Since this is the third book in the Starfell series, I'll try my best to not give any spoilers 🙈🤐

I really enjoyed watching Fable grow as a person in this book, and it was cool to see her mastering her powers! 😍 The easy banter between Fable and her friends is SO endearing, and I'm not sure what I'm going to do with myself when this series ends 😭💔
I loved seeing the world-building slowly expand through out the series, and the casual magic of Starfell is honestly what I loved the most.💫 Not to mention the amazing side-characters, and the mystery behind the magical objects 🙊 (like a magical bow? Um YES PLEASE 🙋♀️❤️)
I can't wait to see what happens next!!

The next installment in the Starfell series has a lot to offer. A quite lengthy book for middle grade, we encounter some inner turmoil for Fable in addition to a quest to find out more about the Blood Star and the villain who seems unstoppable on her course. This story raises a side questions about Fable and her friends' families and introduces new characters as well as producing surprising reunions. Fable has to be careful who to trust as she and her friends and guardians travel to the city during a big event, but as a team, there is a lot of growth, empowerment, and lessons of learning to accept help when needed. Looking forward to book 4! I think this is a very fun and magical read for middle grade readers with a lot to teach about self-confidence and trying until you succeed.

Loved it! Jessica's characters are the strongest aspect of her book. They are both funny, interesting and turn the plot towards funnier situations. Personally, I love Brennus's one liners that I found often sound like me!

Another wonderful adventure in the Starfell series!
While expanding on the universe and giving us exciting new characters, Jessica also takes us back to Mistford and builds new intrigues for old friends like Thorn, Brennus, and of course Fable. The worldbuilding continues to be such a strength for these novels, I can see myself wandering the fairgrounds in Mistford.
This is a darker entry to the series as Fable, almost a teenager now, is contending with the power growing wild inside her. Events from her past and answers about her parents come to light, and they aren't easy. At the same time she's trying to help her friends reunite with their families, stop an evil Lich who definitely wants to kill her/take a bunch of her blood, figure out what Endora plans to do with the Blood Star (hint: it's really bad) and learn to work with her darker emotions before her heart mage powers go rogue and hurt someone (again). It's obvious Jessica Renwick knows what she's doing as she throws these varied obstacles in Fable's path and we watch Fable rise to the occasion with the help of her friends. The strongest theme present is the power in accepting help from the people who love you, and supporting them in return. Every answer in this book brings two or three new questions and although a lot gets resolved there is plenty of urgency left for the next book, which I can't wait to read!
I recommend this series for fans of YA or MG magical mayhem, and readers who like friend squads taking down all evildoers. The last two books (The Book of Chaos and The Guitar of Mayhem) reminded me a lot of a Diana Wynne Jones, but this book puts me more in mind of the Circle of Magic series by Tamora Pierce. Fans of those two authors will enjoy the Starfell series.

Loved it!
I wasn't surprised that I enjoyed this book, but I was surprised that I liked it just about as much as the first in the series. That doesn't happen to me a lot with series, but Renwick has spun another magical, roller coaster ride of a tale.
After a brief period of peace, Fable and co. are threatened by the power hungry Endora and her wicked plans just as Fable is learning to deal with the negative side of being a heart mage. What is Endora's scheme this time? Can Fable prevent tragedy yet again, or will her own powers betray her?
I just gotta say, poor Fable! Being related to a relentless, wicked woman like Endora isn't easy. Fable has a lot of character growth this time around. I enjoyed seeing the negative side of her emotions and how that affected her powers, as well as seeing her work through her demons and triumph.
There were some great bits involving Thorn and her sister Orchid, and surprisingly Timothy enters the fold. I'm really loving the direction all of these characters are going.
I do hope that the adults will become at least a little more helpful in the future. Even though the focus needs to be on Fable and her friends, the adults' efforts are a bit underwhelming.
The plot for this book was really exciting. A lot is on the line, and Fable and her friends do what they do best. Investigate and pull together their knowledge. I loved seeing the gang back in action, and I was hanging on the edge of my seat the entire time with all the twists and turns. Can't wait to see what happens next for these brave heroes!

After all of the enticement laced into book two (The guitar of Mayhem), I had been so eagerly awaiting the latest instalment in the Starfell series, and this did not disappoint!
We are reunited with our characters at a time when each has their own struggle, and we get to see their strength and humanity as they find ways to navigate each new turn. As with the first two books, we are introduced to new characters and new destinations, each which serve to add fantastic new elements to the story; but it’s Renwick’s ability to incorporate the new with the old characters (some we haven’t seen in a while) that is truly a gift.
With so many lessons for each character to learn, we get to see them really grow and come into their own. Overall it was a delightful journey, and I can’t wait for book four.

Absolutely loved this book! Jessica created characters that are realistic, endearing, and hilarious, as well as a magical word that was so much fun to explore. As always, Jessica continues to weave in universal challenges for her characters, making it a great read for any age.

A great installment of Fable's adventures with her friends. Expanding on the world and magic, we get to see new and familiar faces. While answering questions and resolving problems this story wraps up nicely, leading into the next book. I look forward to continuing this series!

In the third book of the series, the main character, Fable Nuthatch, once again find herself in the thick of adventure and excitement with her friends. However, Endora and her wicked minions aren't her only troubles. Fable struggles with deep feelings of frustration, inadequacy, and fear about the chaotic magic she possesses, but cannot control. All of this is on top of the normal teenage angst that a young girl would normally have to go through without being a heart mage. This leads to relatable and touching interactions with other characters throughout the book that may cause both laughter and tears.
Overall, I loved the experience of reading this book. I'm already waiting for the fourth book in the series "The Curse of the Warlock" expected in 2021. I am very excited to share this book with my niece's to read as they are in love with the first two books in the series!

An adventure more exciting than the last two!
This book is best for middle-grade readers, but older readers would enjoy it too. I know I sure did.
Book 3 of the Starfell series has the trio of friends on an even more dangerous and action-packed path than the last two books. Their friendship grows, and new people join their journey.
Fable's cousin, Timothy, gets more story time in this book too.
Love the world Jessica Renwick has built, and the characters are great.
