When it strikes, Volka, Carl, 6T9 and Sundancer will have to join forces with an unlikely ally to learn the key to defeating it. An ally who is cold, cunning, and despises all of them--Alexis, Captain Darmadi's wife.
If Volka and Carl can manage not to kill her, 6T9 can refrain from sleeping with her, and Sundancer can keep them all from being blown up, humanity may have some hope.
C. Gockel got her start writing fanfiction, and she is not ashamed! Much. She received emails, messages and reviews from her fans telling her she should 'do this professionally'. She didn't; because she is a coward and life as a digital designer, copywriter and coder is more dependable. But in the end, her husband's nagging wore her down: "You could be the next '50 Shades of Gray' and I could retire!" Unfortunately, the author isn't much for writing smut. She is sad about this; she'd love for her husband to be able to retire and just work for her so she could nag him.
At the moment, Ms. Gockel is working on the next installment of her Archangel Project series.

Gockel is just plain fun! Her stories have the intrigue, the "sort of" suspense and science that is science fiction (some of her craft travel faster than the speed of light). The innuendo she plays among her characters is inventive. A sex 'bot, 6T9. A werfle (think quantum able, ten legged weasel). And the Weere, human, excuse, wolf-human, well, you decide. And last, but certainly not least, a sentient spaceship, that does travel faster than the speed of light.
I forget how I found these books, but have since followed the author. I am sure there will be a book seven. If you ever want to take time off from life, the media (TV) and serious reads, tune into C. Gockel's, Archangel Project.
I’m enjoying C. Gockel’s books in this series more and more. The characters are likable, complex, and interesting. One sign of good writing is characters one can identify with, root for, or despise as the case may be. Author Gockel has achieved this! Highly recommended!
I have read all 6 books and now I will read the next one. I hope there will be more. I love the different species in this series and their interactions. The story between 6T9 and Volka is so unusuall and intriguing.
Wow... best one of the series so far, a few plot holes but easily overlooked. These books are so far out of the ordinary, it's hard to describe, but they're a great read!
Be careful starting this series. It is addictive, entertaining, and causes the reader to think about things, entities and relationships in different ways.
Re-read... all the below still stands. Love the story and the old characters. Alex wasn’t quite as tedious this time round, but still don’t like her and still annoyed there was so little interaction between the three.

Still going strong and keeping me hooked!
... ok, more thoughts. I love watching 6T9 grow and Volka gain her feet and Sundancer too. I was really looking forward to seeing them working with Alex... but we got like three nano seconds before they were apart again! And to be honest... for all the page time Alex had, she was pretty awful. Not much redeeming about her at all. I get that she was raised the Luddie way by a horrible woman and that she thought Alaric had been cheating with Volka for their entire marriage... but we are talking about a decade here... and she never once said anything that might give him a hint that she was listening to gossip, and he never once heard enough gossip to consider setting it straight? And when it all starts coming out, she’s just a snarly little brat, stomping her feet and not listening to anyone because SHE HAS GOSSIP TO BACK IT UP! I don’t feel any kind of connection to her. I really wanted to see a WOMAN coming into her own rather than a little girl throwing her tea set. She was mildly better in the last page or two, but still not anyone I’m interested in reading more of. Hopefully she will just be a side character that will pop up every now and then.
And spoiler...
What I would love to see is Raif and Oliver coming into the story! I want to see the little boys all growed up!

Like the other books in this second half of the series, this story manages to rise above its basic plot. Characters that could be two dimensional are fleshed out well, and there is welcome humor mixed in with some very dark events.
Note: This is the sixth book in a series. You need to read at least the previous two books, and there is no conclusion so you will have to read on.
If you have been following the adventures of Noa, James, Volka, Sixty, Carl and Alaric, you will really love this book. You learn so much more about Sixty and Volka, who they are and what makes them tick. Much like the relationship between James and Noa, you can sort of see a parallel to Sixty and Volka. Enough said about that, you will have to read to find out exactly what that is all about.
This story is full of action, as Sundancer takes them further into the realm where Darkness is Rising and tries to help them see her history. The rescue of Alaric’s wife, Alexis, is something that really keeps you wondering about her. The inner dialogue is a great explanation of her personality and her outlook of the world. You begin to realize why she is like she is and you are not sure if you hate her or feel sorry for her. You have both of those feeling all at the same time.
There is a lot of underlying political intrigue that is going on between the Galactic Republic and Luddeccea. You find yourself wondering if they overcome their prejudices and learn to trust one another. Both nations are so different and while one is ruled by religious morals and fanatics, which are not always good, the other is a nation totally the opposite. Can they learn to work together or not?
It is truly a very good story to read, full of adventure, mystery, and personal challenges and triumphs.
Freakin love this series. This is the best one yet. Getting into 6T9's head was amazing. This author has drawn out so many moral dilemmas, there are things I've never considered.
It's unmissable and I was sad when I found myself at the end. I didn't want it to finish.
As usual I loved this book. C Gockel is an amazing story teller. By book 6, sometimes the story gets stale but this still left me hanging out for the next book. What? I have to wait until April! Have read all in this series and all in the “I bring the fire” series. Fully recommend.
I really love this series. 6T9 is such a great charActer. So full of passion, and compassion and so hopelessly romantic. Who would ever think a sex bot could be all those things?
