Mack I've keep my life simple after my accident. No attachments, just the stage. I stay away from the groupies and the drama. For me, music is my life, working for my big break.
Then she shows up at the bar where I'm playing and upstages me. Rightfully so. Every eye is on her, including mine.
But just as quickly as she appeared, she's gone and now I'm not just chasing my dream. I'm chasing her.

This is book 5 in the series but each one can be read as a standalone. Good short story. Mack and Sue Ellen’s story was everything – cute, fun, hot and just wonderful. I really enjoyed this book. It is a quick read but worth it.

Audible. Also available in KU. At the time of this review the ebook is free.
This is my first story by Adele Niles and narrator Randi Johnson. I love May/December romance, and while the characters are early 20s & late 30s, it really wasn’t a factor here. This was short, steamy, and quite captivating for such a short audio.
Randi Johnson has a sexy gravelly voice, perfect for an older country singer. I’d definitely listen to him again.

Another sexy short novella in a great series. Mack and Sue Ellen have an instant attraction. Solid characters and adorable storyline. From playing guitar to being a driver that happens to pick the woman of his dreams. This was a great addition to the series.
Upstaged by Adele Niles is a curvy girl romance novella that I listened to on audio narrated by Randi Johnson. This is the fifth book in the Slippery Curves Series. Each book in the series can be read as a stand-alone.
I absolutely love Adele’s books. I just love the insta-love connection between the characters in this series. They always leave me smiling.
Randi did an amazing job on the narration. I love that he uses different tones/voices for each character. It really makes the story come to life.
This was a cute little novella about an older man younger curvy woman relationship. I loved it. For me it could only have gotten better if it was a full length novel.
With all five books in the "Slippery Curvy Series," "Upstaged" is my all-time favorite one written by Adele Niles. It had movement of music; although you couldn't actually hear hear it, movement of love, with desire, and it had movement all the way through the storyline, kept you wanting to listen to what was going to happen next.
I loved how the two main characters interact with one another I love the element of surprise that was written in and I definitely love the epilogue, it made me very happy, it seemed to fit with the whole storyline.
The narrator Randi Johnson narrated all five books and on this particular book I thought he did a wonderful job in all the areas that he needed to fill in, so👍👍 up for Mister Johnson.
I definitely believe that "Upstaged" is a book that many readers will enjoy listening to and I definitely agree that they will find it to be 5- ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ across the board.
A yellow sundress, shots and great music lead to a fun evening
Upstaged is a thoroughly enjoyable story in the Slipper Curves series by Adele Niles. This is the story of Sue Ellen and Mack, aka Michael. She is a Mack is thirty-eight years old and is a country music singer, player and song writer. He plays different bars around the Austin, TX music scene and is very talented. He also used to drive a semi-truck but was in an accident a year ago where he was injured. He is now better after doing rehab and taking care of himself. Now instead of driving a truck he drives for Uber when he feels like it. Sue Ellen is twenty-two years old and writes pieces for a local music blog where she covers the country music scene in Austin. She is talented and enjoys her job, where she realizes she was given a huge break and wants to prove herself to be worthy of it. Sue Ellen is assigned to write a piece on Mack. But the night she goes to see him play with the intention of interviewing him afterwards does not quite so as planned. Her best friend Cara goes with her to the bar where they also encounter Sue Ellen's ex boyfriend of four years Billy, a lying, cheating SOB. So several shots later and Sue Ellen is feeling no pain and having a great time enjoying the Mack's music but not really doing her job. Plus it does not hurt that Mack is a handsome hunk. Once Sue Ellen and Mack meet, in a really funny way initially, they are immediately attracted to each other.
This story is steamy hot but also has a story-line that is interesting and nice characters, both the two main and the couple supporting which are all witty. I really enjoyed reading Upstaged and would recommend it.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
I enjoy the Slippery Curves series by Adele Niles. She has created great characters and scenarios for her short, flirty, sexy reads. My only issue is I wish they were longer . Mack and Sue Ellen's story is fast-paced and set in the Austin music scene. Mack's an up and coming country singer and Sue Ellen is a music blogger sent to cover his show. To say things don't go to plan an understatement and Sue Ellen has to go to another show to get her interview. Little does she know, her Uber driver is also Mack. From the moment she figure it out, all bets are off. The couple's chemistry is off the charts and things move along rather quickly. Though the story is fast-paced it is filled with longing, drive, and passion. Randi Johnson is one of my favorite narrators and he does an excellent job bringing these characters to life. He gives Mack the sexiest Texas drawl that sounds oh so swoon worthy. I enjoy this series and I think Mack and Sue Ellen's story might be my favorite of the bunch. Grab Upstaged and enjoy.
All Mack wants is a simple life he does odd jobs and sings at bars all around Austin until he gets his big break in the country music business until he meets Sue Ellen. Sue Ellen is a beautiful curvy woman she’s trying to get over her ex who she was with for a couple of years her best friend Cara says it’s time for her to get back in the dating scene again but Sue Ellen isn’t interested she just wants to concentrate on her job blogging about up and coming country music stars she loves her job and tonight she is on an assignment so Cara tells her to wear her sexy black dress but Sue Ellen prefers to wear her sexy yellow dress instead. When Sue Ellen and Cara turn up at the bar guess who’s there that’s right her ex and he’s with a woman but when the singer comes on stage Sue Ellen’s mouth drops open this guy is absolutely gorgeous. Mack starts singing about an imaginary woman who he longs for but she doesn’t exist, he looks on the dance floor and that’s when he see’s her a delicious curvy beauty in a yellow dress everyone is watching her dance but all Mack see’s is her and no one else. Mack has to find out who this beauty is but when Mack finishes up early to meet the beauty she is gone and he is very disappointed. Fantastic story I loved it and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
I listened to this book at 1.45x Author: Adele Niles Plot. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars Story. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars & why Loved this story. Wish it wasn't so short. I could have listened to more. Heat. 1/2🔥🔥flames Narrator.: Randi Johnson Betrayal of the story. 🥇 Gold Randi really got into this book. He brought the book to life. Adele Niles gone to soon. But you left all of us a piece of you. Thank you. R.I.P.
i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the fifth book in the Slippery Curves Series. In this book, Mack is a country singer who sings in small bars after he was in a bad truck accident the year before. Sue Ellen is a journalist who writes for a music blog and was assigned to write about Mack. Sue Ellen was recently dumped by her ex-boyfriend and her best friend decided she needed to have some fun, so when they went to see Mack, they had a bit too much to drink and Sue Ellen missed talking to Mack after the show. Mack also drove for a ride share to make extra money and when Sue Ellen called for a drive, she didn't recognize Mack, but he knew her and he wanted her. When Sue Ellen called Mack for a ride to another of his shows, she still didn't know it was him, so he took a chance to ask her what she thought of him. When Mack took the stage, Sue Ellen realized who he was and they met up again after the show. Sue Ellen was attracted to Macka nd when he suggested going back to his place, she couldn't wait. I liked this quick read. I liked Mack and thought he was a good guy and he wanted to be with Sue Ellen and make her happy. Another good one.
This book while only been a short read still manages to draw you in and keep you engaged I loved the way these two interacted with one another
Mack wants to make it as a country singer and having a near fatal accident has made him realise he needs to fight for what he wants So he works odd jobs while he sings around the bars of Austin. Sue Ellen was devastated when her boyfriend cheated on her her friends say she should be out dating again but she just wants to concentrate on her job as a blogger at Twang(a music blog) She is at the bar working when they run across one another she thinks he is gorgeous and the feeling is mutual. When Sue Ellen has to much to drink due to the fact her ex is also at the bar, she isn't capable of doing the interview she is supposed to but Mack is her driver as well and gives her is card. Will she contact him do they have a future together and will they be able to keep their hands of one another You will have to read to see
Mack and Sue Ellen's story is hot, and so entertaining, it's hard not to love it. Adele Niles again gives us a quick, spicy romance. Mack is a country singer, looking for his big break. When he spots Sue Ellen, an entertainment reporter, in the audience, he feels a pull to her. And there story begins. It's a story of mistaken identity and innocence, heat and passion. I love there short stories, with the quick, well developed plots and characters. Niles keeps them coming and as long as she does, I will keep listening!
Randi Johnson's raspy voice, brings it all to life. He has a style that is so perfect for these stories, as he finds the personality of each character and makes them real. I love his voice and can't wait for book 6!
This is book five in The Slippery Curves series. Each book is its own story. This book is Mac and Sue Ellen's story. This is an older man, younger woman insta-love story. Mac and Sue Ellen are dated to meet whether it is Mac singing on stage at the bar or Mac doing his bit as a ride share driver. Sue Ellen is a journalist who wants to write a piece on Mac but discovers she wants more. This is a fast paced story with no extra fluff that is well written. I enjoyed the characters and the story of their journey to find a HEA. The book contains all the necessities for a great, hot and fun romance. Enjoy!

Insta-love with a musician. Sue Ellen writes for a country music blog and she is going to see/interview/review a singer at a bar. She is going with her close friend who thinks it is time for Sue Ellen to start dating again after her boyfriend dumped her. The two of them show up at the bar to see the musician an d see the ex-boyfriend. Sue Ellen focuses on the musician, but still has too much to drink. Mack, the singer, sees her and is instantly attracted to her curvy figure. I am a big fan of the "older male/younger curvy female" books and Ms. Niles writes them so well.

A great romantic short story that is a quick read. The connection between the main male character and the main female character is almost combustible ... call in the fire department. As stated, insta-love for both and a sensual read with a happy ever after. Now what more could a romance enthusiast ask for, eh.
I voluntarily received an advance review copy of this short story via Booksprout and I am leaving an honest and unbiased review. I have no affiliation to this author.
