Pet Whisperer P.I. #7

Raccoon Racketeer

Rate this book
Is this nosy trash panda a sleuth or a suspect?

Lately my life has seemed pretty perfect—great house, great gig as my own boss, great new boyfriend, and the world’s most awesome talking cat. Turns out I shouldn’t have let my guard down…

Even though my private investigation firm is brand new, I’ve already got some not-so-friendly competition, and it’s coming from the sticky-fingered raccoon who lives under my front porch. I have no doubt he’s robbing his clients since he’s stealing from mine, too.

Things go from irritating to downright dangerous when he foists a little trinket from my attic, one that suggests dark secrets and spells big trouble for my beloved Nan. I need to learn more, but that’s not going to be easy since the person of interest lives under the same roof.

Can I trust this raccoon racketeer with something so dear? Unfortunately, I haven’t got any other options.

Molly Fitz is the quirky, cozy mystery pen name of USA Today bestselling author, Melissa Storm. And while she can't technically talk to animals, she and her doggie best friend, Sky Princess, have deep and very animated conversations as they navigate their days. Add to that, five more dogs, a snarky feline, comedian husband, and diva daughter, and you can pretty much imagine how life looks in the Casa de Fitz.

Molly lives in a house on a high hill in the Michigan woods and occasionally ventures out for good food, great coffee, or to meet new animal friends.

Never enter into a deal with a raccoon. Even if he's a friend....well sort of a friend. Well, maybe an acquaintance? A very sneaky acquaintance.

Annie Russo and her feline sidekick Octo-Cat find out just how slick and sneaky Pringle the Raccoon can be in the 7th book of the Pet Whisperer P.I. series by Molly Fitz.
I love this series! It's a perfect feel-good, cozy mystery series! The books are short length (about 20 chapters) and easy, entertaining reads. Always cute animals & an engaging mystery!

In Raccoon Racketeer, Annie gets mixed up in missing mail, missing documents and a family secret. To solve the case & discover clues about the secret, she has to hire Pringle to help her with a little detective work. Lots of entertaining action and cute animal antics in this one! It kept my attention from start to finish!

I hope Pringle comes back to help Annie and Octo-Cat again! He's entertaining and has snark equal to Octo himself!

Another great book in this series! These books never fail to put a smile on my face!

Raccoon Racketeer by Molly Fitz is the seventh novel in the Pet Whisperer PI series. Angie Russo learns that Pringle, their resident raccoon, has sticky fingers. When Angie gets her first PI client, she ends up uncovering a family secret. Unfortunately, Nan does not wish to talk, but Angie is determined. Angie and Octo-Cat team up with Pringle to dig up the answers she seeks. Raccoon Racketeer is a humorous and entertaining tale. It can be read as a standalone for those who have not read the other novels in the series. Personally, I believe it is better to read the books in order. This way you get to find out about Angie and how she can speak to animals. Each book builds upon the previous one plus they are fun to read. I thought Raccoon Racketeer was nicely written and the story moves at a quick pace. There is one amusing incident after another. Pringle is a wily raccoon and who knew that raccoons could read. Nan really should not have given him the origami book. I like how the author makes each character unique. Humans and animals alike. Nan is an over-the-top personality. I wish I had a fraction of her gumption and energy. Angie does not stand a chance against Nan, Octo-Cat, Pringle and Paisley (such a sweetie). She is lucky to have Charles in her life. There is one thing, though, that was not addressed (spoiler) and I hope we get the answer in the next book (something Pringle extricated from the attic). I found Raccoon Racketeer to be a delight to read and I am eager to the next story this amusing series. My favorite scene was Angie in the electronics store. It cracked me up. The ending was perfect. Raccoon Racketeer is a comical cozy mystery with a shrewd raccoon, a flier foul up, a serious secret, missing mail, and entertaining electronics.

This was a fun book, with real investigating; it was right up there with the best from the series. Octo-Cat is old self (still hate that nickname; why not Octavius?), Paisley behaves just like I would expect a Chihuahua, and Pringle, the naughty raccoon, is an amazing character and exactly how I would imagine a talking raccoon to act.

However, the Apple product placement reared its ugly head again, and there were a couple of unfortunate linguistic stumbles:
"At what point do we give up on our entrepreneurial enterprise?" (Huh!) and “Hey,” the raccoon whined. “I resemble that remark.” (try "I resent that remark.").

It was a solid 4 stars, I really enjoyed the book, but the author chose to have one of the characters make a morally reprehensible choice, which I cannot forgive. I do not hold the character responsible for that action - if this makes sense - but the author. It was just wrong, as well as illegal; it's called kidnapping. It was an extremely puzzling and disturbing plot twist; I hope the next book will make this more palatable and that some past action will make it justifiable. And for that unsavoury turn, I took a whole star out of my rating.

Light crime with a talking cat and raccoon and dog. Only the central character can hear them. The raccoon has been accumulating garbage and papers under the house, which has annoyed several people. This is also a fire hazard and general health hazard so I would have been getting it cleared a lot more quickly.

If you like strangely talkative animals and just want a fun read, it's good. Don't expect a lot of crime.

This was a delightful story on how a young woman had the uncanny ability to communicate with animals. These three animals helped her solve a family mystery, which there was a very happy ending to it. The story takes place in upper northern United States.

Wasn’t bad but not my favorite. Nan is still kind of annoying to me. I’m glad they get along but I don’t like her that much. At least now that she has a boyfriend she is less boy crazy so that was nice.

Can't say I like this book much, I read the first few chapters and I stop. I don't feel like reading it, then I flipped to the last few chapters and I read to the end. The story that takes about 20 chapters to tell which I short cut through this way to get the gist of it. If a book is written that I couldn't wait to read thru that I need to know the outcome, I would find out the end result then go back and go thru from where I jumped. This one just didn't grab me enough to find out what occurred in the middle.

All the woo woo about able to talk to animals? Haven't Molly heard of animal whisperers? Angie can go ahead and announce to the world that she is an animal whisperer so it is not such a dire situation for anyone to catch her talking to the animals. I think this is what caused me to loose my interest in reading the book/series.

Also, in one of the chapters, (#3?) she found out that her coworker is a shifter and they know magic. she requested to have her coworker to erase her memory. so why keep on mention that she don't know why she can speak to animals. Just stop that! very annoying writing here.

Any ways, this is the last book of this series I have access to thru the library and since I don't care for the story line so much, I am quite done with the series.

Who knew?

Another good story by Molly Fitz! I have really enjoyed the Pet Whisperer series and this one continues the fun.
This time around, Angie is trying to drum up business for her P.I. firm so she decides to send out flyers all over town. Yet they mysteriously all end up back in her own yard! Turns out Pringle the raccoon has a penchant for stealing. So when Angie goes under the porch, she finds many things the raccoon has stolen. A LOT of things. Turns out, a couple of those things had been stolen from the attic of the house and when Angie goes thru them, she discovers something very important and potentially emotionally disturbing too. Nan wants nothing to do with it and refuses to even talk abt it.
But no spoilers here! You'll have to read the book to find out.

Raccoon Racketeer (Pet Whisperer P.I. #7) by Molly Fitz is particularly hilarious. Angie and Nan discover that Pringle, their racoon friend is a sticky fingered resident thief and vandal. His den under the front porch is filled with many many things that have gone missing from their house. But, one of the things found reveals a horrifying secret held by Nan for many years.

Angie and Octo-Cat have their first case, though unpaid, for the local post lady; and resolving Nan's horrifying secret take Angie, Octo-Cat and Pringle with help from Charles to solve. Angie has to hire Pringle with the promise of a favor as payment. (You'd think she would have learned not to make open ended promises of favors, but that's just Angie!)

Lots of fun to read.

I love Molly Fitz Pet Whisperer series and Raccoon Racketeer was no exception! We meet old friends Angie (who can talk and hear animals), Nan, Octo-cat, Paisley the Chihuahua and even the bad-tempered racoon named Pringle. Angie and Octo-cat need to solve another mystery thanks to Pringle. Pringle stole the flyers that Angie had put on cars and various other places to advertise her P.I. business. When she found the flyers in Pringles home under the porch, she found a mystery that she went on an adventure that would cause trouble between Angie and her Nan. Can ties be fixed? Will Angie and Octo-cat solve this mystery?

I have been provided with a copy of Raccoon Racketeer by the author for an impartial review. This is the seventh book in the brand-new Pet Whisperer P.I. series. I just loved this story and this wonderful family that I just can’t get enough of. I just loved getting to go along on their journey and I just didn’t want to put it down. It was so easy to get lost in and I highly recommend reading this title. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series and see more of these wonderful characters.

You never know what you’ll read next in this series still just as good as ever.
You don’t have to read these in order but they are better ifbyou do. Although the author put in enough “back story references “ that you aren’t lost, reading about why people and animals came to be. But if you don’t have access to this book then down put it down not to read
And another great book to recommend to my advanced reading preteen friends

Pros:

I enjoy how the various animals have distinct voices and personalities that don’t seem to be based solely on their gender or breed but take into account their likes and dislikes, upbringing and lifestyle.

Cons:

While it is good to have a mystery that is less high stakes and more realistic it does leave me wondering how someone with so many degrees isn’t bored out of her mind seemingly accomplishing nothing.

Angie is back with Nan, Paisley & Octo-Cat. The P.I. business has it's first case. Who is stealing mail and damaging mail boxes? Now important papers are missing from Angie's home. This book like all the rest, is a fast and fun read. All the character's and animals are so lovable. oh no, this one has a little drama. I recommend this book.

I love the slapstick zaniness of Angie’s animal companions, but if it were me, Pringle would have found himself donated to a zoo… or possibly a museum. The story’s filled with lots of secrets and some shenanigans. And at least one of those secrets is going to make life very interesting for Angie and her family going forward. I can’t wait to see where the author takes us next.

Raccoon Racketeer by Molly Fitz is book #7 in the Pet Whisperer PI Series. Angie Russo ends up with competition for her Pet Whisperer P. I. business - from her own raccoon, Pringle! Hilarious antics follow after Pringle practically forces Angie to hire him to solve a case for her. This is a fun read and part of a delightful animal series.
