more scenic route. Oh well the blurbs for the rest of the series sound great so I will be on GoodReads stalking them if you need me.

ARC received for an honest review

I have only read one other Katy Regnery book (I know, I know, you don't need to tell me), however when the opportunity came up to read Single In Sitka, I jumped at the chance.

What a lovely, warm and funny story about finding love again, long distance relationships and all they entail.

Luke and Amanda's journey is not always an easy one, however there is not silly misunderstanding, miscommunications or stupid fights getting in their way. They act like adults and sort things out like adults - such a refreshing thing when so many stories these days have drama for drama's sake.

There are plenty of sexy, steamy moments, however there are plenty of times with raw, gutwrenching emotion that will tug at your heartstrings.

Ms Regnery had me right in Sitka and in Seattle with her writing, such beautiful imagery that I could almost reach out and tough the Puget Sound - sigh.... I want to go back to Seattle so bad.

Single In Sitka is an utterly enjoyable story, and I am looking forward to more of the Odds Are Good series.

2.5 to 3 stars. It was OK. Started off alright, but I did do a bit of skimming later on. Widowed dad with 3 kids. I did finish it.

I have really liked some books by this author. This was one was on the lighter end of the spectrum. *shrugs* OK, but fairly forgettable.

LOVED this! Sweet romance from start to finish. Love the premise of the personal ads for Alaska. This is the first book of the series and it will have you begging to read more.

Luke and Amanda are not new to love. They both have some heartache to overcome. Both need to get 'back out there." Why not spend some no strings attached time together in Sitka? Well, because hearts get tangled pretty fast. These two are pretty steamy together and seem perfectly matched. Luke's children add an extra layer of interest for me. Love single dad stories. I liked how cautious he was with their hearts as well as how Amanda saw herself fitting into their lives. Liked all the secondary characters as well.

Great start to a new series. Next one is Nome-O seeks Juliet. Can't wait to read it!!

Wow. All I can say is wow. I love everything that Katy writes. She has this way of pulling you into a story and captivating you to that very last page.

This story started out as fun and flirty with insta chemistry and lots of sensual moments but turned into so much more of a story. It was real with raw emotion and love. It’s the best kind of romance; the one that pulls true emotion from you, pulling on the heartstrings and making you feel. I’m a sucker for emotional stories.

I absolutely loved everything about this book, from the detailed story to the characters. The sweet, adorable kids to the funny side characters made this a well rounded book. This was the perfect love story for this romantic heart and you will not want to miss this one.

Dating was the last thing on Luke's mind-yet his meddling sister, Bonnie, wanted to help Luke come out of his stupor so she gave him a little push in the direction that he never knew he needed 😉

Luke and Amanda's first interaction had me giggling because these two were alike yet different, if that makes sense. They both thought that they could do the "no strings attached" yet when the heart gets involved, everything goes out the window. Now Luke's kids not only were they cutie pies yet they played a very important role in Luke & Amanda's "love life"!!

This was such a sweet, low drama read that it broke through the book funk I was going through. Thank you Ms. Regnery for such beautiful stories you share with us ❤ Kara~ 4.5 Stars

4 1/2 "Single Dad 💙" Stars!

I really liked this one a lot. I love the single parent trope. Especially when the kids are really present in the story. Luke was a sweet sexy single dad. Amanda was a sweet smart sassy lady; and a good friend. Great kids. They had to negotiate some particulars. Find their way around a few obstacles to fully get to happy. This one made me smile. I admit, it was rather sappy. Happy reading!

Amazing Author

Another winner by Katy Regnery! This story had lots of love and friendship and a single dad with 3 kids. A 2 week working holiday (funny how that came about) and a set up with family and these 2 can’t get enough of each other. Long distance relationships are hard, but love will work it out. Liked it a lot.

When Amanda and her coworker pitch a new story to her newspaper, Amanda finds herself heading to Sitka, Alaska to research the “bear problem.” She has a lot of work to do before the column goes live so she knows she’ll be busy collecting data but she figures she has some time to answer a personal ad. He’s a single dad who is looking for some fun himself, and just what Amanda needs to get over her cheating ex. What could go wrong with a little no-strings-attached fun that has an end date? Find out in Single in Sitka!

Amanda answers Luke’s “Single in Sitka” ad and meets up with him in a local hotel bar. The attraction is immediate and their want is palpable. Amanda isn’t looking for anything serious and Luke is only trying to get out after losing his wife so they settle for causal fun during the time she is in town.

And fun they have! They fit so well together, and even though they have different experiences with relationships it feels like they are on the same page. I believed the chemistry, connection, and feels. I could see them growing closer and I knew that hearts would be involved. They are both good people who are genuinely nice and they couldn’t help but fall for each other.

Luke is such a great dad and cares what his children think. He isn’t ready to dive into anything serious and I totally understood his conflict when his feelings start to strengthen. Amanda was hurt and needs a rebound but she never imagined falling for a single father in Alaska. She’s enjoying their fun but she finds herself wanting more when she gets to know Luke better.
I kiss him like I would if he belonged to me and I belonged to him, and when he draws away, he looks into my eyes with such vulnerability, such naked sincerity, it almost makes me cry.

I loved Amanda and Luke together and I was rooting hard for a happily-ever-after. When Amanda heads back to Seattle at the end of her two week visit, it is heartbreaking. I wanted them to be together and I know they are what the other needs even if it’s hard to take a chance.

I was excited to see them reconnect and their reunion is sweet and sexy. I loved that they find ways to spend time together, and not just the two of them.  The kids are an important part to the story and I loved that Amanda loved them too.

The long distance takes a toll on them and they have a lot to work through if they want a future together. Even with the bumps along the way, in the end, Luke and Amanda know what they want and I love that they were willing to fight for their love.

Overall, Single in Sitka is a sweet, steamy, heartwarming romance. It’s a great start to the Odds-Are-Good series and I can’t wait to get back to Alaska for more love stories that stem from personal ads in The Odds Are Good magazine!

4 stars!

Sitka

4.25 stars

I really enjoy reading books set in places unfamiliar to me. That way if I ever visit, I can compare the author’s description to what I see. Sitka and Seattle are not two places that were in my plan, now I feel like booking an Alaskan cruise.

Luke is a widower raising his three children the best he can. Losing his wife in a tragic accident and having little family around has made him rely more heavily on his oldest. He worries if he is doing the right thing, who will help his girls when they need a woman’s guidance. Dating and love are not on his mind, he’s not ready.

Amanda is a reporter living in Seattle, writes a news column with her best friend about various topics. Reading through the wires looking for an angle for their next column she finds a story about bear attacks in Sitka. And the personal ads, specifically one from someone named Luke, making her long for a real relationship, where the guy doesn’t cheat and suddenly just leave.

She’s unprepared for a team planning meeting, still scrambling for a idea when she mentions the bear story. One thing leads to another and she finds herself bound for Sitka, and maybe a chance to meet Luke. This wasn’t a typical “will single dad find love again” tale. I really liked Luke & Amanda. They have a meet cute moment, and when they meet a second time the sparks really fly.

If it wasn’t for the inconsistencies in the timeline, and the description of Amanda changing suddenly in one part of the story I would have rated this book higher.

Sweet Long Distance Romance

This was a good solid romance. It was sweet and a little bit spicy and ticked a lot of trope boxes; single dad, a cheating ex, long-distance relationship, holiday romance, sassy girl reporter, law enforcement. However, when I was reading it the book didn’t feel like I was playing trope bingo, it’s just with hindsight whilst trying to describe the book I realised that was the case.

Luke is has been a widower for 2 years. He is raising three children with the aid of his sister, who has recently had twins and is therefore becoming less available. His parents are deceased and his deceased wife’s parents live hundreds of miles away. He hasn’t dated since the death of his wife and his sister decides to put an advert into a magazine to help him find a new woman.

Amanda has recently broken up with her cheating ex after five years. She lives in Seattle and has done so since college. She writes a column with the Seattle Times with her best friend and after mooning over Luke’s advert imagining what he looks like etc and called to task in a meeting for her distraction she spontaneously makes up a story about bears in Sitka (that she read about whilst researching where Luke came from) and ends up being sent there for 2 weeks to research it.

This book follows Luke and Amanda trying to work through going from a short term fling to a long distance relationship and trying to find the compromise that works. I really liked that Amanda’s relationship with the kids was a bit mixed, with the three children having very different reactions to their Dad being involved with someone. It wasn’t all smooth sailing and life gets in the way a few times and they have very real conflicting emotions about what to do moving forward.

It was an engaging story with nice characters and a feel good HEA.

Considering the amazing lineup of excellent books that Regnery has penned, Single In Sitka is one of my favorite series books of Katy's to date. This book contains it all; sizzling heat between a sexy, single dad and a work-driven journalist. Heart pounding, emotional moments ranging from tears to anxiety to deep swooning. Along with fabulous secondary characters that enrich the story. Single in Sitka is a book you don't want to miss in 2019!

Amanda finds an ad in the Odds Are Good online dating magazine describing Luke; a single guy in Alaska looking for love. She's never been to Alaska, but she is picturing a hunky man who can fulfill her nightly fantasies better than her cheating ex ever could. When she's pressed to fulfill a deadline for where she works, her writing partner throws out the idea of saving the bears in Alaska thus giving her the opportunity to find her hunky soulmate. Unable to turn down a writing assignment...Amanda suddenly finds herself in Alaska with the ability to look up Luke; Mr. Single and hopefully hunky, dreamy Luke. When in Alaska and all that.

Luckily Luke is actually who he says he is, BUT he didn't place the ad, his sister did. Nothing like a bit of awkward to start things off. You see, the reason Luke is single, his wife passed away two years ago and his sister feels it's time to get back on the proverbial horse. She's worried about him. While she takes his kids for the weekend, he meets Amanda and they do hit it off, but decide on a no-strings, just fun agreement. Perfect. She's only in town for two weeks as it is. Things are great until they both get attached and two weeks aren't nearly enough.

What do you do when the person you're falling for lives 800 miles away? How do people make these long distance relationships work? Should they just chalk it up as a fling and move on?

There are so many variables and moving parts when it comes to falling in love as a single father. Luke as an AH HA moment when he realized that when he fell in love with his wife it was just the two of them and he could devote all of his attention to just her. Now, even if he wanted to spend every waking hour with Amanda he couldn't. He had responsibilities, not that he would trade them for the world, he loved his kids, but this time around it was just different which meant he had to do things differently. I love these kind of intricate details that seem so minute, but add so much flavor

Single in Sitka is such a great story and even though it is a complete standalone I can't wait to return to Alaska and see what Katy has in store for us next.

I'll be the first to admit I am super picky these days so getting anything higher than a two star rating from me is rare. I also always considered Katy to be one of my fave authors as she was a few of the first authors books I loved when I dove feet first into romance booklandia. So it actually saddens me that I didn't like this more. Truthfully, I don't think I liked it at all.

I didn't particularly feel connected to either MCs but especially so with the heroine Amanda. I also didn't find the opening chapter with her and her friend Leigh coming up with their column pitch on the fly funny at all. It was awkward to me and I felt Amanda wasn't being irresponsible and a little selfish considering her bff Leigh was literally about to give birth and was relying on her.

It was weird how the story in Sitka came about but I shrugged and rolled with the flow. But honestly the pacing really threw me. Once we have the MCs meet it felt like everything was happening soooo fast in their relationship which was weird considering it was supposed to be just a fling.

I felt for Luke's situation and having lost his wife. His kids were still struggling too. So it was a little baffling to me that he so easily decides to sex up the heroine Amanda maybe an hour after officially meeting. Agrees to a fling and is floating in the clouds because their chemistry is as The Mask would say... SMOKIN' y'all.

It wasn't though. I didn't ever feel the chemistry or connection between the two. I didn't get it. And aside from when Luke kissed Amanda for the first time and had a sad moment thinking about how it was the first time kissing someone other than his late wife Wendy, he seemed quite at ease with moving on. Which, hey, that's fine. I just felt the way it was written didn't give it the sincerity it deserved I guess.

Especially because a few times in the book he talks about how he never had this chemistry he has with Amanda with his late wife and a few other remarks. Which sorta diminished her in my eyes. Sure every love is different but the way it was written and "said" came across a little wrong to me.

Anyway, I just wasn't a fan. The blurb sounded really interesting and I'm a sucker for hot single dad's. But it was just all so plain and blah to me. It's literally hard to remember some things and I just finished it. Oh well. Katy is still a lovely author and I loved her past series but maybe this one isn't for me or maybe it was just this book. Might check out book two one day soon.

Widowed Hero with 3 kids - State Trooper
Both H/h are in their 30’s

I really liked this one. Hero was sweet, kind and sexy. Great father. Only ever with his wife who was killed in a car accident. It’s been 2 years since her death and he hasn’t dated or been with another woman. His sister goes behind his back and puts an ad in the paper - Single in Sitka - to help him get out there and start dating again.

The heroine was in a relationship for 5 years and the bf cheated on her. She ends up going to Sitka (Alaska) to write a column about bear attacks. While there she answers the ad and meets Luke the hero. They end up agreeing to a 2 week no strings attached arrangement while she’s in town. It quickly turns into more as she meets his kids and his family.

My issues;
There were a lot of editing errors in this book and the author goes from describing the heroine as having red hair and later in the book with blond hair. It amazes me how that happens. Don’t you have an outline to reference? Who is editing your books? For this reason, I took off stars. Oh, also I just found out I’m not a fan of the word nectar when used in sex scenes.

...”bathing himself in my nectar”.

I actually cringed. Some people don’t like moist. I apparently don’t like nectar.

Other than that, this was an enjoyable single dad romance.

I absolutely adored this story!
A hot, single dad, along with his kids, stole my heart in this cute, super sexy, and sometimes emotional read.

Faced with many obstacles, Luke and Amanda are determined to figure out a way to make their long-distance relationship work.

Ms. Regnery did a fabulous job at showing me and making me feel everything while flipping the pages. I cannot wait for the other books in this series!

I don't like it when I see in a story that I'm reading the ENTIRE plot of a movie. In this case? 'The Holiday'.

In the movie, Amanda is from out of town, she's only going to be local for a week or two, she's just out of a long-term relationship with a guy who cheated on her, and she's ready for a 'fling'. She meets a devoted Daddy who's been widowed and has two daughters (and a cow), and they get it on whenever he can come around. She even comes over with a pie and wine and bonds with his kids. But she has to Leeeeeeave... but luvvvvvv... but there's long-distance... but that wouldn't work...

That was the movie. In this BOOK? Amanda is from out of town, she's only going to be local for a week or two, she's just out of a long-term relationship with a guy who cheated on her, and she's ready for a 'fling'. She meets a devoted Daddy who's been widowed and has two daughters (and a Chad), and they get it on whenever he can come around. She even comes over with a pie and wine and bonds with his kids. But she has to Leeeeeeave... but luvvvvvv... but there's long-distance... but that wouldn't work...

See what I mean? It's the SAME. EXACT. STORY. Well, she's a newspaper writer, not a film trailer writer, and he's a cop not a book editor, and it's Seattle/Sitka, not L.A./England, but... the uncannily identical *everything else* really killed this for me. They even start the whole 'it's so complicated' thing... I just couldn't even read this without seeing Cameron Diaz in inappropriate shoes, schlepping her miserable self down towards her temporary lodging on foot... because THE SAME THING happens, here. Only in rain, not snow. Which is pretty damn bass-ackwards, since it rarely rains in England and mostly snows in Alaska, but I digress.

Then the author (on pg 152) changes Amanda's hair color from dark red to blonde, and as if I wasn't having ENOUGH problems with Cameron Diaz... now I *KNOW* this is a total steal.

And just a stupid question: WHY would the editor of a Seattle paper think that bear attacks waaaaaaaay the heck up in freakin' SITKA was a relevant story to the people of Washington? Asking for a friend.

And another stupid question: WHY does it take an ENTIRE MONTH for her best friend to make Amanda the godmother of her child? This does *not* follow, btdubs.

Yet another stupid question: Can *anyone* take this line seriously: "My son broke his arm when he was three. I thought for sure his baseball days were over." ((snort!)) HomiGAWSH, his baseball days haven't even STARTED, hello!!!! Who WRITES this?!?!?!

Another thing that drives me crazy is when the author makes the ex detestable, down to the name. BRYCE, naturally. BRYCE doesn't like to be touched when he sleeps. BRYCE never held doors for her. Any way to make BRYCE look crappy, it's done. It's a cheat, in my book. What guy *doesn't ever* hold a door for a woman? Seriously? It's just... cheating.

One cheat isn't enough for this book, either. The author wants them at a fancy hotel Luke could never afford, so *VIOLA!* - he was magically the winner of free overnight hotel tickets, the year before! And then Am,anda goes back to Seattle, but the author wants them to reconnect, so she SENDS HIS CHILDREN TO THE GRANDPARENTS FOR WEEKS (no one's mentioned THAT upcoming visit before it was needed)... and Oh! Luke just *happens* to have a week's vacation he can take RIGHT NOW, without any notice to his classes or rearranging schedules at work - so that he can go to Seattle. Funny how ALL of that just falls into place magically for him, at JUST the time the author wants it to, isn't it?

It doesn't stop there, either. Bestie was event planning for the company but goes into labor, so *VOILA!* the company hires an event planner. Um... wouldn't they have done that from the BEGINNING, since a) the writer isn't qualified for that job, b) they knew she'd be having a baby in the midst of all this, and c) the writer has her OWN job to do at the paper? I. Can't. Even.

And yeah... the sex that's in this thing is over the top, and makes Amanda seem SO CHEAP, herself. She's not talented, admirable, interesting... she's a city girl on a mission to save her ass at her job, and get laid in the offing. Cheap. And kind of distasteful. Of course cop-boy be without sex two years, so it's not like he's complaining. What guy would? Hello, s.e.x.x.x.x.x.x....

As for Luke, he's absolutely NO 'wonderful father'. He's ignoring his children for Amanda the entire book, pawning them off on their aunt, his in-laws, at summer camp... and then leaving a 5yo in the care of a 13yo at a carnival in a large, unfamiliar and highly dangerous city?! I'm a mom of five. I do not buy for a SECOND that this is a good parent, hello!

She's cheap, he's self-absorbed...
WHY would we like these people?!

I got to where I had to stop. I'm sorry - this was NOT a good book. I really just wanted to read #2 in the 'series', but read that we need to read them in order, somewhere. You don't have to read them in order. I promise. SKIP this one.

When Amanda sees the ad in the Odds Are Good for a single dad in Sitka, she begins imagining a good looking, devoted dad and quickly finds herself attached to a work project that has her stationed in Sitka researching bears for a stretch of time. Since she’ll be there anyway, she figures it won’t hurt to answer the personal ad -- at least she can have some fun while in Alaska.

Luke isn’t sure how to start dating again, nor is he certain he is ready to take that step. His sister, however, is prepared to give him just the push she is confident he needs. Taking a chance to meet one of the women who has answered his ad finds him sitting across from Amanda, a woman he met earlier in entirely different circumstances. Now he can sense something he didn’t allow himself to think about when they met - the possibility of some fun as he learns how to date again.

I loved the way these two challenged each other. What was supposed to be a no-strings fling quickly turns to more as Amanda ingratiates herself with Luke’s kids and family. She makes Luke face what exactly he is feeling towards moving into a life without his late wife, and how he feels about Amanda specifically.

This is not a completely smooth transition though. As cute as Luke’s kids are, and as helpful as his oldest is, they are still kids who are grieving the loss of their mother and the first woman who looks like may be trying to take her place is a hard connection to make, especially for the older kids. I loved the way Amanda held her own, but still let the kids own their feelings and work through things in their own time. Luke, too, still has some healing to do even as he thinks he is ready to move on.

This was a sweet, single dad story with elements that made it feel realistic and down to earth. The characters face the challenges a grieving family would, as well as a long distance relationship. Part of me felt like the ending was wrapped up faster than I would have liked in a bit of a high handed way, but in the end I loved where the characters ended up. I look forward to more from this series based on singles ads placed in an Alaskan paper marketed to the continental 48. It should be interesting to see how the other outlined situations play out as mainlanders make their way into the far northern state.

Katy Regnery never fails me when I’m in the mood to swoon. Her heroes are always men I ended up wishing for. Sweet, charismatic and vulnerable, they capture my heart Every. Single. Time. Luke Kingston fit that bill. Not only was he an incredibly sexy man, but he heart a genuineness about him. And he was an amazing dad to his children.

Single in Sitka brings us the story of a widower reluctant to move on after the loss of his wife. But with a meddling younger sister, determined to push him back into the dating scene, he meets Amanda McKendrick. A journalist first captivated by the singles ad she came across then enamored by the man she gets to know while doing a story in his home town.

Though an agreement to keep things casual, their chemistry overrode their intentions and ended up quickly changing from no-strings-attached to not wanting it to end. For just a short time together, they quickly realized their connection was much stronger than they anticipated. But they still had obstacles.

This story was beautiful. It touched on topics of second chances after a loss/breakup as well as a long distance relationship. How hard were these characters willing to hold on to what they had? How far were they willing to go to make it work?

To watch these amazing characters work through their fears and give in to their emotions...it was an emotional journey I enjoyed. Every step of the way.

Single in Sitka was a great start to this new series and I’m excited for what comes next.

So this book is fluffy and just a light read. I picked it up after reading a dark book so it did what it needed to do for me. There are some emotional points in it for sure but those just made the book have more substance.

I enjoyed the story. Single dad with three kids who falls for a fling. I loved their time together and the realness of how a relationship like that works and sucks.

So one thing is I lived in Alaska for 6 years so I know a few things and even though it’s not big things to most readers placement of where things were located weren’t correct for one thing. And I’m not sure why so much purple is used for the Seahawks. I’m a die hard fan and they are blue and green so again not sure where purple came from. The Washington huskies are purple so maybe that’s where.

So yes because of those things I had to take a star away. Again, for most readers it won’t matter but for me it does.
