ALERT! This hero needs a cough drop ASAP!
This is the ''he growls, she scowls'' saga…
I’m very familiar with Jagger Cole’s writing. He likes to write his heroes growly and groany and I usually am on board with it but this time, I kind of found it redundant. I’ve counted 53 growls, 30 groans and 29 grunts (some were from the heroine but 90% of it was all the hero). I normally don’t mind it, but this time I really noticed it. At one point, I wondered if he was part-wolf 🐺 lmao.
I thought that the beginning was really engaging. I liked the banter between Rowan and Annabelle because they were so different, coming from two completely different worlds, her being the young and rich daughter of a high-profile governor and him being an ex-Marine, now working as a mechanic in the middle of the desert. If the story had been longer, giving more room for banter and showcase the character’s differences, I think I would’ve enjoyed it more. Instead, their relationship changed way too quickly for my liking.
Normally, I would’ve liked Annabelle, but I found her to be too spoiled and too bratty. I can stand a rich city girl with an attitude but she was plain rude from the get-go. She does somewhat change her behavior later on and even apologizes but I don’t know, she was not a really charming heroine.
Rowan, my growly half-wolf man, seemed to be really promising at first. He didn’t take any sh*t from bratty little miss Annabelle and I liked the way he handled her. The part that confused me was the lust that he felt for her early on. With her bratty attitude, I could never classify her as desirable at that point in the story. Yet, he wanted her. Which, made me question his desires towards her in a way? They seemed a little bit superficial because of it. He liked her appearance but I didn’t feel like he liked her. Rowan has been celibate for years and was never a manwh*re.
Their relationship evolved too quickly for my liking. I’m a pacing fanatic (if that’s a thing), so when things develop too unnaturally, I can’t help myself but become fault-finding about it. Don’t get me wrong, I liked the story. I just think it is unfortunate that the characters didn’t get to know each other more, develop their relationship; go from disliking each other, to friendship, to end up lovers…Instead it started with disliking each other to straight up lovers, and it was unnatural and felt rushed. They did have a nice chemistry in bed but that’s about it.
But you know, overall, and even with the negatives, I kind of enjoyed this novella. It made me smile and snort, and to me, that’s a win.

HOT DAMN! THIS WAS HOT. WILD FUCKING, ANIMAL ATTRACTION, TOTALLY ZERO BIRTH CONTROL. I THINK I JUST FOUND MY NEW SMUT AUTHOR. Oh, and did I mention...OLDER GUY, YOUNGER GIRL TROUPE!
This story wasn't lengthy, and even if it was a little superficial, it hit all the rights buttons, it's compact with all the right stuff to make it a wonderful GUILTY PLEASURE READ.
ANNABELLE is having the shittiest day of her life. First her father sends her off to 'rehab' no thanks to the media taking a shot of her in a party with cocaine lined up on the table. NOT that she took drugs or even messed with any of it. But, the media can spin whatever story they want to sell and now she has to lay low in a small, nobody town. When her Aston Martin breaks down, she's thankful the local Chief Officer rolled by and gave her a lift to the mechanic's. And Hoo-Haa, she's going to meet the damn fucking sexy, raw and unpolished ROWAN who makes her girly parts tingle. Not gonna lie. Annabelle is an annoying brat in the beginning, and yes she's having a bad day but at least she makes up for it later with Chicken and Waffles, and also turns into a very likeable person later. Well, maybe more like she's been fucked silly by Rowan most of the time to attempt conversation. The story only inserts a random cartel scene where due to Annabelle's father running for Senate, there's some bad people out there who want to hurt her.
OVERALL this story absolutely makes no sense apart from the romance and smut. It's not intense, it doesn't even have a back story, the characters are not emotionally defined or even 75% 3-D but I can't help but enjoy every moment of it. The animal attraction between Rowan and Annabelle just won HANDS DOWN, and I think it's because I'm BIASED for Troupes like this. Ex-Veteran meets Spoiled Bratty Female? Hell yea!

Quick and dirty read! This was a great first book fast and hot. Rowan is an ex-marine (HOT!), tattooed (HOTTER), is a mechanic, and a quiet, protective man (HOTTEST). Annabelle is a PYT and her car happens to breakdown in his town (of all the mechanic shops, Annabelle steps into his). This story is electric and steamy. Read it.

A miss for me. It started off so well. I liked the whole 'bratty rich girl meets rough mechanic' trope that played out at the beginning but as soon as they got together (which didn't take long), it was like something switched and the book lost it's touch. I felt their chemistry simmering at the start when they had the pull and push between them but then suddenly it went from zero to one hundred and it just seemed like I missed a whole chunk of the book. It didn't flow well. Suddenly they were completely different people and a normal boring couple that I had no interest in. She seemed to lose the rich bitchy attitude, which is what made her have a fiery streak to her and made her stand out to me in the first place, and he just seemed so ... boring after he got her. No longer the sarcastic mechanic that was frustrated by the rich brat. Basically, the one thing that made them have chemistry; they lost it and as a reader? that's no fun. I pretty much had to skim the sex scenes because it didn't interest me at all. Also, the way he kept talking about how big his dick was. Oh my god. I never realised I had a hard limit but I guess I found I do. It's one thing when the heroine talks about it but when the hero keeps mentioning his big dick in every sex scene every few lines, it starts to get old and eye-roll worthy. So yeah, not a fan.

This was quick & dirty & fun, with a dash of danger thrown in. You’ve got a beautiful, and bratty, young woman who’s car breaks down in the desert. And you’ve got a hot, muscled tattooed mechanic (and Marine) who will help her, but also put her in her place. And when danger arrives, he puts himself in the line of fire to protect her. And soon, lust turns into so much more. This was my first read by this author, but I don’t think it’ll be the last

Novella featuring a spoiled political princess meets an ex-marine mechanic
Contains subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence such as kidnapping/abduction, assault, etc.
There are a few grammatical issues including misspellings, missing words, and incorrect tenses. I was able to easily interpret what it should have been, but it does disrupt my reading.
She is the daughter of a politician. Based upon a picture taken while she is at a college party, she now is supposed to go to rehab. It doesn’t matter that she wasn’t doing drugs, has never done drugs, it is just the optics that matter. Unfortunately before she can get there, her car decides to quit. The sheriff is kind enough to give her a ride to the local garage.
There she meets the sexiest man she has ever seen in her life. He comes out from underneath a vehicle, and whew, is he built. There is some flirting back and forth, but he tows her car back to his garage. After letting her dad know about her vehicle, he lets her know that they paid off the photographer and she doesn’t need to go to rehab anymore … just stay hidden for a couple of weeks.
He is immediately attracted to her, even though he knows she is too young for him and trouble with a capital T. Then he sees her getting something out of her car … suddenly is seems his desire has returned … Maybe he could have resisted if those three hadn’t shown up, but now she needs his protection.

Got to love a man in uniform. A mechanics uniform. Um, was he wearing anything?! Hold on, I enjoyed this one a little too much, lol. I'm trying to update my books which is super hard for me because well, I read. A lot. This is an earlier book by Jagger Cole that I just adored. His newest works are far more tangled and complex and dangerous. But there is no loss of steam, rest assured! This one is quicker and just as sexy for the shorter time we have with them. The two have a full story and are both fleshed out as characters. They have such chemistry!
She is getting away from her father's political life and finds herself stuck out in the middle of nowhere, USA according to her. She needs a mechanic and wasn't necessarily the nicest about it when she found one...
But she does have serious sparks with this man! Right away these two are at one another with attitude and heat and it is a delicious back and forth. I loved how there is an actual build-up and a real connection to their relationship. There are events that occur and he is instantly protective despite their situation. They are both good people and fall in love with some sexy and dangerous circumstances. There is a danger aspect and a VERY hot HEA that still has me wanting to fan myself! This is a fun and naughty read that hits the spot every time! I loved this one and I have actually reread this several times. Old stories or new, I find that Jagger delivers each and every time!

I just finished the book a little while ago, and honestly… even though the story is light, I felt that their relationship started mostly with physical chemistry between them. But despite that, their relationship was really cute and sweet.
And he’s extra hot, so I can’t blame her for falling for him—especially since he was completely different from any man she had ever met. Most of the men she’d encountered before were polished, from wealthy families, and always treated her in a way that felt fake or materialistic.
As for him, she was very different too. He had lived through war, loss, and chaos, and she came into his life like the light he’d been waiting for all along.
And he’s extra hot, so I can’t blame her for falling for him—especially since he was completely different from any man she had ever met. Most of the men she’d encountered before were polished, from wealthy families, and always treated her in a way that felt fake or materialistic.

On her way to rehab the car breaks down in a middle of no where. Enter yummy😋😍 Rowen who does not that well with her attitude and gladly puts her in her place. Annabelle did not know that the mob is also after her regarding her father promise against platform. Well older man with younger gal. Need I say more.💘🍹🔥

well.. this is a surprise.. and I think it is a good introduction to Jagger Cole writing style and my 1st read of his work and I really liked it!. It's a novella with HEA coz I am looking a quick read and this one delivered!
I am all for opposite attracts and all that entails with the story and this one works, despite the sudden chemistry and attraction and instalove, but somehow it works and Jagger Cole made it believable for me that I read the bonus scene and it was great!
Wow! need to read more from him!

Hot little story
I enjoyed this short story about mechanic Rowan and Anna. She is an entitled brat who has broken down in the middle of nowhere, in her Astin Martin. Rowan offers to help fix her car but he would need to have the parts shipped in. She isn't dreadful in the least and Rowan gives her some home-truths. She apologises and they give in to the sexual tension which has been brewing around them, even through all the name-calling. What the don't expect though is part of the Mob to show up and try to kidnap Anna for ransom.

First time reading from this author and I wasn't disappointed. I'll definitely be reading more. Rowan is a mechanic/owner of a garage where Annabelle is dropped off after her Aston Martin breaks down in the desert. Sparks fly at first, even though they are attracted to one another, and I really liked how snarky she was and how blunt he was in confronting her about it. It was nice to have a little build-up before the sex starts. I also really really hope he writes books about the mob characters that appear in this story.

I have a soft spot for novellas, particularly those that blend spice with compelling characters and stories. In this particular book, the heroine initially comes off as annoying and bratty, fueled by her frustration with her circumstances. However, she quickly overcomes these initial traits.
Instant love and lust, are elements that I typically don't mind in novellas. I enjoy very much with this book.

I immediately fell in love with Rowan in HER ROUGH MECHANIC. He was a feisty fella and had a good time putting Annabelle in her place a time or two until she saw reason. I am a fan of insta-love if done right, and Cole always gets them spot on.
My guilty pleasure? A Jagger Cole book. I know I am going to get a delicious, over the top, make your toes curl romance and a fun, quick, well written story. If my calculations are correct, he just started publishing this year and it blows me away how quickly he is spitting out the reads. I AM A FOREVER FAN!! 5 Stars!

More action than expected...
With only 106 pages, I did not expect a lot of story development... boy was I wrong. I wanted to drop a car on Annabelle at the start of the story, and was glad that she "grew up" pretty quickly. I didn't expect much or any drama or action, and while there wasn't drama, there was definitely action... and I'm not just talking about in the sack!

Yes, it is a novella and it’s quick to get them naked, in bed and in love with each other but seriously within the first 10 pages he already knew she was it. It’s a good read if that’s what you like. But for me I need more.

Her Rough Mechanic - 5 Stars!
Rowan and Annabelle’s story was my first Jagger Cole book but will definitely not be my last. It was a quick, fun and sexy read with a little suspense thrown in. Cannot wait to read more of his work!

Super cute
I loved this. Little suspense added in there for thrills. A good older man younger woman with no daddy talk thank god. I loved their instant chemistry and her bratty behavior in the start. Good read.

Reminds me of old school harlequin romance novels. Cute back story. I’ve spent about 11 years on the west coast and with all the ish that goes on there this story seems very plausible. I’m a sucker for Marines and Sailors anyway.

I'm a big fan of Jagger's books and this is one of his earlier efforts - I did enjoy it though I don't feel it's at the same standard as his more recent books. Still worth reading if you enjoy his work though, and there's a bonus chapter on his website as well.
