Magic Assassin Academy #1

Magic Assassin Academy Box Set

Rate this book
It's been three years since my parents, two of the best agents at an elite organization for magical assasins, died mysteriously.

After inheriting both of their powerful magic at once I've had to work as a contract assassin just to survive. After following lead after lead for years I thought the trail went cold until I found a mysterious letter that lead me to the Magic Assassin Academy.

Posing as a student has it's perks, a hot assassin teacher from my past and two smokin’ vampire-witch hybrid ones to be exact.

But it also has it’s downfalls- mean girls are definitely worse when they have magical abilities. But being there uncovers more and more secrets about my parents past.

Between classes, parties, and mean girls I start to wonder- Can I really learn to master my unstable magic and untangle myself from this love web before an ancient power comes in and destroys us all?

Hypnotic narration for a fast paced and action packed magical world. Not to mention the reverse harem that took place was an enjoyable and entertaining read.

What I admired about this book is how the writing and world building is easy to get into. The background story of the main character and the supporting characters were mentioned immediately and without any unneeded drama. The introduction about the academy, the different species, and magic types in the story are also seamlessly woven into the story without making it dragging. Honestly, reading this book was such a breeze and a breathe of fresh air as the storytelling was very gripping and the main and support characters are interesting and refrains from making obvious dumb choices.

I truly loved reading about the main character Luna and her growth throughout the story, not to mention the special bonus of her eventful love life. Another thing I admire the most about Luna is how she pushes forward even when situations and events try to bring her down. I love how strong she is and how persevering. I honestly can't wait to read more about her journey, her discoveries, and her time with all these men.

Loved it!

Luna is somewhat of a lone wolf. Her parents died, leaving her to fend for herself. She’s got good enough skills to make it as a supernatural assassin. Through some events, she finds herself at the same Magic Assassin Academy that her parents attended. She meets twins, Torryn and Sorin, who can’t be more different from each other. Torryn is dark passion, and Sorin is goodness and light. Her other big surprise? Her serial one night stand, Theodan is now a professor at the academy, and he makes all the girls swoon. And the three of them want her. And Luna? She wants revenge against the one that murdered her parents.

I loved this book. I was drawn in from the very beginning. I loved a strong female lead that doesn’t descend into whiny bitchiness. She is carrying around a fair amount of baggage, but she doesn’t let it get her down. And her men . . . Oh boy. I don’t have a favorite. At least not yet. They each bring some thing different to the table. Initially, I thought I’d be a bit weirded out with her attracted to twin brothers. But for some reason, it doesn’t bother me in this book.

I love mean girls in these academy stories. While there was some mean girl action, it wasn’t very much. Hopefully there will be more in the next book. There’s a short battle at the end of this book, and honestly, it was a bit of a let down. Even the build up to this battle was lackluster. For going to fight an immortal mage who killed all of their parents, I would have thought it would have been a huge plot point, but it wasn’t.

All in all, this was a very satisfying read, and I’m anxious to read the next book.

A lot happens

This book requires patience and time. A lot happens in a short time, moving from one disaster to the next without any relief. That is why it lost a star. It was too much. It was too plot-driven, so there was little focus on the individual characters, relationships and character development. Relationships go from 0-60 very quickly. Thats why it lost another another star.

On the plus side, I gave it 3 stars for the organization, the plot, writing (it showed the story instead of telling it) and the entertainment it gave me. Yes, too much happened. But things happened so quickly you wouldn’t know what happens next.. or who dies next. Yes, some main characters actually die. Crazy right?

Note: I received this book from the author and I voluntarily give this review, it is my honest opinion.

The moment I heard the words magic assassin academy, I knew I wanted to read this book. I mean how could I not want to read it, a badass female assassin with magic in an academy setting, how could I not just love this book. Not only did this book have all that plus it was a reverse harem, so basically I was hooked before I even began.

Luna is one of those characters that are close to my own personality, she puts up a brave front, has survived a lot and loves a challenge, she doesn't like to be seen as weak, and she has some darkness but cares about people. Because of her past, Luna is a very complex person, she isn't bad but she isn't good, she does what she has to do in order to survive. My favorite thing about her is her responses to the guys, I swear those were some of the funniest parts in this book.

Mean Girls and Magic was a quick but fun read, things went kinda fast but it doesn't really feel as if anything was missing, there was mystery, boy drama, destinies got revealed, tragic family history and magic. I was highly entertained throughout the entire book and Storm has managed to make me feel very invested in these characters in such a short time.

The overall plot was good, parents mysterious deaths, identity questions, boys coming out of the woodwork, big bad from the past and a mysterious organization that is very questionable. While all that was very good I would have loved to get more into the magic system. I love the little magic that was shown and to know that shifters, witches and vampires exist I would have loved more background info on all of them, especially the witches because Luna has some interesting powers that seem like it's also part elemental magic. There was something else that bugged me, at the end, there was a little weird part that didn't really feel right to the story but it didn't bother me too much, it just felt a little out of place but didn't take away my enjoyment of the story.

Mean Girls and Magic is the first book in the Magic Assassin's Academy series and it's a good start to the series. I am looking forward to seeing how Luna is gonna juggle all her guys and what she is gonna do about all the other problems that are coming her way. I still have questions about Luna's past and about the twin's futures (yes there are twins) plus I wanna know what the Brotherhood (the shadowy organization) is actually up to. So many questions that I plan on learning the answers to, I'm already ready for the next book.

A steamy, reverse harem, new adult book. The characters are likable and who wouldn’t four hot guys vying for your attention. There’s several surprises throughout! The main character is tough-as-nails and trying to unravel her parents’ death as well as control her magic. Also, the ending has me wanting more-can’t wait to see what happens next!

Thank you to the author for a free copy in exchange for an honest review!

This is the first book in a new series, Magical Assassin Academy. Besides few issues with editing (he/she, use of same name twice & such) the storyline was good. A great introduction to this new world. I was glad we got to get a better idea of what the brotherhood is and some background into the main characters. Although I was shocked with the loss of a team member it is also a great lead into what is coming.

This was such a fantastic short read!
Immediately you are thrown into the action and adventure! It keeps you tearing through those pages to find out more about the mystery behind the death of Luna’s parents and what Luna’s future holds. This installment of the series wasn’t heavy on the steam BUT with that ending I have a feeling that book two will certainly be one hot ride!
