Rate this book

Christina Dodd's latest novel is "Danger in a Red Dress" and it is the finale to not one, but two, of her series. This is the story of the adopted brother Gabriel from 'Lost Texas Hearts' who is also the last of the 'Fortune Hunters' brothers. This is Dodd at her best in romantic suspense with a story that keeps you reading to find out exactly how the 'good guys' will win.

Hannah enjoys her job as a nurse specializing in arthritic patients. She's also honest and a bit out-spoken, and when a angry heir dislikes her comments after her most recent patient left her a bonus in his will, he uses his influence to deprive her of her livelihood. So when a stfanger offers her a job taking care of his ill-tempered mother, Hannah is relieved. But it's not long before she's afraid...and then running for her life.

Gabe finally found all of his adopted sisters and recently he located the last piece of evidence to convince his last step-brother of his paternity. His sisters are wonderful and so are his other step-brothers so when the recently-found one asks a favor, Gabe is inclined to help even before telling him he's actually a relative. The job? To prove that the angel of innocence in the picture he's holding is actually and angel of death. So who will Gabe believe--his step-brother or his dream woman?

I knew Gabriel's story would have to be big...and it is. There's mystery, suspense, hot sexual tension, and plenty of action. Even knowing the identity of the 'bad guy' doesn't keep the reader from enjoying the chilling journey. The plot is smooth and unfurls beautifully and the characters are real enough to jump off the page. "Danger in a Red Dress" is headed directly for my keeper shelf to nestle with the other books from both series.

2-1/2 stars.

I am straddling the fence on whether to give this book two stars or three stars. For those of you who followed my status updates with this book, I had serious doubts about if there was going to be a groveling scene and whether it was going to be mind-blowing enough to rocket this book out of a 1 or 2 star rating.

Well, there was a groveling scene... at like the 98% finished mark. It was pretty decent, but not mind-blowingly good. Honestly, I felt like the author waited too long to have Gabriel grovel and then by him saying he'd grovel more in the future, that felt like a cop-out.

Dude did some SERIOUSLY bad sh*t in this book... He SPIED on the heroine 24/7 with closed circuit cameras when she didn't even know he EXISTED. I'm sorry, but a "hero" doesn't do that for 60%+ of a book (even Edward didn't use cameras, well, that we know of anyway...).

The romance was blah. Ok, Gabriel basically "falls in love" with Hannah upon seeing a (bad) picture of her. Really? I am not a big believer in the "love at first sight" bit... sure, I've heard it actually can happen in real life, but I have a hard time with it. Especially when Gabriel does it WITH A PICTURE(WTF?!). Feeling as he does doesn't stop him from being a world-class perv, though.

Hannah really doesn't know who Gabriel is for about 80-85% of this book. He lies to her repeatedly, manipulates her in to staying with him (again, lying to her about who he is), and sleeps with her (mostly off the page which was lame) again WHILE SHE DOESN'T REALLY KNOW WHO HE IS. Does this say "hero" to you?

Why did this book get 2-1/2 stars when it was this bad? Because I liked some of the secondary characters such as Daniel (Gabriel's awesome sidekick) and Hannah's patient, Mrs. M. I also liked Hannah quite a bit even though she let Gabriel off the hook way too easily (not a spoiler since this is a romance so duh, they end up together).

Mostly, this book sucked because Gabriel was a sucky, perv, controlling liar.

REVIEW OF AUDIOBOOK & REREAD; APRIL 24, 2014
Narrator: Angela Dawe

The Story: Best romantic suspense I've read in years. Not saying there aren't flaws but they are negligible niggles (say that fast five times!) and while this is definitely a romantic suspense, the romance doesn't drive the story. We know Gabriel Prescott wants Hannah and if you've read the previous books, you'd know there's an HEA for the couple with the obligatory appearance of Gabe's half-brothers and their wives from the earlier books to welcome Hannah into the family.

That aside, the story is like a modernized Phyliss Whitney ("The Queen of the American Gothics" as the NY Times described her) and there were some scenes that reminded me of the cheesy Hammer horror films my mother loved back in the 60s.

At first, I thought Carrick was the hero (I went into the book without reading the blurb so I had no idea what it was about) then he turned weird and suddenly this Gabriel guy pops up. I stopped the audio to read the blurb then checked out the blurbs for the two earlier books which I have not read yet. Until then, I did not know that the series was about four half-brothers. I'd read the first book but wasn't impressed and didn't bother to follow the series. As a result, I was very (pleasantly) surprised at how good DiaRD was. The plot moved quickly and did not let up. There were no fillers and I was gripped the events as they unfolded, even done-before scenes like Hannah's escape from Balfour House through the secret tunnel that leads out to the sea.

Some readers complained about the lack of "sizzle" in the romance, and the amount of romance as opposed to mystery/suspense. It's true the romance doesn't get much page space but it's not like reading a new Sandra Brown or Karen Ross either. Those two have switched to the "suspense-with-a-drop-of-romance" subgenre but Dodd here is still very much a romantic suspense. There was sufficient alone-time between the couple (for me), their feelings about each other was clear but I get that for some readers who prefer more romance, this book won't satisfy. For my 60/40 (suspense/romance) preference, this final installment of the Fortune Hunter series worked very well.

The Narrator: This is the first book narrated by Ms Dawe that I've listened to. I have a few others by her - Sweet Talk (Buchanan-Renard #10) and the Kathleen Turner series by Tiffany Snow. Ms Dawe was very good in DiaRD; I like her type of voice - warm, rounded timbre, and she gave enough differences to each character so that I had no difficulty distinguishing them. I'm impressed enough to start listening to Sweet Talk today.

I also just found out that Gabriel's sisters' stories are told in the Lost Texas Hearts series and they are narrated by another of my favorite female narrators, Natalie Ross. I read the books when they first came out in paperback ten years ago but I know I'll enjoy them more in audio with Ms Ross' performance.

REVIEW OF MASS PAPERBACK MAY 2009: 5 STARS
It's been awhile since I read a Christina Dodd after being turned off by the last book of hers I read - Trouble in High Heels. Mrs Giggles' review of Danger in a Red Dress was hard to resist, though, so I bought it.

Never regretted it at any time! I enjoyed the fast pace and the characters even though the book did feel like an old Phyllis Whitney with the dates and characters' occupations changed. There're even secret tunnels behind bookshelves and I felt like I was in junior school again and reading Enid Blyton's Famous Five books!

If the next Dodd's going to be like this instead of that ridiculous High Heels one, I'll be getting it for sure.

Contemporary Romance / Romantic Suspense

When a wealthy and elderly gentleman dies under nurse, Hannah Grey's, care and leaves her bigger sum of money, his selfish children convince a judge that Hannah slept with their father to get the money, causing Hannah's nursing license to be revoked. Jobless and desperate, Hannah accepts an offer from handsome, charismatic Carrick Manly to care for his ailing, difficult mother. When Hannah arrives to Maine she finds out that Carrick have a devious and manipulative plan--Mrs. Manly has a secret that Carrick wants to find out at whatever cost. Soon Hannah freedom and life are in great danger because of the things that start to happen and because of the secrets she has been told...

The story got really interesting, so it was hard to put it down - the plot moved at good pace and I was gripped by the events. Really liked this story, especially strong and interesting heroine. If you liked this one, then try OBSESSION FALLS and DEAD GIRL RUNNING both by C. Dodd.

Romantic-suspense light. It was a good book with an excellent plot and if you have read the other books in the series, it gives you a twist right at the beginning.

Hannah is a conscientious home care nurse. That is really good for the patients, but some families are not pleased when Hannah winds up in the will also. One family was especially vile about it and caused her to have her license suspended. She is out of work, her reputation smeared and getting desperate. Carrick Manly hires her to care for and befriend his mother. Carrick needs to find out where his father, Nathan, stashed the fortune he embellished from his company and Carrick thinks his mother knows. Carrick also hires Gabriel to spy on them in order to obtain the information. Hannah is not what Carrick and Gabriel think she is and she gets set up again, this time for murder. Hannah takes off on the run, but Gabriel is right behind her. He knows she has the information Carrick needs, but when he finds her, he can't bring himself to turn her over. He is beginning to have doubts about Carrick and his motives in all this. Hannah falls hard for Gabriel and when she finds out he has been lying to her all along and working with Carrick she decides to end it and carry out Mrs. Manly's plan.

Vastly disappointing, probably because I had been looking forward to this book while reading the last six. Mostly I was horrified that anyone would put a video camera in a bedroom for surveillance, much less the supposed hero of the book. A bug I could understand, but the degree of invasion of privacy in a video camera for both Mrs. Manley and Hannah was appalling. It was like being in a prison cell without the added benefit of knowing that everything you do is filmed. At least prisoners know they can't go to the john without being observed. Gabriel's position throughout this book was untenable. Also, I am a computer programmer and can tell you the program used in this book would never have worked. It would have worked if run soon after it was written but not fifteen years later. Nothing stays static that long, especially bank accounts. Not the one with the hidden money but the ones for the recipients. That part of the book was hogwash. I did enjoy all the former characters and their spouses getting together briefly at the end and the fact that the book was not riddled with casual sex.

I know I read this book out of sequence, but, come on, look at that title! How could I not jump ahead? And, I was not disappointed. If you plan on doing anything else while reading this, go for the audio, otherwise, you'll go on one of those book trips that find you hours later wondering why it's 2am.
This book grabs you, and doesn't let go. I kept saying, "oh, Hannah". Luckily there was no one around me with that name.
Normally, I hate it when the irredeemable liar is forgiven, but, this time the brilliant, Christina Dodd, made even my cynical 'book heart' forgive.
Great book!!! Think I'll read the beginning of the series, now. Gotta find out how we got here.

This book was just OK for me. While the characters were ok, I never felt the chemistry between this couple….very little sizzle. When reading Romance, I love sizzle….lol.

This is the last book in the Fortune Hunters series and is the story of Gabriel Prescott and Hannah Grey. Gabriel is one of four illegitimate sons of the infamous businessman Nathan Manley. Fifteen years earlier, Nathan disappeared with billions of dollars stolen from his company. He has not been found nor the money recovered. Nathan also had a son by marriage, Carrick. Gabriel has finally united with all siblings except Carrick. This book also tells their story.

Hannah Grey is a home health nurse who recently was involved in a highly publicized scandal involving one of her patients that has damaged her credentials as a nurse. Innocent of all charges, she still finds herself unemployed. Carrick is in need of a pawn to help uncover the information needed to acquire the money his father has stolen. Believing his ailing mother has this information, he will go to any lengths, even murder, to reach his goal. He convinces Hannah that his mother needs home health care and she takes the job, unbeknown to her that she is being set up.

Concocting an elaborate scheme, Carrick convinces Gabriel that Hannah is a thief and possibly murderer and that security is needed for Mrs. Manley’s protection. Gabriel, owner of a Security Company and wanting to help his brother, takes the position. He decides to postpone telling Carrick that he is also the son of Nathan Manly until the job is finished. Gabriel installs state-of-the art cameras and monitoring systems throughout the house. Enamored with Hannah, Gabriel decides to work around the clock himself monitoring her and Mrs. Manley’s activities.

And so the story goes until there is a death, accusations, confusion and Hannah is living a fugitive’s life in Houston. While this last book solves the mystery of the disappearance of Nathan Manly and the money, I was disappointed. The mystery was just ok for me and there was very little romance.

Hannah sebenarnya perawat yg beruntung sekaligus bernasib nahas. Sbg perawat orang-orang sudah tua dan kaya, Hannah dituduh sbg jalang yg meniduri kliennya (krn mendpt warisan yg banyak). Saat gak punya uang dan ditawari sbg perawat Mrs. Manly, lagi² Hannah terlibat dlm perebutan warisan dgn Carrick Manly yg serakah. Hingga Hannah terjebak dituduh membunuh dgn sengaja Mrs Manly.

Klimaks cerita masih lumayan, namun saya kurang menyukai ending dgn napas "kekeluargaan berlebihan" yg promo gencar spy mereka menikah sama spt tokoh² utama seri ini sebelumnya. Not my cup of tea.

Innocent woman is framed and on the run. Good mystery suspense.

STORY BRIEF:
Hannah is a home care nurse who took care of Donald until he died. Donald’s descendants were angry that Donald left $50,000 to Hannah. They made false accusations and had her nursing license suspended. Because she can’t get work, Carrick hires her thinking she will spy for him. Carrick’s father ran off with a fortune a few years earlier. Carrick believes his mother knows where the money is. Carrick takes Hannah to meet his mother. When Carrick asks Hannah to spy, she adamantly refuses. The mother overhears this and likes Hannah as a result. The mother insists Hannah stay as her nurse/caretaker. Since Hannah won’t spy for him, Carrick hires Gabriel, owner of a security firm, to plant video cameras throughout the house to spy on his mother and Hannah. Carrick tells Gabriel that he fears for his mother’s safety because Hannah had sex with and killed Donald – a lie. As Gabriel watches the two women, he falls in love with Hannah. Someone kills the mother and frames Hannah. Hannah is now on the run. Carrick and Gabriel both want her found.

REVIEWER’S OPINION:
Hannah being on the run reminded me of the feelings I had when watching the movie “The Fugitive” with Harrison Ford – the odds are so against her, how can she ever come out of it? She is on the run from the government, Carrick and the private detective Gabriel who has mixed feelings. He has fallen in love with her, yet he thinks she is a murderer. This story is primarily mystery/suspense. It is well done. The characters are good. Hannah is smart and does some clever things. There is not a lot of time spent with the couple interacting with each other, which is ok. But there is some romance with a feel good ending.

REVIEWER’S COMMENTS ABOUT OTHER REVIEWS:
Thank you to other reviewers who wrote some negative comments. You made some valid points, and I’m sure there are readers who will agree with you. I wasn’t bothered by those issues, so I’m going to present my opposing opinions.

One person felt there was not enough romance. I agree that there was not much romance, but there was enough to place the book within the romance genre. Readers should know that this is more about suspense than romance, but it does have the required happy ending.

One person didn’t like Hannah running from her problems instead of facing them. My personal reaction (I hope) would be to fight before running, but I felt Hannah’s actions were believable. The author wanted to write about Hannah being on the run, and I think she came up with a reasonable way to do it. I’ve read worse.

Someone did not like the hero watching Hannah (via hidden cameras) do personal things. It is not unusual (in real life or fiction) for law enforcement or private detectives to put people under surveillance. And when you’re under surveillance, someone’s going to see you do personal things. So, for readers who don’t like their hero being a voyeur, I suggest you avoid this story. He was hired to do this, by the way. The surprise was how much he enjoyed it.

DATA:
Story length: 380 pages. Swearing language: moderate. Sexual language: moderate. Number of sex scenes: 1, 8 pages long. Setting: current day New Hampshire, Maine and Texas. Copyright: 2009. Genre: romantic mystery suspense.

OTHER BOOKS:
To date, I’ve read one other book by Christina Dodd. My 3 star review for “Close To You” copyright 2005 was posted 2/11/09.

CAUTION SPOILERS:
I didn’t buy one plot point. We know the mother was computer literate since she researched Hannah on the computer. Later, the mother asked Hannah to do something on the computer. I don’t understand why the mother did not do that task herself. It was simple to do and only took a couple of minutes. In spite of this flaw, the story was still good.

I like the author’s writing skills. She didn’t waste time with repetition. At one point in the story, Hannah decides to tell the truth to Gabriel of everything that has happened to her. She said “I have something to tell you.” The next sentence is “The next morning, …” I liked this. The reader already knew the story, and the author didn’t waste our time being repetitive. Most of the time “showing” is good, but in this case “not showing” was good.

Another great book by Christina Dodd. Her books have surprising happenings, secrets, suspense and lots of laugh out loud humor. Chrisina's characters are always charming, likable, and somewhat quirky!
They are usually sexy and entertaining, but she is wonderful at weaving a story throughout the book with loveable characters and you just cannot put the book down.

I was disappointed. I don't know if my expectations were so high, because I was excited it was Gabriell's story, but the story just fell flat for me. I just didn't see where the romance/connection was or why/how Hannah and Gabriell fell in love.

This book links to the Lost Hearts series, but is also part of the Fortune Hunter series.

Hannah Grey is a Home Care Nurse, who takes care of elderly patients and specializes in Arthritis care. She get into trouble in New Hampshire, when she's accused by the children of her patient of sleeping with him, which was not true, but she has no way to defend herself and her temper gets in the way. When she gets an offer to help a woman in Maine, she jumps at it.

Gabriel Prescott has spent his adult life making a name for himself and looking for his missing family. He finds his foster sisters and then finds out who his birth father was, and meets 3 of his 4 brothers. He is set to introduce himself to his last half-brother, when he is hired by that brother to check out Hannah, who was hired to take care of his brother's mother. Carrick is trying to find out what his father did with all the money he stole from his company and disappeared 15 years ago. He thinks his mother knows what happened to the money and needs to find it so he can pay his debts and get the feds off his back. His mom is going to face a trial if she doesn't tell the government where the money is, so she's on a deadline. Hannah is a pawn in all of this, and Gabriel is recording everything to find out what she is doing and if she knows where the money is. Trouble is, he's falling in love with her, while believing her to be a liar and a murderer. Will he change his mind? Will he find the truth? Will she forgive him?
Great fun.

Danger in a Red Dress concludes the Fortune Hunter series and it was awesome!! Hannah Grey is a nurse who ends up in a scandal that leads her to take a position in Maine hired by the legitimate son of Nathan Manly to care for his bedridden mother. Carrick Manly is intent on getting the fortune his father swindled from investors and employees some years ago. He thinks that Hannah will cooperate with his scheme to get the information from his mother who recognizes him for the scoundrel he is, but despite her situation Hannah remains true to her patient. Gabriel Prescott is hired by Carrick Manly to spy on Hannah and his mother telling Gabriel that he suspects Hannah of mistreating his mother and that she is after the missing fortune. Gabriel knows that he is Carrick's half brother and he trusts him, especially since he has located three other half brothers who have turned out to be good men married to wonderful women. Even though he is taken with Hannah, he believes in his brother and, when Mrs. Manly dies, he believes that Hannah is a murderer and determines to capture her after she escapes. This was a page turner and a treat to read.

Almost 5 stars. I really enjoyed this book. It had some elements that threw me out of the story, often pertaining to people acting stupidly or in a way that (to me) seemed out of character, which kept it in the 4 star range. (That may well have been my memory of previous related books being off.) I also wish I had realized that this was Gabriel's book--and that the two series were connected--back when I read the Lost Hearts series; if I had, I'd have read all of them back to back and, I think, better understood the things that felt wrong here.
So, folks, read the Lost Hearts series, then immediately read the Fortune Hunter series. They are all connected and wrap up here in FH book 4.

I enjoyed Christina Dodd's book, Danger in a Red Dress, because it wasn't like anything else I've read. All Hannah Grey wanted to do was be a good home-care nurse. And she was. Unfortunately, instead of her patients' last requests rewarding her, they end up causing trouble for her instead! Gabriel Prescott's entry into Hannah's life causes even more turmoil! Eventually, one family's long held secret finally comes to light and Hannah gets her HEA! This book has interesting characters, lots of twists and turns, and action galore!

What a wild and crazy stupid story lol. I did enjoy the plot (until the end) and the writing. This story is 15 years old so I’m hopeful some of the plot devices this author doesn’t use any longer. The so called “hero” installs cameras around the house and spies on the heroine. Doing….EVERYTHING. Immoral and illegal. Really leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The characters all made stupid decisions and ultimately weren’t likable. At all. I did enjoy the writing though so I will definitely have to try this authors newer books and hope for the best.

I honestly really really REALLY wanted to like this book. It had potential, but noooooo.

This book is the ending to both Lost Texas Hearts and Fortune Hunters (Nathan Manly's sons).

:::SPOILER:::

The first half of this book is alright. Like it's okay. The second half... I get the impression that Dodd seriously did not care. Or RUSHED through the entire book. A couple of things stuck out to me, in no particular order.

1) The part when Gabriel saw the picture of Hannah and said she was HIS dream girl. And then sometime afterwards, Trent AKA Gabriel under the disguise as security for the party, tells Hannah that he was a gang member through one of those phone sessions they have. Dodd specifically mentions that Hannah thought of this boy. This boy with green eyes and such and such. THIS. May be just me, but it seriously gave the impression the two main characters had some sort of history or knowledge of another. But wait, that can't be right. Gabriel was put in foster care, and Hannah's mom finally died when Hannah was 16. By then Hannah could live by herself. So how did the two ever meet? Then WHY did Dodd write these parts?

2) Drugging confessions that had little to no impact. Sometime after the 1st time the two get shot at, Hannah is on pain medication and Gabriel isn't (He's a tough macho man, and what if Hannah gets away again? No way). Hannah confesses to the time of meeting her father unknowingly; she was going over to take care of an ex-Navy person, who just so happened to be her father-and upon arriving and taking care of her father, her father's current wife and daughter was there. And they were mad-thinking this was some ploy set up to see her father. You see, the mother and daughter were able to tell because of the "similar genetics". This is a bit much. Granted, given the proper descriptive storytelling I KNOW Dodd is capable of, it could be extremely traumatic. But the way Dodd DID write this part was completely... Mediocore, discussing the weather monologue. Which prompts Gabriel to tell HIS story of why he screams out from the nightmares. His mother left him on a highway and he screams from the passing cars because he was frightened-he was only 4 years old at that time and he was forcibly removed because he wouldn't budge because his mother told him to stay there. Crappy mother, I know. And YES, Dodd told this in the fashion of "Oh, I just.... It's okay". It's okay. No, it is NOT okay.

3) Sex within MAYBE 4 days of re-meeting but technically with a stranger... But even worst--BOAESS. Blink Of An Eye Sex Scene. SCENE. Now Trent and Hannah don't get to have sex, but he does catch her masturbating on his many sessions of sp-I mean security cameras while after one of their phone conversations. Dodd FINALLY gets to the sex after the one year gap and they get shot. I think it's somewhere between the horrible confession and or possibly before the "Heroine spills all". It's like one of those scenes out of a movie. Now if we wanted to watch a movie, we'd definitely do that, however... This is a book, we're reading, give us MORE. The writing style of "the lights dimmed as he prepared to thoroughly pound her... Etc". Not what Dodd wrote, but you get the gist. It went down like that. I seriously thought the two were going to cuddle only. Show me the SEX, dammit. And this is literally maybe, at most, 4 days of knowing this stranger, who you originally (Hannah did) thought as dangerous, however threw yourself (Hannah did) at because of the gun from afar you saw (1st time they get shot at). And Hannah, you think he's Gabriel. Not Trent Gabriel, but Gabriel.

4) I need to tell you the truth/Hannah spills all. After they have sex 3 times but that really doesnt count because there was hardly one-how could there be three?-sex scene. Cliche, cliche cliche. But worst? Dodd doesnt even bother to write what Hannah says. "She knew she needed to tell him, she TRUSTED him." Cues next scene, taps return twice. Begins new paragraph where SUDDENLY Daniel (confidant/chauffeur/Gabriel-Trent-Whatever-His-Name-Is' right-handed man knows what Hannah said and believes her.

5) Which prompts Gabriel to review the clips of when Hannah 'murdered' Melinda Balfour AKA Nathan Manly's wife/mother to Carrick Manly. Manly stood over the injections that Hannah originally laid out earlier, in the case of extreme should something happen at the party. But Carrick is HIS (Gabriel's) brother. Surely not! Surely SO. Once he thought about it more, the more it seemed to be true. He knew what he must do. /facepalms. Why didnt you do that before, Gabriel? And Gabriel says... He was afraid to believe her because he desperately wanted to believe her/Carrick's his kid brother. /smh

6) Acute realization that YES, this was Trent, how dare he? For some inkling, Hannah decides to google/web surf Carrick. In some of the many links related to Carrick, she finds out that Gabriel is Carrick's half brother. Which then prompts her to figure out that it was Trent, who was Gabriel. Or Gabriel was Trent. Whatever! He'd pay. /shakes fist. Okay, that's fine and all but srsly woman. If you didnt notice it now, how'd you finally figure it out?

7) Osgood? Dunno who he really is but the guy shows up again. This was the last of the Fortune Hunters, so I dont know how Dodd is going to end or quit Osgood. It's kind of... Eh.

This book really had potential, though. I'll say that much.

Danger in a Red Dress

Gabriel and Hannah meet at Half our House, she is working for Mrs Melissa Manly and he is working for his half brother Carrick Manly. Mrs Manly was murdered and Hannah is accused. She manages to escape but 11 months later is found but saves Gabriel's life. It makes him start questioning what his brother told him. In the end he Grove is and is able to convince her to marry him. Great story.

A very entertaining read! I read it in one day and couldn't put it down.
I felt very sorry for Hannah and all that she had been through! I still have trouble believing why only the old people believe her. Good mystery and story.
I had not read any of the previous books in this series and managed just fine.
Really enjoyed it. Read it!!

2.5 stars.

This had potential but too many things gave me the ick

There's an age gap, she is 24 and he is 38
He watches her/stalks her, pretends to be someone else and this is not cleared up before they bang
They are both injured when they bang
"Boobies"

It's redeemed itself in that her not finding out and not knowing who he is was part of the point? But there was not enough groveling for me.

Well plotted.

The plot was original and kept attention rapt, but some language issues infuriated — going on the lamb. Really. Boobies hanging out there as a highly inappropriate descriptor used by a mature man. And tithe springs creak. Apparently they need an influx of cash.
