I first encountered Jolleen on LinkedIn and instantly loved her passion for her work. When she started posting about her new book it was a no-brainer to purchase it and see what it had to offer. As a fellow Aboriginal woman I was not sure how much I would gain from reading it, but it significantly helped to gather my thoughts and shuffle what I already knew into a step-by-step approach that is easy to follow and I could share with others. This was combined with new material I hadn’t previously encountered.
This book is quite short and concise, but a wonderful beginners guide- perfect for most working for service providers and with limited time. If Jolleen publishes further books in the future, I will be one of the first to purchase... she is deadly 🖤💛❤️
A very important book, especially for a person, group, or company looking to engage with Aboriginal communities. It has clear, easy to understand information that can be used to enable the person/group/company to engage with Aboriginal communities in a respectful way. It explains the ways of engagement that are harmful or offensive and offers practical suggestions on approaches that can be implemented to foster a trusting, respectful, meaningful relationship with said communities.
