The Fifth Edition of Operations and Supply Chain Management: The Core focuses on the important core concepts in the dynamic field of operations. Just as lava flows from the core of the earth operations and supply chain management is the core of business. Material must flow through supply chain processes to create cash output and input. This new edition has an increased focus on supply chain analytics involving the analysis of data to better solve business problems. Connect is the only integrated learning system that empowers students by continuously adapting to deliver precisely what they need when they need it and how they need it so that your class time is more engaging and effective.
This is a pretty lousy textbook. The book is so superficial that it does not really prepare anyone for working in manufacturing and logistics in the industry. The accompanying DVD of videos are likewise commercials for the companies they study. The Science Channel "How it is Made" is a better view into the manufacturing process.
[Textbook] Mr. Jacobs is a Faculty member of the Kelley School of Business (IU) where I'm studying part-time. I enjoy seeing our Faculty effectively represented in the selection of textbooks we use.
This textbook is chock-full of material and learning aids. Several strategic models are quite useful and the text is supported throughout with exercises.
An excellent, MBA level book on supply chain and operations. The book covers a lot of ground on operations management, particularly relevant for factory managers. A prerequisite for taking full advantage of this book is knowledge on statistics concepts, or more specifically, statistics for business.
