"It is rare to see LGBT representation in a fairy tale like this and I really love it. It wasn’t a main plot point, but it is there."

I'm using this to mark that I read the Emund book. I still need to read the 1-3 books in this series but I've read all the rest.

It's been so long since I returned to this series. I have read all of the series but books 1-3 odd I know but the way the author wrote these books you can skip them and still understand everything going on within them. I was so excited when I found out that Edmund has his own book. He was my favorite character in the Glass Princess books. I always wondered how exactly he ended up in Madra and this book gives you the story on how he and why he came to the kingdom. I loved that we got to see him interact with Estevan before all the craziness that happened in Glass Princess and the Glass Kingdom. We also get to figure out why he set up his own spies in Madra instead of him going back home to his Queen and friends. The writing is so easy to read that I devoured this whole book in just a couple hours. If you haven't read this series you need to asap. I loved it so much and I will be going back and reading books 1-3 and reviewing them here as well.

* This review is for Edmund's story ONLY! To read my reviews for the other books, please see the links at the end of this review! I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest opinion*

Edmund has by far been one of my favourite character when ready the previous books in the Fantasy and Fairytales series. Hence why I was over the moon when I heard he’d get his own novel! I loved getting to know a bit more background information on him. I loved to see his love for Stev progress over time. I loved his interaction with Helena. And I simply just loved reading about him!

It was such a fun read and from the first page I was immediately transported back into the world that I’ve come to love so much. I have yet to read Etta’s story, so naturally Helena’s and the Rhodipus’ story is my favourite. I loved to get another little glimpse into the lives of the people I hadn’t realised I’ve missed so much. It felt like coming home!

I can’t wait to read the first three books in the series, to see more about Edmund, more about this world and simply more fantasy and fairytales!

I loved this series so much! I devoured all the books so quickly. M. Lynn did an amazing job with these fairy tail retellings and the Edmund novella was gold! Edmund is the one I was my favorite after Etta for the whole series (and then Tyson). When he hurt it was like a brother hurting and I wanted him to find happiness. I loved Edmund and seeing his time in Madra was very nice. I got to see why he stayed and the beginnings of his relationship with the royal family. It was well done and seeing Edmund get his happily ever after had me grinning like a madwoman. I am so happy with how this series went and I can’t wait to see what M. Lynn comes out with next!

Golden Curse book one
Persinette (Etta), last of a royal line from a vanquished and abandoned land of magic users, must bear the curse of her family. She has trained her whole life for this. Now Etta is about to turn of age.

Etta's family was cursed by La Dame, the wicked magical ruler of a rival realm, to be the protectors of their mortal enemies, the rulers of Gaule. When Etta's father held the position to the current king, her family lived in the castle. She grew up for many years as the playmate to the future king, Prince Alex, but that was before magic was outlawed.

All magic users had to flee, find places to hide or be killed. There were purges to cleanse the land of the evils of magic! Etta trained in secret until now, hidden away in the Black Forest. It's time for her to take her place as the next protector.

Will the prince remember his childhood friend? Will Etta be the one to finally break her family's curse? Will she be able to live in the castle and hide her magic? Read Golden Curse and discover the true story of Rapunzel!
Golden Chains book two
M. Lynn has written a second installment to her trilogy that outshines an excellent first! The drama and action are more intense. The plot is more twisted and inticate. Her fantasy world has expanded, and new fully developed characters have joined the old, filling in some questions left from the first book. Never fear this book ends with a bang. You will be waiting with baited breath for the final book in this most original fairy tale trilogy! Great writing!!!

La Dame has invaded Bela, and begun to abduct the border people of Gaule to create a population. What are her plans? Will she invade Gaule? Will she abandon Dracon, her own kingdom?

The Queen of Gaule is confined to her chambers. Persinette is locked in the dungeon along with hundreds of other magic users. Though the pain the curse caused her from being distanced from King Alex has ceased, her anger toward him builds daily with the abuse she receives in his dungeons. If Etta is ever freed she may very well kill him herself!

Alex is in anguish over having Etta imprisoned. The law against magic is clear, but how can magic can be evil when so many of the people he loves can wield it? The Queen even sent his brother, Tyson, into hiding for fear of his reaction.

The kingdom is in political turmoil, and the King has no one he can trust. Even Alex best friend, Edmond, is in hiding for using magic! The nobles certainly can't be trusted for advice. They are most of the problem, and now there is the possible threat from Dracon. Where can he turn?

Grab this page turner. You won't put it down until you finish the last page!

Golden Crown book three
The final book in this great Rapunzel trilogy is filled with nerve wracking intensity. All threads come together, all plot holes filled, the whole series is extremely well written. M. Lynn has strong world building, evocative description, and full-fleshed characters combined with a magical imagination. Try this series. You will be happy you did!

Things have settled in Bela since the battle with La Dame. All her magical illusion and her followers fled with her, back within the borders of Dracon. Not defeated, La Dame is just waiting. There will be war!

Things, have settled in Bela since the battle with La Dame. All her magical illusion and her followers fled with her back within the borders of Dracon. Not defeated, La Dame is just waiting. There will be war!

Bela is left with a free people, those that came seeking their freedom, those La Dame abducted, the ones who followed Persinette when she freed them all, a small village, and their queen. Etta is a reluctant queen, embarrassed by the looks of fear and awe, the respect, the title. Someone has to lead.

Thankfully Etta has her cousin, Matteo, who served in La Dame's court to help guide her. Her brother, Tyson, raised a prince, helps her adjust. Edmond, her most faithful friend, props her up or knocks her down as needed. The four share a small home in the village. Most villagers share.

Etta's magic, the magic of her family line, threatens to consume her. If she is to have any chance to save Bela, any chance against La Dame, she must learn to control it. Edmond urges her to practice despite her fear that the magic will harm other if she tries. Can Etta learn enough about her magic to defeat La Dame? Can she learn in time?

There is great unrest in Gaule. The King's fight for his castle and to free his mother have been much harder than anticipated. Even with success, declaring all citizens of Gaule equal and making it so are not the same. Most of the populace still hate and fear the magic users.

Can Alex keep the magic folk in Gaule safe? What will Etta do if her people are once again persecuted in Gaule? She swore to Alex his kingdom had nothing to fear from herself or Bela, but what sort of queen abandons her own?

What of La Dame? Alex pledged Gaule's aid to Bela. If Alex cannot enforce the laws within his own borders, how can he march at Etta's side? War waits for no one. When will La Dame strike?

Glass Kingdom book four
M. Lynn has lent her special magic to another fairy tale and the reader wins the prize. Read the True Story of Cinderella as only Ms. Lynn could bring her to life. Building on the realm from her Rapunzel series, the reader enters the homeland of the Madran Mercenaries and meet the intriguing rulers. Each country in the series to date has had a totally different political climate. Open the book and see what awaits in Madra!

Helena is the Madran Princess. One would think it a perfect life, except in Madra, a Princess may not show her face until after her name day, at eighteen, when she is introduced to the public with a lavish ball, at which she is to choose a husband. In reality that husband would be the choice of her father, the King!

Helena is not the only royal child. Her parents have also two sons, Helena’s older and much younger brothers. Then there are the bastard Princes, twin brothers fathered by the King. So Helena is surrounded by family. She lives vicariously through her brothers, each of whom she loves dearly, but what she longs for is real freedom.

Madra is an unhappy kingdom. Their armies are sent to form allegiances with other lands, pulling families apart and taking labor that is needed at home. The coffers are nearly depleted by the King’s obsession with war, while he ignores the plight of his people.

The week of her name day ball, Helena escapes the palace for the first time in her life and ventures into the city. No one has seen her face, so none can recognize her as the Princess, but as a disguise she wears her younger brother’s clothes, presenting herself as a boy. It is the first time Helena has seen the conditions that most of her people live with daily, the hunger, poverty. She is appalled at the expense of the ball to be held for her when there is so much need.

What will happen with Princess Helena? Will her father choose a husband of her liking? Will Helena be able to find a way to help her people?

Glass Princess book five
This second book in a great fairy tale series picks up right where the first left off. Follow the further adventures of a displaced princess whose family has been torn apart by rebellion.

Helena, her younger brother, Kassander, and Dell have taken refuge in Bela, after one of the princes steals the throne, killing Helena’s parents. She anxiously awaits the arrival of Quinn, the twin brother of the usurper to the throne. Helena knows Quinn will stay loyal. With his help she hopes to return to Madras and reclaim the throne.

Helena has hoped to gain the aid of Bela’s queen in this undertaking. With magic on her side she would be sure to win. However Bela fought its own war too recently for anyone in Bela to seek another. Can the princess win over Bela as allies?

Is Helena’s brother, Quinn, well and coming to her aid? Or has he sided with his twin in the overthrow of their father? Dell is loyal and will stand at her side, but can the two of them make a difference against the current king in Madras?

Noble Thief book six
This is a retelling with a very different twist. Set in the same world as the other books in this series, in The Noble Prince we get to explore the story of a beloved character from some of the other books. Tyson, a prince of two kingdoms, but heir to none, is a great character. His seemingly simple but busy life is far more complicated than one would think, and he harbors secrets even from the family that claims so much of his love and loyalty.

Tyson, born in Gaule, a kingdom that hates and fears magic equally, wields magic himself. His status as prince keeps most animosity from him, but the prejudice in Gaule runs deep.

Tyson currently lives in Bela where his sister is queen. In this country full of magic, he can be himself without fear. If his mother wasn’t the queen of Gaule, he would stay in Bela permanently. Except not only his mother lives in Gaule, but the girl he has loved for most of his life, Amalie.

Once Amalie was set to marry his brother, Alex. It was an arranged marriage with no love on either side. After the arrangement was set aside, Amalie and Tyson finally had their chance to explore the love they had between them. All seemed well until Amalie was drawn back to Gaule and the running of her family’s estate.

Tyson doesn’t know what went wrong, but Amalie drew farther and farther away, the heavier her burden of responsibility sat on her shoulders. The distance finally drove Tyson back to Bela, leaving his heart behind with Amalie. No matter what he has done since he can’t purge Amalie from his soul.

Now called back to Gaule on a mission for his mother, Tyson knows he will not be able to stay away from Amalie. Will he find the reason for the rift? Amalie carries her own secrets. At night she leads a life far different from the estate and her title. Will Tyson discover her secret? Will the two ever be able to reconcile?

Cursed Beauty book seven by M. Lynn
This writer writes books that touch your heart and even your life. Don’t think for a minute that this is some tired old fairy tale retelling! It is fresh and new with characters you will fall in love with, cry with and experience their joy. The one thing you won’t be is unmoved. If you haven’t found this writer, under any or all her names, do it today!

Aurora has spent her entire life preparing for the curse that will befall her on her eighteenth birthday. She lost her mother when she was a very young child. For a while it was just herself, her father and her grandmother in their small cottage in the woods. No one else dared live so close to the walls of Dracon. Then one day her father just didn’t come home.

Aurora was used to his extended absences, but he always came back. When he didn’t, she was sure the fault lay with Dracon’s queen, La Dame. Now her grandmother was gone as well, taken by old age. Aurora had been alone for two years aside from La Dame’s visits. La Dame was like a vulture, not waiting for her to die, but for the time the full measure of the curse she put on Aurora would unfold.

Never has Bela’s battle come so near Aurora’s home. She new her kingdom battled with Gaule, but she had never seen the repercussions until today. Aurora is perched in the trees when two soldiers hide another, severely wounded, in the safety of the forest before returning to the fight.

She can hardly be expected to leave the young man there to die. Thus, not only the fate of one girl, but that of a kingdom is sealed.

Edmund special only in box set

Edmond
The author closes out this series with the tale of one of the most loved characters, Edmund. It is, as all her work, beautifully written, with Edmund finally getting his happily ever after!

Edmund is engaged to Etta’s cousin. The closer it comes to an actual wedding, the more he panics. Is he really ready to settle down or did he settle for this relationship because it was easy, and he was lonely amidst the happy couples around him? All he knows is that he can’t go through with it. He craves adventure. There hasn’t been a mission for him in too long.

As hard as it is, Edmund breaks his engagement and undertakes a new mission for the queen that will take him far away from Bela. Etta wants to secure a trade agreement with Madras. Edmund is to be her ambassador there. Not returning until he can get it.

Except when he arrives, the king refuses to seven see him, much less entertain a treaty. In fact, the only one in the royal family who does speak to him is Helena, the masked princess. Unfortunately, she has no influence with her father. Even the crown prince, Estevan, seems to be a total snob uninterested in the wellbeing of his people.

Edmund immediately sees the unrest and poverty of the people. If this foreign ambassador can see the ills, why can’t the royalty? Are they truly so removed from their people? Will Edmund be able to do anything to ease the suffering while he idles, waiting for an audience? Will a treaty ever come about?

After reading this series, I am writing this review to share my honest opinions on the series. I will not provide any spoilers for any of the books, and will discuss the series as a whole, not the individual books in it.

This is an enjoyable and fast paced fantasy series filled with creative, well developed characters, a rich plot and a beautifully thought out fantasy land. These books are amazing to read when you just want an escape, the visualization and descriptions are fantastic. These creative fairy tale retellings don’t follow the traditional retelling trope, rather, they are twisted and adjusted to turn the story from simply a mere retelling into something more. I can’t say enough, all the books in this set were a great read, and I would definitely recommend this series to anyone into YA fantasy. If that’s the genre you like to read, this series should be on your TBR list!

These fantasy novels are very loosely inspired by fairy tales, but they are mostly just wonderfully imagined fantasy books. I love the magic. I love the world-building. I love the diverse characters. The women don't fall into "strong female character" tropes while still being interesting female characters. I love the inclusion of homosexuality and how it fits into the different regions, how characters react to it. The romances are truly epic.

The magic in the first trilogy gets a little unnecessarily complicated at times. I also would have liked more racial diversity. Otherwise, truly excellent series. I was happy to buy all of them in a single Kindle book for easy reading.

Michelle Lynn has a Striking, Distinctive and Superiority in her re-telling of Fairytales. In my opinion they are unprecedented. She can totally ensnare you with her first words and in Each of these single books definitely enhances All the The Fantasy & Fairytales series Boxset. The characters are introduced in a slow burn way into the inventive storylines before the heat is turned up as they take over your imagination and you dissolve and re-appear in the world they live, one, that’s full of magic. Everything flows easily Enabling you to grasp and understand the battles ahead of the characters. If you could pick up arms and fight beside then you would, because this is a world, where our favourite characters are all you can think about. The dedication M.Lynn puts into her characters enables you to experience their hearts and souls, add in a fresh and inventive storyline and your heart will be ripped out of your chest and slowly the pieces are whipped around in a whirlwind. The bonus of the story of Edmund deserves to be released on its own. Edmund gives us an insight into one of the characters from this exceptional series. Edmund is a brilliant character in this series. Loyal, dependable, funny & always fought for the underdog. Now after reading This novella my heart & mind was changed. We saw a man who was loved by all who had deep dark feelings of being a broken, lonely man, we see the inside of his heart, mind & personality. We see him go to another country, where once again his loyalties are tested & his heart broken. Will Edmund finally find his happy ever after or is he doomed to loneliness. One thing is for sure Michelle Lynn will keep you glued to the pages, she always gives her all, has an understanding of emotions that will rock you to the core, constantly finding that spark & depth in her characters that gives you no choice but to root for them. A 100% recommendation from me for this Boxset and anything written by Michelle Lynn

Overall: I love that I can randomly pick up a book from Lynn and smile because I remember the characters clearly, (surprising w/ the number of books I read) and remember within a few pages how much I love her voice. You can easily pick up the series with book 1, book 4 (like I did), or with book 6, and not miss much. She does a wonderful job eluding to the other story arcs without giving away that set.

Book 1- Golden Curse
Book 2- Golden Chains
Book 3- Golden Crown
Book 4- Glass Kingdom: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Book 5- Glass Princess: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Book 6- Noble Thief: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Book 7- Cursed Beauty: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Review for Book 8- Edmund:
I am so incredibly pleased that Michelle chose to write a novella just for Edmund. He is such a great character. The story flowed seamlessly and Edmund's character was just as enjoyable as he seemed from the Glass books. It filled in details from Edmunds point of view that you only saw from Lena's.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Mind Blowing Series Of Fairytale Re-Imaginings That Are Like Nothing I've Read Before!!💔💥😭🌟🔥💘🌟
Fantasy and Fairytales: The Complete Series, Books 1-8

I had the utter pleasure of reading these books individually. I spotted this box set & just had to review it. The stories inside are all so intricate, surprising and confronting but eventually romantic leading to HEA for all of the main characters!!😍🔥💘

These Fairytale re-imaginings manage to deal with Sexism, Racism, Xenophobia, Homophobia, & Religious persecution without you even realising what your reading at the time, then you'll think about it afterwards and have a 'A-Ha' moment, or a lot of them!😉 Its so cleverly crafted into the tales, it's actually integral to them, that you don't notice the commentary it has on our world at large - it's genius!!💕🙏🌟 It is NEVER preachy in any way shape or form, in fact you could read every book within it & never draw a single parallel, I suppose I took a deeper meaning though?!

Honestly, you will miss out on great word building, magic, romance, steam, fight scenes, terror & wars if you don't immerse yourself in the world's in this box set!!😳💥 I can't recommend it highly enough 😍🌟🔥💘

Absolutely amazing!!! I know these books are “retellings” of classic stories so I was definitely hesitant at first but I was blown away!! Nothing about these books is short of unique. The stories are so creative and enticing. I finished 1 book of the set in 2 days because I simply could not put it down. It was so enticing and I had to know everything that was happening. These stories are not at all what you would expect them to be based on their descriptions of being a “retelling”. You need to read every single one! LOVE!!!!!

This series is so good and creative, I flew through this and occasionally go back and reread several passages. The Edmund novella was needed, it was hilarious. Edmund really carried the series lol.
They hook you in from the get-go, enticing, entertaining, short and hilarious at some points.
You don't really have to read them in order, but the characters all merge together. Books 1-3 are Etta, A book focuses on Aurora and Phillip, another book on Amalie (I love her), 2 on Helena and 1 on Edmund.
I kind of wish there were more books in the series, but who knows?
